Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

If I recall correctly Bibble the tiredness and flu-like feelings generally pass after about five days. It's called carb flu.

ASDismynormality · 27/01/2017 12:12

I'm low carbing but feel a bit confused after looking at the boot camp spreadsheet. I thought leeks have 14g carbs per 100g but the spreadsheet shows 3G as do some other internet sources. Am I counting my carbs wrongly?

Bibblewanda · 27/01/2017 12:41

Well technically I'm on about day 14 but I certainly lapsed a lot last week so we'll call it day 3...

nekobus · 27/01/2017 12:59

ASD it's probably because of the different ways that carbs are counted in US vs UK - if you are using an app like my fitness pal or googling, you might be getting the US version which shows gross carbs before fibre is removed. In U.K. we measure net carbs but they are just labelled as carbs.

For MFP I either put in 'leeks net carbs' in the search, or search leeks and choose a British brand like Sainsbury's. See pics

Well yesterday was not my finest LC moment. I skipped breakfast because I wasn't feeling hungry then got caught up in some stuff at work. By the time I stopped it was 3pm, I was ravenous, shaky and freezing cold. So of course, I mainlined a boatload of chocolate and sweets in about 30 seconds, undoing all my good work. I then went a bit 'fuck it' for the rest of the day, although thankfully I couldn't get to the shop so had to make do with what we had in, which was not much. I have had a word with myself and got back on track with a massive LC brunch and have a good tea planned.

B/L: three rashers of bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs with butter, cream and cheese
D: sea bass, celeriac dauphinoise, roast asparagus

BIWI · 27/01/2017 14:39

UK carb count for leeks here

Confirmed by Sainsbury's website:

Typical Values (as sold) Per 100g
Carbohydrate 2.8g

DearPrudence · 27/01/2017 14:41

Well done for getting back on track, Chester

I couldn't finish my (not huge) brunch today, and I am pissing like a horse, so I'm hoping I might be about to leave this plateau and start losing again.

ASDismynormality · 27/01/2017 14:52

Thanks so much, am probably eating far less carbs than I think I am then!

Bibblewanda · 27/01/2017 14:53

Ugh I cannot give up the chocolate - why!!!!!!!

BabsUnited · 27/01/2017 14:54

Today has been good so far:

B: Two hardboiled eggs with a slice of edam, tea. Large black Americano
L: Soup with chargrilled chicken, beansprouts, edamame beans, and a crab mayo and edamame pot thing. Small handful of cashews.

Two pints of water so far.

RupertsMum2 · 27/01/2017 15:27

Day 12. Still getting the morning headache but it's definitely lessening (I couldn't actually remember if I'd taken paracetamol or not) and it didn't take me quite as long to get going this morning. I'm finding that late afternoon and evening I feel very energetic which is quite unusual for me. In fact I would say I feel better These last few days than I've felt for 4+ years since my fibromyalgia started.

B. FF yogurt, coffee with cream
L. Chicken thigh, green salad, small square of pate, mayonnaise
D. Prawn stir fry, unless Ds doesn't want the left over curry in which case it will be curry and courgetti

Veryflummoxed · 27/01/2017 15:35

I'm going to post my food in
advance in the hope that it keeps me on track

Brunch. 3 eggs fried in butter.
Dinner. Belly pork slices roasted in garlic. Tons of salad leaves with olive oil and vinegar. I've lost track of my water but I think I'm over half way there.

BetsyM00 · 27/01/2017 17:29

Having chicken carbonara with courgetti for tea tonight. Just discovered Lidl have jars of carbonara sauce that are only 2.9g carbs/100g.

thenightsky · 27/01/2017 17:35

Not a single bloody courgette to be had in this neck of the woods today... Morrisons, Tesco and even my local farm shop... nothing. Only one sad looking aubergine to be had too.

NameChanger22 · 27/01/2017 19:11

There are no courgettes where I live either. I tried to buy some yesterday, but there were none in Asda or Aldi.

Today I ate :
Breakfast - Omelette with fried tomatoes and sliced veggi sausage
Lunch - Broccoli, cauliflower and cheddar soup
Dinner - Veggi lasagne, made with aubergine instead of pasta, soya mince, loads of veg and sauce made from double cream and cheese.

I've been low carbing since 1 January. I've lost 3 inches from my boobs, 2.5 inches off my waist, 1 inch off bum and an inch off each thigh. It's not too bad. I'm not weighing myself, but I feel a bit slimmer. I do about an hour or two of exercise every day, I have done for years, I'm not planning on increasing that.

Lucysdiamonds · 27/01/2017 19:17

I'm proud of myself today Smile - went out with dd shopping and stayed away from carbs!

Today I had bacon and eggs for breakfast with decaff coffee with a dash of cream, for lunch a crayfish and avocado salad from Pret with decaff espresso macchiato plus another decaff macchiato. Dinner will be sausages.

Flibbertyjibbit · 27/01/2017 20:48

My day was going well till I accidentally consumed whole bag of pork scratchings while writing a report for work. I'm hoping the fact my rather big snack was low in carb might be OK but that is a lot of calories!

Brunch - scrambled egg & coffee with cream
Dinner- lamb stew with celeriac mash

Back to being good tomorrow.

BIWI · 27/01/2017 22:18

You don't need to worry about the calories, Flibberty! There isn't a problem with that at all.

wombattoo · 27/01/2017 23:11

Just checking in. I am having problems with my laptop so can't check in every day. Thank goodness BIWI is back Grin

NotdeadyetBOING · 28/01/2017 10:20

Agree - thank goodness BIWI is back to keep us on the straight and narrow. I had slight slip last night possibly involving white bread but feel strangely ok and not derailed.

Determined to get self in decent shape for this yoga retreat thing. Wondering what can realistically be achieved in 7 weeks…..

Bibblewanda · 28/01/2017 10:37

Had a whey protein shake for breakfast with soya milk and a slosh of double cream as recommended in the IPD. Can't say I loved it but it wasn't too vile and makes a good quick breakfast. Is it ok? It's a low carb one - 1.2g per serving.

Bibblewanda · 28/01/2017 10:38

And I weighed myself this AM and I'm 4lbs down on last week even with daily chocolate and milk lapses!

RupertsMum2 · 28/01/2017 11:30

Is soya milk ok? I'm really missing my many cups of tea. I don't like it black, with cream or almond milk however I tried a cup with soya milk last night and it was fine but I'm sure I read somewhere that soya products were discouraged, perhaps Briffa?

Aderyn2016 · 28/01/2017 11:39

Yesterday was weird, food wise. Unexpectedly out all day so food in total was 2 babybel, handful of mixed nuts, 3 squares of 90% dark choc and one burger with cheese, grilled mushrooms and tomato.
Today's bf was 2 slices bacon, 2 hardboiled eggs with mayo and grilled tomato and mushroom.
Still drinking lots of mint tea.
Bought Vogue, so the skinny models can keep me on the straight and narrow Grin

Bibblewanda · 28/01/2017 11:41

Oh really? I thought soya milk was fine as long as unsweetened - the label on mine says no carbs!

I hate almond milk too
