Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

GetReady aaah the tigger phase Grin

My experience was 3 days of wired energy levels, like anervous energy type thing but despite lack of sleep, no tiredness. It doesnt last :) I found the nightol you get over the counter at the chemist did the trick :)

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 15:16

I have a question about cream in coffee.

Really? Proper double thick cream? Is that better than just drinking it black?

I bought (single) pouring cream and use that. It's the same as if you order a black coffee and they bring it in the little jug.
I could quite happily live on the coffee and cream and nothing else. But I would be bouncing off the walls with all the caffeine.

BIWI · 24/05/2017 15:17

Double cream is better as it has a higher fat content.

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 15:18

Can someone reassure me that all this excess fat and cream and greasy food etc isn't going to clog my arteries?
I know I've probably been 'brainwashed' into thinking it will, but I feel I need a bit of extra assurance. Shock

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 15:19

BIWI I stuck that recipe in MFP with the coconut flour I have (they vary in carb levels) and it comes out at 3g carb per serving, 134 calories and it's 80% fat so one of the better low carb bread recipes I've seen.

I'll try it later with butter and after the initial taste test I bet it would be awesome with pate :)

MaryThorne · 24/05/2017 15:20

@styledilemma there's a good explanation here of why saturated fat isn't bad www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fears#saturated-fat

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 15:22

Survived the cafe. Just had coffee and cream.

Well done Cherrypi. It's tough when others around you are eating cake.

GetReady · 24/05/2017 15:24

If you eat buttery scrambled eggs you HAVE to try garlic pepper on them (Tesco) - OMG, so amazing!!!

Week 1 - Pre-Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - Off we go!
styledilemma · 24/05/2017 15:27

thanks Mary. I will check that out.

The low carb bread with coconut flour sounds good.
I'm assuming we will have to wait a few weeks before we can eat something like that? Confused Bootcamp Light?

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 15:27

styledilemma have 5 studies that prove there's no link between saturated fat and heart disease, enjoy :)

authoritynutrition.com/5-studies-on-saturated-fat/

On a more general note: The link between heart health and satfat comes from epodemiological studies. This is where they look at what populations eat and their levels of heart disease. It's the same methodology was used to show that vaccines cause autism and you can even proove that excess beard hair reduces your risk of cancer Hmm. You can also prove aeroplane travel causes obesity and bacon gives you genital warts using the same scientific method Grin. Epodemiological studies can only ever show CORRELATION, they can't show CAUSALITY. For every epodemiological study (there's 3 of them) there's 12 clinical trials which show no correlation and actually in some cases that eating a low fat diet is horrendously bad for your overall health! Only clinical trials can show causality and the evidence from those is that saturated fat has no effect what so ever on serum cholesterol, raises total cholesterol by raising HDL "good" cholesterol and in 1 study even showed that it can lower small, dense LDL cholesterol which is the stuff you don't want on your lipid profile :)

I've had 15 weeks of researching this shit, can you tell? Grin

GetReady · 24/05/2017 15:27

Jiminy - tigger? Lol!

Yeah, it's a bit like that!!! Shame (maybe!?) that it won't last!

Naschkatze · 24/05/2017 15:55

Flowers to everyone suffering! I naively thought, how bad can it be?!
Luckily it didn't last long this morning and after reaching for the carbs and sugar in desperation this morning I've stuck with it the rest of the day.

B - Belvita breakfast biscuit to stop me collapsing on the kitchen floor (8.3g of carbs! Shock dread to think about the sugar.)
Then FF yoghurt, double cream with some vanilla extract.
L - 2 small chicken thighs, salad leaves, cucumber, tomato with a rapeseed oil dressing. + 3 M&S Serrano ham and manchego rolls! yum!
Snacks - 6 Brazil nuts with salt, tea with milk, and some cheddar crisps à la Biwi.
D will be - Chilli con carne (no beans) cauliflower rice, broccoli and green beans with butter.
Possibly more yoghurt and some berries if I fancy it.

Naschkatze · 24/05/2017 15:57

I meant to say, Nutracheck thinks that's about 40g carbs for today. Do I need more?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/05/2017 16:04

Just wanted to pop on and say that Sayrra's photos were terrific. You should be proud.

Very busy and stressful morning today so breakfast was coffee with cream, then scoffed some tuna mayonnaise at around 11.00 am, then off to Pilates and home for a lovely artichoke dipped in butter, and a few shavings of cheddar cheese.

My meal planning needs a bit of work, eh? Hmm

Will try to redeem myself with dinner--Mediterranean pork chops and steamed asparagus, possibly dipped in butter as well.

Definitely need to go shopping and get more proper food in. Don't miss sugar at all, but then I'm not much of a sweet toother. No problem drinking the water, either, though I do have to time my wee strategically when I'm out and about. Wink

Anyway, just wanted to check in as that's good motivation, as is reading the posts. Feeling very positive.

HemanOrSheRa · 24/05/2017 16:08

Thank you Shiny, Chester and Scooby! Pork belly with creamy mushroom sauce it is Smile.

Veryflummoxed · 24/05/2017 16:17

Excited to see BIWI's bread Jimminy I want to eat it with Getready's scrambled egg and garlic pepper.

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 16:17

Sayrrah, I would love to have your strength!

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 16:19

I am going to get meself some of that Garlic Pepper. Smile
I bought garlic mayo today and I'm not sure if I'm struck on it. I will still use all of it.
I love black pepper though, so I'm sure I will love garlic pepper.

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 16:21

BIWI'S when can we start eating that bread?
Do we have to wait till we're finished Bootcamp or can stuff like that be phased in eventually?
I know, it will probably all be revealed eventually. I need to be patient. but I also need that bread Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 24/05/2017 16:21

Just been rereading the spreadsheet.

Could you confirm: are tomatoes and green beans allowed atm or not? Was avoiding both, but it would be great if I could include them.

Thanks!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 24/05/2017 16:22

Ignore that, I've searched this thread and it seems both are being eaten by others, so I shall add them in.

BTW can someone check the 'vegetables' tab of the spreadsheet, please? Something seems to have gone wrong.

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 16:34

Green beans are a no, too carby and tomatoes needs to be very sparing :)

Wait until I've tested the bread first! Generally low carb bread has a really eggy flavour. I'm also skeptical this will rise so I'm going to wisk the egg whites and add the yolks in seporately. Wait for BIWI to respond, but I reckon it would be ok for bootcamp light (after your first 2 weeks) but not until then :)

AdalindSchade · 24/05/2017 16:38

Oh no I hadn't spotted that green beans aren't allowed. Sadface.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 24/05/2017 16:39

Sayrra, you look terrific and must be so strong to do that.

Meals today:

  • ff yoghurt with a small sprinkling of flax seeds and cinnamon
  • salami haloumi wraps with cucumber
  • mackerel with spinach, mushroom and courgette ribbons sautéed in lots of butter
ilovecherries · 24/05/2017 16:51

The bean thing is confusing me (and for some reason the spreadsheet for vegetables is all out of alignment for me, so not sure if I'm reading it right). What is meant by a green bean? I grew up thinking that referred to a small bean shaped veg which we called a broad bean. Is that what is excluded? Or is the thing I grew up calling a green runner also excluded (because I know some people also refer to those as beans).
