Starting today - low carb

Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

I really like the flax bread, don't find it cakey at all and mine seems to develop a nice crunch when toasted. It does the job for me as a delivery recepticle for boatloads of lovely butter anyway Grin.

Feel like I am really in the swing of things now, finding LC pretty straightforward after 18 straight days on track - pretty sure that's a record for me. Still keeping off the scales though, even less tempted thanks to AF and giant swollen knee which must weigh at least a stone!

Today...
B: flax bread, butter, marmite
L: fauxtato skins, avocado
D: HM burgers, bacon, cheese, swede chips, salad, olive oil

NotdeadyetBOING · 23/01/2017 09:48

Morning all. I had really stressful long drive in the fog last night and ended up buying carby crap from a petrol station where I stopped for a break en route. So ruined what was, until then, a good day. Hey ho - back on it this morning.

Bibblewanda · 23/01/2017 09:52

Fell off the wagon in a ridiculous way last night Blush

We won't talk about it.

Breakfast today was salami roll ups with cream cheese and hard boiled egg with chilli sauce plus tea with almond milk

RupertsMum2 · 23/01/2017 10:29

Day 7, woke up with a stonking headache. I had paracetamol and a bottle of water before I got up so decided not to weigh today and use yesterday's 7lb loss for the week. I'm really pleased with that as I don't normally lose much at a time. I hope all those weighing today are as happy.

B. FF Greek yogurt and coffee with cream
L. Tuna mayo, green salad with mayo, half avocado
D. Low carb sausage, egg, mushrooms & spinach cooked in butter
Probably a coffee with cream to revive me when Ds comes home from school.

I still haven't even looked at the pig to twig recipe book. Perhaps this afternoon!

thenightsky · 23/01/2017 12:03

well, after the initial excitement of losing 7lb in 2 weeks, I got on the scales this morning to find I'd put 5lb back on Sad

Has anyone had success with low carbing alongside 5:2?

RupertsMum2 · 23/01/2017 12:22

Is this your week 3? I'm no expert but I think that you can stall or gain in week 3 & 4. I lost 1 stone on the bootcamp before last and my weight went up and down, for no apparent reason, over the 10 weeks. I had decided to do it without weighing this time but I can't stop myself! I also think with this way of eating what seems like a small "cheat" can be a disaster. I gave up on the last bootcamp because I just couldn't get it together and kept drinking wine cheating whereas when I lost the weight I followed it exactly.

thenightsky · 23/01/2017 13:17

Yes... this is my week 3.

I need to get a grip and carry on and not be defeated.

Inside though, its hard to think fuck it I'll eat a pizza.

lasttimeround · 23/01/2017 13:42

I think weeks 3 snd 4 are known for stalls and regains but there's really good losses often in weeks 5 and 6.
KOKO everyone. My calculated ease off is going well. I'm having slightly more carby veg and the odd potato and my stomach feels happier. I was feeling queasy before. Not boot camp but feels ok

Can you really not cheat at all on LCHF? I might not be able to do it in that case as I need a lifestyle change and I just can't commit to never ever eating lentils, pasta or bread again.

Or is it a case of once you've lost the weight you can have the odd carby thing and not have it matter too much??

lasttimeround · 23/01/2017 13:45

I think you need to plan and make low carb treats to help with the fuck it moments. I usually have fat bombs on hand for chocolate cravings and I'm curious about fathead pizzas..

Bibble - I re introduce carbs slooowly. And try to stay a bit lower carb than a conventional diet. I was maintaining like that at just a couple of pounds above the weight I dieted down to before Xmas happened.. My body seems to retain something when I drop carbs and that comes back when I eat more. I think its water or glycogen.

But yes as long as I don't go on an all out toast binge I can flower reintroduce carbs snd be fine. I seem to have something up with me tho. If I eat lots of carbs I can't stop eating. I csn eat more or less all the time past the point of pain and I just want more.

That's good to hear last and yes I was more thinking of carbs once a week really.

Anyway shall KOKO. Not had lunch yet but not really fancied anything.

Flibbertyjibbit · 23/01/2017 14:49

Week 1 = 11lbs loss, I swapped the carby cappucino for black tea. Shall take my own cream with me next time I go out for coffee.

B- scrambled egg and coffee with cream
L- cheese salad
D - chicken and roast veg

BIWI · 23/01/2017 14:56

Wow! That's brilliant!

Aderyn2016 · 23/01/2017 15:00

I'm dying to weigh myself but daren't. Previously, when I've tried to lose weight, as soon as I stall I give up. So best not to know, I think.

Today have had a small bowl of raspberries and ff greek yoghurt for breakfast. Also 1 slice of rosemaey ham.

Lunch was prawn curry, with half a carrot, half a pepper, half a leek and a lot of spinach.

Bibblewanda · 23/01/2017 15:07

flibberty that's amazing!! Well done

Lunch was avocado feta and tomato salad for me.

Flibbertyjibbit · 23/01/2017 16:01

Thanks all, I have a lot to lose 10 stone so it's a good start. Hoping I can stick out being really strict till end of boot camp. Is boot camp lite for maintainance only? Or do people continue to lose weight?

I'm missing fruit and tempted to have raspberries with Greek yoghurt but I shall continue to abstain from fruit until end of boot camp.

Bibblewanda · 23/01/2017 16:03

Boot camp hasn't yet started has it? Is there a list of rules somewhere I could look at?

lasttimeround · 23/01/2017 16:30

The proper boot camp threads have a link to a spreadsheet which includes on one tab the boot camp rules.

I'm not sure if the linky works

NotdeadyetBOING · 23/01/2017 16:53

11 lbs in a week????!!!! I am clearly doing something veeeeery wrong.
Mega congratulations to Flibberty.

RupertsMum2 · 23/01/2017 17:05

Gosh! Well done Flibberty. 11lbs is fantastic.

Flibbertyjibbit · 23/01/2017 17:36

Thank you, thank you Halo I found the bootcamp rules on the link Last shared. They are on a tab if you scroll along bottom. I've been logging everything I eat & drink the last week on my fitness pal. Averaged about 1000 calories a day (not worried about calories more being mindful of what I am consuming) and not feeling starved/hard done by. I also drank about 3.5 litres water a day so I wonder if my mega loss is more water weight to begin with. I was 19st 10lbs now in 18st bracket just at the beginning of last week so I think you lose more at the start if you are bigger to begin with?

DearPrudence · 23/01/2017 19:18

Brilliant loss Flibberty Smile

I've been away from the thread a while, and struggling to really get into the swing, after losing really well before Christmas. And then at the weekend.... well, a big fuck-off veil needs to be drawn over the weekend.

Today is weigh in for me, and I only lost a pound last week. Have kicked myself up the arse, drunk loads of water and eaten well. Feels good to be back on track and back on the thread.

B - coffee with cream
L - turkey, avocado, lettuce, mayo
D - salmon fillets, shallot/chilli/ginger fried up with sprouts
S - one babybel
