I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

I will admit that I have been doing bootcamp in reverse. I started with BC light and now at the start of my second round I have switched to strict BC. I have only just cut out nuts, fruit and sweeteners (was still drinking Diet Coke). Still have a few stones to lose so will probably cycle between BC and light.

StuntNun · 01/06/2017 19:15

Style in my opinion carb cycling is more of a tool for bodybuilders or elite/professional athletes. Some people maintain their performance eating low carb all the time, others feel they need carb cycling to get the best results. What I do subscribe to is the concept of regular carb refeeds, particularly in someone who has been eating low carb for six months or more. This can be a planned "cheat" meal once a month or so, or it could be an accidental "cheat". It does depend on how long you've been eating low carb, how much weight you have lost, how much weight you have to lose, whether a cheat meal is likely to trigger you, whether your weight loss has stalled, etc. The process of adapting to a low carb way of eating does take several weeks so it's best to avoid higher carb foods entirely during your first Bootcamp.

StuntNun · 01/06/2017 19:22

RedBeanie I don't think intermittent low carbing would work. You would have to be very metabolically flexible to freely switch between carb-burning and fat-burning. It's likely that the increased carb intake on some days would lead to hunger and cravings on subsequent days. Some people might be able to maintain their weight like that but few would lose weight. When I was last at weight maintenance until pregnancy messed that up! I had a "cheat" day once a week where I could have one higher carb meal or one dessert. But I have to say that now I would probably reintroduce more of the higher carb fruits and vegetables and skip the high carb foods altogether - I've just got out of the habit of eating bread, pasta etc. and I don't miss them.

GinForTea · 01/06/2017 19:25

finally and clear most senna preparations have lactose in them. Fybogel is full of sweeteners. No idea what to suggest as I'm in the same boat Sad

MOIST · 01/06/2017 19:28

B. Cream coffee
L. Celery and cheese
D cabbage, courgette, spring onion, mushroom, tofu cooked in butter with ricotta stirred through
S. Cheese slice. Cream coffee.

40 lengths and I'm still cross and tetchy.

MOIST · 01/06/2017 19:29

And if we are discussing poo I'm not bound up but swear I delivered a 10 pounder down the lav this morning.

RedBeanie · 01/06/2017 19:33

That's what I thought Stunt, I agree it's not really a good solution, but I may try a version of it when things have stabilised.

B - creamy tea (yucky), Greek yoghurt
L - ready-cooked piri-piri chicken with salad
D - cauliflower cheese and left-over (failed) Quorn mince mess
S - creamy coffee (less yucky than creamy tea but also made me nauseaus), a couple of cocktail sausages

Had a headache most of the day, and feeling a bit light-headed. But I am a headache-y person anyway, so can't say it's ketosis for sure.

HemanOrSheRa · 01/06/2017 19:41

MOIST Grin. Congratulations!

C4pinkwheels · 01/06/2017 19:50

Style I have done low carb before then got derailed by a broken neck, when I reached my goal weight/size I ate LC all week and then ate more "normally" at weekends but no refined carbohydrates. I don't think it would work if you wanted to lose weight. I could easily gain 5lbs over a bank hol weekend.

Veryflummoxed · 01/06/2017 20:05

Daisy someone else may suggest differently, but I think if you cut the fats in the day you may end up eating more of the carby stuff.

StuntNun · 01/06/2017 20:05

Giulia Enders, author of Gut, recommends putting your feet up on a low stool to help with constipation. Apparently there's a kink in the large intestine when we sit down and this straightens it out.

RedBeanie · 01/06/2017 20:08

Silly question, but squirty cream ok?

ragz134 · 01/06/2017 20:10

My gain from camping weekend had gone this morning, so I'm happy. Despite my martial arts class last night being rather difficult in the heat. Usually I'm heavier the day after due to muscle damage inflammation and fluid retention (I presume).
Yesterday and today have been good, food wise. Managed to jump back into BC without cravings so obviously didn't go too mad over the weekend.

Swum for nearly 2 hours with the kids today, so more exercise - I haven't done much while on this WOE apart from our weekly karate. I walk a bit, for school runs when I do them but that's all.

Had some lovely meals, did celeriac dauphinoise Tuesday with my roast chicken. That was delicious as always. Made turkey stroganoff today, usually do it with beef but I get annoyed with the tough bits and have discovered turkey works really well. Served it on salad, usually have kale. It wasn't as nice as with kale.

Someone mentioned periods going weird, mine did when I started LC and losing weight. Have settled back to monthly now.
Best thing is, my period pains (and mid cycle, and random pelvic pain) are miles better after cutting out sugar. Hadn't expected that. But I get through a lot less codeine these days!

ragz134 · 01/06/2017 20:11

Red beanie- squirty cream often has sugar, so check ingredients. If it's just cream it should be fine.

ilovecherries · 01/06/2017 20:13

After saying the last few days that I was increasingly disinterested in breakfast, I was up all night last night with a sick old dog, so was tired and hungry this morning. It was the type of feeling that in the past I'd have dealt with with a pile of toast, several lattes from Starbucks throughout the day and a slice of cake at 3pm to keep me going. So I was pleased that I managed to stick to:
B: 2 sausages and two poached eggs on spinach
L: small bowl - about 50gms FF yog
D: two small roasted chicken thighs (skin on!) plus a huge salad of mixed leaves, olives, celerery, avocado, cucumber and crispy mushrooms, dressed with olive oil.

I did make myself a creamy coffee at 3pm but didn't drink it because I got caught up on the phone.

AdalindSchade · 01/06/2017 20:17

Mmm exploded babybel! Can you explode any other type of cheese?

ilovecherries · 01/06/2017 20:18

moist I'm so happy for you Grin

MrsDurrell · 01/06/2017 20:18

I'm on day 4 and I feel dreadful! My head is pounding and I feel queasy. I've had a mug of bouillon and 2 ibuprofen (no paracetamol in the house). How much longer before I feel ok? Don't give me worst case scenarios or I'll be medicating with a bag of Malteasers. I can't cope with feeling this terrible as I have 2 dc doing exams!

ilovecherries · 01/06/2017 20:24

Mrs Durrell, I felt a little odd at the end of day two, unwell-ish by the end of day 3. Day 4 and 5 were just awful. Felt much better by Day 6, just a little fragile, and on day 7 had a Come to Jesus moment. So hopefully you are nearly turning the corner, though I guess everyone is different.

AdalindSchade · 01/06/2017 20:28

Squirty cream not ok. Full of sugar and sweeteners

HemanOrSheRa · 01/06/2017 20:39

I have not really been hungry at all today. Only at meal times. I had thought about having a fry up for breakfast but wasn't that fussed - I faffed around taking bikini photos before work instead! I hope BIWI isn't too cross - I did have my lunch at 12pm. I've not been eating it until 1 - 1.30pm so far on BC. Which is a miracle in itself - I'm generally HANGRY at about 11am.

Two cups of tea and a litre of water first thing.

Lunch - 2 sausages, half tomato, 2 hard boiled eggs with some butter on and a spoonful of leftover cauliflower cheese. I was so full after this that I really thought I wouldn't be able to eat for the rest of the day.

Dinner: Panfried chicken breast with Mexican spice rub, green salad, a few olives and crumbled feta, olive oil, leftover guacamole. I've just eaten my dinner. My appetite is definitely dropping off.

No snacks.

Been really thirsty today so I've drunk 4l Shock.

RedBeanie · 01/06/2017 20:39

Not even this one? 2.6g carb per 100g ... or is there something else I ought to be checking in the ingredients other than carbs? Thanks :)

explodingkittens · 01/06/2017 20:50

Mmmm, dinner was lush this evening. Two duck legs with fabulously crispy skin, accompanied by a pile of spiralized courgette dressed with lots of extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Cut through the fattiness of the duck but still really rich and tasty.

Wouldn't usually have two duck legs but was cooking for 4 and two of 'em decided they wanted fish & chips instead, so what's a girl to do? Grin

AdalindSchade · 01/06/2017 20:59

Yes that one looks ok
