Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

I'm starting to feel a bit peckish but not actually hungry. Love this woe for that!

styledilemma · 22/05/2017 16:30

Jiminny, I'm going to buy some real butter tonight. It will be good for adding to the eggs and vegetables.

I like the idea of having real cream in coffee. I love cream in coffee.

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 16:32

ShastaBeast I found the drinking hard too. What worked for me was having a 1 litre water bottle surgically attached to me at all times. I know I have to get though 3 of them, pllus my morning coffee and 3 cups of green tea to hit my 4 litre goal.

I bought a handbag big enugh to fit a bottle in and my bottle sits on my desk all day at work, on the passenger seat in the car and by me when I'm watching tv. It then goes in the dishwasher overnight and we start again the next day Grin

I also have a whiteboard marker in my bag and every time i re-fill my bottle, I make a mark on it. When there's 3 marks I know I've drunk enough. I don't need to do this as much now because I've got it down to a fine art. First thing in the morning I have a green tea with lemon then my coffee for breakfast when I get to work and fill my bottle up. Bottle 1 is finished by 11:30, I have bottle 2 over my lunch break from 12-1 and when I go to re-fill it I also make myself a green tea. Bottle 3 finished by 4:30 then in the evening I have my green tea after dinner Grin

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 16:33

styledilemma me too, try adding some vanilla essence to it too Grin

Real butter is the way forward. If you're struggling to get your head around fat=good, I have some fab book reccomendations and a couple of youtube videos I can share which might help :)

styledilemma · 22/05/2017 16:34

How soon before we reach the Ketosis stage?

I have trawled through some of the threads but can't find the answer, so apologies if I end up asking some things twice (this is all new to me)
Also, where's the egg muffin recipe? Thanks.

It's nice that we're all doing this together. I have a strange feeling I might be successful this time. I usually go these things alone. (probably where I've been going wrong) Hmm

styledilemma · 22/05/2017 16:36

The youtube videos sound good.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 22/05/2017 16:36

marioncole careful with soya products. They are made out of fermented soy beans, which are a legume, for one. They can also cause an inflammatory response in your body & stall your weightloss. Milk & cream give me acne so I'd been having soya products for years, but I found on LCHF then they were doing me no favours. As soon as I gave the soy millk & yoghurt up, I started losing consistently, instead of fluctuating up & down.

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 16:41

styledilemma ketosis is different for everyone. Technically, you can get into a form of ketosis in 2 days or even less depending on how full your glycogen stores are, but for most people it takes between 4 days and a week.

However, just being in ketosis isn't the end of the story. To get the benefits of ketosis (increased energy and focus, no hunger) consistantly you need to remain in ketosis for around 4-6 weeks. You might feel these benefits before that time, but sustained nutritional ketosis is classed as 4 weeks or more of uninterrupted ketogenisis. This is because what we're aiming for is something called nutritional ketosis, not the initial form of ketosis where the body reacts to lack of carbs and can flick itself out of ketosis very easily.

That's why the first 2 weeks of bootcamp are stricter, it's to give you body the chance to hit nutritional ketosis before you reintroduce SOME higher carb foods.

My very favourite explaiation of LCHF WOE:

Try not to get distracted by his cheekbones (just me?? Blush)

JuniorMint · 22/05/2017 16:45

Hi, please could I be added on? JuniorMint, starting weight today 125lbs. I'm a veggie low carber and have previous lost nearly 4 stone on low carb (my original start weight was 172lbs!) although haven't joined a boot camp before. I want to lose around 7-10lbs and maintain. Thanks Smile

MOIST · 22/05/2017 16:46

I'm working nights. I have snack (olives, cucumber, celery, cheese, avocado) and a chunk of spinach/tomato/mushroom/egg bake thing.

I'll let you know if I feel fabulous or like death.

Pengweng · 22/05/2017 16:48

I've been ok so far but have a cracking headache from the nice weather and no enough water. I struggle when I'm in school all day as we don't just let the kids get up and get water so i feel a bit shitty guzzling water in front of them when i have just said they have to wait until break time. Plus i can only pee during break and lunch so I am now trying to make up for it. Luckily I'm only in two full days so I can cope. Might sneak behind the board tomorrow though for a quick drink.

Managed not to snack all day but DTs are having dinner and this is the time i am more likely to shovel their leftovers in to my gob so i'm having some pork scratchings (salt might help with headache too).

Chicken stir fry with mayo for dinner

nextchapterplease · 22/05/2017 16:55

Hello all - feel I am bit late signing in to the thread as there are so many posts already.
Great hearing everyone's stories - am feeling determined as am pretty much at an all time high for me and have succeeded on Bootcamp in the past - just feel cross with myself for letting it slide and ending up back at square one.
Weighed in at 160lbs this morning but AF has made an appearance today so that may be slightly artificially high.

Food today -
Breakfast 1 - a cold Black Farmer sausage with mayonnaise as we had no electricity
Breakfast 2 - 2 egg omelette with cheese and two cherry tomatoes (once the power was back!)
Lunch - salad with olives avocado feta and a slice of ham
dinner will be seabass fillets with buttery courgettes and more salad

Not enough water yet - about 1.25 litres so far

I also made some giant veggie egg muffins - with shallot , mushroom and spinach with a bit of Parmesan cheese - never tried this before but am hoping they will make breakfast really easy for the next few days - they smell delicious so fingers crossed they taste ok!

I have been feeling quite grumpy and flat today but hopefully that's just the hormones - I do know I normally feel much better,on this WOE.

This is Gary Taubes being interviewed for a fab documentary called carb loaded, you can get the documentary on youtube too. In ther interests of transparency, they also released the full, unedited interviews with all their sources to prove what they were saying is evidentially sound. Pretty cool documentary to watch if you have an hour and a half to spare :)

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 17:09

GetReady looks delicious but just watch those peppers, they're really high carb. The green peppers are lower and a good substitiute though :)

Oliversmumsarmy · 22/05/2017 17:13

Weighed in and was experimenting with recipes last week.

Been a really crap few years. Living on a building site whilst are house was being rebuilt the before it was finished fully dp got very ill. Dp out of hospital now after his latest op and it is in the hands of the Gods now what the future holds.

Taking a little bit of time for me now. Got my fridge full of veggies and salad and low carb Quorn.

I have also stocked up on bottles of water.

If I can lose several inches off my waist I will be very happy. That is my worry area. Once I have that under control I will worry about the rest then.

Because I am veggie I have decided on doing 20carbs per day. Will I get the same results overall.

Breakfast was 2 poached eggs on a bed of cheese and spinach (frozen sort then defrosted over night)

I do this in a small baking dish and bake it in the oven before putting the eggs on top. Would I be able to break the 2 eggs directly in the dish. Maybe eithet cover with a little grated cheese or not and bake in the oven or would the eggs not do well

marioncole · 22/05/2017 17:13

hippadoppaloppagorillapig thanks, I'll keep an eye on that

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 17:16

olivers 20g is very very low, I do 25g and that's considered a VLCD, I'm not a veggie!

Anything under 50g is considered a low carb diet so experiment, if you lose weight at 50g stay there, if not, drop 10g the next week and see you you get on :)

WorshipTheGourd · 22/05/2017 17:17

Have massive headache. And Dyslexic child in meltdown over homework.
So, I just had a cup of cocoa. 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder (8g/100g carb) and about a tablespoon of milk, made up with water.

Do I have the record for blowing it already?
(I've had no coffee/tea today just water, boiled eggs, tuna, mayo and leaves?) Am having pork chop and leaves for dinner. Was hoping to have a sauce of philadelphia and a bit of mustard just to make the chop more interesting?

explodingkittens · 22/05/2017 17:18

Naschkatze don't worry about eating 'too much' butter, it's fine. You need the fat on this way of eating, so if you like butter, use it!

A bit of milk in tea is ok (I can't live without a cup of builders tea in the morning) but just be aware that splashes of milk will add up, carb-wise, over the day. As long as you're not drinking cups and cups all day you should be ok, just keep an eye on it.

Personally I don't think a whole avocado is a problem but the carb counts do vary. It's a pretty-much-universally-adored food on LCHF though, packed with good fats and vitamins, so I think you could get away with a whole one now and again.

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 17:21

WorshipTheGourd (love the username by the way, he's not the Messiah!)

You haven't blown anything dont be daft. You haven't eaten enough fat though. Yes yes to philli and mustard sauce on your dinner as long as the philli if the full fat version obviously.

Have more with it than leaves too, got any cauliflower in, or asparagus or spinach?

littlebillie · 22/05/2017 17:26

Hi first time for me, I am 14st 7lb, I wondered what a realistic weight loss is over 10 weeks. My BMI is 27. Many thanks ladies

BetterTogether · 22/05/2017 17:27

Wow, I can't believe how fast this thread has moved today! I've just spent ages reading through it which is good distraction from picking at kids' after school snacks at least!! Grin

So today has gone pretty well. A bit more snacky than i'd have liked this morning, but I was stressed which seemingly = food (I do try to distract myself in other ways usually, but being stuck at my desk ruled out exercise or bubble baths!) I stuck to a couple of mini tins of tuna instead of the office sweets as my stress snack though, so pretty pleased with myself - good thing I'd stocked up my desk drawer with low carb snacks!

Leg of pork joint cooking in the oven at the moment...crackling, drool.

What do you all have instead of the evening wind down glass of wine/gin?? Not every night, but today has definitely been one of those days when I would normally have one! Not sure soda water with a slice of lemon will cut it HmmSad

sheepysheep · 22/05/2017 17:29
