My goodness Smile I don't think we've ever had a second thread in week 2!

Anyway, the last thread is full, so let's carry on the chatting here until the new thread on Monday!

Kittens how horrible, I hope you and your son are ok.

Survived spinning! It was hard, but I expected that having not been for weeks. What was unexpected was my sweat smelling very pungent - not like usual body odour, almost ammonia like. Googling seems to suggest this is quite common if exercising in ketosis. I think my breath smells too Blush

I am making low carb flax bread for tomorrow's breakfas. Think I could do with a blast of fibre....
BIWI my plan is to slice and freeze it to avoid gorging so please don't get the stick out just yet!!

CodLiverOil556 · 04/06/2017 15:42

Hi everyone, can't believe I've survived 2 weeks! I'm not too sure how to carry on...whether to do bootcamp or do a hybrid. So far I've been having 15-20g of carbs every day. Will it stuff up my hard work if I go up to 50g some days?

I'd like to introduce some berries into my vile tasting Greek yogurt

Loved seeing all your fur baby pics, I have a tortoise called Gary who doesn't give very good cuddles!

BIWI · 04/06/2017 15:49

ilovekermit - that's a very low amount of carbs - why so low? (And why are you counting them - that's not Bootcamp! Grin)

To be honest, the only way you'll find out if 50g carbs is too much is by trying it out.

And Bootcamp Light isn't automatically about introducing masses more carbs into your diet - it's just a slight relaxation, in that you will be able to eat some fruit occasionally and some nuts/seeds occasionally and drink some alcohol occasionally.

What some people do is a hybrid - so Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

@BIWI I'm not sure why I went so low but have found it quite easy. I was doing SW and had quite a carb heavy diet which, in hindsight, made me feel sluggish and tired.

I'm getting all my carbs from veggies so will carry on doing what I'm doing.

Mandelinka · 04/06/2017 16:11

HemanOrSheRa
Your yoghurt looks delish!
I used to make yoghurt in my slow cooker during my Dukan days.

RedBeanie · 04/06/2017 16:17

Is the purpose of strict boot camp to set in ketosis quicker and lose more weight? So if you started with BClite would that just mean you lose weight more slowly, or would you not enter ketosis because the carb count isn't low enough?

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 04/06/2017 16:18

So running results - definitely a PB, waiting for an official time, but it'll be about 3-4 mins off my previous best! Yay!

Celebrated with babybels and pepperamis, lol.

styledilemma · 04/06/2017 16:34

I'm sat eating a very nice Asda full fat greek set yoghurt.
There is an even nicer pot of M & S extra thick double cream in the fridge.
Why am I eating the yoghurt when there's CREAM? Hmm
Is full fat greek yoghurt less calories than double cream?
If it isn't, why are we eating the yoghurt when we could be eating cream?
Is it really so bad to sit and eat a whole tub of cream, when we're eating a whole tub of full cream yoghurt?
You can tell I'm trying to convince myself Grin I WANT that cream

styledilemma · 04/06/2017 16:35

kermit I've come to the end of my two weeks this evening, so I'm glad you asked this question.

styledilemma · 04/06/2017 16:36

I'd like to introduce some berries into my vile tasting Greek yogurt

I second that Smile

explodingkittens · 04/06/2017 16:38

Thanks all, we are fine apart from my stinking hangover

Have just put a beef brisket into the oven, cooking slowly with lots of stock, herbs and veg, think I might do some cauli mash with it tonight with plenty of cream and butter.

cookingongas sorry to hear about your chicks Sad

ilovecherries · 04/06/2017 16:40

Cooking, that's horrible, what a shame. And Kittens, WTF are some people on. There was a guy screaming at a young woman with P plates trying to parallel park in our village's (very narrow) main street on Friday. He was throwing a stream of verbal abuse at her at the top of his voice just because she didn't get in first time. She looked younger than my daughter and was crying by the end. A couple of passers by told him to cool off but that was just making it worse. The butcher eventually popped out and parked it for her, but it was awful, and you are so powerless in the moment. Then of course he screamed off in his 4x4 at high speed in a 20 zone. Arse :(

Yddraigoldragon · 04/06/2017 16:44

Anyone looked at the new Michael Mosley 'guts' book? Some really interesting stuff in there. I have been on lots af antibiotics in the last six months so I probably have no good bacteria left in my innards.

I am trying the proper apple cider vinegar and actually it is quite nice, a bit like the smells in a cider factory. Nice in lots of fizzy water.

He talks about your gut bacteria acting like a second brain, and driving your food choices. Worth a read.

BIWI · 04/06/2017 16:45

If you have yoghurt and cream - then the obvious answer is to mix them together!

Also, whilst not strictly Bootcamp, if you can get hold of some vanilla bean paste, a little smidge of that will help. (And when I say little, I mean little - less than half a teaspoon!)

BIWI · 04/06/2017 16:45

@RedBeanie - the idea of the first two strict weeks is to get you fat-adapted quickly; it's not so much about ketosis. You will still lose weight even if you're not in ketosis.

By doing it quickly you're 'forcing' your body to start burning fat rather than carbs.

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 04/06/2017 16:46

I think what I'm going to do is a very slight relaxation, but only by tiny amounts. So a few berries, but no bread substitutes because I'm not completely convinced that won't trigger me to want the real thing. Nuts only as a garnish now and then, not a regular thing, and no alcohol anyway because we're only half way through our year off, and no chocolate, because I'm not convinced I have a dial with chocolate, I think I may just have an off/on switch. So it's better off, for now at least.

ragz134 · 04/06/2017 16:55

Fell into a bag of chili peanuts earlier, feel rather bloated now. I'm going to skip dinner and have lots of water, with yogurt for when I get hungry later. Was trying to talk MIL out of giving up Chemo (she is 1/3 of the way through and feeling dreadful) and then sat and went through loads if old photos with her, which cheered her up a bit. So I just ate mindlessly. I did have chorizo and cheese for lunch. No veg today and doesn't look like I'll get any later. Will make up for that tomorrow. Was shocked at kale being 10g carbs, I had assumed as a green leafy veg it was really low. Kale was my go to veg, so I'm a bit miffed...

MOIST · 04/06/2017 16:57

I miss fruit.

ragz134 · 04/06/2017 17:00

Ddraig - I have just read that, very good and of course I have since been eating live yogurt all week and feeding the kids probiotics! Lent it to a friend and she was fascinated, she cooked a few recipes from it and said they were gorgeous.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 04/06/2017 17:02

I think I will do Bootcamp 80% of the time and Bootcamp light the other 20% but not necessarily at the weekend - I have numerous work events during the week where the light version would come in handy.

I find it is fairly easy to keep to the strict rules at the weekend for breakfast and lunch, so that still leaves me a weekend dinner or two to do the light version.

StuntNun · 04/06/2017 17:04

Seriously peeps, stop worrying about ketosis! There is no on/off switch for ketosis, there is a range from deep ketosis to no ketosis. You don't need to be in ketosis to lose weight on a low carb diet. Bootcamp is not the same as a ketogenic diet, especially once you're on Bootcamp Light. You just need to follow BIWI's carefully designed and thoroughly tested rules in order to lose weight. No calorie counting and no carb counting required.

Yddraigoldragon · 04/06/2017 17:29

Ragz I haven't tried the recipes, that is good to know. Found the vinegar in sainsbury, also found kefir by the milk which is really nice. The cherry flavour is at least. Will probably try to make some soon.

BIWI · 04/06/2017 17:31

Just check the carb counts of that kefir - I looked at it yesterday and it's really quite high!

OP posts:
BIWI · 04/06/2017 17:35

The lowest is 4.4g carbs per 100ml - but the bottles are 250ml, so if you drank a whole bottle (which would be easy to do, as 250ml isn't very much) that would be 11.25g carbs.

Yddraigoldragon · 04/06/2017 17:35

Biwi Vanilla bean paste has sugar in it. Sainsbury do a vanilla extract that doesn't. Have also found a huge bottle of it in Costco without sugar, was lovely, I put it in coffee with cream :)
I know the amount used is generally small but I am a sugar addict and would get back into bad habits if not careful
