I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation!

Remember, week 4 is, like week 3, a time when weight loss tends to be pretty slow, if not non-existent. KOKO and persevere, and things will get going again soon.

But not if you cheat! Whilst many of you have been very honest about your transgressions, just remember that this WOE is not a very forgiving one. It's not like a calorie-controlled diet, where you can compensate for one 'bad' day with a 'good' one. As some of you have already found out the hard way!

Can you not buy a travel cool bag Cherries? I have put hard boiled eggs and veg in one before and they stay fresh for hours. I've never poisoned myself. Otherwise salami that's sealed? Even babybel in a cool bag would be good. I have something like this

Mandelinka · 14/06/2017 22:57

Food today:
B: mashed egg with mayo, spring onion, cheese. Celery and radishes to dip
L: chicken soup
D: was starving so ended up eating pretty much a whole avocado while cooking the dinner. Weather was glorious so had our dinner in the garden - salad, cheese, beef mince, tomatoes. DH and DS had tacos with the above
S: apricot and v small apple. 100 ml of white wine, spoon of peanut butter

Water about 2.5 l

Hattieboomboom · 14/06/2017 23:11

Thanks so much Jimminy - makes sense. And explains why I've had so many grotty days, particularly last week. It's my liver pleading with me for a bit of consistency!

shittymctwatface · 14/06/2017 23:29

Not bacon too! Confused ax to why pork scratchings are ok though - hey ho!

Does anyone have any substitutions for me?!

Veryflummoxed · 15/06/2017 02:00

Shitty bacon is allowed but its processed so in moderation. I.e. Processed food at no more than one meal a day and not every day. Some pork scratchings have additives so come under the processed heading. However some are just pork fat/skin and salt so are ok. As someone who has scratchings occasionally I think most people would find them hard to over eat.

Tried to catch up! Thanks Boldly, I will give it a go but I think I'll stick to a "normal" cake for DP's birthday in case it goes Pete Tong. Naschkatze hope you feel better. You too Heman and hope your weekend is uneventful - awful news yesterday, I'm not surprised you're angry & worried. Daisy, I'd just echo what the others have said, that rate of weight loss sounds good to me! I am stuck at 10 stone and want to get down to at least 9.5 stone and it's hard! I know that even with this WOE, if I don't do a workout most days, the scales don't move when I weigh in. But then I think if I can eat like this for the foreseeable future and keep at the same weight, that's alright by me! Jiminy, great cholesterol results.

Food for today - fry up at local cafe with my friend for brunch (sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms). Have salady bits/cheese/pate if I need a snack later. Out for dinner tonight for DP's birthday but I've checked the menu and there's plenty of steak/burger (without bun or chips) with salad options. Will probably have one gin & slimline or poss 1 small glass dry white wine. Plenty of chilled fruit tea in the fridge and have had a coffee with Lactofree. Will have a coffee with cream in the cafe. Doing a Jillian Michaels Bodyshred Level 3 in a bit when everyone else wakes up.

MOIST · 15/06/2017 06:21

Well. That'll teach me. Feel like complete crap.

littlebillie · 15/06/2017 06:40

2lbs up today is it the heat

JiminnyCricket · 15/06/2017 06:55

Omg.

OMG.

I just jumped on the scale... THERE'S A 15 ON IT!!! GrinShockGrinStar

Considering on New Year's Day 2017 that was a 19 and that it was a 15 9 years ago when I met DP.. im feeling pretty fab Grin

My lowest ever adult weight was 12st 13lbs and I'm actually feeling like that might be possible again before the wedding! Ultimate Goal is 10 stone anything, but if I'm back at 12 something for the wedding I'll be ecstatic!

Menu for today:

B: coconut coffee
L: broccoli and Stilton soup, antipasti
D: chicken stir fry made with peanut butter, spy sauce, ginger and garlic. Stir fry veg is the tender stem broccoli one from Morrisons.

OldBooks · 15/06/2017 06:57

Jiminny that's amazing!! StarStarStar you are such an inspiration. I keep thinking if I can just stick to this WOE, look at Jiminny, that could be me.

Naschkatze · 15/06/2017 07:10

Amazing Jiminny! Well done! Star

ilovecherries · 15/06/2017 07:19

Yay, go you, Jim. That's fantastic.

CodLiverOil556 · 15/06/2017 07:24

Well done Jiminy, it's an amazing feeling when the scales start reflecting your hard work Star

SayrraT · 15/06/2017 07:31

Woohoo! Well done.

I feel awful today, basically because I was an idiot and ate stuff I shouldn't.

First slip since January so that might be why I feel extra awful!

cabbage67 · 15/06/2017 07:31

Star Jim

ragz134 · 15/06/2017 07:32

Excellent Jimminy. So nice to see a new number!
I've been a higher weight all week, but I think it's water retention due to the heat. It is slowly coming down, but a 1.6lb jump was a bit of a shock (glad I weigh daily and can see it moving down again).

Lunch today is a Lidl protein roll with cheese and salad.
Dinner will be whatever DH cooks, I am hoping for curry or chili.

I'm on a new placement this week (student nurse) and it's quite long hours compared to being at uni so we are all struggling a bit with the new routine. Kids have inset day tomorrow and Monday (nice long weekend but bad timing) and I am hoping to take them strawberry picking tomorrow and swimming at some point.

StuntNun · 15/06/2017 07:44

Jiminny are you kidding, those cholesterol results are fantastic. You've been eating a high fat diet for months and your lipid profile is much improved, especially impressive given that it was already pretty good before you started. Next time someone asks you whether it's okay to eat so much fat you can whip out the paper with your results and wave it in their face. Well done on your 15 on the scales, what a great motivation.

Just wondering if anyone (BIWI?) can explain what happens, whilst on a low carb diet, when you eat slightly too many carbs? Does our body stop burning fat for energy and switch to glycogen because we've allowed a bit to be made? If so, is that bit of glycogen used and then we just revert back to fat-burning mode?
Yes Hattie that's pretty much it. If you eat more carbs than you will use immediately then the glucose is stored as glycogen (along with lots of water causing a big jump on the scales). Once you use up the glycogen then you'll be back into fat burning. The key though is metabolic flexibility. If you're overweight or insulin resistant then it will be difficult for your body to switch back from carb burning to fat burning and you'll feel hungry, cravings, etc. Once you've been following this way of eating for a few months then you will have regained some metabolic flexibility and the occasional higher carb meal doesn't derail you in the same way. The process of adapting to a low carb diet is pretty complicated in the effects it has on the cells, organs, hormones and systems of your body. If you eat carbs during the adaption process then it undoes a lot of the changes that have taken place and it ends up taking a lot longer to get the benefits. That's why cheating in the first two weeks is particularly problematic.

This was shared on another thread and I thought I'd post it here. Really interesting advice about when you fall off the wagon I know there is no wagon!

Well done Jim Star

I feel dreadful. Think it's my sinuses again. And I've got a million things to do today. Not good

knottyhair · 15/06/2017 08:21

Congrats Jiminy, fab! MOIST hope you feel better. Sinuses are a bastard.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 15/06/2017 08:23

Well done jiminny!
Peanut butter in a stir fry is such a good idea!

YoLoZammo · 15/06/2017 08:29

Cheer up moist it will all work out in the end! Whatever is stressing you, don't seek solace in wine or carbs. Obvious and easy to say, I know. Can you do one of those 5 min mindfulness videos on YouTube. I find them great for just calming down, refocusing and reducing stress and anxiety. Really do give them a try.Flowers

AdalindSchade · 15/06/2017 08:42

I am feeling super positive today. Scales are moving down again (week 5 for me) and I don't feel tempted to eat carbs at all. I'm not bored of the food yet and I feel so much healthier.
The only things that are bothering me are the menstrual weirdness (7 days of full on period so far, not normal for me at all, and only 2.5 weeks after the last one) but hoping that will settle down, and poo. I'm pooing every day (sorry for tmi) which is good but it's not easy to go. I feel like I'm not having enough fibre or something although I'm eating salad and green veg twice a day. Any advice? Is fybogel full of sugar?
The other poo side effect I have noticed is that it's not smelly! (Sorry again)

boldlygoingsomewhere · 15/06/2017 08:45

Well done, jiminny! That's a great result.

I'm in that awkward place of only need to lose about 7-10lbs and it is like pulling teeth. I'm really having to focus on the health benefits of this way of eating to keep my motivation up. Smile

Veryflummoxed · 15/06/2017 08:55
