So our last week! Here's the Spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

One more week could see another couple of pounds off.

Fingers crossed, and good luck! Flowers

I made the flax bread a few days ago and also flaxseed pizza. It really filled me up but also felt a bit uncomfortable and I definately sure it was that as I am normally always hungry.

It also gave me the runs for a few days, at least I assume it was that but lost 2 lbs which have come back today but am fine with that.

I have some left in the fridge but not looking forward to it but just thought it would be lovely toasted if I can find some low carb peanut butter!

CaptainBraandPants · 20/04/2017 08:57

dust I find it filling - two or three thin slices are plenty (with loads of butter). I don't eat vast quantities of it, but it hasn't made me stall, yet.
Grah those crackers look really good, I'll have to try them at the weekend.
marion I have never been called Cap'n before. I like it, it makes me want to talk like a pirate. Grin Butternut squash is fairly carby, looking on line, the grams per 100g seem to be quoted between about 8 - 12g. On the spreadsheet of fabulousness there are some tabs at the bottom which give some veg carb counts. i can't access it on my work computer. BIWI advises trying to stick mostly to veg with a carb count of less than 3g/100g. Water wise, I think I stall if I don't drink enough.
Why I have the whole earth cruncy peanut butter, which is 7.4g carb/100g. It is very moreish and I have to stop myself from just eating it straight out of the jar!

Bit achy from my run today, which is a good feeling.
Food today is planned to be:
B - creamy coffee x2
L - leftover mexican chicken with flax bread and butter
D - tex-mex casserole from the DietDoctor site
S - little bit of lincolnshire poacher cheese. Mmmm.

dustmotesinthesun · 20/04/2017 09:04

Ok great it doesn't make you stall. Yes i started feeling uncomfortable eating my pizza. I suddenly git to a point of feeling extremely full. My understanding is that with eating something like flax seeds it's really really important to drink lots in the hours after. It can bulk up in your intestine otherwise and, er, get stuck. Same with psyllium husks.

Marion yes you need to drink lots. It's important. I always struggle with that aspect a bit but do try.

BIWI · 20/04/2017 09:09

Whilst the IPD cookbook has some truly lovely recipes, it always irks me that it doesn't give carb counts - because I do believe some of the recipes are pretty high in carbs.

That said, one thing I've learnt about low carbing is that we're all different in terms of our tolerance to carbs, and so what constitutes low carb for one person could be high for another!

During the first two weeks of Bootcamp I'd definitely avoid things as carby as butternut squash, but after that I think you have to go with the flow and see what impact (if any) it has on your weight.

As long as the rest of your day/meals are low in carb, it might be OK.

I really like Meridian crunchy peanut butter - I do eat teaspoons full straight from my 1kg tub Blush.

I ate some dairy yesterday- feta and double cream, will see if it causes a stall.

Hesdeadjim · 20/04/2017 10:31

marion i completely stall for 3 days if i drink under 3 litres Blush

Whyarethebestnamestaken · 20/04/2017 11:11

Thanks for the peanut butter suggestions, I will have to have a go when I can face the flaxseed bread again.

Maybe I did not slice it thinly enough and just had too much. With the flaxseed pizza leftovers I ended up just having the toppings and throwing the base .

Lunch time Grin

Looks good hesdead!

Has anyone tried Lidl protein rolls - only 8.5g carbs per 100g. I tried one for lunch today and it was very nice and filling, only problem is I forgot that I had eliminated wheat from my diet due to stomach issues and within 20 mins had an upset stomach! At least I know what to do if I get constipated!

Does anyone else feel exceptionally naughty when they grab some food with nutrition facts on it, and everything apart from the sugar is red? Grin

I'm on the go today so desperately needed something grabbable. That was 3g carbs for the entire pack so... winner Grin

Beef brisket for dinner tonight with celariac mash and proper meat gravy.

I unfortunately had to grab a protein shake for breakfast (dodges the big stick) because no access to a kettle or cream, but I added ground flaxseed to it for extra fat so I'm learning Grin

I have a horrible desire to go for a run tonight... urgh.

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 20/04/2017 15:54

hes Stay home and do the 5 mile run equivalent, with your DH.

Read somewhere there is a lot more fluid loss if done really, really well. Wink

No sure about toasting the flax bread, I always find the toaster heat makes it go fishy.

wombattoo · 20/04/2017 16:33

Hello
The bread looks lovely, and nothing like mine did when I tried it last year. It was truly awful. Yuk
marion it's a yes to water. I get cravings and it stalls my loss when I don't drink enough. Drink up! Grin

Grah0SoontobeaFatty Shock

None of that funny business in this house, we don't get married until next April!! Halo

Sunnymorning20 · 20/04/2017 17:49

I'm still around, beginning to suss out what works and doesn't. I've realised if I eat bacon in the evening ive put a pound on the following morning, same for sausages. Too much fats are causing me a bit of an explosive tummy. Cream in my coffee gives me heartburn. I only see the scales move when ive cut back on the fats too. Most annoying.

Jim. I had a quick look and there are some low carb recipes. There are also some to avoid, butternut squash is quite carby and I saw a recipe which had cod with a breadcrumb coating. It's a good resource but you need to consider which ones are low carb enough.

Kleptronic · 20/04/2017 18:43

I tried the cloud bread Jim and it was absolutely vile. Horrible taste, horrible texture, fell apart. The least bread-like thing ever. Dreadful horrible yacky thing it was. I threw the rest in the bin.

marioncole · 20/04/2017 18:57

Excellent, will pay attention to the spreadsheet now. And drink my 3l of water

Also really hated cloud bread I'm afraid. My expwctations were high but it just wasn't worth it

CaptainBraandPants · 20/04/2017 19:56

hesdead lunch looked good.
Sunny that is really annoying. I'm sure it is fat that does it for me as it reduces my appetite so much.
Jim I'm another one who doesn't like the cloud bread as I found it too eggy, but on another BC thread, there were quite a lot of people who did like it, so might be worth trying. I make fish pie with a cheesy mashed cauliflower top, which is lovely. I make mackerel pate with equal quantities tinned mackerel to cream cheese and whiz it in the blender. I'm looking forward to trying it with the flax crackers linked to up thread.

I was feeling peckish before, so had cheese and peanut butter, but not together! Then felt fairly full by the time dinner was ready.
I made burgers with stilton, garlic, chilli, shallot, basil and chives. They were really great. I served them on portobello mushrooms and with stilton sauce (stilton and cream melted together). I thought they looked so pretty, I took a photo.Grin

greengoose21 · 20/04/2017 19:57

I was watching a video last night of a guy testing three different low carb breads - Keto Bread, Soul Bread and Cloud Bread. He really hated the cloud bread - and I must admit, it didn't appeal at all.

Lidl Protein Rolls all the way for me - I was halfway through one this lunchtime when ASD posted about them. I will give up all of my other carbs happily - but I have realised that nothing beats them.

On the subject of LIDL - I have accidentally bought a mahoosive tub of Low Fat Greek Yoghurt. What do I do? Is it just the lack of fat that makes it a big no-no, in which case, I can mix it with the tub of Marscapone I bought at the same time. (Why have I never had marscapone before.....yum!).

CaptainBraandPants · 20/04/2017 20:01

Argh! Photo didn't post, I'll try again.
green you could mix double cream in with it. Higher fat and yummy.
