I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

3 glasses of red Shock. I am sorry but it was necessary.

Iwishicouldfly456 · 29/05/2017 21:18

I love, secret, I'm the same. Years of WW and sw has me brainwashed low fat hi carb. I too have fights in my head high fat is bad, switch back etc but 1 week has shown me the proof it works and 15 years of dieting that low fat way proves it doesn't work. I just need to koko and push through that fear!

Iwishicouldfly456 · 29/05/2017 21:18

And I can't wait to try pork belly

BloodInMyCaffeineStream · 29/05/2017 21:24

Right:
B: 2 black farmer sausages (lovely) 2 fried eggs (oil as DS is dairy allergic) tablespoon of tinned tomatoes
L: salmon fillet, large salad, delouis mayo and oil based dressing
D: crustless quiche Lorraine (without toms, i hate them) large salad, delouis mayo
S: leftover sausage, americano with ff milk.

Food isn't so much on my radar now. I nearly forgot lunch and that never happens Grin

BloodInMyCaffeineStream · 29/05/2017 21:25

12.6g carbs!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 21:25

Bologanise with cauliflower rice and grated mozzarella for dinner. Look forward to trying the carbonara soon!

Mandelinka · 29/05/2017 21:27

Jiminny
You look rather sexy with your mask, I'm a sucker for brown eyes.

Ilove
Your Courgetti Carbonara looks delish

ClearEyesFullHearts · 29/05/2017 21:29

2 lbs up, but I'm more flummoxed than disappointed. Will update the spreadsheet myself next time I'm on laptop (instead of phone--doesn't seem to work).

Trying to figure out what I need to change, as I've been sticking to the plan. Other than a few vodka sodas, it's been spot on, and the vodka sodas contain no carbs.

I know we will burn alcohol before burning fat, so it's possible that's where it went wrong, but even then I wouldn't expect a gain, would expect no change instead.

On the other hand I'm very much celebrating an inch loss around the waist and having to go to the next (tighter) hook on my bra.

Even with this gain it's a 22 lb weight loss since October, so I'm on the right track.

Well done to all, regardless of results, for being here and working toward improved health and happiness.

BIWI · 29/05/2017 21:34

You really, really, really must embrace the fat!

Please have a read of some of the resources on the spreadsheet, which explain why fat is not the devil it's been made out to be.

"Escape the Diet Trap" by Dr John Briffa is a really good book - buy it/borrow it. It's easy to read and is a really good explanation of how we've all been misled about fat.

Mandelinka · 29/05/2017 21:39

This was our dinner, Jamie's chicken and cream spinach. Tons of garlick

DH and DS (3.5 picky eater) both enjoyed it, they shared tray of smashed garlic potatoes as a side.
There is a small portion of chicken and spinach left for my lunch for tomorrow. Yay!

4.3 for me which I'm delighted with as I had leaving drinks at work on weds and have been at ILs since Friday which has involved the stress of a long journey and not really having much say in food. Here til next weekend, but out and about for a large chunk of the week hopefully a bit more control.

OldBooks · 29/05/2017 21:53

Today's food:
B: cream cheese pancake with mashed avocado topping
L: tofu with salad
T: cauliflower and broccoli bake (lashings of butter with some cheddar)
S: the odd spoon of double cream here and there

Big shop being delivered tomorrow, have reduced the amount of dairy in the order and will see if cutting that down helps a bit. Will probably still have some babybels or similar in the fridge at work for emergency snacking

Does anyone else doing this BC have PCOS? I ask because so far it is affecting my "cycle" and wondered if anyone else had a noticeable effect.

nekobus · 29/05/2017 21:54

I'm noting down lots of great recipes today on here!
Ilove - cauliflower steaks what a great idea, I have a cauli waiting and ready
Mandelinka where is your Jamie's chicken recipe from?

ilovecherries · 29/05/2017 21:56

I think, for me, I'm 'getting' the fat at a cognitive level. Plus at a practical level, I'm eating the stuff, so I'm being compliant. But despite getting it, there is still this little voice shrieking stop, don't eat that! I'm hoping as I KOKO and nothing bad happens, then the voice will get calmer and it won't make me feel so anxious

marioncole · 29/05/2017 21:59

Can't weigh in because I'm on holibobs. I've stuck to plan though and done a crazy amount of walking, so if I haven't lost a decent amount then there will be hell to pay Angry

boldlygoingsomewhere · 29/05/2017 22:01

oldbooks, I have PCOS. One of the revelations about this WOE is how it has regulated my cycle and lightened my periods. I don't get period spots anymore either.

thenightsky · 29/05/2017 22:04

MiL came for dinner. She is diabetic and her best friend has been attending the pre-diabetes clinic. Her friend has been told to move to LC diet, so MiL pricked up her ears when I said I'd last around a stone since mid-January on LC. Apparently Weetabix is low carb, as long as she doesn't add her normal chopped banana to it Hmm

There's some weird info being given out by HC professionals for sure.

secretsignal · 29/05/2017 22:08

Thanks BIWI, I am pretty ignorant about this woe. Still very positive just fighting the fear. Will head to the spreadsheet and get better informed Smile

L238 · 29/05/2017 22:13

Had cauliflower mash with pork belly for dinner - had made it before when dabbling with LC diets but never liked it much as it was too wet & puréed. It came out well tonight, more like potato mash (in texture, not so much in taste!).

Here's what I did in case it's useful for anyone else:

Cooked the florets really well and squeezed as much water out as possible after draining (heavy object in a bowl pressing down on the colander).
Left it to dry out for a bit longer as it cooled and then reheated in microwave to steam off more moisture.

Blended till very smooth in the processer with some mascarpone (no cream left) and seasoning but no milk.

Really happy with this - maybe not one for a quick weeknight dinner but I had time today. I've read recipes online that add cheese to mask the cauli funk but I don't mind the taste if the texture is right

WaaWaaWaaa · 29/05/2017 22:16

I love - can't wait to try summer of your recipes!!! Carbonara is one of my faves! 😍😍😍

ShastaBeast · 29/05/2017 22:16

I have polycystic ovaries too. I haven't had a natural period for a long time. Had a copper foil fitted so some spotting and hoping to learn what my natural cycle really is. I know weightloss can be harder with it but not the mechanisms behind it. I conceived both kids while dieting.

Veryflummoxed · 29/05/2017 22:28

SayrraT Grin
Well done Ilove these are the reasons I love LCHF
Waa three weeks of this can make a lot of difference and you can come back to the thread again after Spain.
That's the one I, or rather dh used Stunt. He halved the eggs the second time which I did prefer. Not so cakey
Loving all the photos; dogs, food and eyes
Shasta interestingly I find this diet cures my indigestion the only exception being no cream for a couple of hours or so before bed.

B egg muffins and dressed leaves
L left over curried belly pork
D 2 low carb sausages (and yes they hit the spotGrin) ratatouille, and buttered cauliflower and cabbage.

I was out for tea this afternoon with friends. They all had cream teas (scones, jam, cream). I had black tea and finished off the last teaspoon of clotted cream. I felt very virtuous and the cream tasted delicious.

styledilemma · 29/05/2017 22:45

I tasted pork belly once in a restaurant and it nearly made me sick.
There was too much soft, white fat surrounding the meat. I only like fat if it's really crispy>
Did they not cook it right? Should i give it another try?

thenightsky · 29/05/2017 22:47

styledilemma I have the same memories of Pork belly. Urgh.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/05/2017 22:48

That is my exact recall of pork belly too - and I don't like crackling either Shock
