I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your delectation!

Remember, week 4 is, like week 3, a time when weight loss tends to be pretty slow, if not non-existent. KOKO and persevere, and things will get going again soon.

But not if you cheat! Whilst many of you have been very honest about your transgressions, just remember that this WOE is not a very forgiving one. It's not like a calorie-controlled diet, where you can compensate for one 'bad' day with a 'good' one. As some of you have already found out the hard way!

Thanks everyone, will up my drinking and add more salt to my food. Just made some ganache type things so looking forward to having one of those.

Just done Day 3 of insanity and everything aches, muscles I didn't even realise I had ache Shock

Sat through a SW meeting having lost 11.5lbs in 3 weeks, knowing I'm eating all the things these ladies are craving, feeling a bit smug and also aghast just how high carb the SW diet is. I used to eat about 300g of carbs everyday sometimes more!

ilovecherries · 14/06/2017 20:18

Herman, either stick it in the neck of the bottle and leave for an hour, or if you are desperate, just pour sparkling water on top and stir.

HemanOrSheRa · 14/06/2017 20:20

Was there lots of clapping Kermit? Grin

CodLiverOil556 · 14/06/2017 20:21

Ha ha yeah! And weird and wonderful ways of using free foods. Corn flake chicken anyone?

ilovecherries · 14/06/2017 20:21

I'm sold on roast turnip! Delicious - everyone liked it.

B:none
L: chicken and mozerella salad (spinach, lettuce, celery, cucumber, shallot)
D: lamb chop with mint butter, roast turnip, roast Brussels.
S: none
Water: 3 L and still drinking.

HemanOrSheRa · 14/06/2017 20:21

Thank you ilove Smile. I'm going to make it now and put it in the fridge ready for what looks like a very hot day here tomorrow.

Asmoto · 14/06/2017 20:26

There are lots of people at work doing SW and it is incredibly carby - mounds of pasta and low fat yoghurts (18 carbs per 100g compared to 5 carbs in my full-fat yoghurt).

HemanOrSheRa · 14/06/2017 20:36

I've done SW with great success to be fair. But the weight all goes back on eventually, obviously, as with all of these things. It just stopped working for me. I don't think it's helpful long term if you lack portion control and are able to consume VAST quantities of carbs. I could easily eat 250g (uncooked weight) of pasta for example. And then there is the endless clapping at meetings Grin. Although I have to say I did make southern fried chicken using weetabix and lots of spices as a coating and it was really nice. Sorry SadGrin.

Veryflummoxed · 14/06/2017 20:43

Glad you enjoyed them Ilove they're my favourite roasted root veg I think.

JiminnyCricket · 14/06/2017 20:59

I have my cholesterol results, below is the before and after 4 months of LCHF:

Total: 185 - 188
LDL: 104 - 81
HDL: 51 - 77
Triglycerides: 150 - 150

So not massively exciting really! My cholesterol was good anyway, only issue was my HDL was too low but that's now bang on and my LDL is super duper low which is a bit of a shock now I'm eating so much more fat Hmm

Triglycerides were completely stable but all in all, the nurse says it's a cracking set of results considering my weight Smile

Hattieboomboom · 14/06/2017 21:07

Just wondering if anyone (BIWI?) can explain what happens, whilst on a low carb diet, when you eat slightly too many carbs? Does our body stop burning fat for energy and switch to glycogen because we've allowed a bit to be made? If so, is that bit of glycogen used and then we just revert back to fat-burning mode?

YoLoZammo · 14/06/2017 21:13

Loving all these food pics!

Jim that is how I'm doing my pork belly from now on! And we'll done on the cholesterol.

JiminnyCricket · 14/06/2017 21:13

Hattie exactly that. Once you reach the threshold for your carbs, you'll refill your glycogen stores and need to use them all back up before you go back through adaption into ketosis. You can speed this up by fasting, or doing intense HIIT cardio but yes, you'll switch off fat burning and only burn those glycogen stores until you run out again.

Unfortunately, if you do this in the first couple of weeks you can end up never getting into reliable ketosis and it will take you a lot longer to get back into ketosis, and every time will come with the dreaded side effects. However, some long term LCHF'ers report being able to switch between glycolysis and ketosis without huge stalls or much carb flu, but it can take 6 months to hit that stage.

Just to put it in perspective: if I kick myself out of ketosis badly (over 50g carbs in 12 hours), my weight can stall for anything from 5 days to 3 weeks, and I go through full on keto flu every single flipping time I try to get back into ketosis!

BIWI · 14/06/2017 21:17

I see I don't need to answer any questions this evening Grin

Today's food log.

B: creamy coffee, 2 egg mayo with cheese
Resisted choc biscuits at work event.
L: ham and cream cheese with prebought salad. It had some peppers, sweetcorn and beetroot in which I suppose is not great.
S: mini pepperami
D: chicken and curried veg
Might have a decaf creamy coffee and a truffle later.

Water intake is good today.

OldBooks · 14/06/2017 21:20

Adalind, Cleareyes, thanks for checking the cauliflower cheese. Now I feel stupid and annoyed that I have unwittingly overeaten today. I was doing so well since I put on 5lbs by eating 2 chips
on Sunday 😫 maybe by the end of BC I will manage to get the hang of not slipping up, keep my body in ketosis, and stop losing and regaining the same sodding 5lbs over and over

Kermit you must be itching to say something.
It's best to keep quiet. I have a feeling anything you said to the SW people would not go down well. Grin

JiminnyCricket · 14/06/2017 21:28

oldbooks the caulk cheese is fine! It's only 4.6g per 100 so if you had 400g as a meal that's perfectly ok!

I don't know why that posted twice.
My other post has disappeared!

C4pinkwheels · 14/06/2017 21:33

Sorry I've been out with some friends today so haven't had time to catch up on the thread

Food today

B: 2 boiled eggs with cheese and butter
L: lettuce, celery, olives and Stilton
D: chicken breast with roast veggies

Naschkatze · 14/06/2017 21:36

Thank you for all the cheese sauce tips - I think possibly not heating/beating it enough. I will try them all out next time and report back!

Loving all the food porn pics. The pork belly looks and sounds amazing. I've never eaten it! I think I'm going to have to rectify that soon.

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 14/06/2017 21:36

ILoveKermit Bad breath can be really good
from Diet doctor
On a strict low-carb diet some people experience a characteristic smell from their breath, a fruity smell that often remind people of nail polish remover.

The smell is from acetone, a ketone body. This is a sign that your body is burning lots of fat and even converting lots of fat to ketones to fuel the brain. You are a fat-burning machine

Got to the site for more information.

styledilemma · 14/06/2017 21:46

A good day today.

B - Total yoghurt and small handful of mixed berries
S - Coconut & egg muffin in a ramekin
L - Sardines and a 'potato' cake made from courgettes, cauli and swede
D - Stirfried chicken and mixed vegetable, done in coconut oil

Creamy coffee
Fruit tea, sparkling water & ice (the person who suggested this is a genius)

About cravings.

I have had cravings for fatty foods, which I've given in to a few times, but I can honestly say that I have had zero cravings for anything sweet.
The only reason I can think of for that is that I don't allow myself any chocolate or cake or anything sweet (other than a few very 'tart' fruits such as raspberries and blackcurrants)
I'm convinced that allowing yourself a few small squares of chocolate here and a couple of bites of desert there merely sets up a craving for more.
Sugar is a drug to some people

Sorry if that sounds a bit preachy, but It's the first time in my life that I've never had cravings for sweet things and actually don't miss those things either and I'm sure that complete abstinence (at least at this stage) is what's helping me.

cabbage67 · 14/06/2017 21:49

Evening all.

I've got really heavy achy legs today like I had in the first week.

B: 50g strawberries and whipped cream
L: mushroom, leek and bacon frittata with coleslaw
D: 2 sausages and broccoli and cauliflower cheese
3 litres water
1 square of 85% choc

I used to hate the going round the group at SW to see if they'd lost or gained. it would take an age and all everyone wanted to do was go home and stuff their faces
