Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

If only Betsy! It all belongs to DS who would not be happy if I binned it although I don't think he'd be best pleased with me eating it either. It does however need to get put out of my sight.

Aderyn2016 · 10/01/2017 13:30

I bought strawberries yesterday and have nibbled a few to take the edge off the sugar cravings. I am not strong enough to go complete cold turkey on the carbs.
On the bright side, I have hidden the gin at the back of a cupboard and cut out all sugar from coffee and tea.

Breakfast (and lunch) was ham, a chunck of brie and 2 strawberries. Had a couple of creamy coffees. Am planning salmon and veggies for dinner. Not feeling as hungry today, which is good, cos I ate loads yesterday.

CaptainBraandPants · 10/01/2017 15:22

Just catching up with the thread. Seems to mostly be going well. Chester I know your name from previous BCs and I know you know enough not to let that blip derail you. Good luck. Flowers If it's any consolation, I think at one stage we were very similar weights, but I suspect I weight a lot little more than you now as I've had several carbtastic months where I couldn't get my arse into gear. Blush
However, it is going well here at the moment, I am very motivated. Think I need to drink more, but the eating is going well.
I'm out tonight at a work working dinner. we are going to an Indian restaurant, so curry without rice/ naan, I guess. Any suggestions?

MrsKoala · 10/01/2017 15:23

Hello Wombat. Nice to see some familiar names, hello to everyone from last boot camp and hello to people who weren't on the last one i was on.

Had roasted pork belly last night with swede and broccoli

B - Chicken and mayo
L - Courgette and spinach omelette
D - beef chilli with caulirice

Snacks will be cubes of cheese and ham and green olives.Haven't drank enough water at all so must try harder at that.

Exercise is hard for me as i had a c-section 11 weeks ago and am still not up for anything strenuous. Also getting out the house with 3 under 5 is a bit difficult. But will be strapping dd1 to my chest and power walking while the boys are at nursery when i can.

lisbapalea · 10/01/2017 15:36

Had a disaster on Saturday as was eating at relatives; houses and there was no LC options available, but I decided not to get too hung up on it, ate as modestly as I could without being rude and just moved on on Sunday.

I weighed in this morning and lost 3lb in my first week which is enough to keep motivated.

B - ff greek, berries and flax
L - M&S green salad with mozzarella and some cherry toms with a pack of mexican chicken with yogurt dip
D - Pork chops (lots of fat on the side of them) with home made coleslaw and broccoli

I am treating myself to some dark choc every day so I don't feel too deprived....

thenightsky · 10/01/2017 16:13

CaptainBraandPants Indian restaurants are easy! I go for Chicken shashleek, which is pretty much a plate of meat with no sauce, and a side dish of spinach with Paneer cheese. Fizzy water to drink.

lasttimeround · 10/01/2017 18:29

Really nice tepanyaki salmon today for lunch and ratatouille for dinner
Also did the quick callanetics dvd. So bonkers with all that 'precious peach' bla bla but my ass def hurts. Thanks for suggesting it

Waves to Captain Yes I've been round the BC block a few times now, some more successful than others Hmm

Back on it today despite falling and twisting my knee really badly and feeing v sorry for myself. Usually a perfect excuse for chocolate and wine but I resisted might have been a different story if I'd been able to make it the shop

Everyone's food sounds lovely. Mines been a bit all over the place today after my fall. Missed lunch then ate a pack of M&S bacon strips, M&S crackling straws and two babybels when I finally made it home from work. Lovely DH made tea but I know he won't have used much fat as he is a bit phobic, even the dollop of mayo he gave me was tiny but I didn't want to out him out by asking for more.

GuinefortGrey · 11/01/2017 09:39

I love reading what you are all having to eat daily, it really helps me stay in the zone as all the food and snacks sound so yummy and not diet-y at all.

Things here going well. Day 8 today and I'm feeling amazing. I can think (horrible brain fog I've suffered from for so long has lifted), I can move (joints and muscles all so much less painful) and I woke up this morning actually feeling awake and rested rather than still knackered!

Not sure how much is down to getting rid of carbs and how much is due to giving up alcohol. But wow! It's awesome Smile

Still feeling a bit snacky but not nearly so bad as a few days ago and actually not having much of an appetite at all so am able to satiate the snacky desires with a tiny cube of cheese, a couple of blueberries etc

Veryflummoxed · 11/01/2017 10:42

Hi all can I jump in and join you. I went BC light over Christmas, went quite well though too many nuts. Over the new year I came unstuck a bit. We had loads of family around so so much food around then suddenly visitors were gone but lots of carb treats left. On the whole I resisted the carbs but took to snacking on LC between meals and was finding this hard to stop. Anyway found this thread yesterday and am totally re inspired by you all (Lovely to see so many familiar names as well as to meet some new ones)

Breakfast was a three egg omelette with left over fried cabbage and cauliflower in. Tasted good honest. Now I'm off to down some water.

ChesterDrawers · 11/01/2017 12:46

Well my leg is well and truly fucked. On crutches and in a support from my ankle to the top of my thigh. So that's put paid to any excercise plans I may have had. Need to make some lunch too but can't move about very well yet. Beyond pissed off right now.

CaptainBraandPants · 11/01/2017 13:55

Thanks thenight I think that's similar to what we had. Various meat kebabs to start and then meat, meat and aubergines for main. One of my colleagues couldn't get past the fact I didn't have poppadoms, rice, naan and then the mint at the end! I think I blew his mind Grin
Very welcome
Chester blimey, that sounds terrible. Flowers You need your DH to supply you with lots of LC snacks. Trying to look for a silver lining, at least you won't be able to go and get other non-LC food easily. sorry, crap silver lining

thenightsky · 11/01/2017 15:08

Help me stay strong.... I'm at working and it's that mid afternoon lull, there's 3 boxes of chocs and a tin of m&s biscuits next to my desk... aaaargh.

MrsKoala · 11/01/2017 15:23

Try not to look at them Night. you can do it. go to the filing room and slap yourself in the face hard do jumping jacks.

I must confess to struggling more this time as i am buying and making carry food for 4 other people all day and having to throw so much away. Yesterday i had to run into the kitchen and frisbee quiche into the caddy without looking at it.

ChesterDrawers · 11/01/2017 16:01

Captain DH is away with work so there's only DS who's six to wait on me. And he's not great at That unless I want playdoh sausage rolls. Waaaaaah!! Thankfully I have a tesco delivery pass and plenty of food in so will make use of that.

Used a ketosticks this morning and got a positive so using that as my motivation not to attack the drawer full of festive goodies downstairs.

Well done for frisbee-ing the quiche MrsK

Keep strong Night, tell yourself just one tiny chocolate or biscuit will end up undoing all your hard work which would be a complete shame. You can do it!

Notso · 11/01/2017 16:02

Can I join you all? I've got loads to lose and I have realised LCHF is the only thing that seems to work for me. I began cutting down on carbs last week and started properly yesterday. Not eaten much today though as I had a migraine. Made a broccoli and Stilton soup for lunch but it was grim I don't think I cooked the broccoli long enough and added too much stock.

lasttimeround · 11/01/2017 16:25

The pork chop was glorious looking!!
What happened to your leg chester
To everyone resiiiiist the treats you know it's for the best.

I'm having a good few days. Firmly in ketosis now dhi ch is when it just gets so much easier for me.

Had checked with salsa and sour cream for lunch. Salsa isn't lc but just a teaspoon full as a condiment.
Dinner - smoked mackerel with lemon + salad

I discovered some leftover reindeer sausage from Christmas in the fridge and had that as a snack.

Welcome notso, good luck with LC, it's great once you get in the swing of things. Funnily enough, I made an awful batch of brocolli soup this week when mine is normally lovely.

Lasttime I twisted my knee falling over yesterday - totally sober too! Looks like may be ligament/tendon damage but too swollen to tell at the minute. Bloody agony though Sad

ariana1 · 11/01/2017 17:04

Hi - I restarted last week and I've already lost weight so I'm back to where I was pre-Christmas. I don't feel very well as I've also got a nasty cold and I'm look forward to getting back int the swing of low-carbing.

CaptainBraandPants · 11/01/2017 18:10

Welcome notso and ariana
I think quiche frisbee should be a new olympic event. We obviously have a gold medalist here. Grin
last have you been eating Rudolph? Shock At least he was low carb.

Good day here. Mushroom soup, hb eggs and ham for lunch, beef curry and cauli rice for dinner. Two creamy coffees as snacks. We have our IFA coming soon, so I may need a third creamy coffee to get me through the meeting.

Aderyn2016 · 11/01/2017 19:02

Am feeling a bit nauseous (sp?) and tired today. Don't know if it is the diet or because I've had a stressful day.

Food today was 2 cheese slices, 3 strawberries, 2 celery sticks with low carb pate, roast chicken in cloudbread roll with rocket and mayo and extra slice of cloudbread with butter, a couple of coffees with cream.

ChesterDrawers · 11/01/2017 21:51

Aderyn, from that I'd say you're not eating enough. To me that looks like a list of snacks with no actual meals. There's not a lot of fat going on either, which will leave you hungry. Also are you drinking enough water?

I'd go for three decent meals tomorrow with lots of fat, some protein and green veg, plus three litres of water and see if that helps.

ClopySow · 11/01/2017 22:35

I started on monday. I had the breath thing and headache yesterday and today. My energy levels have already improved and was down 4lb on the scales this morning. It seems to happen really quickly for me, but i plateau pretty quickly too. I get really shakey and feel faint when i eat white bread or pasta and just feel shattered the whole time. The weight loss is good, but it's feeling better that's important to me.

My skin is so much better too. It goes really dry when i'm eating lots of carbs. It feels lovely today.

lottieandmia · 12/01/2017 04:59

I felt horrible yesterday! Next week I will probably add berries in.
