Morning all!

for the last time this Bootcamp, is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

I hope that this Bootcamp has been successful for you. I have to say, it's been one of the most trouble-free Grin

I'm certainly carrying on, and with a bit more focus Blush given that we now have a holiday booked in 11 weeks time, that will mean I need to be ready to don a swimsuit.

Sestra - that sounds interesting. I don't know if I could go a whole month without weighing. Good luck.

backonthewagon · 10/09/2016 18:15

BIWI Is it OK to have 3 meals plus low carb snacks in between if you feel hungry? A fatty low carb green smoothie, pork scratchings, avocado, bits of cooked meat, cheese, hard boiled egg etc? Or is it bad to have low carb snacks as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner because they will raise your blood sugar at additional unnecessary time and you should try to make sure your meals keep you satisfied 4-5 hours until your next meal?

wombattoo · 10/09/2016 18:34

backon I think you have answered your own question Grin
I'm sure BIWI will tell you that if you are eating enough at mealtimes, you shouldn't need to snack. You are also right that each time we eat, it causes a spike in blood sugar levels.

BIWI · 11/09/2016 09:23

Confused I answered this question yesterday, but my answer has disappeared!

But basically I said what womabtoo has said I would say Grin!

If you're doing low carb 'properly' you shouldn't be hungry between meals. Plenty of fat, protein and water should ensure that you're not hungry.

So good to see you're still here! Need to whip myself back into shape. Gym this afternoon and will go again tomorrow. Have been easing myself back in as ate monstrous amount of carbs on holiday when I put on half a stone Getting there.

Today:

B: FAGE full fat yogurt plus graze box of soy roasted seeds
L: Went to a lunch party today and did have a mini rocky road bar, but otherwise was good (omelette, salmon & green salad).
D: Pan fried brussel sprouts with a chicken breast and mayo.

Wondering if anyone has any recipes for breakfast shakes/nutribullets using raw egg (if that doesn't sound too weird).

breakfastbap · 11/09/2016 22:00

Hi all, I'm still here, still plodding on but its awfully slow going. I've been playing around with a 1lb loss then gain for the last 5 days. It's not been helped by two days of eating a chicken dish that DH made inthe slow cooker - bless him he's trying to help by cooking but he can't quite get his head around the high fat / low carb thing.

He'd put 5 chicken breasts in the slow cooker with loads of chopped onion, tomato, mushroom, peppers and passata, spices and chilli etc. it was delicious but I think too carby, there was so much of it there I ended up eating it over two days. Also, I drank two cans of diet Pepsi at an event on Saturday night. No alcohol but I couldn't sit and drink water or it would have looked weird.

Anyway, back on it again today, no breakfast as not hungry, buttered veg and pulled beef for lunch and scrambled eggs for tea with butter. Lots of water today and went out with friends to bingo where they all ate large plates of chips and curry and I simply had a water. Amazing willpower but it nearly killed me. Grin

BIWI · 11/09/2016 22:06

Why would drinking water look weird? Tall glass, lots of ice, slice of lime/lemon - who's to know it's not a G&T?
But apart from that, what's wrong with drinking water?

OP posts:
breakfastbap · 11/09/2016 22:27

Nothing at all wrong with drinking water but it was a girls night out in the local rugby club where if I'd ordered water when it came to the others round they would have got me a lager as I get " oh come on you need to let your hair down , you can't stick to this diet all the time" type of moaning.

My friends can't see the benefit of this anyway, they just simply can't their heads around eating the large amounts of fats etc. when I said I'd eaten nearly a pack of butter over a week they seemed to think I would have a heart attack at any moment. ☺️

Scales moving down towards end of boot camp weight Smile

Yesterday's food was

Brunch belly pork.

Dinner gammon, cauliflower, (small portion) carrots, swede chips (done in the actifry) and parley sauce made with all cream and butter.

Followed by FF Greek yogurt.

No snacks (that I can remember).

PapaverSomniferum · 12/09/2016 09:04

Thanks Mother and Wombat. Smile

I've put on 2.5lbs since Wednesday. Sad So a total gain of 1.8lbs this week. Sad

I've let things get too carby, I think, with my crumble and chocolate cream and too much wine. Last night we had a disaster with the roast belly pork and I had to cook something else at the last minute with limited ingredients. I made a beef recipe that has cashew nuts and a carrot in, so too carby as well. It was that or a takeaway, though.

Feeling disheartened, even though I know that week 3 is notorious for not losing.

MaryThorne · 12/09/2016 09:46

Morning everyone! Just checking in after a few weeks away from the thread. Still going strong. I am 20.3lbs down from when I joined Bootcamp nearly 16 weeks ago 165lb now (starting weight 185.3lb!!). My BMI is 25.8 and am only 5lb away from being in the "normal" weight range. My body fat has gone from 35.1% to 27.2%. I still have another 27lb to lose before I get to my goal but it seems achievable in a way it hasn't done in years. Thanks so much BIWI! FlowersFlowers

nekobus · 12/09/2016 10:12

wow Mary well done! love the pics, you already look great :)

Well, I'm starting again today, having fallen off the wagon too many times this summer. Seriously having second thoughts about whether I can stick to this WOE, and was even considering going to slimming world instead but I'm going to give LC one more go. My problem is that when I do fall off the wagon for say 2 days in a row, I then have a spectacular sugar binge, e.g. choc biscuits, sweets etc. I am usually fine if I slip up once, then I get straight back on it, but too many trips away and lack of prep meant summer was a bit of a LC fail for me. I'm back to 180 pounds which is only a few pounds less than start of last BC :(

My plan is to get a head start before the next bootcamp then give it my all in October and see what I can achieve before Christmas!

I got out my IPD books again over the weekend so might follow that for a few weeks to get back in the groove.

Today's food:
B = 2 rashers streaky bacon, 2 eggs, handful spinach, tsp oil, coffee with cream
L = salad, cheese, chicken, mayo
D - Heck sausages, spinach, broccoli

3L of water is my goal

MaryThorne · 12/09/2016 10:30

Thanks Nekobus Smile

clare8allthepies · 12/09/2016 11:18

Wow Mary great progress!

Got completely derailed last week, my youngest was poorly all week and not sleeping. Got myself organised yesterday, meal planned and shopping done. Up early this morning for a hiit workout then bacon egg and mushrooms after the school run. Tuna salad planned for lunch with piri piri chicken and salad for dinner.

Veryflummoxed · 12/09/2016 12:23

Looking fab Mary. Well done

breakfastbap · 12/09/2016 14:23

Mary you look amazing, well done.

Still keeping on keeping on, I'm hoping a straight week of work with no social events planned will mean a shift on the scales by the end of the week.

Today's food

B - 2 eggs scrambled with butter
L- leftover broccoli and swede from yesterday fried in butter with smoked salmon crumbled through (delish)
D - not sure yet, maybe tuna and salad

Have a good day everyone!

margaritasbythesea · 12/09/2016 14:52

Well done Mary. You have a lovely figure.Smile

wombattoo · 12/09/2016 17:06

Mary - you look fab Thanks

MaryThorne · 12/09/2016 20:53

Thanks everyone Smile

PapaverSomniferum · 13/09/2016 08:15

Congratulations Mary - you look amazing!

Well, I weighed myself again this morning as I was hoping that some of yesterday's gain was water weight or something, and according to my scales I've lost 3.2lbs in 24 hours. Confused They aren't dodgy old scales, either; they're fancy schmancy digital ones that measure body fat and muscle etc. I don't know what's going on there, I'm sure, although I did drink plenty of water yesterday and not enough over the weekend, I think.

That makes a loss for last week of 2.4lbs, which I'm very happy with. Smile Smile Smile

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 13/09/2016 14:07

So.... I haven't pooed now for 24hrs. I am not uncomfortable but I do have IBS and will go up to ten times a day normally.

Upped my water consumption ....

If I weigh myself after I hope I have lost a couple of pounds !

BIWI · 13/09/2016 20:13

Well, surely that's good? Relief from IBS symptoms?!

Keep drinking lots of water, and eating plenty of fat. And make sure you're getting your carbs from veg and salad.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 14/09/2016 16:08

I panicked and took two senokot at 3pm - they worked....and some....whilst watching Eastenders!

I think I can honestly say 'I shat myself whilst looking at Phil Mitchell'

DH has banned me from using senokot again and has told me it's normal to only go once a day and not to panic if I go a whole day without a poo

I hang my head in shame

bettyblueeyes83 · 14/09/2016 17:21

Great job Mary. I've been ravenously hungry the past few days (TOTM) but sticking LC fairly well and weight still seems to be coming off so not too worried. Meal-planning, cooking etc all still going well. Have made mint choc chip ice cream from coconut milk, raw cacao powder, cacao nibs, and peppermint essence, just waiting for it to freeze now!! It's not super LC but no sugar and will hit the spot...

breakfastbap · 14/09/2016 17:28

Hi all, I'm still around. Another lb down so 8lb in total over about a month.

Today my appetite has completely disappeared and I have eaten very little

B - 2 eggs and butter
L - chicken liver parfait and cucumber sticks
no dinner just snacked on a mackerel fillet

I know I've not eaten enough veg but just dont feel hungry, I promise to eat a salad tomorrow ☺️
