Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

Excellent stunt, will see what I can find in the fridge tonight

WorshipTheGourd · 22/05/2017 14:51

Have had 2 boiled eggs for brekkie, a can of tuna and some leaves and two small tomatoes for lunch, and dinner will be 2 pork chops and some more leaves. I am also trying to eat between 10-6pm.

Have banging headache. Maybe lack of coffee.
I do like a coffee (filter at home) but cant stand it black so might have to try cream.

Is milk a no-no?

marioncole · 22/05/2017 14:58

This is rather nice, 2.3g per 100g

runningtogetskinny · 22/05/2017 15:04

Thanks stunt I clearly need to look at this more carefully! Are all pulsed banned?

runningtogetskinny · 22/05/2017 15:04

Pulses!!

marioncole · 22/05/2017 15:06

'Fraid so runningtogetskinny

explodingkittens · 22/05/2017 15:10

Yes, all pulses are banned. They are high in carbohydrates!

It is a very good idea to read the info on the spreadsheet tabs before starting, because low-carb is a very different way of eating to the 'normal' idea of 'healthy' food. Tangerines, pears and kidney beans are waaaaaay too carby and really don't have a place in LCHF eating at all.

runningtogetskinny · 22/05/2017 15:16

Thanks everyone, I'm only on my phone so can't open the spreadsheet I will try on my laptop tonight

notevenamum1 · 22/05/2017 15:20

Thanks so much for organizing this OP! I am not going to log my weight - I hope you don't mind. I am getting my body fat % taken tomorrow along with body measurements and this will be repeated every 4 weeks. Historically weighing myself has never worked out great? Does this boot camp last for 12 weeks? Sorry if it already says this somewhere....sure I read it before but can't find it now! Good luck to everyone xx

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 15:20

running if it tastes sweet or potatoey, it's too carby :)

Definately spend your evening nosing through the spread sheet, it takes a lot of getting used to!

I'm in my 15th week now (and 30lbs lighter, 'athankyou) and it's taken me until aout 5 weeks ago for this to become second nature :)

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 15:21

noteven bootcamp is 10 weeks :)

notevenamum1 · 22/05/2017 15:24

Thanks jiminny. I am so excited to have people to do this with!! Went to the shops at lunch and seen some clothes in Zara but resisted buying anything. Told myself I will treat self to a few nice pieces at the end if I stick to all the rules in boot camp!

StuntNun · 22/05/2017 15:44

Worship milk is okay in small quantities, just as long as you aren't having lots of coffee or tea a day or having very milky drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos.

Running vegetarians sometimes keep pulses in their diet when they go low carb but it has to be the lower carb pulses in small quantities only.

Naschkatze · 22/05/2017 15:48

Does someone want to critique my first day for me?

B - Greek yoghurt, full fat with strawberries (BC light - breastfeeding.)
S - Boiled egg with salt and mayo.
L - Salad with a whole avocado, cucumber. Dressing made from mayo and lemon juice.

D will be - Lemon chicken with spinach, mushrooms and brocolli.

If I feel peckish I have some celery sticks to eat with cream cheese. Or maybe a spoon of peanut butter. Are these okay?

Questions: Is a whole avocado too much?!
Am I allowed tea with a bit of milk?
How much butter for cooking or eating with veg? I don't want to over do it.

Naschkatze · 22/05/2017 15:49

X post about milk - thanks!

achangeisgonnacome · 22/05/2017 15:52

Day 1 and. I'm being tempted!!

Just got on the bus and a school boy is eating a.bag of chips. All I. can smell is the lovely salt and vinegarymess of the carb demon (i.e. Chips) 😩

BIWI · 22/05/2017 15:55

From the spreadsheet - veg carb counts; these are in grams of carbs per 100g. Try and focus as much as you can on veg that's 3 or 4g carbs per 100g and less:

Asparagus 1.4
Aubergine 2.8
Avocado flesh 1.9
Baby sweetcorn 2.7
Bean sprouts 2.5
Broccoli 1.1
Brussels sprouts 3.5
Butternut squash 7.5
Cabbage 5
Carrots 6
Cauliflower 1.9
Celeriac 2.3
Celery 0.9
Courgettes 1.8
Cucumber 1.5
French beans 4.7
Ginger (peeled) 7.2
Green pepper 2.6
Leeks 2.9
Lettuce 1.7
Mangetout 3.3
Mushrooms 0.4
Okra 3
Onions 7.9
Orange/red pepper 6.4
Pumpkin 2.2
Radish 1.9
Runner beans 2.3
Shallots 3.3
Spinach 0.8
Swede 2.3
Tomato 3.1
Turnip 2
Watercress 0.4
Yellow pepper 5.3

Also, if you go onto the veg carb counter, you'll see it's been set up as a spreadsheet, so if you want to, you can enter weights of the veg you're using and it will work out a carb count for you

I have a banging headache too Worship. Urgh. Although I haven't had the awful afternoon dip I usually get, I am feeling a bit grim. But not hungry! I've just had a strong coffee with cream to see if that helps as I haven't had caffeine since yesterday morning. DS has an activity later so I need to keep going.

Good news is though, he made spag bol at school today, he's in Year 7 so just started the catering rotation. It is DELICIOUS Grin. Bless him, he was really worried as he doesn't really like spag bol or tomatoey things (or tomatoes!). I just need to fry some veg in butter for me and boil pasta for him. Grate some cheese and that's it for dinner Smile. Easy!

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 22/05/2017 16:10

Ive also got a banging headache. I don't normally get them.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 22/05/2017 16:15

I've noticed a few people mention that they can't open and/or edit the spreadsheet on their phone: I downloaded a google docs app this morning which is proving very helpful in that regards Smile

Chicken and ham salad for lunch today with a lovely dollop of mayo. Was going to add olive oil but it had all run out! Shock.

About to have a creamy coffee now to keep me going until dinner (which won't be until 8.30/9). Have some cod which needs using up so think I will do that with a lovely butter and tarragon sauce and plenty of veg on the side.

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 16:19

For those of you with headaches, stock cube dissolved in hot water, bovril or marmite in hot water will sort it :) Also add more salt to your next meal. Headaches this early on are usually caused by electrolyte imbalances so upping salt can really help :)

Failing that, you're probably in sugar withdrawal. Not going to lie, this absolutely sucks but it's like any withdrawal, it passes. Your body needs to break its relience on sugar and as long as you dont give in and carb binge, it will be gone in about 18 hours from when you get your first headache.

Remember how shit you feel now and will feel on day 4, nothing motivates you to stay on track more than knowing you'll have to go through this again if you fall into carby twatdom.

I was 18st 5lbs when I went through what you're going through now and ended up with full on flu like symptoms from day 4 until day 10. I'm talking runny nose, sweats, body aches, banging headache and even, wierdly, loss of appitite Confused. I also slept for 5 hours in 48 because I was wired. You don't get to 18st 5lbs (I was 19st 1 in Jan) without having some serious relience on sugar, so my sugar withdrawal was intense. Worked out since then I used to consume anywhere from 100g - 150g sugar PER DAY including fruit and in total around 300g-500g of carbs. My diet was totally acceptable in weight watchers, it's not like I was stuffing my face with takeaway every night or anything.

So, from that to under 25g carb per day is a massive, massive shift and i went cold turkey, so you can imagine the shock to my system.

Some of you will have been consuming similar amounts to me so give your body a break, this week it's going to have to learn a whole new way to function!

styledilemma · 22/05/2017 16:20

I have a bad headache too.

I'm thinking it's because I haven't had my usual 100 cups of tea today. So it could be a bit of caffeine withdrawal.
Slight exaggeration Grin but I do drink a lot of tea.

So today:
2 scrambled eggs and 2 rashers of bacon.
lunch was a little pot of tomatos, olives, feta cheese and cucumber in olive oil dressing from M & S
Snack a whole avocado.
Tonight I will have a piece of chicken and some brocolli and cauliflower.
I have drunk a lot of water.

I feel that my fat content was a bit high today. I'm not used to it.
I don't want to get hungry the first few days.

ilovecherries · 22/05/2017 16:20

One thing I've learned today - I probably don't drink enough. I've just past a litre (total liquids) and I'm feeling waterlogged. On the plus side, my pee is almost sparkling it's so clear!

ShastaBeast · 22/05/2017 16:24

Eugh I resisted pringles, damm husband buying crap for the kids. Really need cream but it will arrive tonight and I'll buy some on the way to work. I had a few chorizo and crackling crisps with Brie and salad to top me up after a work out. So sweaty in this heat. Drinking enough is the hardest thing for me - any tips for this?

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 16:25

styledilemma your fat content isnt high enough!

You need to add some fat to your dinner for sure, maybe a good knob of butter on your veggies and fry your chicken in butter rather than bake it?

Did you add fat to your eggs?

Lunch was fine (sounds lush!)

Fat will stop you being hungry and also get you ito ketosis much much quicker so eat up! Grin
