Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

Well I'm definitely freezing today so maybe something is working. It doesn't help that is office is colder than a penguin's arse though!

data I wouldn't waste my money on ketosticks. The guru BIWI would tell you that if you are drinking enough water then you won't get a result from the sticks as it will be diluted.

Online chemists like chemist direct do them for less than a fiver. You don't reslly need them znd they don't work for everyone but I enjoy peeing on a stick every now and then. Reminds me of trying to conceive - back in my pre baby bod without belly sag.

Third day almost done for me and I haven't had any signs of carb flu yet, which I am slightly surprised at.
Had a lovely beef curry with cauli rice for dinner. Even better, there's enough for lunch tomorrow and another two portions for the freezer.
Well done everyone for getting back into the swing of it.

Amazon for ketostix. Although they aren't always accurate I do find them encouraging. In fact I might have a try in a minute!

Day 6,

B: Bullet proof coffee (30g fat)
L: 2 mackerel mixed with 15g butter and bit lemon juice, eaten with 3 celery sticks
S: cheese chunks
D: Double cream 100g whipped

Feel OK, slightly peckish and need to up my water. Good luck everybody. We all know it's worth the effort.

Another day down. Bit steadier today. I need to meal plan properly as am envious of those having proper meals. I'm just chowing down on hunks of meat with fat it feels like.
Those of you with headaches - drink more water. You need loads. Also salt if your muscles ache. Drinking bouillon really helps. I sometimes take magnesium citrate too but again just a frill. I'm going to poas tomorrow morning Smile cos I think I'll be in ketosis.

Right shit night so gym cancelled but I will develop meal plan. Today

B - scrambled eggs
L - courgette and feta
D - pork belly
S - Greek yoghurt or pork scratchings

Woke up with terrible, terrible breath this morning. No kissing from me. I think that means I'm in ketosis. Grin
Beef curry for lunch and salmon with roasted veg for dinner.
Still no sign of the dreaded carb flu...

Hi all, also jumping on if you don't mind!
Lost 4 stone with LC after my last child so obviously works. I have put a stone of it back on since the summer. Mainly due to stress and the joys of working full time with a 1 and 2 year old and looking to food for comfort so hoping to get my arse into gear and actually get it gone. Have tried a few times and completely
Lacked any motivation so need to be focused this time.

Started on Monday- don't think I'm in kerosis yet but do feel very lethargic and tired. Waiting for the flu and headaches!

Today-
B- scrambled egg
L- cheese chunks
D- will be meat of some desc and veg.

Must. Drink. More. Water!

Welcome all. I'm in ketosis today \hurrah/ although I feel a bit headachy.
For those struggling to get into ketosis I find hard boiled eggs on standby are helpful to stop you falling off the wagon. But I have a scoff like crazy way of getting into ketosis that is a bit nuts. I think its a bit like stopping smoking in that I actually do more eating/smoking in the run up. Make over that what you will. I'm not yet at the "I don't even notice carbs they're so irrelevant to me" stage but I'm out of the anxious scoffing stage. Onwards and upwards Smile

If you drink loads of water you'll find you don't get bad breath and actually drinking a lot of water is essential for the success of it.

Is it true that drinking enough water stops the bad breath? I thought it might take the edge off it - but nothing more. And it is a side effect I really hate…. [looking for excuses? GAH!]

I've done a lot of low carbing including stage 1 Atkins - never ever had bad breath. I drink 2 litres of water every day. You must do this in order to lose weight anyway.

Does anyone have a recommendation for how to make a nice coffee? Coffee with cream makes me feel sick. Is there anything else I can put in it? Likewise I use mayonnaise with a hint of mustard.

I'll start again too Blush I'm still carrying the same stone that I have been for months and it's doing my head in. Had a bit of a slip up with leftover xmas cake today (I bake one every year but next year I'm not bothering) but my Fitbit tells me I've walked 11k steps today and I'm off out with running club shortly so hopefully that'll help.

One thing I struggle with is not having milk in hot drinks. It's not so hard in the summer when it's already light and warm when you wake up but these cold dark mornings are crap and I need a coffee! I can't do cream as it makes me feel sick and I hate herb/fruit teas. I've limited it to two hot drinks with milk a day but wondering if that's still not very good. (I've also tried soya milk, not good).

L- spinach and watercress salad with prawns (had olive oil but prob should've added mayo but god I'm getting sick of that too)
Balls up - small piece of xmas cake
D - not decided yet and not hungry at the mo, prob something small.

I'm going to chuck a fast day or two into the mix and see if that helps get things going. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Yes, I like the fact the bloating goes.

Two beef burgers with avocado, garlic mayo and tomatoes for lunch, no brekkie and I've had had roast chicken, skin on and some green salad for dinner.

Did the gym today too, I don't get flu like symptoms, I do get tired about day four though as my body adjusts then I bounce out of it. I'm a bit of an old hand at low carbing.

I do get bad breath but only on days I don't eat enough. I still have black coffees when low carbing and also Coca Cola Zero.

I've been low carbing since August, three days off at Xmas, 23/24/25 Dec , then went back on it on 26th Dec and then 31/1/2 January off again, now back on it as of yesterday. I will stay on it now till I need to don a bikini and go on hol in early Feb.

To be honest I only need to lose about half a stone inc Xmas weight, as already lost a good two or so, but basically this is a way of life for me, as if I eat carbs and sugar, I find it difficult to stop.
