I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

That's the one stunt! I go by the recipe and it's not to 'eggy' for me. You need to keep in fridge though and I always toast it as it is fab with melted butter and marmite or avocado or pate Smile

Oliversmumsarmy · 29/05/2017 19:26

Waa, I'm going on holiday in three weeks as well. I decided that there would always be a reason not to start, so I just went 'sod it' and jumped in. My intention (at the moment) is to continue with boot camp on holiday - fortunately we are in a villa, and it seems to have a reasonable kitchen. Cooking isn't a hassle for me though, so I'm happy to cook even on holiday. I'm putting together a little spice collection to pack in my case, and I'm hoping there will be plenty of the right things in the local shops. Much harder if you aren't self catering though,

nekobus · 29/05/2017 19:37

Jiminny thanks for the dog pics! Those faces Grin

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 19:39

Recipe please ilovecherries Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 19:42

Eek! I love Basset Hounds. They are all squishy and cute. I love their pudgy paws Smile. Look at their ears! Lovely photo.

I'm having Buffalo chicken wings for dinner with blue cheese dip. If I get called out before I've eaten I shall be very cross Angry. Your carbonara looks lovely ilove. Did you follow a recipe or just wing it?

Naschkatze · 29/05/2017 19:49

Thank you ilovecherries. I had to screenshot your message so I don't forget any of the tips.
Would also love a recipe for your courgette carbonara!

Really not hungry this evening so having a 'dinner' of celery sticks and cream cheese and yoghurt. Blush

Meal plan for the week done. Might have to embrace shopping in Aldi but I find the speed of checkout with baby in tow a bit stressful! If only they did self serve.

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 19:54

For the Carbonara, world? It's dead easy. I was cooking for 4 tonight.

Big slice of butter in frying pan.
To that, I added to 8 sliced mushrooms, pack of asparagus (the stems cook well too, so I used all of it), pack of pancetta cubes, 4 crushed garlic cloves and half a teaspoon of dried oregano. Let it all sauté on a low heat till everything is soft and the bacon and mushrooms are starting to crisp up.
Meanwhile, spiralize 1 courgette per person
In a second pan, melt another slice of butter and add the courgetti on a medium heat. You need to watch the courgetti at this point, it cooks very quickly, and I keep it moving with tongs.
At the same time as the courgetti is cooking, add at least half a bag of shredded spinach to the bacon mixture - fresh is better, frozen makes it a bit wet. Stir in a small tub of double cream, and bring up to the boil. When the creamy, bacon-ey mixture is piping hot, pour it over the cougetti and stir well.

Season to taste. Serve with grated Parmesan and freshly ground pepper. Even my DD's boyfriend loved it, and he's quite picky.

Evening everyone

Not had much appetite today, which is very rare for me.

B- peppered smoked mackerel fillet, 1 fried egg and mushrooms fried in butter.1 cup of team with a smidge of skimmed milk
L- slice of parma ham, couple of slices of chorizo, pate on celery and a few tomatoes with mozzarella in oil.
D- roast chicken broccoli and cauliflower cheese, made using cream, cream cheese and cheese.
S- coffee with cream
3 litres of water so far

I didn't post any meals last week but thought I was eating ok, so please SOMEONE tell me if I'm doing anything wrong.

Thanks for your help

AdalindSchade · 29/05/2017 20:03

B- fried eggs in butter
L- cauliflower, mushrooms and courgette with cheese
D- veggie sausages (5.5g carbs for 2) and salad with green beans (small portion)
S- too much ff yoghurt and double cream.
Big appetite today, got to get back into the swing of it

secretsignal · 29/05/2017 20:09

I love that sounds absolutely delicious and I really want to try it, I just can't get my head around being 'allowed' to eat such yummy food! I'm so used to the low fat message. Will make myself cook it Smile

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 20:15

That's why I as nearly crying, Secret. I've been low fat for years. Never touched cream, butter, bacon, chicken skin, fatty meat etc. I never ate anything with visible fat, ever. One cal cooking sprays, fat free yoghurt, low fat cheese, the lot. I put on 5 stone eating like that, and I was always hungry. I'm feeling quite emotional round food at the moment, I didn't realise how much I'd come to see it as the enemy. I was cooking this tonight, and thinking, I can't eat this. And I reminded myself that eating pasta with low fat philly and skinless chicken caused this problem. I'm actually terrified, I'm just trying to trust - and desensitise myself, I guess.

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 20:17

I ate belly pork last night, for the FIRST TIME in my life.

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 20:17

I was even eating egg white omelettes, FFS.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 20:19

Flowers ilovecherries

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 20:23

I found it completely eye opening last year when I did a high fat high protein low carb woe for the first time - I was tracking in MFP and eating more cals than when I was watching calories and continuing to eat carbs - and the weight dropped off me in a way it never has done with any other diet/woe.

I didn't add in butter and cream very much, so loving Bootcamp!

There was something on the TV this morning though, some nutritionist doing a taste test of yoghurts, and she was going on about all the saturated fat 'the big baddie' in Greek and FF yoghurts though, and I could feel myself getting more and more anxious and thinking, of god, she's right, what am I DOING? And then fretting that these are qualified nutritionists and dietitians, surely they must know what they are talking about. Was awful, would have switched if off, but didn't want to take the remote off a guest.

ShastaBeast · 29/05/2017 20:35

ilove- I totally get that. I have to check myself occasionally as it doesn't fit the learned logic. I've saved your recipe and the flax seed bread - I will challenge DH to make them. I'll try almond milk ice lollies tomorrow.

I'm still weeing loads, more than I'm drinking and I'm drinking plenty.

I have heart burn and this diet isn't helping so far. Carbs are good at soaking up the acid which probably contributed to weight gain.

Thanks for 16/8 feedback. I sometimes do it without meaning to but it's something to explore in the coming weeks, especially if it speeds up the loss. One more week and we are done on the first two weeks hardcore BC.

18g carbs, 99g fat, 96g protein.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 20:39

I've taken a screenshot of your carbonara recope ilove. I hope you don't mind? Smile. It is difficult to get your head around the high fat bit, I agree. They were doing a yogurt taste test of Country File last night and banging on about the high fat content of Greek yogurt Confused. It's everywhere and feels wrong for a while.

Food for today:

B - tomato, mozzarella and avocado with olive oil and basil. Two cups of tea with almond milk.

Mid morning creamy coffee.

L - prawn and hot smoked salmon salad with mayo.

D - Buffalo chicken wings, steamed asparagus and courgette with a dab of butter, blue cheese dip.

S - two babybels, handful of pork scratchings (despite breaking a tooth on them on Friday!)

Water - 3.5l so far.

Week 2 - Pre-summer low carb bootcamp
HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 20:41

Oh! X post with you there ilove!

secretsignal · 29/05/2017 20:42

I love I could have written that. I have never had belly pork either, have some in the fridge after reading about it on this thread and can't bring myself to cook it! Really must try to trust all the wisdom on here, but I agree it's terrifying!

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 20:44

Well, I have to tell you the belly pork was delicious ;). I marinaded it in olive oil, apple cider vinegar and spices, then open roasted it for 40 mins. It was amazing!

secretsignal · 29/05/2017 20:47

Ha ha! Will be copying your recipes this week! Just have to ignore the annoying voice telling me all the fat will make me fatter.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/05/2017 20:55

You must try pork belly secret. It is delicious and very filling. It's one of the best things about this WOE Grin.
