Morning all!

for the last time this Bootcamp, is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

I hope that this Bootcamp has been successful for you. I have to say, it's been one of the most trouble-free Grin

I'm certainly carrying on, and with a bit more focus Blush given that we now have a holiday booked in 11 weeks time, that will mean I need to be ready to don a swimsuit.

Breakfastbap well done, I lost loads in the first week and then things slowed down so keep going. Honestly, I have never completely got over the sugar craving but most people find it goes after a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed that happens for you!

DH and I were picking blackberries and pears in the park were we walk the dogs. I now have half a dozen jars of rather delicious pear and blackberry jam. Blush Honestly what was I supposed to do with free fruit? can't let it up to waste!

nekobus · 20/08/2016 21:10

Love the look of that velvet pork recipe, Sestra, thanks for sharing!

I'm on day 6 of being back on LC (BC light style!). It's going ok but we have family visiting and that usually means the wine and G&Ts flowing so that's my only downfall! I can't wait for the summer hols to be over and back to the usual routine, I'm all over the place Confused. 2 more short breaks to come before school starts, it will be tough (both camping) but I'm determined to stick with it. I'm going for another stone before Christmas Smile

IndianaJone · 20/08/2016 23:18

Well done Sestra. Also logging in to hold myself accountable. I hope tomorrow is a better day! On the up side... I'm keeping to lc-ing more than not but atm haven't managed to go back to this woe fully. I'm just going to keep trying until I do!

lasttimeround · 21/08/2016 12:35

Lovely sunny Sunday here.
Eating plan:
B- bacon, creme fraiche
L- pork belly, salad
D- chicken liver pate, celery

NigellasGuest · 21/08/2016 14:23

So far today I've had a couple of coffees with cream, and 2 squares of 90% chocolate. Will have an omelette soon.

If anyone remembers me posting about my DD who was withdrawing from anti-psychotics, which caused weight gain, I'd like to give you an update. She has lost all the weight and looks exactly the same size as she used to! She says it's because she stopped the medication, but she HAS been LC-ing and I'm convinced that has a lot to do with the speed at which she's got back to normal. Secretly she must think that too, because she is continuing with the LC WOE.... she did strict bootcamp for probably about 3 or 4 weeks, and now is on BC lite. She's had a few planned cheats along the way, including on her 18th birthday naturally, and has indulged in prosecco a couple of times a week (as have I, and at my age my body is a lot less forgiving)!

Mothership - I feel your pain. I LOVE blackberrying and no way will I be foregoing that. I also have a plum tree (you know what that means)! The good thing about jam is that it will last for ages and ages, so you can have small amounts as and when as a planned cheat. You can also pickle fruit - sounds odd, but I have a recipe for pickled blackberries and they are absolutely gorgeous. So, it's not like you have all this amazing fruit and have to eat it all at once necessarily.

MothershipG · 21/08/2016 21:55

Good news about you DD Nigella, thanks for the update.

We picked plums today (in the same park, it used to be allotments and the fruit trees are left over from then) so I made pear and plum jam today Blush You're right about it keeping and I'll give some away and DH and DC will eat some so it won't go to waste. Smile

I made a cauliflower crust pizza for my tea tonight, it was tasty but the base was floppy so I had to eat it with a knife and fork which is just wrong. Grin

Apologies for the double post.

MothershipG · 22/08/2016 06:36

Yeah! 4lbs down this week and that's after a weekend of BC light and not nearly enough water.

I was reading a blog were the poster was saying that she saw improved weight loss if she alternated low and very low carb eating.

Anyone else experienced this?

triggy80 · 22/08/2016 08:59

Ok after some serious lurking I'm starting this today. What are your top tips for success/surviving the day without a full on toast binge?

NigellasGuest · 22/08/2016 09:15

Oh dear, I fell off the wagon yesterday. I won't go into detail! Starting over today. I guess Monday is a good day for that.
Mothership yes I think that can work well, once you've done initial bootcamp and initially shifted some weight. I've definitely done that in the past with great success. Happy fruit picking and preserving!

triggy the hardest part is when you start out, but I will join you as peer support is the best, and I'm starting again today. My tips are to make sure you are feeling FULL... that makes it less likely you will go for a carby binge! Keep up the water intake. Are you at work or at home? If at home, can you manage a full on cooked LC lunch? Danger zone - for me at least - is afternoon/early evening, and other people in the house eating (or at least, displaying!!) carby food. This is particularly hard right now, with teens home for Summer hols. What have you eaten so far today?

triggy80 · 22/08/2016 09:26

I am at home for the next two weeks. Currently feeding my 11 month old toast with his cereal but eating lovely buttery scrambled eggs at the same time to stop me "helping him out with his crusts". OH eats late and I try to eat with DS so late evenings are a danger time for me. I'm terrible with drinking water too so have filled up a big bottle to monitor how I'm doing. Lunch I'm planning tuna mayo in lettuce wraps and dinner I'm going to give the velvet pork recipe a go with some broccoli. Along with a couple of creamy coffees does this look about right?

NigellasGuest · 22/08/2016 10:01

ha ha I know the helping out with the crusts feeling! That's hard. And 11 month olds are exhausting anyway. Sounds like you are doing incredibly well to me. Bin any of his leftovers right away or do the old washing up liquid trick. What time do you and DS eat in the evening? Is that a different DS to the 11 month old? (sorry if you've already posted about that, I haven't read back Blush )
Your lunch and dinner and creamy coffees all sound about right to me... someone more knowledgable may post. The important thing is also lots of fat to keep you full!

lasttimeround · 22/08/2016 10:02

Nice one mothership.
Im a kilo down. Yay now officially under 70kgs. Monday is weigh day so now it counts (serious face)

I'm so looking forward to everything I've got to eat this week. I got the orgasmic duck - excited. Plus chicken liver for making pate. Plus already made roast pork belly and some courgette and feta muffins. I will also make more fat bombs - I bought dome v dark chocolate with raspberry for that

lasttimeround · 22/08/2016 10:04

Today
B- courgette feta muffin
L- hot smoked salmon and herby crefee
D- mince w mushrooms and cheese
S-celery, fat bomb

lasttimeround · 22/08/2016 10:06

Triggy your menu sounds good. Drink loads. If achy and tired drink stock or have lots of salt. It's a lot of water at first but you'll get used to it. Good luck

triggy80 · 22/08/2016 10:38

Thanks for the tips! Water is a biggie I think. Just the one DS nigella first and last! He is very tall, slim and incredibly active! OH is a distance runner so our house is very carby! But I know they are not my friend. I lost a stone of the 2 I put on during pregnancy and afterwards due to EMCS through LC and 5:2 earlier this year. However a holiday made me lose my focus and have struggled since.

lasttimeround · 22/08/2016 10:55

To get back into lc I hard boil lots of eggs for quick and v filling snacks. The first few days I'm still all hungry and just focus on eating low carb knowing that the rest will come once I get past 3 days

nekobus · 22/08/2016 11:25

So pleased to hear about your DD, Nigella that's great news.

I fell off the wagon yesterday too, Blush I was doing do well all week having restarted (again!) last Monday, but a rare night out yesterday and I slipped up. It was only between 8 and 11 but I'm shocked at how many carbs I could consume in 3 hours.... Shock

Well done Mothership good luck with resisting the jam!

triggy my tips would be: do as much prep as you can to avoid reaching for carby stuff so like last suggests have hard boiled eggs ready for grabbing, also cooked meat, babybels, veg sticks of cucumber and celery good for scooping up boursin, smoked salmon, LC sausages... I find water hard too but fill up a 750 bottle 4 times a day to get my 3L in.
Use the recipe thread for inspiration and for any of your go-to meals for the family just google 'low-carb x' and there is bound to be a recipe online!

last your photos look fab, I want that pork belly!

PapaverSomniferum · 22/08/2016 11:52

Hello, can I join you, please?

I need to lose 2 - 3 stone. I did bootcamp a few years ago and lost almost 2 stone, but that's all gone back on (and then some). I've tried a few times since but haven't been able to stick at it - I end up eating too much processed meat and dairy, and it doesn't feel healthy to me. I've got to do something now, though, as it's getting beyond a joke - I'd rather live on bacon for 10 weeks and get the weight off, frankly, than carry on like this.

My health has been a bit crap over the last year or two, and I've been on medication that really piled the weight on. I was hoping that there was a bootcamp in the offing, but given that there doesn't seem to be, I'm just going to pile in and start. Day 1 today. I'm off shopping shortly to stock up on low carb goodies.

lisbapalea · 22/08/2016 13:22

I seriously need to get back into these threads!

I spectacularly failed at the last bootcamp, depsite several promises on the thread and to myself that I was going to sort myself out.

I haven't dared weigh myself but I just feel bleurgh. I started back on the wagon last week but fell off on Friday as I went out for a friend's 40th. I always knew that would be a night 'off' but promised myself I would be good again on saturday. Which I was until about 4pm when my hangover got the better of me at a village fete so it was cake, hotdog and ice cream a go-go.

Today really is the beginning of a new disciplined me! We're off camping on saturday for a night or two so I can't promise to stick to all the LC rules then but that is the only major obstacle in the way for a good few weeks so I am seriously getting back into the swing of things.

Food plan for today:

B - berries with ff greek, flax, dessicated coconut and cocoa nibs, plus a strong coffee made with a splash of ff milk
L - tuna mayo and boiled egg salad from work canteen
D - will be a homemade tuna nicoise salad; lunch was a bad choice really as I already knew this would be dinner!
S - handful of almonds at 11am and will prob have a square of 90% choc after dinner

Am sticking to BC light rules until the next BC starts when I will go hardcore for 2 weeks again.

Our oven died on us a week ago and we're not fixing it as we're getting a new kitchen in a couple of months so we're just going to have to Make Do. It annoyingly does mean no lovely roast cauliflower which is my favourite curry accompaniment, and it means no lovely roast meats, but we do have a gas bbq so can probably use that a bit.

Any ideas for hob-based delicious meals would be great! We also have a slow cooker....

Now onto Ocado to stock back up with all of the good stuff!

lisbapalea · 22/08/2016 13:22

PS - when does the next bootcamp start?

WestCoastDreamin · 22/08/2016 14:06

hi all,
I fell off the thread but have been going (kinda) with the bootcamp so I've added my latest weight to the sheet. Lost 16lbs since starting and 26lbs overall (I started low carving a bit before bootcamp) so I'm delighted with that!
It's been a busy August though so I'm heading back to 2week bootcamp as a kickstarter to get me back on track (stop drinking alcohol!!)

Well done all :D

StuntNun · 22/08/2016 15:11

Mothership I've never heard of anyone alternating low carb and very low carb like that. The only reason I can think of is if she has leptin resistance and she needs higher carb intervals to boost her leptin levels. But if that was the case then I would probably either choose LC or keto but with fortnightly carb refeed.
