So our last week! Here's the Spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

One more week could see another couple of pounds off.

Fingers crossed, and good luck! Flowers

Captain that looks delicious, really delicious... But TINY. That is half of my typical dinner size. Is this typical for you? Is it typical for others? I'm wondering if my portion sizes are a reason why I've stalled...

CaptainBraandPants · 20/04/2017 21:50

Piss it does look tiny, doesn't it? I think I should become an estate agents photograher. Grin it's actually a quarter pounder - I made four burgers from a pound of mince, plus 60g cheese. And it's on top of a large portobello mushroom.

greengoose21 · 20/04/2017 21:58

Double cream it is then.

Captain, that really does look small. Is it on a massive plate? Or far away? (Squeezing both a Father Ted and an Alan Partridge reference in thereWink)

My plates of food are mostly huge, salads and veggies predominantly, but other stuff too. I had fathead pizza tonight and I'd filled the plate so full of salad I had to put the pizza on the top, rather than at the side.

How I've lost weight I don't know, but I definitely think the fact that I can eat such sizeable plates of delicious food has helped me stay the course.

PissPotPourri · 20/04/2017 21:59

So you have HUGE dinner plates!

PissPotPourri · 20/04/2017 22:00

X post greengoose!

greengoose21 · 20/04/2017 22:04

Pisspotpourri I'll post some portion size photos tomorrow, which will reassure you you aren't alone!

SayrraT · 20/04/2017 22:12

I tried to make gnocchi last night, it worked fairly well but you need to use a saucy sauce as they ended up a bit dry.

I whisked ricotta cheese with an egg and some ground almonds (no idea of quality, I just threw some in). Then rolled into balls and cooked in the oven for a bit then served with mince sauce stuff (mince, chopped tomatoes, garlic and mascarpone). They were a hit with my mum and dad but not OH or brother Grin

Argh! Daily weighing is doing my tree in. I've steadily gained weight all week according to my crappy scales and it's so demotivating!!

Back to a weekly weigh in on the proper scales at Tesco I think. Angry

Kleptronic · 21/04/2017 08:06

No alcohol in the first 2 weeks Jim, in moderation after that, vodka and soda is ok.

dustmotesinthesun · 21/04/2017 11:50

Portion sizes seem to vary wildly between people I find. Some people can eat loads and still lose lots.
I made this today. Shepherds pie with a cauli and broccoli mash, with grated mozarella on top. It smells so good, i want to eat it now. Being good and waiting until lunch.

dustmotesinthesun · 21/04/2017 12:59

It was so good. Will definitely be making cauli mash again. Really couldn't tell much difference. I have more for another couple of meals which is nice. Highly recommend it!

CaptainBraandPants · 21/04/2017 13:15

I don't eat massive meals - I find I don't need to with this woe, but I really do think my photo was misleading.
Dust that looks lovely, now I would have a quarter of that for a meal, with some veg. Sometimes, I may not be able to finish it all, but probably 7/10 times I would.
Is that similar portion size to others? getting paranoid now Grin
Today having:
B - 2x creamy coffee
L - leftover burger with salad
D - creamy chicken casserole with veg (will post photo)

My Dad is unfortunately back in hospital, he was only out a week! So, back over to visit tomorrow, so will be preparing food I can eat on the go. Will also be in the car for about six hours tomorrow, so might go for a run tonight.

dustmotesinthesun · 21/04/2017 13:22

I think I'm eating more than you Captain because I eat breakfast. I do endlessly worry about how much I should be eating on this woe and whether I'm having too much. I know I shouldn't. Blush I just have a very long standing belief that I can't possibly lose weight and I lose it slowly so am always trying to convince myself that I am in fact losing at all. If anyone can take photos of their meals over an average day and share what they're having, I'd be so interested to see. I do try to stick to a palm sized portion of protein and two fistfuls of veg, plus just eat til I'm full.

I ate a third of my shepherd's pie but the casserole dish is small - really it's for one or two portions of something. It's hard to gauge the size of it in the photo

BIWI · 21/04/2017 16:48

@dustmotesinthesun You don't necessarily have to have breakfast (certainly not after the first two weeks of Bootcamp).

And if you were to read "Breakfast is a Dangerous Meal" by Terence Kealey you'd see that skipping breakfast can be a positive thing - not just from the point of view of weight loss but also your health

dust that shepherd's pie looks fantastic. I small breakfast and lunches but larger meal at teatime. I'm quite often not hungry at teatime but it's DH main meal of the day so I feel obliged to eat with him. He does cater to this woe though Grin

Captain I hope all goes ok for your dad Thanks

Hesdead stop weighing every day. That way madness lies! Smile

wombattoo · 21/04/2017 18:24

*I usually eat small breakfast etc that should say

Hesdeadjim · 21/04/2017 19:33

First run off a treadmill and out in public this evening.. made significantly more complicated but infinitely more entertaining for the general public by the addition of basset hound 'obstacles'.... Elvis particularly enjoys running by your side barking at you to speed up so he can race you... who needs a personal trainer eh?? Hmm

I bought comedy running t shirts in anticipation of 'fat person running' backlash but we didn't see anyone else on the whole trail Grin

Right, critique this meal size then:
Creamy chicken and cauliflower casserole with asparagus sautéed in butter and courgetti fried with cream cheese.
Grin

CaptainBraandPants · 21/04/2017 20:15

Although, now is probably the time to admit that I ate all the asparagus and courgetti, but only half of the casserole and I was stuffed!
I went for a run as soon as I got home from work and I was hungry afterwards and knew DH wouldn't be home and have walked the dog for several hours, so I had two slices of the flax bread with butter as a snack and I think that took the edge off my appetite.

Hesdead well done on the run and I love the T-shirt. I almost bought a similar zombie one once, but I didn't like the material it was made of. Are you doing C25K or doing your own thing? I'm on week 4 of C25K (again).

Hesdeadjim · 21/04/2017 20:37

cap I'm doing the zombies! Run! C25k program. Got to week 4 on a treadmill but I've restarted from week 1 for out on the road because I gave myself shin splints (grr)

Hesdeadjim · 21/04/2017 20:38

Also your meal looks about the size I would eat. For comparison this was my dinner this evening:

Salmon is fried in coconut oil and the kale is cooked in butter Grin

Our last week - Spring Low Carb Bootcamp
CaptainBraandPants · 21/04/2017 20:42

Hesdead you definitely need the zombie T shirt then. Grin I think running is much better outside, I get bored on a treadmill. Also, apparently, you get a better shaped bottom. Shock Grin
The salmon looks lovely and very similar in size to what I had on Tuesday, so I think I will stop being paranoid about my meal sizes. Thanks.

dustmotesinthesun · 21/04/2017 21:29

Ok phew those meals look like my portions. Brilliant

Well done on the running Hesdead. I hope you never get a nasty comment. Some people are just arseholes. You're doing amazingly.

Biwi i would actually happily not eat breakfast but unfortunately my body thinks it's a delicate Victorian lady. Any sign of missing a meal and I crash very severely and get stuck in bed for days (I have M.E). I do wonder whether a couple of fat bombs would be enough to stop that (i don't drink coffee) but i can only give it a go. It would be nice getting to reduce my food bills if nothing else Wink

Since my flax bread pizza the other day my appetite has reduced a lot. Today i had avocado and bacon for brekkie, my shepherd's pie for lunch and Blush shepherd's pie for supper (it was good!!). But i went 9 hrs between lunch and supper. That is completely unheard of for me. I usually feel exhausted after 5 and just need to eat. I am loving this lack of hunger. Long may it last. It's like my body just switched into knowing what it's doing.

mrwalkensir · 21/04/2017 23:09

hi - apologies for radio silence - been on new meds that make me feel sick all the time so been a bit random as to non acidic food (and my normal fallback of watercress/asparagus etc as veg has led to a lot of discomfort). Not put on any weight, but not lost any more. Apparently should settle in a week or two so hopefully can get back properly to what suits me ie this WOE!
