Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

Heman do you still have the chorizo crisps packet? If so does it say anything about how they are prepared or list oil on the ingredients? I'm thinking they could be microwaved, fried or baked.

marioncole · 22/05/2017 13:41

Stuntnun I think they will just be oven-baked. I keep meaning to give it a try because it will be so much cheaper than M&S.

Tuna salad for lunch.

I like the idea of taking a photo in some trousers that don't fit. Will investigate tonight.

SayrraT · 22/05/2017 13:43

I've (accidentally) made chorizo crisps before. I left them in the oven too long, they were great and I've made them again, intentionally! I just space the slices out on a baking tray and stick them in the oven for a while until they turn darker and crunchy. I don't add anything to them.

dustmotesinthesun · 22/05/2017 13:47

This thread is moving so fast. Insane. Shock
I really want to try those M&S crisps now. You can handmake them yourself too if anyone has no access to M&S

StuntNun · 22/05/2017 13:53

Running your macros in MFP will be around 10% carbs, 25% protein, 65% fat or 35g carbs, 100g protein, 100g fat. This is just a ballpark figure though, some people need to be at around 20g carbs to lose weight, others can still lose at 100g, particularly men. Note that while this is a high fat diet the actual change in fat intake isn't as big as you might think. Someone switching from a standard diet to a low carb diet for weight loss goes from around 60g fat per day to 100g.

Heman my rule of thumb for prepared meats is below 5g carbs per 100g but preferably below 3g. I do like ribs or chicken wings sometimes but you have to search to find ones that aren't loaded with sugar (or make them yourselves from scratch). In some cases those type of foods will come with a sachet of sauce which you can leave out to cut the carb count dramatically.

My lunch today was lush, I love that puddle of fat on the plate!

That sounds like the way forward tbh. I have had the crackling Ines, though not the chorizo ones, and they are £7 for 3. Could make afternoon munchies rather ££££.

Lots of water. Some pate. Am going to roast some veg later to keep me going.

Supper - probably sausage pasta with mushrooms instead of pasta. Yum.

Lc is much easier if you don't have a sweet tooth but the wine is the killer! I am still searching for a good alcohol free alternative for the weekends. Seedlip spice wasn't great and I am struggling for an alternative to water. After 4l in the day I need something different in the evening....

StuntNun · 22/05/2017 13:55

Right, in the interests of scientific research I'm going to make three batches of chorizo chips: microwaved, baked and fried.

marioncole · 22/05/2017 13:57

Stuntnun they have also started selling salami ones too, as well as chorizo.

BIWI · 22/05/2017 13:59

So today:

Breakfast - Total full fat yoghurt with a smidgen of vanilla bean paste
Lunch - ham, cheese, one vine tomato, salad and some coleslaw
Dinner - will be something with chicken that DH is cooking - I think it's chicken wrapped in pancetta - not sure about veg

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 13:59

Stunt I shall add to your research and shove some in the dehydrator later and try that too!

Polkadotties · 22/05/2017 14:03

Wow this is going quickly, just caught up.
Weighed 11stone10 this morning, 164lbs, which is awful. I used to hover around the lower end of 10 stone. Ideally want to get below 10.7, and evently get to 9.7 or lower.
Today I've had two babybels for breakfast and lunch was two thighs, mixed leaves, few plum tomatos, mozzarella pearls and big glug of extra virgin olive oil. Not sure what dinner will be yet.
I've drunk nearly 1.5l of water so far.

bellalurgy · 22/05/2017 14:05

york what's worked best for me with the muffin quiche things is oil. Just heat it up in the muffin tin before you put the egg etc in. It sort of creates a seal as the outside of the egg cooks quickly. I couldn't get on with the cases or with buttering the pan.

JiminnyCricket · 22/05/2017 14:09

PlymouthMaid1 I have a carby DP too Grin

He's not doing this WOE with me, but since we both work full time and only have 1 meal of the day eaten together, it works well.

He will eat his carbs etc during the day and eat a low carb dinner with me in the evening. If he's hungry later on he'll have a sandwich but this hasnt happened yet!

Also, if I make a curry and have cauli rice, he has a microwave sachet of real rice instead of cauli rice.

If we do a roast dinner, he'll have the same veg and meat and gravy as me but with some aunt bessie's roast potatoes and a yorkshire chucked in the oven.

To keep his calories in check (he's also obese) now that we dont do low fat products, he's cut back massively on sugar during the day and if I make something really high in fat, he wont have the added carbs he'd normally have because he's accepted now that it's fat that stops hunger not carbs.

I really really wish he's give up carby stuff all together but it's just not in him to do that. He'll lose weight by cutting down massively on the crap he eats between meals which he's started to do by virtue of the fact he's less hungry now.

End of the day, I've taken the view that I can't force him to change his eating habits, but hopefuly while I shrink he'll accept this WOE is good for you and start doing the same :)

Veryflummoxed · 22/05/2017 14:20

Might be worth casually mentioning to him that med do even better than women on this WOE. My dh lost over three stone first bootcamp and I know he's not alone in this.

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 22/05/2017 14:23

I cant add my weight to the spread sheet because i'm on my phone till later, but I'm 12st3, need to lose half a stone to be within healthy weight range but long term would like to lose 2 stone.

B: Mushroom Omnlette with some rocket.

L: Chicken and avocado salad with mayo.

D: Undecided. Probably chicken or tuna with veg. Maybe broccoli and stilton soup

S: just chomped some cucumber chunks

HemanOrSheRa · 22/05/2017 14:28

No I don't have the packet Stunt. It's in the recycling bag at work. It did say Baked chorizo crisps on the packet. Although funnily enough the friend that I shared them with said 'I was looking at these and wondered who bought them. Now I know!' Grin. She is Spanish (if that matters) and said to just slice chorizo very thinly and bake or pan fry.

Thank you for the tips regarding prepped meats and letting yogurt culture for longer too Stunt. I have to do a night on call most weeks plus whole weekends. I get tired and HUNGRY and need to make sure I have things I can grab and cook easily if I've been up all night as well as working during the day too.

I love crispy chicken wings and always make my own. I have just checked and Franks Red Hot Wings Sauce is 2g/100g! Yay! It is very spicy so you don't need much and I often mix it with melted butter before brushing onto chicken wings and grilling them until the skin is crisp. I cook them through first in the pressure cooker until they are tender. I shall be having those later on this week Smile.

BahHumbygge · 22/05/2017 14:32

Signing in for the first time.

Weigh in this morning was 60.6 kg or 133.6 lbs. My weight earlier in the year topped 65kg, and as I'm only a couple of whiskers over 5'1", I was squarely into overweight territory. I've been gluten free (fab for not giving into cake temptation) since november & low key low carb since earlier this year... the weight's been coming off slowly... 1/2lb here & there. Still been having the odd 1/4 cup of rice, potato wedges, dark choc and cider etc, so those are verboten for the duration.

So far today I've had
B: Aldi authentic greek yoghurt with double cream & splash of vanilla
L: 2 Aldi black pudding sausages (3.9g carb each), mushrooms, 1 cherry tomato, poached egg.
Reg tea, mint tea, water

D: will be tuna steak, not sure what with yet

Bluebell75 · 22/05/2017 14:33

Added my weight to the spreadsheet but may have fallen at the first hurdle, I entered it in the blue cell Confused !! Apologies if I've messed up my line.

B: Cold meats, cheese and olives
L: Egg and bacon salad with ranch dressing, slices of chicken and chorizo crisps (they are so good!)
D: Not sure yet but have courgetti so probably meatballs

1 litre of water so far, I know it needs to be more but believe me, this is good for me.

runningtogetskinny · 22/05/2017 14:33

Stuntnun - thank you 😊

Is that possible? I've only had tomatoes, leaves, beef, red kidney beans, a tangerine and a pear and I'm WAY over my carbs! 79g!! Oops Confused

StuntNun · 22/05/2017 14:34

Definitely possible Running. Kidney beans, tangerines and pears are off the menu on Bootcamp.

StuntNun · 22/05/2017 14:38

I have finished my experiment and can now inform you all that the best way to make chorizo crisps is to microwave them on a piece of kitchen towel for 80 seconds (depending on your microwave's power). This produced an attractively coloured finished appearance and a crunchy texture with a hint of chewiness. The chorizo that I dry fried was similar in appearance, taste and texture but it was more effort and more washing up. The baked chorizo (180C for five minutes) was even more faff with heating up the oven and the texture was dry and crumbly.

You're welcome! Wink

WorshipTheGourd · 22/05/2017 14:41

I have joined :)
I have lost 2.5st but need to lose another 7.5.
So, a weigh (geddit?) to go. I have mobility probs and am in middle of surgeries so am pinning lots of hopes on this...
I HAVE to do this!

HemanOrSheRa · 22/05/2017 14:42

Oh my days! They look delicious Stunt. I had thin slices of very soft brie on some of my M&S ones earlier. The rest I just stuffed in my mouth.

Dumdedumdedum · 22/05/2017 14:44

Thanks, StuntNun, for sacrificing yourself in the line of duty Grin I'm looking forward to giving those a try, fortunately, I happen to have some chorizo in the fridge!

Dumdedumdedum · 22/05/2017 14:45

Weigh to go, WorshipTheGourd! You can do it!
