I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

C4pinkwheels argh i hope so. DP proposed back in August and I very nearly turned him down because of my fear of a wedding and being looked at all day while I felt so crap about myself. That's what kicked me into needing to do something drastic about my weight. I just wish I'd found BC back in August and I'd have given myself a lot more time Sad

Cookingongas · 31/05/2017 14:14

I've weighed. I'm a stone heavier than I estimated SadI'm heavier now than I have ever been. I'm glad I committed to a solution before weighing- I think if I hadn't the challenge would seem insurmountable and I have eaten my way through a few loAves of bread.

Cookingongas · 31/05/2017 14:16

Would have! I haven't eaten any bread - how much can a missed word change a sentence!-

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 31/05/2017 14:32

Lovely story Jiminy.

Still going sort of strong here apart from a naughty low carb alcoholic beverage last night.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself today, I know I have it very easy compared to some fellow bootcampers. I've quit smoking as I had a nasty chest infection over the weekend. Didn't smoke alot anyway normally just a cheeky one at night, but feel a bit deprived of treats of an evening.

We're also really skint at the moment and I'm feeling quite stressed about that.

Bibs2014 · 31/05/2017 14:52

I had a gorgeous salad at lunchtime with ham and coleslaw - so light and refreshing!

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 14:52

That is about the size of my portions Shiny. No idea if that is right but is what I'm eating!

So sorry you are poorly C4. I hope the AB's work for you over the next couple of days Flowers.

ragz134 · 31/05/2017 14:54

Haven't caught up yet, sorry. Been camping at a show all weekend. Managed to avoid 80% of the carbs that I would generally have, and a lot less alcohol, so I will call that a win.
Gained .4lb after the weekend, on last week's starting weight, but had some lower weights during the week so I'm not too bothered.
Hope everyone else is doing well, will read the thread later.

ShastaBeast · 31/05/2017 15:11

Cooking - I did the same. Couldn't face the scales until I'd committed and knew I could tackle it. I was bigger than I thought too, despite the mounting evidence on my tummy.

C4 - I guess you are prone to infections due to the nerve damage. I know I find it hard to empty my bladder or feel the urge sometimes. Taking nortriptiline makes it even worse. Enjoy the TLC and get better soon.

wombattoo · 31/05/2017 15:15

C4 Thanks I hope the AB's kick in and keep you out of hospital.
Cooking - the scales are down hill from here. At least you have a true weight to work from.

NamelessEnsign · 31/05/2017 15:40

Hi all, some great determination on thread - will be interesting to see how many collective pounds are lost by the group at week 10. I want to be part of that stat!

I have been struggling the last couple of days after doing so well at a few meals out. The veggie low carb thing makes anything impromptu or out of the house really tricky. I have stayed on track excepting a bite of DH's cake yesterday.

Today I was the car behind a nasty road accident. I stopped and gave my details and tried to help (a nearby police officer had it very much in hand). Drove the short distance home, had a complete adrenaline meltdown and I have never wanted to stuff myself with buttery white toast as much as I did in that moment. Amazing how much conditioning we have to comfort ourselves with food. I didn't, though, but I'm still worrying about those poor people.

glenthebattleostrich · 31/05/2017 15:43

Jim, you are doing so amazingly well. I'm copying your story to my laptop and am going to read it whenever I feel like falling off the wagon.

I bought a tiny playsuit today in primark, they only had a size 12 left (my intended size). So far it doesn't go past my thighs, but I will be in it before Christmas and wearing it on holiday.

As I am now in some of my 14's I've removed all size 16s from my wardrobe and dropped them at the charity shop. Yes I know this is dangerous but I will do it this time. Otherwise I'm naked. And no one wants to see that.

Food today:

B - chai tea with double cream and coconut oil.
L - serrano, red Leicester, cucumber, tomatoes and pork scratchings (picnic again)
T - chicken and chorizo kebabs with garlic mushrooms.

Water so far 3 litres.

I've cleaned out my kitchen cupboards today, they are neat and orderly with stuff in labelled tupperwear. Even popped out (hence the picnic) for more storage jars. I'm feeling very virtuous and happy.

Oh and when I weighed this morning, I had another 1lb off which means 1 stone since the 1st May when I stopped drinking :)

glenthebattleostrich · 31/05/2017 15:47

And while I remember, Primark had some fruit infuser water bottles for £4 today, I treated myself to one.

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 15:51

I cleared and sorted my freezer out last night! Must be something about BC that makes us come over all efficient Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 15:53

Blimey glen I just reread your post. 1 stone off in a month is amazing!

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 15:59

How do we do this long term?
Are we never to have a slice of birthday cake/pudding after a meal / mince pies at Christmas, ever again? Sad Is it alright to eat cake on certain days? Do we eventually get to have 'cheat' days?
So many questions.

Cookingongas · 31/05/2017 16:00

Glen- you are inspirational for me too- especially as I'm stopping drinking starting low carbing now, in the hope of dropping a dress size by July 1st. A stone in a month is something to be very proud of :)

Thing101 · 31/05/2017 16:01

Please could you add me? Have done BC to great success before under a different name and now need to get my act together before a sweaty summer!
Well done to all of you so far!
Thanks.

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 16:03

I have celeriac in the veg drawer. Any ideas how to cook it?

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 16:14

styledilemma cover it in oil and roast it, tastes like roast parsnip :)

cathyandclare · 31/05/2017 16:15

I've been LCing for nearly five years. I have had the odd cheat meal but I find that once I start on the sugary stuff, I get all bingey. I'm like an addict and find it difficult to get back on track. So, when maintaining I have berries, wine, nuts and dark chocolate. If in need, I try and make lower carb puddings, like mousse with 85% chocolate. chocolate cheesecake (greek yogurt and 85% chocolate again) with almond crumb and ground almond muffins. I find I miss the bread, pasta and all that stuff much less.
I have been allowing some carb creep with too much of that stuff though, so this Bootcamp I'm reining it in!

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 16:16

Jiminny do I cut it into cubes first, or bung the whole thing in the oven?

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 16:17

Just treat it as you would potatoes styled. Roasted, mashed, chips. It'sent good raw too www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1597/quick-celeriac-remoulade. Although I think the amount of mustard in that recipe is too much.

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 16:18

You need to cut it into chunks first. I always parboil first too. Not for as long as spuds though.

styledilemma · 31/05/2017 16:20

Ooh I came across a recipe that says you cook them like roast potatos. Trouble is, I can't see any info to say if it's low or high carb. Confused

It's a root vegetable, so probably high carb.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 16:21

styledilemma of course you can have bits and bobs of treats now and again, it's not like you eat a piece of cake and suddenly gain 4 stone Grin

Once you hit your goal weight it's fine to have the occasional treat, but yes, if you go back to eating the way you did before BC you'll gain the weight back. That's how you got overweight in the first place so why would you expect to be able to eat that way and maintain your weight?

My plan is to weigh myself monthly. If I've gained any, I'll go back on BClite for a couple of weeks. I'm going to try and maintain my weight within 7lbs of target this way.

I'll never go back to a high carb WOE, I'm done with that and my choice is to be a healthy weight for my future.
