Starting today - low carb

Right it's time to get back in the low carb saddle. I basically follow boot camp rules. That works very well for me. I find getting into ketosis hard so making my public declaration of intent here. Planning to weigh and measure shortly.

So I'm starting today. Whingeing about carb flu all the way. Join me

Skin!

CaptainBraandPants · 15/01/2017 10:18

Chester, Name is veggie. So, she can have the ground almonds on proper BC, can't see? It's just us meat eaters that have to limit it to BC lite.

ChesterDrawers · 15/01/2017 11:15

Oh yes, of course! Fill yer boots then, Name!

That potato skin recipe looks really good. It's now on my list.

ClopySow · 15/01/2017 13:09

Can somebody point me in the direction of the recipe thread please. I need some inspiration

Still here! Feeling slightly demoralised by slow weight loss on the scales (I know, I know!). I'm down around 4lbs in 10 days which is "ok", HOWEVER I took a progress photo today and there is now a definite change between my first photo 7 days ago and today. Waist and hips looking undeniably slimmer and less lumpy-bumpy! So that has given me a good boost Smile

Ate out yesterday at Nando's, had butterfly chicken, salad with avocado and a bowl of olives, with water to drink. I was absolutely stuffed, my appetite has definitely shrunk considerably, but still I ate every last morsel. Need to work on my self control, stopping eating when full. It's so hard, when you've been conditioned since childhood to finish your plate every time.

I'm going to pick up on the advice here and try and cut back on dairy this coming week and see if that speeds up the loss on the scales. Also going to look at my protein portions and make sure I'm not overdoing it. Although I have to keep reminding myself that even if I only lose 1lb a week - that will still make a total of 20lbs in 18 weeks time!

CaptainBraandPants · 15/01/2017 13:13

Clopy if you click on low carb bootcamp up there ^ where it says topic, then the recipe thread is stacked, so is the first thread.
Dietdoctor and Ibreatheimhungry are also good places for inspiration.

CaptainBraandPants · 15/01/2017 13:13

stacked = stickied

CaptainBraandPants · 15/01/2017 13:17

Sorry Guine cross post. 4lbs and a definite change in bumpiness are good things. Don't get discouraged Flowers. After the initial water loss, we are likely to only be losing 1-2lb per week. That's a good, healthy loss.
Saying that, if someone offered me a two stone loss overnight, I'd take it. Grin

NameChanger22 · 15/01/2017 13:23

I wouldn't worry about weight loss being slow. I lose weight really slowly on all diets. I decided that I wasn't going to weight myself, just measure myself once a month, and even if I only lose an inch each month, then it's progress.

Mainly i want to feel healthier and stop eating junk food, low carbing is the best diet for that and I would prefer to lose weight slowly and keep the diet and healthy eating going long-term.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 15/01/2017 13:31

I need to get back to low carb pronto - had about a month of more relaxed eating with Christmas and birthdays and now look about 3 months pregnant. As usual, all the weight has gone round my middle and trousers are feeling tighter again. It's confirmed for me that I am very carb intolerant and need to save bread etc as a very occasional treat.

I'm out for a special birthday meal tomorrow but after that there will be a purge of all the Christmas 'treats' from the house.

DearPrudence · 15/01/2017 13:44

Welcome Boldly and Name

I ate low carb but too much last night. DH's chicken bhuna was too nice.

Today I wasn't really hungry but have just had a bowl of leftover chilli which was delicious. Planning some kind of creamy chicken and chorizo thing with a load of veg tonight.

Off to sort out 14 yo DS's room with him in a minute. Wish me luck.

wombattoo · 15/01/2017 14:11

Hi everyone. I haven't checked in for a while as I haven't been doing very well. I am ready to start again.
There are some good weight losses on thread.

Aderyn2016 · 15/01/2017 16:21

Hi all,
Made the flax bread today. Thank you for that recipe Chester, it was gorgeous. Mine came in at about 12g carb per loaf, so will try and reduce that a bit for next time. Am staying away from the cream today. Breakfast was flax bread with butter and marmite and lunch was flax bread with half an avocado mashed with lemon, salt and a little cayenne pepper.
Dinner with be roasted veggies and probably chicken.
Am quite pleased with how I am coping on this woe, having gone from heavy carb, very sugary food to cutting all that out. I think it helped to have a week of breaking myself in slowly, so still eating fruit and having a g & slimline t. Feel like I am properly into it now.

BIWI · 15/01/2017 16:24

Afternoon all!

Some really good results here.

Just to let you know that I'll definitely be starting the next Bootcamp on 6 February.

nekobus · 15/01/2017 16:32

Hello all! Still here, keeping on!

Hello BIWI that's great thank you - looking forward to it :) you and your big stick are definitely required!!

I don't think I've lost this week as I had one spectacular day off last Sunday and I reckon that has undone all my hard work Blush

CaptainBraandPants · 15/01/2017 17:11

BIWI yay!
Prudence shall we send a search party if you don't appear soon? I refuse to enter my DS15's room any longer.

ClopySow · 15/01/2017 17:20

I'm making some chicken stock off the carcass. Anyone got any good lchf soup recipes. There was a good one for brocolli and stilton, but i'm trying to cut back my dairy intake a bit.

Maybe i could make something with coconut milk.

chatnanny · 15/01/2017 17:42

Have had a stressful few weeks - nothing major just massive Christmas and post clear up. Have thus not started any kind of eating and drinking regime this year but am starting tomorrow. The two which work for me are 5:2 and LC. I think I'll go back to LC as it's good to cut out the wine too. Great to find this thread.

MrsKoala · 15/01/2017 20:16

Hi BIWI. I will be joining you on the 6th. But i will be drinking wine on the 7th as that is my 40th birthday!

Is the recipe for coudbread on this thread? I've googled it and the recipe i can see has sweetener. Is that the right one?

Aderyn2016 · 15/01/2017 20:44

The cloudbread recipe I use is
3 eggs, separate yolks and white.
Add 1 quarter teaspoon cream tartar to whites.
Add 1 heaped dessertspoon cream cheese to yolks and pinch salt.
Whisk whites into stiff peaks.
Pour yolk in and fold.
Spoon onto baking sheet.
Bake at 150 deg C for 30 mins.

You can do a 'sweet' version with 3 dessertspoons of cream instead of cream cheese and add a little sweetener, cinnamon or zest of an orange. Not tried the sweet version but my sister has and says they have a marshmallow consistency.

Flibbertyjibbit · 15/01/2017 21:52

Starting back on LC tomorrow, please can I join you all here? Tesco are delivering first thing to stock fridge up with green veg, meat

Veryflummoxed · 16/01/2017 03:53

Drawing a veil over yesterday except to say it's the early hours of the morning, my stomach and head hurt and there may be a connection to the remains of a large seasonal cake still lurking in
Kitchen. Sad

ChesterDrawers · 16/01/2017 06:49

Waves at BIWI So looking forward to this BC, feeling v motivated at the moment. I am expecting great things!

Welcome newcomers too, good to have more people to chat with.

Still annoyingly on the ball with this, sorry to those who've had a bad day/weekend.

Today's plan loooks like...
B: eggs, cream, butter
L: leftover pulled pork, salad, Mayo
D: bacon and mushrooms in creamy pesto sauce with cabbage-etti

Off to hospital this morning about my leg so will take a couple of babybels and some almonds in case I'm there for longer than planned.
