Starting today - low carb

Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

1.5lbs off this week, compared to my first week is disappointing but if I add the two figures together I guess 12.5lbs in 2 weeks is great.

Haven't drunk as much water as I've been out & about, will try to improve on that this week.

1 week till boot camp starts!

NotdeadyetBOING · 30/01/2017 10:43

I will admit to feeling DISHEARTENED. Have lost no sodding weight for 2 weeks now.

I have had the odd cheat, but even so my average daily carb intake has been 65g and calorie intake 1650. I know for ketosis I probably need to be going lower, but even if it was a bog standard diet where one counts calories you'd have thought I'd have lost.

Massive hurrumph…...

DearPrudence · 30/01/2017 13:56

Well done Flibberty - that's a really good loss.

Notdead how's your water intake been? I find that I can stick perfectly to the food side of things but if I don't have enough water my weight loss slows right down. To be honest, it's the only thing about this WOE that I really find difficult.

I've weighed in with a 3lb loss this week, which I'm pleased with. Hoping for another 2 before bootcamp starts, but I also have a meal out and am planning to have some alcohol on Thursday.

Aderyn2016 · 30/01/2017 14:33

So, bf today was 2 hardboiled eggs with mayo, fried mushrooms and tomato.
L - small bowl of raspberries and cream, 2 slices of ham with a few pickled onions and olives.
Dinner will be roast chicken with green beens and celeriac chips.

Restarted my callenetics today. Sooo hard.

NotdeadyetBOING · 30/01/2017 16:05

Hmm - Dear Prudence maybe you are right about needing to up the water. I think it has been v. good the last couple of days ,but maybe not great during the week before that. Will give it a go and see if I see a change…..

BIWI · 30/01/2017 18:23

Also, the odd cheat WILL make a difference! And it could also be that 65g carbs per day is too high for weight loss.

Why don't you list out for me why you've been eating/drinking over the last couple of days, and let me see if there's anything I can help with?

RupertsMum2 · 30/01/2017 19:51

B. FF yogurt and coffee with cream
L. 2 slices flax bread with almond butter, cucumber sticks
S. babybel and tea with splash of soya milk
D. Chicken wrapped in bacon, grated cheese, courgetti in butter

That's my first snack in two weeks and I don't suppose I really needed it but was supervising lunch hour at ds3's school and just needed a little something to recover. I could never be a teacher!

Veryflummoxed · 30/01/2017 21:52

Breakfast. Sausage and veg (left overs)
Lunch chicken wings and veg (left overs)
Dinner toast pork and roasted cauliflower and broccoli.

Did good but got snackish later on and had snacks of chicken and pork. Water, lost count a bit but think I did ok.

Aderyn2016 · 30/01/2017 22:29

I feel like I have eaten loafs of food today. Struggling to get my head around how I can possibly lose weight eating cream and greasy chicken wings (not together, I hasten to add).
Need to eat a bit less tomorrow and syay away from the red wine!

NotdeadyetBOING · 31/01/2017 10:06

Many thanks, BIWI, you are a total star. OK - here goes:

Saturday:
B: Coffee with d cream. 2 eggs fried in butter
L: Pork belly with crackling. Some roasted veg in olive oil (not carby ones)
D: Salmon cooked in butter with buttery spinach. Plus 4 slices of mozzarella.

Sunday:
B: Coffee and cream. 2 eggs fried in butter
L: Chicken breast w. skin. Roasted veg again. Tbsp mayo (delouis)
S: Grilled haloumi salad (some balsamic in the dressing as DH made it). Also had some pomegranate seeds ,but didn't eat them all.
Snack: 2 slices Edam.

Monday:
B: Coffee w. cream. 2 v. thin slices low-carb bread (Carbzone) w. scraping sugar free whole earth peanut butter.
L: Salmon fillet and steamed kale, both with melted butter. Handful of olives in olive oil.
D: 2 fried eggs in butter with 30g pancetta cubes.
Snack: 2 mini baby-bel and 3 slices edam
Did LOTS of exercise too….

I suspect you'll say cut out dairy (ducks under table)….

BIWI · 31/01/2017 10:52

That was going to be my very first thing Grin

To be honest, I'd also cut out the low carb bread and the peanut butter - I think they'll be adding more carbs than you think.

You're a bit of a victim of carb-creep I think - nothing massively high in carbs on their own, but they all add up. So cut out the pomegranate seeds too - and you say the roasted veg aren't high in carbs, but I notice you didn't confess tell me what they are!

Aderyn2016 · 31/01/2017 10:59

Have decided to go back to being stricter too. Think I have been slacking a bit by having some alcohol and too much dairy.
So today have had small slice of flax bread and butter with pink salmon mixed with spring onions and a little vinegar. Will stay away from the cream and cheese and raspberries and wine.

Am very achey from callenetics yesterday but will have another go this afternoon.

LovelyBath77 · 31/01/2017 11:30

I'm trying to think of it as a long term way of eating now, not a diet, keep going through phases, this week it is an omelette phase. Have lost half a stone since Christmas and BMI is 27 so not far to go to 25.

NotdeadyetBOING · 31/01/2017 11:37

Ha ha…. Right, BIWI. Agree on the low-carb bread & PB. I guess I just thought it would be ok if I was begin really active. Maybe not…

The roasted veg are ok, I think. Courgette, celeriac, fennel etc. But I think my portion sizes are pretty massive which is probably not helping.

Kronutpearl · 31/01/2017 12:22

Today a bit of a write off I fear. Had some most of my toddler's cheese on toast Blush

RupertsMum2 · 31/01/2017 14:22

B. FF yogurt, co-yo, (bit of each!) coffee with cream
L. 2 slices of flax bread, almond butter, cucumber sticks, baby bel
D. Pork steak, courgetti cooked in butter, mushrooms in butter
Two cups of tea with Soya milk.

Looking forward to bootcamp starting.

MiniCooperLover · 31/01/2017 17:11

There is a cauliflower cheese made with double cream, cauliflower, bacon lardons and cheese on top cooking to go with some salmon fillet pan fried tonight, yum ...

BIWI · 31/01/2017 17:24

What time shall I pop over?
Grin

Kronutpearl · 31/01/2017 17:26

Does anyone find in the absence of fruit they're not getting enough veg?

BIWI · 31/01/2017 17:27

What do you consider 'enough'?!

Kronutpearl · 31/01/2017 17:34

Well, 5 a day. And I usually aim for 7!

MiniCooperLover · 31/01/2017 17:44

I am actually eating more veg than I used to because I was a bit lax about veg but now I'm using it to get my carbs.

wombattoo · 31/01/2017 18:35

Room for one more for tea Mini? Grin

BIWI · 31/01/2017 18:38

Firstly, the whole 'five a day' is a marketing campaign. There's no reason for it being five. In some countries it's seven, in others ten. So it's an arbitrary number.

As long as your carbs are coming mainly from veg and salad, you'll be on the right track.

RupertsMum2 · 31/01/2017 21:19

I have a jacket that I really like but rarely wear as it's a bit tight. Well it's not now!
Also this is day 16 and I still haven't had any alcohol. The last time I went that long was probably when I was feeding ds3 who's now 10.
