I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

For winter lunches, I take hot food. On Sundays, I cook a big pan of chicken or lamb curry, or a savoury mince. It keeps in the fridge for the week and I just take a portion everyday. Easy.

Don't bother with monitoring your carb intake at this stage. if you make it too complicated you will put yourself off. The rules are designed to be easy to follow.

imustbepatient · 01/06/2017 16:56

Yes, I found low carb stews / casseroles and soups were great for winter lunches, or left overs from the previous night's dinner.

Someone up thread asked about what cream cheese / soft cheese people use. I use the Waitrose essential one (via Ocado) as it is made from just milk and salt, nothing else, whereas eg Philly has a few fake / chemical type ingredients and I think is a bit higher in carbs. The Waitrose essentials one is 4g per 100g

Sunborn · 01/06/2017 17:05

Thanks, Daisy! I do feel better after the salt.

Does anyone have any good ideas for doing things with leftover roast chicken that increase the fat? I've been doing oily salads, but a bit tired of those.

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 17:13

Is anyone else horribly constipated?

Not horribly, but I know what you mean.
On the plus side I've had zero wind and bloating since I started this WOE.

Cookingongas · 01/06/2017 17:14

Sun- I made a creamy chicken alfredo with leftover roast this week, fried mushrooms, added cream, an the chicken chopped up, pepper and parsley. Mixed in courgetti topped with cheese, and baked til brown on top.

Naschkatze · 01/06/2017 17:15

Tesco full fat soft cheese is 1.8g carbs per 100g. I like it mixed with yoghurt and a touch of vanilla... can just about convince myself that I'm eating cheesecake Blush
I wonder whether it would freeze and become an ice cream substitute.

B - Keto muffins, mentioned by someone upthread. Satisfied the desire for something 'bready' when I woke up this morning. And I wondered whether they could be adapted to take the place of scones. I plan to do some experimenting.
L - Picnic for one (+baby, I love maternity leave!) Salami, chicken, leftover crustless quiche, cucumber and 5 baby plum tomatoes.
D - Burgers, courgette chips and salad. When DH gets home from work and cooks it because I'm trapped under a sleeping baby. Grin
S - creamy coffee, slice salami, piece of cheese.
Haven't eaten enough veg today, salad with dinner will have to be large!

Cookingongas · 01/06/2017 17:38

My dinner - spicy pork mince lettuce wraps . Just the thing to cheer me up Smile

Horribly, horribly constipated here. Even looked up colonic irrigation but decided against

Im drinking at least 500ml above my BC water targets and had being doing OK. Just recently, though, I think I have increased the proportion of meat I have been eating to veg (spinach, white cabbage etc) so am just lacking bulk. Had just spinach for breakfast this morning and am still not hungry... i had been adding a couple of teaspoons of flaxseeds and chia seeds since i first noticed on Monday, with no effect so far..

Shall add in yoghurt for probiotics thus evening and, if nothing has happened by bedtime, shall try a couple of prunes, my pre-LCHF most reliable remedy. Wish me luck, of course any suggestions very welcome

socialengineering · 01/06/2017 17:54

Just cooked pork belly but it was really tough, what am I doing wrong?

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 17:55

I can't believe I went for years eating low fat, tasteless disgusting cottage cheese (bleurgh) when all along I could have been eating lovely, full bodied cheese.

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 18:02

Plymouth my OH has started asking questions, about this strange diet you're on as well. He can't understand how I'm eating cream and butter and bacon and sausages and losing weight before his eyes.
Great isn't it? Smile

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 18:14

A question to those who have done this before:
When I get to bootcamp light, I'm thinking of baking keto muffins and maybe some low carb bread.
Will I have to limit my consumption of these? If so, by how much? Confused What are the guidelines?
Thanks.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 01/06/2017 18:15

FinallyHere I can personally recommend glycerine suppositories, especially if it's been a while and you're, erm, backed up. Very effective.

Also natural things like senokot (though I've no idea the sugar content). Good luck, I know it's miserable being constipated.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 01/06/2017 18:32

styledilemma, if you go to the OP there is a link to the spreadsheet, which contains the guidelines for Bootcamp Light as well as to Bootcamp.

The biggest difference I can see is that some fruit is allowed, and a quick scan revealed nothing re low carb breads.

Not sure if BCL (Bootcamp light) is simply allowing a for a slightly higher carb countthough there's no mention of counting carbs that I can seebut I do know I don't intend to do it after two weeks, simply because I have so much weight to lose I'd rather continue with bootcamp* until I have only a stone or two to lose. Then I'll be happier reintroducing more carb-laden foods and will have had more time to get a handle on simply avoiding carbs altogether.

I'm sure someone else will be along with better information.
*except for alcohol, which for me is zero carb vodka/soda, but I've been low-carbing since October and allow myself this exception, plus one teaspoon of xylitol in my tea or coffee, which I don't have every day.

I know that sounds like I'm cheating, but I have no sweet tooth to rid myself of, have been doing this successfully for a while, and consider it my own version of BCL.

Cleareyes I remember reading about the fruit and nuts in moderation, but don't recall any advice about bread and whether it's allowed and if so, how much?
I will have another look.

SayrraT · 01/06/2017 18:39

styled is probably best to limit low carb bread type things as although they will be lower carb than normal bread they are possibly still quite carby.

I'm on Day 11 of Strict Bootcamp and will be starting Bootcamp Light on Monday.
Would it be the end of the world if I had one teeny weeny small vodka and soda at the pub tonight? Or would it wreck everything? Should I stick to soda and ice Hmm
also scared of BIWI kicking my arse

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 18:41

Thanks SayrraT
Bread is my downfall. I can't imagine not including it in my diet ever again.

secretsignal · 01/06/2017 18:44

Keep waiting for appetite to drop, have been ravenous today and lethargic. Maybe it's a combination of the heat and the kids running me ragged (half term here)
B: fried egg and 2 rashers back bacon. Creamy coffee
L: fried halloumi on green salad with mayo
D: prawn and avocado salad with mayo
S: have worn a path to the fridge for the 'odd spoonful' of Total.

2 teas with almond milk, 2l water so far

PlymouthMaid1 · 01/06/2017 18:44

Jiminny... The alpro coconut milk is 2.7 which I am very pleased about. And ty to the poster above re cream cheese. No waitrose near me but good to know.

Just getting hungry for my tea which is so odd for me as I would have been chewing the furniture by fiveish normally. Haddock in cream and pesto, broc, giant mushrom and asparagus for tea.

secretsignal · 01/06/2017 18:45

Congrats on size 16 Jim, awesome milestone

Asmoto · 01/06/2017 18:48

I am going out for a meal tomorrow - Italian, thankfully, so dozens of bootcamp-friendly options (will probably go for prawn/avocado starter and chicken or steak in a cream-based sauce with veg). Terrified that I will succumb to the temptation of chips, though! Properly cooked, home-made chips are a real weakness of mine. Any tips for staying strong from the experienced boot campers?

styledilemma · 01/06/2017 18:55

Came across this. What do you make of Carb Cycling?
www.cutandjacked.com/Carb-Cycling-Made-Easy

I suppose my Hybrid Bootcamp Light (which I intend doing) is similar. i.e. I will be doing Bootcamp light on the 3 days I exercise, Monday, Tuesday and Friday and Strict Bootcamp on the remaining 4 days. Hmm

StuntNun · 01/06/2017 19:08

I get Subway quite often as my kids love it. I usually go for a steak and cheese salad with double steak. If we're eating at home then I don't get a dressing and use my own but if we're eating out then I go for chipotle on the basis that it's the highest calorie so probably has the most fat. I have been known to carry a tub of salad dressing in my handbag for "emergencies".

Adalind I use UHT milk to make my yogurt, pretty cheap if you buy a 6-pack at once. I keep back a bit from each batch to make the next batch so it works out cheaper than Lidl but tastes a lot nicer, especially when I can be arsed to strain it to make Greek yogurt.

I have that butter dish too Patient. My parents always kept butter out of the fridge when I was a kid so I'm used to doing it. It doesn't go off because it doesn't have any lactose in it so there's nothing for bacteria to eat.

Is anyone else desperate to see Jiminny in her new dress?

RedBeanie · 01/06/2017 19:11

Style that's kind of what I was wondering about doing Intermittent LC, so you restrict carbs half the week and then eat more moderately the rest of the week. I don't think it would be great if you're trying to lose a lot of weight, but should be ok for maintenance? Along the lines of 5:2.

I'm not sure if it would just confuse the body though, and you'd end up with insulin and sugar spikes, and feel lousy (more than) half the time.
