Starting today - low carb

Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

Feel like I am always buying cauliflower (for mash) and eggs.

MiniCooperLover · 01/02/2017 10:09

Going to try celeriac mash tonight hopefully

BIWI · 01/02/2017 12:18

Celeriac mash is even lovelier with leeks - just as your celeriac is almost soft, add some chopped leeks to the boiling water, and when they're all cooked, blend/mash them with lots of butter.

ASDismynormality · 01/02/2017 15:46

I discovered celeriac thanks to this thread, it's a great substitute for when you I need something comforting.

Kronutpearl · 01/02/2017 15:58

I don't like celeriac :(

Veryflummoxed · 01/02/2017 17:20

I've had celeriac mash for dinner tonight, and definitely going to try your version with leeks BIWI sound good.

Breakfast coffee with cream.

Lunch cheese and olives

Dinner plaice and prawns with parsley butter. samphire and celeriac mash.

Water good so far and I've got another litre sat beside me.

NotdeadyetBOING · 01/02/2017 17:47

I keep roasting cubes of celeriac. Must try it mashed next time…...

Aderyn2016 · 01/02/2017 19:36

Been really hungry today and craving sugar.
B - small pice flax bread and butter with 2 boiled eggs
L - handful almonds, small slice flax bread, 3 slices salami, 3 olives, 2 pickled onions and some 85% choc
Snack - 1 sausage (a decent one from the butchers though, so proper meat not cereal)
D - shepherds pie with a little butternut squash and lots of green beans and leeks and green pepper. It did have a bit of carrot in it though.

Have ditched the cream and had no cheese. Also deliberately didn't buy any more dark choc now mine has run out, or raspberries. Determined to break this craving and dependence on sweet stuff.

Hopefully today's food has been okay.

RupertsMum2 · 01/02/2017 21:43

I've definitely over eaten today. At least it was all low carbish.

B. FF yogurt with 10 blueberries and 3 strawberries. Coffee with cream.
L. 2 slices flax bread with almond butter, slice naice ham, slice cheese, cucumber sticks and 3 cherry tomatoes.
D. Bacon, egg, mushrooms and tea with soya milk. 3 tsp co-yo.

My oven conked out half way through cooking the chicken thighs I should have had for lunch. They have now been finished off in the slow cooker so that's tomorrow nights dinner. Worse ds3 ate my co-yo. I have told him the cornetto's are his the co-yo is mine.

A quite amazing side effect...

I have PCOS and it makes my cycle wonky. 23 days to be exact.

I started lc on 9th of january and this month my cycle was bang on 28 days. It happened last time i did lc too.

I'd forgotten about that benefit.

ClopySow · 02/02/2017 09:06

Unfortunately, the pms made me a sugar craving beast...

Kronutpearl · 02/02/2017 09:08

rupert that doesn't sound like loads to me at all.

What is over eating on this diet?

NotdeadyetBOING · 02/02/2017 09:57

I agree with Kronutpearl - about Rupert. Sounds pretty restrained to me….

Veryflummoxed · 02/02/2017 11:56

I agree, didn't sound like overeating to me.

RupertsMum2 · 02/02/2017 14:12

Gosh, I'm glad you don't think I had too much because I just had exactly the same breakfast and lunch as yesterday Grin I just sometimes think I carry on eating when I've really had enough and should stop. I don't snack at all, never have done, which is something I suppose.

GuinefortGrey · 02/02/2017 18:00

It's my 1 month low-carbiversary in 2 days!!! I haven't cheated at all (until today... I'll get to that in a minute...) and I am losing weight slowly but surely. I am aware I have been grazing too much (I'll eat half an avocado and a bit of cheese or chicken or some olives and then not be hungry enough for a proper meal). My eating has always been somewhat disordered so this is nothing new but at least I have kept it all high fat/low carb.

Today has been a toughy. I did something today that I found very emotionally difficult and normally would have sent me straight into carb binge mode. I feel very drained and craving comfort in my food. I've had a very large bowl of natural Greek yoghurt with some blueberries and added gasp a large spoonful of local organic honey. It's honestly the first "cheat" I've had, but I just needed it. Feel rather bloated now but it did the trick of sorting out my sweet cravings. Could have been worse, much worse Grin

RupertsMum2 · 02/02/2017 19:48

Happy low-carbiversary GuinefortGrey I hope you have a lovely day. I agree it could have been so much worse.

I was cooking chicken thighs for lunch yesterday when my oven packed in so I finished them off in the slow cooker. Unfortunately I didn't know how long they had already been cooked for and I might have slightly over done them. Ds3, 10, was so disgusted with his dinner that he sent a picture to his cousin. I've hidden the childline number just in case. He has now persuaded ds1, 21, to phone out for pizza.

Ds's picture (I had the same without the micro chips and it was ok)

Starting today - low carb
Veryflummoxed · 03/02/2017 06:59

Yesterday started well with
Lunch. Leftover fish and veg
Dinner pork and mushroom in a cram sauce, runner beans.
But
I didn't have enough water and got hungry so ate pork scratchings and cheese late evening.

Today started for me three hours ago and I'm now hungry again.

BIWI · 03/02/2017 08:53

Eating breakfast might help!

NotdeadyetBOING · 03/02/2017 09:49

Morning all.

So - I had a f*ck it moment last night and ate very large bowl of spaghetti bolognaise with the children last night. I think I was fed up with lack of weight loss despite following WOE pretty closely and that coupled with irritating behaviour from DCs tipped me over…

Like GuinefortG, it could have been far worse (was fantasising about chocolate) so am not beating myself up about it and just getting back on track…..

Kronutpearl · 03/02/2017 14:23

B today ff Greek yoghurt with raspberries and a tiny bit of honey

Had a bit of cheese when toddler had his lunch

L salmon, green beans, cherry toms

D leftover chilli (no kidney beans no rice), guacamole

wombattoo · 03/02/2017 16:16

Guine You have done very well with this woe and I think you coped well with your emotional day. Pat on the back for you Thanks

Aderyn2016 · 03/02/2017 17:01

Okay, so not managed to stay off the dark choc - ate 3 squares today and 3 yesterday. I am really missing milk choc so ate the thing which was less harmful.

Other food is generally okay, I think. My flax bread tasted funny this morning so think it may have gone off. I guess it has no preservatives in it, so isn't going to last like normal bread. Ended up having a slice of cheese for bf! Lunch was 2 slices ham, celery stick with nut butter and olives/pickled onions. Dinner will be lamb casserole. Nicked one of the kid's leftover frankfurters though, for a snack.

Trying to keep busy so I dont think about food!

momofgirls · 03/02/2017 20:12

Tried new recipe broccoli with lemon, olive oil & garlic. I'll post the link in recipes.
Made in less than ten minutes.
Used some leftover chicken cooked in oven coated in pesto Rosso delicious. Missed dinner today so was ready.

Anyone noticing the reducing number of available veg. I've some leeks left for tomorrow and some baby bell peppers.

Not long to the bootcamp

DearPrudence · 03/02/2017 22:37

Had my planned drinking night last night. Went ok. Lots of wine but stayed off food carbs. Getting back into proper eating today has been a bit of a struggle and I've had some dark chocolate and nuts, both of which I usually avoid completely.

Looking forward to the rigid structure of bootcamp.
