I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

By the way jiminy, your post has really spurred me on. Thank you

Flibbertyjibbit · 31/05/2017 18:06

Thanks wombattoo

Hoping I am more successful this time around, this thread is keeping me inspired and focused.

Liking your no wagon theory Jiminny, that makes a lot of sense.

DP is off on a work trip tomorrow so I won't have to worry about cooking a separate carb option for him for a week or two.

Nosocksevermatchup · 31/05/2017 18:27

So so fed up. I've put weight on. Stomach looks huge. I'm hoping it's my period. I've been irregular for a while now, so a bit unsure. I must confess, I had one tiny square of milka chocolate last night, surely this can't be the cause!? I've put the weight I lost last week back on.
Perhaps I need to increase my exercise? How much does everyone else do per week?

AdalindSchade · 31/05/2017 18:34

One square of chocolate won't make you gain weight. It's probably water weight from your period.

OldBooks · 31/05/2017 18:45

LOVE the wagon analogy Jiminy! Exactly how I feel about it. This is not a diet, it's a WOE. Even if I don't lose more weight I feel so much better in myself that I can't go back! And that's just in three weeks 😁

Naschkatze · 31/05/2017 18:52

Decided on crustless quiche for dinner, recipe from BBC good food, with roasted broccoli and courgette. It was delicious.

Feeling proud of my willpower today (sat in a cafe and just had fruit tea, despite the amazing cakes on offer) but haven't got to the stage others mention of where I don't want the cake/chocolate! Wink

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 19:04

I'm finding I'm still getting quite lightheaded.

Nashkatz, I've also had one or two episodes of feeling weak.
Strangely enough, as soon as I make myself a coffee with added cream or eat one of my homemade ice lollies which are 3/4 almond milk, 1/4 cream, I seem to perk up.
As soon as my body gets some extra fat I soon start to feel better.

The only thing I can think is happening (I could be wrong, I have no medical knowledge) is that because our bodies can't get energy from carbs (because we're eating so few) it has to get energy from fat. If we don't eat enough fat during this transition phase, then the body struggles and we get weak.
Once our bodies have adjusted, I'm hoping it won't happen as often. I was a bit sceptical at first at hearing you must eat lots of fat.
I now think there's a very good reason for it.

Naschkatze · 31/05/2017 19:11

Makes sense Style. Finding the lack of hunger odd though. I seem to go from feeling satiated, to lightheaded with no hunger signs in between! I've been trying to snack less but maybe I need to.

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 19:15

Nosocks what does your tape measure say? Do your clothes feel any tighter?
I've been reading how with some people it doesn't always show on the scales, but it shows when they measure themselves.
Try not to get despondent. I'm sure we will all hit plateaus aat some point, some sooner, some later.
I expect we have to try and plough through them the best we can. It's tough Flowers

lurknolinger · 31/05/2017 19:17

Celeriac dauphinois is really good too, made with loads of cream. I've just posted a recipe on the recipe thread.
Not posting much as it takes time just to keep up with this thread, but it's really motivating to hear everyone's stories. I've stuck to it so far and am really hoping to still be here at the end of week 10 to celebrate with you.

wombattoo · 31/05/2017 19:18

Nosocks It won't be the chocolate. It's likely to be period related. Exercise isn't necessary. I do none Grin
Stick with it, the weight will drop if you have stuck to all the rules.

explodingkittens · 31/05/2017 19:20

Wow, everyone is on fire today! Excellent to see so many inspiring posts, and good to see you redbeanies, jump in and enjoy Smile

So this morning I went for brunch at a friend's and was very a bit worried about how I was going to manage it, because she is a calorie obsessive and a fat-phobic. So I was expecting a range of pastries, cereal etc and had no idea how I was going to negotiate it without being rude.

Got there and she's frying packet after packet of bacon and stirring a huge pan of scrambled eggs Grin

There was also a massive plate of pastries and rolls etc but I happily piled my plate with bacon and egg whilst everyone else scarfed down the pains au choc. She didn't even flinch when I added an extra slice of butter to the top of my eggs...

Not needed another mouthful since 10am!

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 19:21

lurk I love potato dauphinois, so celeriac dauphinois sounds great.
I still have half the celeriac left, so that's one of the side dishes for tomorrow sorted. Thanks Smile I need to buy more cream.

The thing I like about recipes like this is that it can be served to the whole family. I refuse to make them separate meals. They can have what I'm having. Luckily none of them are fussy eaters.

NamelessEnsign · 31/05/2017 19:28

Thank you so much secretsignal. I have been a bit twitchy and shouty this afternoon; it was quite a shock.

Naschkatze crustless quiche sounds delicious!

Today's food:

B: Scrambled eggs with a dash of cream
Snack: two fried eggs at a lovely cafe because I was in a sulk that everyone else was having cake, and there was literally nothing else low carb and veggie

Lunch: avocado & feta salad

Dinner: Courgetti, quorn pieces, green veg in a cream and cheddar sauce. Was delicious.

AdalindSchade · 31/05/2017 19:29

Yummy dinner. Buttered swede, green beans and spinach with 2 veggie sausages. Yum

BIWI · 31/05/2017 19:36

Wow! This took a long time to catch up! Grin

Sorry for absence. Work is a bit of a bugger at the moment and haven't had time to do much more than a quick 10 minute skim through this lunchtime.

Couple of things:

@Naschkatze - I think you need to eat more. It's great that you're feeling the benefits of low carbing, but you're breastfeeding and you need the nutrition and extra calories. If it's making you light headed, then this is worrying. As well as eating more, make sure you're getting plenty salt, as well as foods with magnesium and potassium. So eat things like salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat yoghurt

@styledilemma - that's key to success I think. It's also part of making Bootcamp easier, which is what it's designed to be! I very, very rarely cook anything different for DH.

@Nosocksevermatchup - one tiny square of chocolate can't do that to you! It's very likely to be to do with your menstrual cycle. But just in case there's something else, why don't you list out for me what you've been eating and drinking for the last few days

@JiminnyCricket - great posts from you today! Grin

Welcome to the newbies, and a big hand hold and hug to those who are poorly or having a hard time.

I know when my dad was very ill, before he died last year, it was all too easy to turn to the wrong kinds of food, but also too much alcohol. (Not that I need much of an excuse for the latter Grin Blush)

nekobus · 31/05/2017 19:42

Goodness me you chatterboxes!! I've made it to 16:54 on the thread but don't think I will catch up until later!

Young Jiminny, thank you for sharing your story. I'm getting excited for you and your wedding dress!

So many wonderful stories in here and lots of inspiration.

I've been pretty much LC-ing for almost 3 years and can't see myself ever going back to eating carbs on a regular basis. That's not to say I've stuck with it all this time - I made good headway into the baby weight from DD (4) - but got into habits of too many nuts, alcohol, dark choc and cheese/dairy then need the discipline of BC to get back on track!

This BC I feel great! Able to get up in the morning and not hungry or craving carbs. I started a bit earlier (after staying the same on the last BC - poor show!) so probably in week 4/6 right now. Hoping to shift a stone or more... onwards and downwards!!

RedBeanie · 31/05/2017 19:44

You're all so healthy!

I made a disaster out of dinner, tried to make Quorn mince burgers but they just fell apart - too watery without breadcrumbs or flour. Hey ho.

Lunch was egg and salad, and I haven't snacked (yet). I went out this afternoon to Sainbury's and stocked up on lots of veg, cream and cheese. It was pretty expensive, but I guess I'm just replacing junk with healthy food (rather than as well as) so it should all even out.

I foresee problems with the food getting same-y, mainly because I'm a fussy eater. I'm not keen on things like avocado, spinach & 'funny' veg, fish and don't eat beef, lamb or pork chops (but I do eat sausages!). So I really appreciate people posting what they've eaten, I need inspiration!

Lanaa · 31/05/2017 19:56

Hello everyone, I made a quick post about joining in the thread last week but then I went on holiday and it all went to pot. I got back yesterday morning, and I'm determined never to go abroad this size again. Thankfully I was upgraded to first class, but the anxiety about fitting in the seat is awful. The belt only just managed to fasten - I really need to sort myself out.

Jiminny your post almost made me cry. Thank you for posting that, you are an inspiration. I don't like myself very much at the moment, but your post and the positivity made me smile. I really related to it. I've been fat forever too - My mum put a lock on the kitchen door when I was eleven and I remember going to the green grocer to buy carrots to snack on because I was scared of eating crisps. Years of WW and SW never worked and I'm at my largest weight ever.

Anyway I've added myself to the spreadsheet - wish me luck!

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 19:59

RedBeanie, the secret with burgers, I've found, is some finely chopped veg (I use spinach and mushrooms) in the mix, along with an egg. Really work it with your hands till it's a tight ball, then squash it as you put it on the tray/pan into a pattie shape. And multiple small ones (meatball size) are more resilient than a big one.

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 20:06

Anyone ever sat chiseling out an exploding babybel that's gone wrong and stuck solid, but you're determined to eat it anyway? So dig away for ages with a knife? Grin Blush

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 20:23

I'm too scared to make an exploded babybel Grin.

Food for today:

Breakfast: Iced coffee with almond milk and cream. Cup of tea with almond milk.

Lunch: Cured roast beef with garlic and coriander, salad and a dollop of softly whipped cream cheese - all from M&S.

Mid afternoon cup of tea.

Dinner: Pork belly, cauliflower cheese, roasted beans, courgette and asparagus.

3.5l of water.

My dinner doesn't look very pretty but it was delicious and very filling.

I chucked some sausages in the oven for tomorrow. I start work at bit later in the morning so I'm planning on a fry up Smile. It should be quicker with the sausages already cooked.

Week 2 - Pre-summer low carb bootcamp
ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 20:26

Home made low carb mousakka. Bloody delicious. This was for four hungry adults, but we've got two lunch portions left it was so filling (that's a fairly small dish)

Week 2 - Pre-summer low carb bootcamp
RedBeanie · 31/05/2017 20:27

Thanks cherries, I did add minced up onions, mushrooms and an egg. I'm wondering if I should have left the egg out. Or I might add some cheese next time?

I'm not great in the kitchen ... don't know how to spice things up with the 'right' herbs and condiments, so it's going to take practice to get the hang of this. I'm ok at curries, but they're mainly tomato based.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 20:27

Lanaa sadly our situations aren't rare at all. The more I open up and talk about my weight the more I hear the same kinds of stories from other people who have also struggled the same way we have.

Less of the young you lot, I'm almost a married woman don't you know Grin
