I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation!

Remember, week 4 is, like week 3, a time when weight loss tends to be pretty slow, if not non-existent. KOKO and persevere, and things will get going again soon.

But not if you cheat! Whilst many of you have been very honest about your transgressions, just remember that this WOE is not a very forgiving one. It's not like a calorie-controlled diet, where you can compensate for one 'bad' day with a 'good' one. As some of you have already found out the hard way!

Mandelinka check out this article on muscle cramps.

Style keep on posting your meals so that we can have a nosy at what you're eating. How long have the scales stayed the same for?

BIWI · 16/06/2017 08:58

PLEASE DON'T EVEN CONSIDER DOING A CARB RE-FEED YET!

It's way, way too early. You've only just started to switch your body into fat-burning mode.

Quite frankly, those of you considering it - it sounds like you're looking for an excuse to eat something carby!

It really, really won't be worth it

@shittymctwatface (I love typing that name! Grin)

Try laying off the artificial sweeteners as well as the processed food - bacon, gammon, sugar-free jelly and Atkins bars have all featured in your posts this week. They really won't be helping you.

And also, having gone back through your posts, it looks to me like you could do with upping your fat (and possibly the water as well).

Age really shouldn't have anything to do with this - I'm 57 (bloody hell I hate typing that) and I've seen a drop this week of 3lbs.

BIWI what are your thoughts on slightly sweetened cream? I ate (far too much) of the Tesco Madagascan vanilla cream last night. 6.9g carbs per 100g but does contain sugar....

ilovecherries · 16/06/2017 09:26

Please can someone reassure me that at some point in the not-too-distant future I will actually sleep properly again? I'm exhausted :(. I'm not hungry, nor am I too full. I'm not too hot, not waking for the toilet etc etc. But I just can't stay asleep since starting this. Maybe 1-2 hours at the beginning of the night, then long periods of wakefulness before waking for good at 6. I'm shattered.

CodLiverOil556 · 16/06/2017 09:33

I'm so excited, I've found some bread that's only 5.9g per slice Grin

Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Coming to the end of our first month
JiminnyCricket · 16/06/2017 09:34

Right!

So MiL over the last 3 weeks has decided to go on an almightly slimming world themed health kick. She's desporate to be slimmer for my wedding so I can relate to that! She has about 4-5 stone to lose so she could definately achieve that in plenty of time even on slimming world.

DP and I ate dinner before we went to see them because I didn't want to put any pressure on MiL to cook for me or anything. All good.

We got there at 7:30pm and they had ordered us fish and chips as a suprise treat Hmm.. For context, we lived with them for a year while we saved up to buy our house and fish and chips was a weekly treat. We'd all sit and eat them in front of the TV and have a catch up. Lovely thought, but they KNEW we were eating before we went and that I'm trying hard to shift the weight so just WHY. Confused

So the fish and chips arrives. THey've ordered each person a large fish and a seporate large chips "because you get more for the same price if you have them in seporate boxes".. I said i appriciated the thought massively but they could share mine out between them. MiL thought it was fine because "it's all covered in fat" Hmm

Anyway, DP and FiL shared mine between them because MiL was "being good" and not having any more. SO I sat there while they ate quite happy and chatting away, absolutely no ill feeling at all about it and was really happy just to see them.

Fast forward 30 mins, DP is about to explode he's so full and keeps giving me the "you owe me" look Grin... MiL produces the biggest chocolate cheesecake you've ever seen from the ktichen Hmm

Again, I say thanks for the thought it looks lovely but I really can't and I'm still full from dinner.

MiL goes ape shit. "Why can't you just enjoy yourself for once, a bit of cake and a few chips wont bloody kill you!" The tone was jokeyish, but her face said she was deadly serious.

I initially tried to laugh it off and said something like "I know right? it's awful being on a diet at family stuff, but I cant just have a ittle bit that's the problem! You've got much better self control than me"...

But she got redder in the face and was giving me the death stare: "You did this at XXX's bithday as well, wouldnt have a bit of cake with us and everyone noticed" (she's referring to a few weeks ago at a family get together when I had ham and salad ferom the buffet and no cake)...

At this point DP came to my rescue and said something like "Mum you should be encouraging her not having a go at her for not eating cake, she's doing really well and I'm proper proud of her".

Well MiL went a bit redder and said "I'm not having a go at her I'm only saying, she's getting obsessed with it now"

So i basically sort of reassurred her I'm not obsessed with it and I'm being very sensible and the weight is coming off at a stewady rate.

Then she launched into how well she's doing on slimming world (3lbs in 4 weeks so really good effort) and how she can eat as many potatoes and pasta and rice as she likes so my diet was restrictive for no reason etc etc.

I tried multiple times to change the subject but she loves to talk about slimming world (Nando's lemon and herb sauce, only half a syn for a tablespoon!) so i sat through an hour of that before DP decided we needed to leave before I went nuclear. Grin

Argh!

CodLiverOil556 · 16/06/2017 09:38

Your MIL sounds like a fruit loop Jiminy...well done for not succumbing to her sabotage (cause that's what it sounds like) the SW diet is like a cult and does brainwash to a certain extent.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/06/2017 09:39

Morning everyone. Just a little public service announcement that occurred to me this morning as I was clearing away dishes from last night's dinner (slothful)--

As we are all cooking with so much fat, I'd like to suggest that everyone considers pouring warm fat into an empty tin can to collect and throw away in bins, or scraping cooled fat/leftover mayo/butter etc into a compost caddynor bin.

Basically, please do not rinse all your fat down the sink! We received a leaflet from the council about this--it adds up incredibly quickly and causes real problems for the sewage and plumbing network.

Thanks. Blush

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/06/2017 09:40

By the way, I'm having zero problems staying to guidelines but feeling annoyed because my stomach, which was feeling significantly flatter, has rebelled and puffed a bit more this past week. The bastard. Angry

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/06/2017 09:41

The bastard belly. That's what I'll call it from now on. AngryWink

PlymouthMaid1 · 16/06/2017 09:41

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling this week. I seem fine do long as I plan a day ahead. The scales arent moving as fast as I would like but that is nothing unusual for me and I am possibly having too much dairy. Its days like today I find hard as I am going out soon and wont be back til bedtime involving both lunch and dinner in pubs or cafes on the seafront. I will take emergency babybel and flax bread I think as dont want to cause too much disruption.

Yesterday I had creamy coffee, 3egg cheese omelette and giant mushoom cooked in butter, hadock, cauili mash and brocolli with more butter, a few strawbs and cream, and also slipped a shot of ameretto in my coffee which was lovely but I wish I hadnt really. Trying to force the water down, think I manage 2 litres usually but more would be good although I feel I am drowning in it a bit.

C4 your craftwork is lovely. I make quilts too but am currently having a crochet and knitting revival.

C4pinkwheels · 16/06/2017 09:45

Ilovecherries I suffered terrible insomnia for years, all of these things helped me:

~ get some fresh air during the evening.
~ have an hour pre bed wind down, a warm bath in candle light with some relaxing music playing.
~ no screen time for at least an hour before bed, no phone, iPad/tablet, TV, laptop or PC
~ if you wake up and don't fall asleep after 30 minutes, get up go and sit somewhere with soft lighting and read or listen to music or a relaxation CD
~ when you are in bed and trying to go to sleep run through a relaxation exercise - there are tons on YouTube.
~ try wearing some noise cancelling headphones or listen to white noise

CodLiverOil556 · 16/06/2017 09:47

What I do with my leftover fat is make fat balls for the birds and hang them outside. Pretty easy just mix it in a bowl with various nuts and seeds, form into balls with a bit of string then pop in the fridge

YoLoZammo · 16/06/2017 09:48

Oh Jim she just follows another "religion" and every WOE thinks it's the best one! Look at this thread! You'll have to either try hard to convert her, or agree to disagree on the basis that you have both found something that works for you and that you'll never fall out over food! Life's too short to be aggro with family IME.

She sounds hard work though!Flowers

C4pinkwheels · 16/06/2017 09:59

Jiminny your MIL is a diet saboteur, what she did was a deliberate act of sabotage probably because she is jealous of your weight loss and doubts your WOE.
I would be tempted to provide her with reams of reading material about LC diets and next time you go take a LC picnic with lots of delicious food. Other than that you could slip her a sedative in a SW treat and chat to FIL while she snores.

Giraffeski · 16/06/2017 10:02

Yesterday-
B: creamy coffee
L: manchego cheese and Parma ham (m&S as hanging about a lot in car- DH has inexplicably broken his patella, so hanging around GP surgery and XRay with him- he only went in to have a wart frozen off, thought he'd just strained his knee, nurse rushed him through to doctor!)
D: LC bolognese and courgetti (love my spiraliser!).

Giraffeski · 16/06/2017 10:03

Oh- and NSV- I am wearing a pair of chinos I couldn't do up- last time I wore them was over a year ago in Venice and I had to use a hair bobble to fasten them.

ChesterDrawers · 16/06/2017 10:05

Jiminny am LOLing at fish and chips being ok for LC cos it's covered in fat! Sounds like some serious sabotage going on, well done to you (and your DP) for standing your ground.

Life is so busy at the moment, I am barely keeping my head above water. But I am sticking with LC which I’m proud of, as normally the smallest excuse sends me off hunting for carbs. The house is a mess, there’s washing in both the machine and tumble dryer (from Wednesday Blush)the grass needs cutting, we’re eating out of the co-op or M&S, which isn’t exactly the cheapest option – I feel like I need to press pause on the world so I can have time to catch up.

But enough moaning, like I say, LC eating it going great, just need to scales to get with the programme now and it will be all good.

Today’s plan:
B: Eggs, butter, cream, big blob of Castello blue cheese
L: Hmmmm
D: Hmmmm

I can also see a glass or two of wine in my future

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/06/2017 10:06

I've never understood why people are so interested in what others eat.

You're not complaining about your food, you're not unwell, your WOE is working for you...honestly, why does it matter that you don't eat cake? Why would "everyone" notice or actually care?

The only thing I come back to is that they don't want your willpower to make them feel bad about their choices (to eat cake).

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 16/06/2017 10:21

knotty I have a set of Jillian DVDs - 30 day shred, banish fat boost metabolism, no more troubles zones & 6 week six pack. I think I'm going to try the others after I've finished the shred. It was noticeably easier this morning on day 5.

ClearEyes we've got a fat trap that we use, we just pour all the fat into it and then send out with the rubbish.

Jiminny your MIL is clearly jealous. I have it with my MIL and she's not on any kind of diet. I just do one of the MN tinkly little laughs and stand my ground.

I'm experimenting with having bigger breakfasts as I was getting hungry before 12 . It seems to have worked the past couple of days. Yesterday I had a 2 egg omelette with half an avocado and chorizo. Kept me full until 4/5pm. Today I had 3 microwave scrambled eggs with naice ham and cayenne pepper.

I'm going to try the meatloaf tonight that VeryFlummoxed posted a while back. Looking forward to it!

StuntNun · 16/06/2017 10:22

Does your MIL undermine you with everything Jiminny or just around diet. Do you think she's feeling threatened because she has always regarded you as "the fat one" and used your being overweight to make herself feel better about her own weight? Now you're doing something about it then in her twisted head it means that she's the fat one now and she can't take feeling like that. Well done for staying strong through carby temptation and all that bullying from your MIL. You're going to have the best revenge at your wedding when you're looking lovely and svelte and glamorous; you can say to her, isn't it a good thing I didn't eat all that carby crap you kept pushing on me? For more information on people sabotaging your weight loss check out this meticulously researched article from Cracked.

ASDismynormality · 16/06/2017 10:22

jiminny. Well done for standing your ground and for your partner speaking up for you. Must admit I do like Nanados lemon and herb sauce - going to recheck the carb count.
I'm sure your MIL is frustrated you are losing weight and not in her way. It sounds like dieting on slimming world is a way of life for her and she can't accept any other way even when it doesn't quite work for her.

WaaWaaWaaa · 16/06/2017 10:30

Jimminy - well done you. Perhaps you ought to ask her how many SYNS are in the fish, chips and Cheesecake! Surely she shouldn't be having those either. And who in their right mind feeds people who have said they have already eaten??? Very peculiar. I should think that she only has to look at you to see how well you have done. You deserve a medal! :)

B - None
L - Not sure
D - Bacon lardons with mushrooms wiht a cream sauce and courgetti.

Namaste Bitches XXX

ChesterDrawers · 16/06/2017 10:47

I've just had a delivery from my very favourite (and very expensive) shop as they are having a sale, which is the only time I allow myself to have a look.

I bought these trousers in a 14 and, although they are a bit tight, I am keeping them and am going to use them as my measurement outfit. I WILL be wearing them by the end of bootcamp. Also got too lovely tops so feeling very happy Grin
