Evening all!

I'm starting this thread now as I have to leave early for work tomorrow. and I know how keen you'll all be to weigh-in first thing, so won't want to wait until I can get round to getting it up and running Grin

Here's the link to the lovely shiny new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness ]] for which many thanks, SayrraT.

Your name should be on it, but if it isn't, just add it at the bottom. Don't try and re-alphabetise the list - Sayrra or Wombattoo will do that later.

And don't touch the blue cells!!!

I will go back and catch up with the thread but just had to come in to say WOW Sayrra!! You look amazing and so strong. I do remember your photoshoot from last BC, well done you you look beautiful Smile

Good luck in the interview achange

Yesterday:
B - Brie, butter and marmite, creamy coffee
L - Thai green curry w prawns
D - chicken breast wrapped in bacon stuffed with boursin, courgette and broccoli with butter
S - ff total with cream and ground flax
3L water plus several teas with soya milk

Today:
B - hb eggs and butter
L - leftover chicken, coleslaw, cucumber
D - will be salmon fillet with LC veg
S - hoping not to snack!
Have had 750 water so far, need a few more of these!!!

A few questions
Jiminny how do you make your coconut coffee - do you have to whiz it up? And is coconut cream the stuff that comes in a sort of block?
Would you recommend cutting dairy to see if it speeds things up?

Someone (sorry can't remember who) posted about issues with soya milk and then cutting this out- has it helped? Did you read about this somewhere? I drink a lot of soya milk, the ones I get are 0 carbs per 100ml, I probably have 4 cups of tea a day with 60ml in each.

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 24/05/2017 13:45

Heman

I had a very simular meal last night, paprika pork belly slices (I had two - it was too much) with creamy garlic Mushrooms and asparagus. Delicious but my portion was well too big, it was very rich and I was done in aftewards.

WorshipTheGourd · 24/05/2017 13:48

Just had 6 thin slices of salami and a cup of cocoa with cream (yuk, much prefer 75.% water and 25% milk. hmm).

Banging banging headache. Still, if I fall off the wagon I only have to go through this again tomorrow!

Just finished an excellent book: 'The Girl on the Train'. highly recommend. Am writing my own book. 26K words so far (in 3 weeks).
Ow, my head hurts...

dustmotesinthesun · 24/05/2017 13:49

2lbs a week isn't actually slow weight loss. myshinything. Some people lose masses at the beginning of a diet partly because of losing water weight and partly because if you're very big you shed quickly at first. 2lbs a week is very respectable. Plenty just lose 1/2 a pound to a pound a week. So you're doing great. I'd kill for a steady 2lbs a week.

I just had a size 12 rain coat delivered and it's hanging off me. It's Seasalt and I suspect it's just cut very generously but Shock The idea of sending it back and buying a 10 is pretty bonkers. The universe has been turned on its head or something. I feel great

dustmotesinthesun · 24/05/2017 13:57

Oh and I just wanted to add girgeous photos Sayrra

MyShinyThing · 24/05/2017 14:06

I know that really Dust, I'm just always a little jealous of some of the initial 8lb loses people see for their first week Blush

I genuinely am happy with a steady 2lbs, especially as previous low cal diets are normally about 1/2 lb a week for me & are such hard work. They're also usually accompanied by constant cravings and dizziness. The last time I properly calorie counted I passed out a couple of times just standing up! It's never once happened when eating LCHF.

Well done on the size 10! Take it as a NSV even if it is generously cut.

cathyandclare · 24/05/2017 14:09

Just had the M and S chorizo crisps, was kind of gutted, they weren't very crispy at all, more like if you've left them unwrapped in the fridge and they've gone a bit past it although I ate them all in ten seconds flat obviously

I'm going to try the trademarked MN microwave on kitchen roll method next...

ShastaBeast · 24/05/2017 14:14

Thanks stunt, I remember seeing a graph with insulin spikes after eating carbs then a lower spike with protein. I'll keep up the protein as I need my muscles to keep fit and avoid deteriorating back pain. I'm not in the gym or dieting for pain, or weightloss, anymore but it has helped, I'm much less disabled now. Glutes need more work and it's fashionable to have a big bum now!

I'm barely losing a pound a week so 2 is fast. I lost 3lb in week two but gained 1lb and then stalled for a couple of weeks, dropped another two and another stall. I suspect others may have similar coming up which can be dispiriting, although it's such a yummy diet it's easier to stick to.

Worship - have you see the film of the girl on the train? I read the book a while ago.

BahHumbygge · 24/05/2017 14:19

Well, totally crap day yesterday. I had the usual ff greek yoghurt with double cream for breakfast, boiled egg with asparagus for lunch, along with several slices of gouda, couple of raw cherry tomatoes.

By mid afternoon I was getting a bit headachey, and by dinner time I was feeling seriously nauseous... all I could manage was another slice of cheese and a mug of mint tea Sad Envy by bedtime I was almost gipping.

Makes me realise there's such a big difference between doing low-ish carb like I've been doing over the past few weeks and sub-20 keto carb.

I know I prob didn't drink enough water yesterday... I had three pints, 2 mugs reg tea, 2 mugs mint & a coffee.

Today I'm still feeling a bit off key, but much better.

Breakfast: FF greek yoghurt & dbl cream. Coffee & cream
Brunch: boiled egg with two smoked mackerel strips as dippers
Lunch: poached egg on pile of watercress, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1/4 avocado
Dinner will be salt and chilli pork belly from Aldi, huge pile of buttery spring greens and cauli.
And washed down with loads of water Smile

Cherrypi · 24/05/2017 14:36

Survived the cafe. Just had coffee and cream. Wasn't hungry after the huge omelette for breakfast. Lunch was kippers and salad followed by an avocado. Still fancy a biscuit. Not hungry so definitely a psychological biscuit as it were. Just want the sugar high. May try a hot drink.

WorshipTheGourd · 24/05/2017 14:40

ShastaBeast no, not seen the film. Picked the book up at the weekend at the free book exchange bit at ... the Train Station. I was the girl on the train Grin

Cannot shift this headache, and I never get headaches.
Have coffee and cake meetings tomorrow and Friday.
Need to avoid the cake. Might go for a Mocha - that will help!

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 14:44

nekobus I'm yet to perfect my coconut coffee recipe, but at the moment I'm using this stuff and coconut oil: www.alpro.com/uk/products/cream-variation/coconut-cuisine?gclid=CjwKEAjw3pTJBRChgZ3e7s_YhAkSJAASG9VrpHTnw1vt5JUZ33K6Dp-yVFfOC04lwCqqlWPQ3bvtZhoCK2jw_wcB#productrange

Next week I plan to try the tinned kind of full fat coconut milk and the week after that I'm going to try the blocks of coconut cream.

At the moment I put 50ml in a mug, add my teaspoon of solid coconut oil and microwave for 15 seconds. Then mix it a lot with a teaspoon before adding the coffee. It does get a few oily globs in it if you let it sit but it's fine to drink and tastes pretty good :)

In terms of dairy: I experimented with giving it up last week for the first time since starting 15 weeks ago. I've been losing 1-2lbs a week but recently I'd stopped losing consistantly and had started losing and gaining the same 2 lbs and kept seeing the same bloody number on the scales (damn you, 16st 11lbs!!). I gave up dairy on Monday 15th, weighed in on Monday 22nd and dropped 8lbs in a week Blush

I'm calling this a fluke at the moment and I refuse to believe it makes that much of a difference for me until I've seen the same thing happen over a few weeks. I'm not expecting a loss at all this week after my mammoth 8lb drop last week, in fact I fully expect to gain a bit of it back, so I'll stay off dairy for the month of June and if by the end of June I'm showing more significant losses than in April, I'll call it proven Grin

I'm not going completely dairy free, I'm allowing for some soft cheese at the weekend and a small amount of mozzerella today and tomorrow on my lunches. For context, before I was having a creamy coffee every morning and cheese 3 or 4 times a week so the reduction is significant.

I'm going for less dairy rather than no dairy :)

MyShinyThing I lost 8lbs my first week and carrie don losing 3 or 4 lbs a week for the first 4 weeks or so. I was 18st 5lbs though! After that initial zippy phase, I then stalled pretty much for 5 weeks and my rate of weight loss dropped to an average of 1.5lbs a week. I complained like a trooper on the last BC thread about it! Blush.. however, 15 weeks in I just had another whoosh which takes me to 30lbs lost in 15 weeks, or exactly 2lbs a week :) My point is, ignore the super whizzy losses at first, they mean nothing and the likelihood is it will eventually stall and average itself out to what you're losing now. If anything, you body is just more sensible! Grin

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 14:51

WorshipTheGourd nooo no mocha, the sugar!

The reason you're headachy is because you're not committed. If you're still having enough carbs to keep yourself in glycolysis but not enough to sustain you, you're going to be feeling awful because your body will be trying to keep you going on reduced carbs, but not reduced enough to flip you into ketosis.

BIWI · 24/05/2017 14:53

If you're suffering from a headache, please take something for it! Paracetamol is good (and better than ibuprofen, as the latter is implicated with water retention, apparently)

OP posts:
BIWI · 24/05/2017 14:53

Also, just came across this recipe

If it comes out anything like the photo, looks well worth trying!

AdalindSchade · 24/05/2017 14:53

worship you need to be more committed if you want this to work. A mocha is high carb and high sugar. Milk and sugar are not compatible with the strict part of bootcamp because they are not low carb.

GetReady · 24/05/2017 15:00

That bread looks amazing! Is coconut flour ok at this stage?

Got for total yoghurt - it's a bit too moreish!!!!! 😳

GetReady · 24/05/2017 15:03

*some

Stupid fingers autocorrect!

styledilemma · 24/05/2017 15:04

Hi fellow LC'rs!

B - 1 whole avocado plus a soft boiled egg.
L - M & S Rocket, cucumber, tomato, olive and feta cheese salad with an oil dressing , plus a thin slice of Gouda cheese for extra fat.
S - 1/4 packet of pork scratchings. Threw the rest away as they tasted beyond disgusting
D - I will be eating sirloin steak (with most of the fat left on) giant baked mushroom with butter and the rest of the rocket salad (minus tomatos)

I don't seem to be snacking as much today, which is good.

I'm currently enjoying a cup of coffee with single pouring cream. Heaven Smile

JiminnyCricket · 24/05/2017 15:05

BIWI I shall try that bread recipe tonight in the name of science!

I have tons of coconut flour in the cupboard so I'll report back!

WorshipTheGourd · 24/05/2017 15:05

OK!!! I hear you - no Mocha!!! Grin I will have coffee and cream.

I have been perfect today so far. Halo

The only thing I am still craving is two teaspoons of cocoa powder (6g/100g carbs) made up with cream. This helps enormously.

I see that I don't want to prolong this phase of feeling so rough...

GetReady · 24/05/2017 15:06

Is anyone else 'jittery' and having trouble sleeping???

Might be the espressos, but I think it's the lchf!

WorshipTheGourd · 24/05/2017 15:07

I cant mess around with my meds as I had surgery recently so am not changing those. I think I'm doing good. I just need to do a bit better.

MaryThorne · 24/05/2017 15:09

Thanks @JiminnyCricket. Unfortunately the dressing on the salad was just a light drizzle so all in all it was too low fat and I'm hungry already. Snack of coffee with cream and Awfully Posh pork crackling.

Next time I'll ask for extra dressing as well as no croutons!

Naschkatze · 24/05/2017 15:12

@BIWI
Thank you - I'm feeling a lot better now.

Should I up the carbs by eating more veg, fruit and nuts or add in a portion of starchy carbohydrates? If I do track it what kind of number should I be looking for?
I don't feel hungry through the day but obviously my body is objecting to not having enough over night.

When I fed LO last night I had some FF yoghurt and a spoon of coconut oil (is it just me that likes it straight from the jar? 😳) but that clearly wasn't enough!
