Morning all!

for the last time this Bootcamp, is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

I hope that this Bootcamp has been successful for you. I have to say, it's been one of the most trouble-free Grin

I'm certainly carrying on, and with a bit more focus Blush given that we now have a holiday booked in 11 weeks time, that will mean I need to be ready to don a swimsuit.

Just checking in.... Sorry to see there's so much stress for everyone at the moments - lots of Flowers needed all round I reckon.

I have been staggered that I have stuck to the plan despite having a really nasty week with a lot of time spent in tears, but somehow staying strong on the LC wagon has helped my resolve and given me a bit of a fighting spirit; hope it lasts!

As a consequence of the nasty stress we're actually no longer going camping which does have the upside that I can be more in control of what I eat so I will put that opportunity to good use.

Today's food:

B - really small bowl of ff greek, flax, dessicated coconut and a few raspberries. Plus a strong coffee with splash of milk. Thought I would need a poached egg from work canteen as a top-up but somehow it has kept me going
S - a few almonds (maybe that is what has kept me going)
L - going to a pub for lunch with work and am hoping they have something like a chicken caesar salad
D - probably bbq'd steak, with a buttery portobello mushroom, kale and broccoli; will prob also have a glass or two of red wine.
S - will prob have 2 squares of 90% choc

Really wish I had weighed myself at the beginning of the week, but I was just too chicken! I will weigh on Monday and hope that it's something close to 12st - aiming to get down to 11st.

Hope everyone's gearing up for a good bank holiday weekend....

Veryflummoxed · 26/08/2016 11:39

Well done for sticking to it through the stress, not easy.
Just posting yesterday's food as I forgot to
Picnic lunch of boiled eggs, belly pork, cherry tomatoes and cucumber.
Dinner. Home made cauliflower soup with a knob of butter.
I watched others with cream teas and icecream and was happy with my cup of tea so hopefully I'm back on track.

lasttimeround · 26/08/2016 13:01

Much moaning and groaning with delight with the orgasmic duck round ours last night. Excellent tip thank you. My h said 'let's have it again' I said 'it's 4.99' he said 'but 4.99 so well spent!' I can't disagree. Just so so good.

PapaverSomniferum · 26/08/2016 13:14

Almost a pound back on this morning. Sad Ah well, I knew that 4.5lbs was too good to be true.

Food yesterday:
B- chicken liver parfait with celery
L- smoked trout etc.
D- Velvet pork (gorgeous!) with anchovy roasted broccoli and cavolo nero with shallots, garlic and fennel.
Rum and lime with water ('cos BIWI told me to). Wink

margaritasbythesea · 26/08/2016 13:54

There's going to be a run on rum and lime now!

I have been contemplating what to treat myself to as a flatwarming present as a treat for having found a flat and bought a mobile phone and school books and uniform in Spanish and I think it might be that. Grin

WilfSell · 26/08/2016 14:27

The week got a lot better.

DS is resolved to do what he will do; I am going to be all ZEN about it for a bit...

Completed a (second) house sale today which means we will be a bit financially healthier.

Oh, and I lost 2lbs (despite AAAALLLLL the wine) Grin

So, slimline G&Ts all round I think?

MothershipG · 26/08/2016 16:16

Palaver Don't panic! As BIWI always says - altogether now! - weight loss isn't linear... Honestly you'll probably find it drops off again soon.

I have spent the afternoon bottleling pears and stewing plums, not an ideal occupation given the weather but time and tide and pears wait for no woman. Grin

Caught a glimpse of myself sideways in the mirror this morning, not a happy sight Sad I'm losing weight, which is obviously the aim but my boobs have started their journey back to being spaniel's ears and I hate it when then look like that. Sad At least when I'm fat they look better. I'll soon have bat wings to go with them and a floppy tummy - but hey my knees will be happier and I don't want to end up like my Dad.

lasttimeround · 26/08/2016 17:10

mothership just gather them up and cradle them in a lovely proper bra and all well - as long as you're dressed.

Veryflummoxed · 26/08/2016 18:51

Mothership I had that in reverse a few months ago. Caught sight of my bosom looking decidedly perky. Quickly realised it was being held up by my enlarged stomach. All is heading south again now.

Food today was

Lunch belly pork hard boiled egg cucumber tomatoes and cauliflower soup.

Dinner. Chops with roast cauliflower and broccoli and Runner beans followed by ff Greek yogurt and two raspberries.

WilfSell · 26/08/2016 18:58

I am making kale crisps to follow my smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers/gherkins dinner.

I've reached peak hipster, 5 years too late.

BIWI · 26/08/2016 19:21

Did a Waitrose shop this evening, as a 'treat'. £209 later Shock ...

But we're having fillet steak tonight, with asparagus (butter and parmesan) and salad.

And some lovely expensive pink gin that I bought yesterday. Grin

PapaverSomniferum · 27/08/2016 08:18

Thank you Mother. Smile I'd still be happy with a 3.5lb loss this week, so if I can maintain that I'll be well away. I share your concern about breasts dwindling into spaniel's ears... I'm large of nork and they're already saggier than I'd like (unsurprising, as they're bloody heavy!). As I'm now menopausal due to the hysterectomy, they will never again have the solidifying effect of being premenstrual; even though I take oestrogen, they feel all soft and floppy in comparison, and I think they're going to look very sad and deflated when I lose weight. Sad Ho hum, 'tis better for our health to be slimmer, and thank goodness for good bras!

Grin @ late-hipster Wilf.

Fucking hell BIWI - what did you buy?! Shock even our Christmas shops don't come to that much! Mind you, I do shop at least twice a week, so if I were doing a shop for a longer time period, it would probably come to that. I don't find Waitrose any more expensive than Sainsburys for the majority of things.

Food yesterday:
L: omelette with boursin, pesto and ham, with side salad.
D: BBQ: squid with a herby dressing. Sea bream with a green salsa sort of thing (capers, anchovies, herbs, garlic, vinegar, oil - was lovely and very piquant!), courgette and cherry tomatoes. Salad with feta.
P: greek yoghurt with clotted cream, vanilla and nutmeg.
Rum, lime and water. Small glass of sauv blanc with the fish.

PapaverSomniferum · 27/08/2016 17:04

Ooh I don't feel well at all today! I've had a headache on and off all week (have drunk plenty and been eating butter and marmite), which I still have today, though not quite as badly. Today, though, I've got an awfully upset tummy and feel very odd - queasy and a bit dizzy. I'm a bit repulsed by the idea of food, too, so I'm assuming I'm in ketosis.

The really odd, thing, though, is that I'm getting weird visual tics and 'brain shivers', which I get when I reduce my dose of antidepressant. But I haven't changed my dose. Confused This morning, my heart felt like it was doing odd things, too. I can't think how low carbing could be responsible for either of those things, though, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Confused

BIWI · 28/08/2016 08:46

Hmm. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

Are you getting plenty of sodium? Are you putting salt in your food and adding it to your food at the table?

I'd talk to your GP to be honest. It could be that your dosage needs to be altered while you're low carbing (which is what happens with medicine for hypertension, I believe).

But try the electrolytes thing first - as well as sodium, you need magnesium and potassium. So salmon, avocado, spinach and natural (full fat) yoghurt are all good for that.

But the salt thing is the most important.

Re Waitrose bill - there was a lot of red wine for DH. Although I chose cheaper options, when it comes to wine Waitrose don't do that many cheaper options!

Then the fillet steak - because I didn't know whether DS2 would be eating with us or not, I bought enough for all of us, so that was £23!

I looked at the receipt afterwards, and stuff that I buy elsewhere, e.g. packets of mixed, roasted nuts, are a lot more expensive there than Sainsbury.

I also bought some reduced stuff - a couple of pizzas and ready meals for DS2. They were 'cheap' relative to other things in Waitrose, but more than I would have spent in Sainsbury.

I like to shop there, but only occasionally. I'm not a branded shopper, and I'm more than happy to buy their Essentials range - but I do think it's very expensive. And, actually, the selection and options available aren't as good as my nearest Sainsbury. There's no pharmacy, for a start. And I can't mooch about the clothes section!

Papaver I felt exactly like that yesterday! I ended up putting it down to weird air pressure because of the enormous storm that happened - that's the kind of hocum my mum comes out with so in the absence of any more obvious reason I went with that! And I feel a lot more normal today so maybe my mum is onto something...?!?

Still going to plan here - I am a mix of excited and nervous to weigh in tomorrow to see if my week of being super disciplined has had a good effect!

BBQ tonight with lots of green salady things and maybe some berries and cream for pudding.

PapaverSomniferum · 28/08/2016 19:29

Thank you BIWI. Have been getting plenty of sodium (marmite plus adding salt to everything), so not that, and I take a magnesium/calcium supplement. Might be potassium, though - will try that. They can't increase my dosage (nor would I want them to), as I'm on the maximum dose (and higher than they'd like as it can cause heart arrythmias). I'm still getting them today, but milder than yesterday. I feel a bit better overall, though I felt quite odd in the morning (same - queasy, dizzy, brain shivers, visual stuff etc). I ate a few raspberries, because I think it might be being in ketosis that does it (I do remember ketosis not agreeing with me from previous BCs). Anyway, thanks for the advice. Lisba you could be on to something there; the most enormous storm narrowly missed us - tracked on the fabulous www.lightningmaps.org.

wombattoo · 28/08/2016 19:48

Hello everyone. I love Waitrose but I always spend too much.
I'm not really doing well food wise, but I have written it off as 'a break'. I fully intend to get back on track. My stomach is so bloated.
It's good to read what everyone else is eating.

margaritasbythesea · 28/08/2016 20:02

Having been obliged to eat what has been kindly cooked for me, I seem to be taking great pleasure in falling off the wagon entirely, snaffling white bread and butter and puddings galore.

I can't wait to get back on track in Tuesday.

Love that your pink ginger wasn't even from the same shop BIWI Grin

margaritasbythesea · 28/08/2016 20:04

Damned auto correct! gin

It wanted to change BIWI to Bowie too Smile

clare8allthepies · 28/08/2016 20:18

A good weekend food wise although a few wines may have been drunk the last couple of evenings. Had the cheesy chicken chorizo and spinach from the body coach book tonight, after swapping the red onion for a shallot it was only about 8g carbs per (massive) serving. And very yummy!

herecomesthsun · 28/08/2016 21:50

Ah gherkins, I think I need some for a sodium hit!

restinglawyer · 29/08/2016 09:10

Back to the thread for the first time since the end of boot camp, and thrilled to find it still going strong. Just what I need to get back into the low carb WOE after 6 weeks very much off piste, and having put on 6 of the 13lb I lost on boot camp. Reading the last few pages is enough to make me look forward to getting back in gear - thanks everyone, and Flowers to Wilf for exam related stress.

Cherrypi · 29/08/2016 09:30

Does the next boot camp start in October? Thanks.
