Morning all!

for the last time this Bootcamp, is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

I hope that this Bootcamp has been successful for you. I have to say, it's been one of the most trouble-free Grin

I'm certainly carrying on, and with a bit more focus Blush given that we now have a holiday booked in 11 weeks time, that will mean I need to be ready to don a swimsuit.

Two more days of carbage due to family events (I know, no excuse). However today I seriously start afresh. I'm posting my food now so I have to stick to it. Please bash me with that stick BIWI if I fall off again.

Brunch. Pork scratchings

Snack coffee with cream.

Dinner will be. Prawn curry with LC veg.

I'm just off to get some water.

Sending encouragement to all those trying to start afresh. And well done to all those keeping going.

Papaver. In the past (pre Bootcamp) I've tried to do low carb and felt it was very unhealthy. However BIWI really encourages healthy eating; lots of fresh food and minimal processed crap (please ignore my brunch of pork scratchings). There are lots of lovely recipes on the recipe thread and lots of people posting satisfying healthy meals on here. Good luck.

Starting today (again) I lost 16 pounds during April and May but a very greedy nearly 3 months off has seen me put nearly half of it back on. I've been reading the body coach book and it seems like a good plan but I'm going to start with at least a months bootcamping first to get some weight off.

First day: lunch of courgetti and bacon with piri piri chicken and salad for dinner.

Veryflummoxed · 22/08/2016 21:16

Yes I did it, stuck to my food plan. Food was lovely too, hopefully after a couple of days it will come easily again.

lisbapalea · 22/08/2016 21:18

I have stuck to the plan too! Onwards and upwards now - KOKO everyone!

triggy80 · 22/08/2016 21:21

Well done very,me too! Had 3l of water which took a lot of effort! The velvet pork was delicious. I realised today though where my extra calories came from. As well as swerving the toast crusts this morning I also had to consciously tell myself to put my niece's cheese on toast leftovers for lunch in the bin and not eat them. I am a human Hoover!! Blush

PapaverSomniferum · 22/08/2016 22:08

Thanks Very. Smile I know bootcamp/low carb can be a really healthy way of eating, it's just that I'm a bit fussy with food and not the biggest fan of vegetables/certain food combinations. I'm also a cheese fiend! I know I can cook food I really enjoy on this WOE, though, so I just need to get creative when I get bored with my low carb favourites. I'll have a look on the recipe thread, and I bought some pork chops today to try the velvet pork that was linked to upthread.

Food today:
B: egg mayonnaise.
L: fried halloumi, a few pomodorino tomatoes, ham.
D: beef and mushroom stroganoff with cauli rice.
Plenty of water. Had some butter and marmite to try to banish the headache.

NigellasGuest · 23/08/2016 09:47

Thanks Neko - I'm so relieved for my DD - and hopefully she is converted generally for her life regarding LC-ing.

Papaver - the DD I'm talking about put on a load of weight with medication too so I know how demoralising that can be. Are you still on the meds and aiming to manage your weightloss whilst being on them, or have you stopped them and are now dealing with the weight gain they caused? Also, you can do this WOE without eating processed meat and dairy. In fact, they are somewhat frowned upon and I think the general LC approach is NOT to have them too much. Unprocessed food is the way forward as the processed stuff has loads of added nasties. Occasional bacon is fine but not every day. Perhaps try and convince yourself that processed meat and dairy are not part of the LC WOE (I know it's hard and I for one love dairy but although it is LC, too much of it does stop weightloss for lots of people).
Triggy well done for the crust binning!!!
As for myself, well I did really badly yesterday. The summer hols are proving my downfall. Honestly, I low carbed all the way through Christmas - it looks like summer is the new Christmas IYSWIM. Total lack of routine, constant traumas over A'level results and now upcoming GCSE results, lovely neighbours giving posh biscuits to thank me for cat sitting..... and so it goes on. I really need help here!!!

triggy80 · 23/08/2016 12:20

I understand what you mean nigella I am a teacher and summer holidays mean a farewell to all routines and normal eating habits, I am much more reserved at Christmas! Posh biscuits are hard to ignore. Good luck!

clare8allthepies · 23/08/2016 16:43

Day 2 going ok, took the girls to asda cafe followed by the ice cream parlour today and just had a black coffee!

Lunch: black farmer sausages with courgetti, dinner: pork fillet with mustard cream sauce and Spring greens.

wombattoo · 23/08/2016 17:44

Hello everyone.
I'm pleased to see there are some great losses mostly
Nigella - I'm pleased for your DD. It must be awful for her gaining weight due to meds that she needs. She should be proud of herself Thanks

I have been struggling and feel larger around my chest/stomach but the scales aren't showing much of a gain. I know from my own experience that my body can shrink a fair bit whilst the scales don't go down, but I'm going to reign it in and get back on board again

lasttimeround · 23/08/2016 18:59

Highlight of my day: chicken liver pate

Black coffee at the ice cream parlour. Hats off to you

Veryflummoxed · 23/08/2016 19:53

Day started well. Evening meal, draws a veil. Yes i agree with the summer holidays lack of routine thing making it difficult. Oh well start again tomorrow. Blush

Veryflummoxed · 23/08/2016 19:54

I wonder if it was the same icecream parlour I visited last week. I'm certainly didn't have a black coffee. You are an impressive lady.

PapaverSomniferum · 23/08/2016 23:20

Thanks Nigella. Smile Yes, I'm finished on the medication that piled the weight on, thankfully. At the end of that, though, I had a total hysterectomy (8 weeks ago) and am now adjusting to oestrogen HRT - not sure how all that will affect my weight and body shape. I need to shift a couple of stone pretty urgently, though, that's for sure.

Yes, I totally agree that it's perfectly possible to low carb without an excess of processed meat and dairy (and that an excess of those is not good), it's just that I personally find it hard to do so! Grin I don't eat large volumes of it, just a bit at a time, but I do find myself having delicious cured pig with most lunches in some form - either ham, bacon or chorizo. It replaces the bread, in a way, I think. I'll keep working on finding alternative lunch ideas.

Food today:
B- creme fraiche with slivers of smoked trout and a little spoonful of salmon caviar mixed in. Lush!
L- omelette with boursin and ham, a few tomatoes, salad dressed in hemp oil, cider vinegar and english mustard.
D- salmon fillet with a butter, shallot cream sauce. Anchovy roasted broccoli.
P- greek yoghurt with clotted cream and ground vanilla.
Rather a lot of tea. 2L or so of water.

MothershipG · 24/08/2016 06:22

Palaver anchovy roasted broccoli sounds lush, how do you make that?

I use belly pork to replace cured meats, I precook it (if you use plenty of paprika it's a quite good chorizo sub) then cut it into small pieces and then fry it and have instead of bacon or mix it in with roast veg and zap in the micro. It's tasty, got plenty of fat on it and has really helped me cut down on processed meat.

breakfastbap · 24/08/2016 08:38

I'm still around, not fallen off the planet although I wish I had today....the low carby headache never really went away and on Monday I had a day off with the children. Safe to say the low carby headache went away after our lunch out so I'll say no more about that. Since, I've been 90% LC but in the evenings I'm buckling. The feeling is in my teeth if that makes sense, I feel as though I'm grinding them all the time, I feel edgy and strange.

I'll start again today, if I can just power through the first week I'm sure I'll be fine.

lasttimeround · 24/08/2016 09:04

If you want to get through the low carb headache you need salts. Just eat lots of it. Lots of water too. Also magnesium citrate supplements make a huge difference.

triggy80 · 24/08/2016 09:16

I had the low carb headache yesterday. Also I drank just over 3L of water but couldn't shake the feelings of thirst. Had an oxo cube in the evening but it didn't help.

BIWI · 24/08/2016 09:26

More salt will help with that!

After being so pleased with my ice cream avoidance yesterday my toddler has been awake all night long so this morning I'm shattered and craving biscuits. Any tips for getting through it without falling face first into the sugar?

triggy80 · 24/08/2016 09:49

Thanks biwi I did salt everything I ate but obviously not enough! Will add more today see if it helps.

PapaverSomniferum · 24/08/2016 11:44

2kg /4.5lbs off since Monday. I know it's water and glycogen, but it did bring a smile to my face when I stepped on the scales this morning. Smile Smile

Mothership Anchovy Roasted Broccoli...
Heat the oven to around 200*C, chop your broccoli into florets.
Put a roasting dish into the oven with a good slosh of olive oil/butter/whatever in the bottom, and let it get really hot.
Add some anchovy fillets (the ones that come in little jars, packed in olive oil, not the marinated deli ones) into the oil and stir them around so that they sizzle and break up to a paste consistency.
Add the broccoli and toss it all together to coat the broccoli in the anchovy oil.
Roast for 20 mins or so, until a little burnt on the edges/tender/however you like it.
Delicious! Smile

I love anchovies! Such a fantastic umami flavour. I add them to all sorts of things.

BIWI · 24/08/2016 13:12

BTW, if any of you have a Crussh near you, I can highly recommend The rare roast beef Asian slaw and zero noodle salad Only 6.3g of carbs, and it's lovely
