Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

ah thanks for that antimatter - think I did see it once before but will plough through now for more ideas. I rather think I am liking the possibilities of cheese crisps too much not that i have tried them yet. I even forced myself to eat celery which I loathe as I was desperate for something crispy.

JiminnyCricket · 25/05/2017 14:00

Struggling today. In a glass office so the place is like a sauna and they've hired an icecream truck and are giving everyone free icecreams.. I'm avoiding the carpark but all my colleagues are all bringing them back upstairs Sad

I just want to be in a field somewhere with my dogs in this weather, or out for a lovely long walk in the sunshine. I think my plan after work is to take them down to the river for a paddle and a good run around before dinner.

Good thing about this weather, it's a complete apitite killer. Had to force lunch down and although I finished it, it was an effort. I've only been managing about 800cals a dqy for the last 3 days due to reduced apitite, so I really do need to make sure I'm eating enough!

Daisy62 · 25/05/2017 14:27

Plymouth, I'm a veggie (don't eat fish) and I really enjoyed my dinner last night - grilled aubergine slices (done with olive oil in a griddle pan), cubed blue cheese, mixed into large salad. A few almonds on the top. Tonight will be similar, but halloumi instead of aubergine/blue cheese. Tomorrow, leeks wrapped in grilled aubergine slices with smoked paprika (quite bacony), grated cheese and cream on top, and bake. Haven't looked at the recipe thread yet, but planning to. I agree, meat would be easier - I'm not finding it too bad as the weather is hot, but in winter I'd be really missing pulses, rice and nuts. I'm having some nuts, but trying not to keep them to a minimum.

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 14:34

Are any of the sports drinks suitable for low carbers?
I'm thinking my body is rebelling against the low potassium.
Until I started this, I've been used to eating a banana and an orange per day (both have high levels of potassium)

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 14:41

is it week three that we get to eat strawberries?

Never mind the strawberries, when can we get to eat the cocounut bread? Smile
I notice that some seem to be making this bread already. How is that possible Confused
Are we all at different stages? Are some people already onbootcamp light already?

JiminnyCricket · 25/05/2017 14:44

ASD and are both on our second boot camps in a row, so technically week 15 and so have been through Keto adaption already, hence able to have coconut break without it stalling us :) there's a few others who are on their second and even third boot camps!

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 14:44

Plymouth, the next time you have celery, chop it into bite size pieces. Slice up some cheese into similar size as the celery.
Eat each piece of celery with a piece of cheese.
I dislike celery, but eating it with cheese makes it palatable.

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 14:46

Oh OK Jiminny.
I'm jealous! That coconut bread is calling out to me.
and the strawberries and cream.

That reminds me, I still have my coffee and cream to look forward to today. I think I'll have it now Smile

Stay strong, everybody. Especially those who are having to suffer hot workplaces today x

PlymouthMaid1 · 25/05/2017 15:02

Style - that is exactly what I did with the celery and it masked it nicely - was almost a cheese and cracker effect in my head.

nekobus · 25/05/2017 15:25

Time I have c&p the veg and fruit carbs count lists and printed them out to stick on the fridge. Helps to have them in my face to remind me.

BIWI have an amazing time in Malta!

Yorkshire I like the chicken parfait (it's just pate really) from ALDI. Comes in a 2 pack so nicely portioned to take to work with some celery and cucumber for dipping. 2.1g carbs per 100g I don't find it livery and I hate liver Grin

I definitely can't be trusted with berries! I always want more! I get round this by having a bag of mixed berries in the freezer (Sainsbury's basics are good - 6g per 100g) the I just shake out 50-100g and defrost in microwave- that way I'm not finishing a whole punnet of fresh berries 'before they go off'! Wink

Can't wait to hear how these coconut breads taste! I've not bought coconut flour before and have read that they vary wildly in the stated carb counts - any recommendations?

Today:
B - flax bread, butter, marmite (I know flax bread is BClite but it was the last 2 tiny slices from a loaf) FF total, cream, vanilla powder, flax meal
L - haloumi salad (out for lunch) ditched the bread it came with but did have a few sweet potato chips (it was my first venture out of the house since having my operation I wanted to treat myself 🙁) asked for cream for my coffee but they only had squirty so I declined
D - something with mince (needs cooked) maybe LC chilli with no beans. Any ideas?
S - none yet, have olives at the ready!

W - have had 1.5L need to have same again! Quite looking forward to dropping into next level of pounds on the water table so I don't have to drink so much water!!!

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 15:33

I wonder why so many restaurants don't provide cream with coffee. Coffee tastes so much nicer with cream.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 25/05/2017 15:34

So let me get this straight, from week 3 I can have flax bread and strawberries and cream?Grin. Egg and soldiers here I come!

ilovecherries · 25/05/2017 15:40

Because I work from home, I spend a lot of time working in coffee shops when I want a bit of company. I was slightly horrified to discover how many carbs I had been consuming in lattes, and resigned myself to that being a thing of the past. But in an effort to buck myself up this afternoon I took myself and my laptop off to my local costa, resigned to black tea. Tentatively asked if they had pouring double cream. They did! Given how crap I'm feeling, it cheered me enormously to realise I can still do something that is an integral part of my day - sit in Costa with a coffee! Can't believe how much it lifted me. :)

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 15:46

I think I'm going to get some low carb sausages tomorrow.
It will make a tasty change from eggs, fish, chicken and bacon.

And mussels. Full of potassium I believe.

styledilemma · 25/05/2017 15:49

I still don't get why milk has carbs but cream doesn't.
It's probably something obvious.

why is it OK to have a coffee and then add thick cream but not a latte?

I can highly recommend making yourself a coffee then adding a good dose of cream to it.
My energy levels were a bit low earlier and as soon as I had that injection of pure fat, I seemed to perk up.
It's as if my body was craving more fat.

ASDismynormality · 25/05/2017 15:50

nekobus. I used Tiana coconut flour. It's alright but I won't make the bread in a hurry again. I think I'm so used to eating without I don't need it.

explodingkittens · 25/05/2017 15:59

Because cream is mainly fat, style but milk (especially skimmed or semi-skimmed, you know the 'healthy' milks!) has much less fat and much more sugar, in the form of lactose.

I also cannot be trusted with cream. I LOVE it.

nekobus · 25/05/2017 15:59

Thanks ASD! Overly eggy isn't so nice. I do like the flax & almond bread so will be making more of that once on BCLite. Will wait to hear how jimmny's coconut bread turns out

TimeIhadaNameChange · 25/05/2017 16:00

styledilemma it's because cream has the higher percentage fat, whereas milk has a higher percentage of everything else, including the carbs.

I know it seems confusing, I'm having a hard time getting my head round it too!

BIWI · 25/05/2017 16:06

I see we have a huge number of posts on this thread, which should guests it will fill up before Monday! Please could I ask someone to start a new one if/when it reaches 1000?!

I do have my iPad with me but have no idea when I will have access to wifi!

Thanks
Smile

SayrraT · 25/05/2017 16:10

Yes, no problem BIWI Smile

MaryThorne · 25/05/2017 16:23

I've just tried the exploded Babybel - I love them, so much easier and quicker than making cheese crisps!

MOIST · 25/05/2017 16:36

My exploded babybel broke the plate. Grin
