Morning all!

Not a good day for me. Have had a horrible night's sleep (i.e. hardly any) because I have a really nasty cold, which is making breathing difficult.

Have a full-on day at work to look forward to as well, which is nice.

Anyway, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you all

Just two more weeks to go, so let's keep this last fortnight a strict one.

You are so going to say it’s the cheese. I know it

GBBO15 · 15/07/2016 11:34

Thanks sestra. 2lb might not sound like a lot, but usually I would lose 0.5lb a week when trying so super quick for me. Been having a lot of dairy too so hopefully I'm going to be able to tolerate it on LCHF ok which is a relief as being vegetarian it would have been v v difficult otherwise.
Though biwi that rose Elliot book arrived and it's great!

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 11:38

I have just cooked a 'chocolate cake' from the Rose Elliot veggie low carb book - this very morning .Cooling on rack now….

GBBO15 · 15/07/2016 11:42

Grin lovely notdead. Though with a teething one year old at home I'm never going to be that organised here, I can just about cook us all the basics. Enjoy!

SestraClone · 15/07/2016 11:47

Notdead. that is a shit tonne of dairy! Grin

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 11:55

I know (hangs head in shame). But the total carb count is still really low (clutches at straws).

GBBO15 · 15/07/2016 12:00

I know nothing about this woe yet notdead, but maybe you should try a week dairy free and see what happens? I feel your pain though, I eat a ton of dairy too but have just accepted it might slow me down.

SestraClone · 15/07/2016 12:50

I seem to be ok with dairy, but I am sure Biwi said that it stalls some people so it might be worth dropping it just to see what happens. I don't think it's the carb content that is the issue, but something else that I can't remember.

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 13:05

The idea of no dairy on top of no bread etc. is just super harsh. Hey ho. Am waiting for BIWI to appear with her stick….

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 13:06

Just had v. tasty 'mockeroni cheese' from Rose Elliot book. Basically tofu takes the place of pasta to make a macaroni cheese like thing. Kids even ate it which was astonishing.

BIWI · 15/07/2016 13:43

Right.

Thur:
B: 2 coffees with d cream. FAGE FF yogurt
L: 2 Black Farmer pork sausages. 5 mini baby bel. rocket & roasted red pepper
D: Sirloin steak with lettuce and mayo. Followed by LOTS of cheese…. (DH gets a monthly cheese delivery and lots of yummy things arrived).

Wed:
B: 2 coffees with d cream. 2 eggs fried in butter
L: 1 hard boiled egg, crispy bacon strips, half an avocado. Rocket, radish, lettuce and mayo.
D: Tuna mayo with some raw spinach and half an avocado
S: 10 slices (I know) Edam. 1 Quest white chocolate bar (low carb – I know).

Definitely a lot of dairy going on here, but also processed foods - bacon and sausage. AND a chocolate bar?? WTAF?! I don't care if it's low carb, it's still not Bootcamp-friendly!

Tue:
B: 2 coffees with d cream. Protein shake with unsweetened soya milk and 1 tbsp MCT oil

Did you check the carb count of the protein shake and milk? And more importantly, did you read the ingredients of the protein shake? Again, highly processed and artificial

L: Bresaola, half an avocado, rocket, radish, a couple of cherry tomatoes, some shredded parmesan. Olive oil & mayo

More processed meat ...

D: Beef meatballs, cauli mash with butter & crème fraiche
S: 7 mini baby bel

More dairy ...

Mon:
B: 2 coffee with d cream. 2 eggs fried in butter
L: 3 pork sausages (Harrogate 97% pork so low carb) with green beans and butter
D: Sashimi. Roasted cod with some potato. Sardine puff canapé. Bitter chocolate tart. Was DH’s birthday treat at restaurant.
S: 3 baby bel

More processed food and a lot of dairy but also a VERY high carb day. I get that it was a special occasion but you can't eat like this and then complain that you're not losing weight!

Sun:
B: 2 coffees with d cream. protein shake with unsweetened almond milk and 1tbsp MCT oil.
L: Beef burger. Buttered green beans
D: Roast chicken leg with skin. Half avo, green salad and mayo. Mozzarella.
S: 5 baby bel

Processed food and dairy ...

Throughout lots of water and green tea

But how much water?

Go and re-read Bootcamp rules because you're really not following them properly.

I think you also might need to look at how much fat you're eating - you could probably do with more. I hope that your salads are eaten with an oily dressing - but you're not listing that, so I don't know!

Please don't say things like "I have been good in terms of carb count" because it's not just about carbs, it's about the overall approach to how we low carb and what foods we eat.

Still here, just haven't posted for a while, still losing too - down to 10st 6 this week so am delighted. Would still like to lose another half a stone by the middle of August but I concede that will be difficult. Anything between 10st and 10st 3 I will see as success though.

Hope you feel better by now Biwi, I had the cold last week and it was not nice at all.

Just wondered what you are all doing at the end of BC and Biwi when does the next one start (I'm guessing you do a pre-Christmas one? Or is one a year enough for you!)

Would love to carry on if possible.

MothershipG · 15/07/2016 13:59

Not dead I had also stalled for 4 weeks I was also dreading being told to cut out dairy...and I hate to tell you this but it did the trick.

So now I am adding butter or oil were once I would have added cheese and it's ok.

I think that part of the problem is that cheese is too delicious and too easy, just grab a babybel or take a chuck of a lump of excellent cheddar, so we eat too much of it.

I'm not going to lie to you, it does make this woe harder but it's still do-able.

BIWI · 15/07/2016 14:14

thanks for asking Whistle! Yes it's been absolutely horrible. Feeling a bit better now thankfully!

After this Bootcamp finishes, I keep a general chat/support thread going, and then will probably do another one in the run up to Christmas. It generally starts towards the end of October.

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 14:43

Thanks BIWI and Mothership.

The restaurant day was a total exception. The only time in the whole 6 weeks - but included it as thought easiest just to show last few days rather than deliberately seeking out 'typical' examples…

I think one of the main mistakes I have made is on the processed foods issue. Because I read on one of the spreadsheets recommendations for Black Farm sausages, I guess I thought they were fine (rather than just occasionally). On the protein shake, it is definitely low carb (it's called Ketoslim after all), but certainly full of artificial nonsense. Again - had been more focused on carb count than anything else so suspect that is where I have been going wrong.

I really thought it was going to be the cheese - pretty much exclusively - that you picked me up on, so that's interesting. Will go back and check the BC rules as suggested.

Oh - and have been having Delouis mayo with all my salad so think I'm ok on the fat side. Also keep thinking that one upside to having been porting out on cheese is that it is very fatty….

And in case anyone is interested - the Rose Elliot 'chocolate cake' is pretty foul. Don't bother!!

GBBO15 · 15/07/2016 14:45

BIWI Glad to hear you're feeling better. My dd seems to have come down with something here so been up most of night, but I'm feeling pretty good considering. I felt awful for the first two days of LCHF but then it just suddenly went. I've noticed a real drop off in my appetite and I've lost interest in chocolate/sweet things which is so not me.
One thing I was wondering - I know beans and pulses such as lentils are out for BC but can they be introduced in moderation later on? They're so handy for me..

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 14:47

'porking' out, obv.

MaryThorne · 15/07/2016 16:29

BIWI, glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better.

Pleased to hear there is a general support thread post-bootcamp, it'll be good to have something to help keep me on the straight and narrow! I'm so glad I came across this thread when I did - I might have tried LCHF but I doubt I'd still be doing it properly by now. Having everyone to share experiences with and encouraging one another has made all the difference. I hope that by the time next BC starts, my starting weight will be a lot closer to my goal weight Smile

Veryflummoxed · 15/07/2016 18:19

I think my portion sizes are creeping up again so I thought for this last week plus days I'd post pictures of my meals. Decided this morning but remembered just as about to eat evening meal although I'm not to worried about breakfast lunch it's more the evening one. Sorry bit of a ramble. I just thought if I post it it might make me think about what I'm putting on the plate. Feel free to comment or not

B left over egg mayo and tuna mayo (from sandwich making) with cucumber

L boiled eggs with dressed leaves

D roast lamb, mushroom, samphire, spinach butter. Small portion mint sauce.

Herb teas and water. But again not enough. I am going to make a concerted effort now.

SestraClone · 15/07/2016 19:02

Very, I read recently that photographing your meals & sharing them does work to help control portion sizes/lose weight. I also happen to love food photography, so share away!

MothershipG · 15/07/2016 20:36

Sorry to pester BIWI are stevia and erithrytol ok on boot camp? Apparently they don't have an affect on insulin levels. And they are naturally derived. Seeing as 8 weeks in I still haven't lost the craving for sweetness I thought they might help.

What do you think?

MothershipG · 15/07/2016 20:38

I like that idea Flummoxed and your dinner looks delicious!

bettyblueeyes83 · 15/07/2016 20:57

Another decent day, I feel really full and sated most of the time again. Exercise was body pump class.

B: shake with almond milk, 20g frozen berries, peanut butter, flax seed, chia seed, organic protein powder, cream, vanilla
L: M&S Serrano and Manchego rolitos
D: sirloin steak with garlic butter, rocket and avocado with Olive oil, tomato and mushrooms cooked in steak fat/butter (so good!)
S: Coyo

BIWI · 15/07/2016 23:45

Mothership

If you haven't lost your taste for sweet things then that's a really good reason why you shouldn't bother!

Artificial sweeteners are highly processed and there's some evidence that they can also spike an insulin response. So best avoided
