I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

thanks Herman and Jiminy

I will cut them into chunks, chuck them in the roasting tin with some oil. Good idea to parboil them first.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 16:22

Celeriac is on the spread sheet if yu need to carb counts, it's really quite low :)

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 16:24

I have a probably very inane question! Is it normal to feel - well - normal on this woe? Last week I felt incredibly unwell, so unwell in fact that it reassured me that something was changing biochemically. Since Sunday, it was if something just changed, and I've just been feeling like me, but better. No heartburn any more, nearly a week without IBS, longer than any remission I've had for decades. Hungry at mealtimes, but not constantly ravenous the way I used to be. No hangry episodes. I just feel almost serene, completely even keel. I somehow expected ketosis to be more dramatic - to the extent I'm now wondering if I'm actually in it! Given I'm following the rules to the letter, and I'm not overeating protein, is it inevitable that I will be in ketosis? I almost feel I need some evidence!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 31/05/2017 16:24

How much damage will one day completely off piste do? I've been figuring out how to limit the pizza and garlic bread on Saturday evening (lots of salad, v small portions of the above) but I've just realised that I've got lunch to get through as well, which, is probably going to have to be a takeaway, and there are no low carb options. I really don't want to make a big deal out of arguing against the plans but I'm curious to know how much it will effect the weight-loss, and how terrible I'll feel on Sunday.

(Tbf this is not something that happens very often, a couple of times a year, maybe, so in the overall scheme of things I don't worry about having a totally crap day once in a blue moon.)

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 16:28

TimeIhadaNameChange IME, a day off track at the beginning doesnt affect things too much and you can still lose, but a day off track when you're in ketosis is a major disaster. I struggled over easter, ate 200g of milk chocolate and threw up violently for 4 hours Blush. I then stalled on my weight loss for 3 weeks while I struggled to get back into ketosis.

If you've been goot for 72 hours and are in ketosis, do not risk it. I learned the hard way :(

ilovecherries welcome to ketosis! Star Flowers

Yep, you just feel normal, but better Grin.. I too expected some dramatic change, but it's the little things that you really notice. Mine was not being knackered at 4pm!

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 16:35

Other things I noticed in ketosis vs glycolysis:

I'm hotter. My body temp is 2 degrees warmer for some reason

I'm not buzzed, but I don't get tired during the day anymore and the end of the working day doesnt "end my day" if that makes sense, I have a life in the evenings now too.

I stay up much later without a problem and bounce out of bed in the morning and actually WANT to walk the dogs at 5:30am Grin

Hunger just isnt a thing. I can't remember the last time I felt any kind of hunger and cant really remember what that biting, cravey hungry feeling is like.

I leave food on my plate now even if I havent eaten much. I don't eat until I'm uncomfortable anymore and hate hate hate the feeling of being full. Used to eat until I couldnt move most evenings.

The biggest one for me: I look forward to my meals, but I don't crave. The only slip ups I've had have been emotional/ hormonal and I haven't had a cravey slip up since my 2nd week.

MaryThorne · 31/05/2017 16:38

style it's actually surprisingly low carb - according to the Tesco shopping app, 2.3g carbs per 100g so absolutely fine for BC as we're aiming for vegetables with 3g or less per 100g Smile

I love celeriac.

MaryThorne · 31/05/2017 16:41

Sorry, cross post whilst catching up with the thread!

I do love bootcamp, so much inspiration and support all around Smile

Flowersfor those who are having a tough time at the moment for whatever reason.

Jiminny really inspiring story - it's great that you've found low carb whilst you're still relatively young too.

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 16:43

Yeah, I find I'm not wandering about, just looking for stuff to eat. Like today, working out in the garden writing a report. Have gone in a few times to the fridge for another glass of water, and haven't even considered having a rummage to see if I fancy anything. Im sort of disinterested. I have never experienced this before. I'm thinking about cooking dinner, but I'm unconcerned that it's still about three hours away. Very weird!

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 16:46

I was very tempted to go and buy a keto-meter just to reassure myself, but then I decided the thirty quod it cost would be better in my new clothes fund!

AdalindSchade · 31/05/2017 16:48

time I had a carb weekend (family, complicated food/emotional stuff with them) and I felt awful. Suddenly starving hungry, lightheaded and shaky while waiting for a late lunch, bloated, gassy. I weighed this morning (silly) and I'm retaining at least 3lb of water based on my weigh in last week. I didn't get carb flu in the first week and I don't feel bad now I'm back on it but I do feel hungrier again like I did in the first week of low carb (this is week 3 for me)

wombattoo · 31/05/2017 16:49

Thing I have added you to the bottom of the spreadsheet. You just need to add your weight.

I have been eating this way for a few years. When I'm not on bootcamp, I have had the occasional slice of fresh bread or piece of cake. I just make sure that it doesn't throw me right off. It can lead to cravings and bread really bloats me.

Naschkatze · 31/05/2017 16:52

I'm finding I'm still getting quite lightheaded... this did happen before but mainly when I was really hungry because I hadn't eaten for hours (and then I'd dive into the carbs..)I've got quite low blood pressure anyway - could this WOE be making it lower?

B - scrambled eggs, spinach, ham. Lots of butter
L - (very late because I wasn't hungry! Shock) Chicken mayo salad
D - either crustless quiche or burgers. Can't decide!

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 16:54

style - the mindset I'm trying to work with is that carbs to me are like a toxic relationship. Quite addictive when you are in it, but not good long term. And when you get out, you often (or I did at least!) have nostalgic thoughts about that relationship, and have a temptation to poke it and see - whether that's by doing a bit of Facebook stalking or shoving some toast down my throat. But whenever I'm tempted to do the FB stalking bit, I think 'really, are you serious? Don't be an idiot, the guy was only a few steps away from a sociopath, stay well clear!' So I stay clear. And that's the thought I want to have about the toast as well. That was probably a somewhat convoluted analogy, but I'm hoping it works for me!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 31/05/2017 17:05

God, it's going to be difficult then.

I'm really not sure I can avoid it, tbh. If it were just me involved it would be easy but there are other people to consider who have ideas about what is going to happen and are looking forward to it. I don't want to go into details as it's about them, not me, but I really don't want to rock the boat.

Grrrr.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 17:24

TimeIhadaNameChange, with kindness... bollocks.

You ALWAYS have a choice what you put in your mouth. This is one of the revelations I had recently had and it was really hard for me to accept that all those times "life" got in my way were actually just me getting on my own way.

No one cares what you're eating and if like my future MiL they do care, it's more to do with them, not you.

LC or damage limiting takeaway options:

Chicken kebab, have salad and mayo on it and dont eat the pita.

Curry: Any tandoori, dry dishes, just dont order rice or naan and see if it can come with salad. Also usually a praen starter and a chickeney or lamb kebab starter, order a couple of these instead of a main.

CHicken wings/ hot wings that come without a coating.

You have time to plan this and you CAN do it without going totally off the rails.

Of course, if you think you can come back to this thread afterwards with a totally clear, 10 week run ahead of you and nothing else that will get in your way, then go for it. If however, and I suspect this is more likely, you predict there will always be a "something" that will throw you back off track.. well now's the time to prove to yourself that you can plan ahead and work your way around these obstacles.

Life will ALWAYS throw up stuff, it's inevitable. You don't lose weight on the days when the WOE is easy, it's on the hard days when you stick to it regardless that make you lose weight :)

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 17:28

ilovecherries i love that analogy Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 17:29

I feel exactly the same as you ilove. I'm not convinced I am in ketosis. However I feel really well and I'm so much more productive and procrastinating much less now I am not thinking about being hungry and when I'm going to eat. I still think about food but I've always done that. It's a family thing Grin.

I generally finish work at 2pm and I'm home shortly after. For ages I have had to come home, have a carby snack and have a lie down. Sometimes napping until DS gets home from school. If he wanted some quiet time in his room I'd stay on our bed too lethargic to move. Of course day time sleeping made sleeping at night more difficult, so it went on. I realise that I was almost always hungry or thinking that I soon would be. Constantly snacking in order to try and get to a decent meal time.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 17:32

My personal way of thinking about this WOE and maintaining it I've named "the Wagon Falacy"

THERE IS NO WAGON Shock

This isnt a WOE where I can "fall off the wagon" because the wagon doesnt exist. This is just how i eat, it's not a diet, it's not a plan of any kind.. it's just a series of choices.

If there's no wagon, there's nothing to fall off and no reason to be off/ on it. You just eat, make the right choices and be happy.

Wrong choices are just that, choices. Make the right one next time.

cabbage67 · 31/05/2017 17:32

Just defrosting my freezer too. Also swapped summer for winter clothes yesterday after just looking at the suitcase on the landing for two weeks. mmm what else can I do....? Halo

secretsignal · 31/05/2017 17:38

Great post Jiminny, congrats on NSV

B: Chicken slices and olives. Bit rubbish, but grabbed on the run
L: Green salad with halloumi and mayo
D: Am considering LC sausages with marscapone cougetti. Bit odd i expect, but I'm a very lazy terrible cook
2 almond milk teas, 1 creamy coffee, will try to get 3l water done

Sunborn · 31/05/2017 17:38

Spectacularly fell off the wagon this weekend Sad. Ah well, trying my best again this week!

Yesterday I had:
B: egg and avocado pot from Pret
L: feta salad with oil
D: mozzarella, tomato, and Parma Ham Salad.

Today;
B: full fat natural yogurt
L: chicken salad with M&S crackling strips to up the fat and add crunch.
D: roast chicken salad

StuntNun · 31/05/2017 17:43

When I was losing weight I bought interim size clothes from Asda for not much £.

secretsignal · 31/05/2017 17:48

Nameless that sounds awful. Well done for resisting the carby comfort cravings Star

Nosocksevermatchup · 31/05/2017 17:51

We don't need to have protein and low carbon veg at every meal do we? I've just had some asparagus soup, and I can't face much else this evening. Im getting so full on smaller amounts.
