I don't think that BIWI has managed to post a new thread so I'll do this one.

I don't have the wise words of BIWI so I'll just say that by now you should be more in the swing of lcing so just keep it up and remember, only 1 week until bclite.

Hopefully you all have a successful weigh-in but if not, don't be disheartened. Post for some help and we will do our best.

There's never ever ever such a thing as too much fat. Unless you're physically force feeding yourself the stuff, you're not going to over consume it, your apitite wont let you.

C4pinkwheels your menu sounds delicious. Bad news about the support worker but a snoozy day sounds like a plan.

MyShinyThing · 31/05/2017 09:56

Thank you everyone! I think I did overdo it a bit last night as I felt a bit sick after but then I had had a slice of pork belly with the salad. It was all that talk of them on here yesterday, I had to pick some up on the way home from work.

In the past I would have had 2 but genuinely couldn't manage more than 1 last night & even that was a struggle. So I've got loads left over for lunch for he rest of the week.

Jiminny can I just say how bloody inspiring your posts are. I remember reading your first posts on the last bootcamp & you were so adamant that it wasn't going to work Grin. And since then you've stuck to it even when it's hard & embraced it completely. You're a Star

Veryflummoxed · 31/05/2017 09:57

Jim that was a great post.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 31/05/2017 09:57

Yesterday's dinner ended up being a large plate of salad: spinach, pepper, cucumber, and tomatoes, with leftover gammon and some mozzarella, with an olive oil, white wine and garlic vinegar dressing with fresh basil leaves. Delicious! I then had two likes of parma ham later as a snack.

Today I'm having:
B - Total and 2 coffees
L - lettuce and pate "sandwiches" (ie the pate is spread between two lettuce leaves), ham and cheese rollups and Total yoghurt
D - will do a fryup - bacon, eggs, sausages and mushrooms

Am I the only person who enjoys having the challenge of treats lying around? DP came home with sausage and chips last night, and being able to say 'no' to the offer of some chips was great. Plus there's so much junk at home: Doritoes, Pringles and Tunnocks Wafers to name just a few, all on the sides (as DP can't find them in cupboards) and it gives me such a good feeling to ignore them without wanting them. The worst was the rosemary and garlic loaf, but I resisted!

Scales are refusing to budge, but I realised I can pit my whole hand into the back of my jeans, perpendicular to my back, so I must be doing something right!

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 10:07

TimeIhadaNameChange nope! I'm the same! I absolutely loooove going down the crisp aisle in the supermarket or the chocolate one and grin like a cheshire cat when I dont want any of it Grin

AdalindSchade · 31/05/2017 10:09

Lidl Greek yoghurt is 3.2g per 100g even lower than total and half the price

Sorry for shouting but I've posted that before but I don't think people have noticed :)

I think if you have a tendency to glug the cream and yoghurt like me you should be wary because too much dairy can stall weight loss. I'm allowing myself one creamy coffee and one bowl of yoghurt with a spoonful of cream. I don't do well when I allow myself limitless anything like that

Naschkatze · 31/05/2017 10:10

Redbeanie I'm doing the light version of bootcamp on the advice of the experienced bc-ers because I'm breastfeeding my 3 month old. So I'm eating some nuts. I've always eaten the meridian peanut butter so there is no added sugar etc, just peanuts. It's 11.6g carbs/100g so quite carby. If I just have a teaspoon then I figure it's not too much. But I am aiming to eat more carbs than others on this thread. I haven't checked yet whether other nut butters have a lower carb count.

Jiminny - Your post made me quite emotional (sorry I hope that doesn't come across the wrong way) in an inspiring way. Can't wait to see you looking amazing in your wedding dress next year!

StuntNun · 31/05/2017 10:10

Here's a recently published meta-analysis in Nutrition Journal stating that there is no evidence for reducing saturated fat intake and replacing it with polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.

HemanOrSheRa · 31/05/2017 10:14

I don't know if the photo will show it very well - I have a NSV! This is the front of my hideous work blouse - with me in it. The pic is from just under my boobs. Two weeks ago, I was literally bursting out of it. The front was straining over my belly. When I stood up/got out of the car I had to check the front to make sure the buttons hadn't popped open Blush.

ASDismynormality · 31/05/2017 10:16

TimeIhadaNameChange. I have lots of treats lying around the house. I have 2 ASD children and another going through GCSEs so I don't want to have any food battles with them at the moment! To begin with I felt a little hard done by when I saw them but couldn't eat them now it really doesn't bother me - it feels really good to be at this point.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 10:17

Haaaaa just had an NSV that's made me laugh. This morning I got up a bit late so was rushing, and threw on one of my 'it looks fine without accessorising it' dresses without thinking and left the house.

Last time I wore this dress I posted on BC about it because I'd noticed it was a bit baggier on me but it looked fine. It used to be tight all the way down to the hips where is flares out a bit.

My friend at work has just come up to me and said 'Jim, you need an intervention. For gods sake buy some new clothes!'.. thought she was being polite so left it.. just come to the loo, caught sight of myself in the mirror and it's like a tent GrinBlush

I've had a proper giggle. Time for a shopping trip I think Blush

ilovecherries · 31/05/2017 10:20

Jiminny, thanks for sharing your story. It's motivating and inspiring.

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 10:22

Glad it's helpful, it helps sometimes to talk about it because it reminds me I'm not unusual! I think sometimes when you're always the biggest person in a room it can make you feel a bit like a zoo animal.

ChesterDrawers · 31/05/2017 10:47

Loved your story Jimminy, you are the BC poster girl for sure! A man feeling all inspired now.

I use Tesco First Greek yogurt which is 3.8g and lovely. The Lidl one is great too as Adalind said shouted Grin but there's not one round here so only manage to get it occasionally Sad

ChesterDrawers · 31/05/2017 10:48

I've no idea if a man is feeling all inspired, but I certainly am Blush

oxygenmagnesium · 31/05/2017 10:54

The thread is so inspiring this morning! Well done everyone on various victories, S and NS Flowers

Night shift last night, stayed on track as I was too busy to think about misbehaving. I've come home starving and shattered, already had 1.5l water, total with cream and a thumb sized piece of cheese. (Disclaimer - it was not the size of my thumb, but I figure somewhere in the world, someone has a thumb about four times the size of mine)

I'm now going to fall into bed ready for work again tonight, got loads of yummy lc foods to have later so almost looking forward to work!

StuntNun · 31/05/2017 11:05

MOIST I got scurvy a couple of years ago. I don't recommend it!

YoLo it's best to avoid artificial sweeteners. My opinion is that they're better than sugar though so if you absolutely must make a sweet dessert (I made low carb chocolate cake for DH's birthday) then it's better to use sweeteners than sugar. I do think that they're fine as a temporary measure in tea and coffee, so long as you're making an effort to cut them out entirely. One problem is that we're trying to lose the sweet tooth and if you're still eating sweeteners then you won't develop the increased sensitivity to sweetness that lets you taste the natural sweetness in foods. I can't stand balsamic vinegar salad dressing now (DH makes it sometimes Hmm) because it tastes so sugary to me but before I went low carb I wouldn't have believed that vinegar could taste sweet. As Adalind says, they can be hyperinsulinogenic in some people which isn't helpful as it will prevent you getting the most benefits of cutting carbs.

MyShiny it is still possible to eat too many calories on this way of eating to be able to lose weight. You need to be guided by your appetite. It can take some time to relearn your body's sensations of hunger and satiety. As others have said though, it is pretty hard to overeat fat. A pool of fat on your plate at the end of your meal is fine but don't lick the plate clean!

Oooh Jiminny you young thing. Only 26! I feel like I'm hanging out with the cool kids now. Many thanks for your inspiring uber-post.

TimeIHad I've been eating this way for nearly four years now and a lot of "treats" almost don't register as food any more because of the gradual habit change over time. I could happily sit next to a plate of biscuits or cakes and they wouldn't interest me in the slightest. This is a sizable change from pre-Bootcamp when I would have had no resistance to sweet stuff.

Well done on the NSVs Heman and Jiminny.

DH was late home last night from a business trip so I presented him with a platter of soft cheese, blue cheese, thin slices of flaxseed and almond bread, chorizo chips, salami chips, pepperoni chips, and olives. I think he was pretty happy with that!

bellalurgy · 31/05/2017 11:06

jiminy that was a great post. I feel like that about all the years I wasted feeling bad cos I couldn't lose weight when it was a simple case of calories in calories out. 40 years in fact!

I'm going to enjoy this WOE forever, I'm never going back either Grin

CobOnTheCorn · 31/05/2017 11:10

Morning all, please can somebody me of the difference between the carb amount and the 'of which sugars' amount.

There are so many posts that I can't acknowledge or even recall them all but a couple of things.

I use Greek yoghurt yoghurt from Aldi which is delicious and bargainers.

Meridian Almond butter is 6.5g/100g so worth remembering after boot camp.

Finally, I need some advice. It's my birthday and I'm not sure how to play it. I have 3 DC so cake is almost expected. I don't want to talk about weight/diets etc with them but I also don't want to eat cake for the sake of it. There are some low carb cake recipes in the IPD book but they're still not be friendly. Thoughts welcome.

MyShinyThing · 31/05/2017 11:11

I think licking the plate clean may be my downfall StuntNun. It's so ingrained in me to finish the plate that I don't really register that I'm full until well after I'm finished.

I might have to start posting photos of my food as I think my portion sizes may be well off!

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 11:18

StuntNun can you divorce your DH and marry me please? If DP presented me with a platter of food like that I'd weep!

He has just put the lamb shank in the slow cooker for me mind you... baby steps. Grin

Menu:

B: Coconut coffee
L: Coconut coffee and something else. Not sure and not hungry enough to decide.
D: Slow cooked lamb shanks shedded through cauliflower cous cous with feta, spinach, mint and moroccan spices.

Off to M&S in a bit, didnt get time to go yesterday but hoping to pick something up for lunch :)

JiminnyCricket · 31/05/2017 11:22

CobOnTheCorn carbs is the total number of carbs and the number you need to be looking at. THe of which is sugars bit is the total number of those carbs which are sugar. If you're in the UK, fibre isnt factored into total carbs.

As for the cake, how about having a party tea where you have finger food? you can then eat the low carb meat and salad without the DC's noticing what you're eating. Cut the cake before you all dive into the buffet, take it to the kitchen to slice up then just put it on the table with everything else. They wont notice if you've eaten it or not :)

Bibs2014 · 31/05/2017 11:22

YoLoZammo - I had 2 cold sausages for breakfast this morning (cooked them last night).
