Morning all!

Not a good day for me. Have had a horrible night's sleep (i.e. hardly any) because I have a really nasty cold, which is making breathing difficult.

Have a full-on day at work to look forward to as well, which is nice.

Anyway, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you all

Just two more weeks to go, so let's keep this last fortnight a strict one.

Urgh I need another veil to draw over this eve. My uber day has gone off the rails. Aiming to make tomorrow count.

MothershipG · 13/07/2016 06:40

Thanks everyone.

Pippi I have been adding butter or olive oil where once I would have added cheese so eating an alarming but delicious amount of fat. I think it's just that baking is a hobby for me so I'm not only changing my diet but also losing a hobby, at least for a while.

DoctoraNova · 13/07/2016 09:39

What about baking these Mothership? I think they look great. Why don't you try them and then let me knowGrin

I forgot why I wanted to posh Blush. I am so ditzy when I'm on maternity leave. My daughters birthday is coming up in a fortnight, she will be five. Any cool ideas of low(ish) carb cake or other "goodies"? I was thinking about those egg-and-cream-cheese-pancakes rolled up with cinnamon or peanut butter or drizzled with dark chocolate.

NotdeadyetBOING · 13/07/2016 11:27

I have dreadful cravings today…. Just ate a whole pack of edam sliced cheese…. Next to no carbs, but clearly not ideal. Ahem. What I really want is a sodding baguette. ARGH!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 13/07/2016 12:28

Doctoranova, I've recently bought Super Foods for Super Children by the author or Real Meal Revolution. It has some lovely ideas for low carb treats for children. I think The Book People have it on their website for a good price.
There is a whole section with ideas for kids party food. Smile

MothershipG · 13/07/2016 13:55

Thanks for the link Doctor, they contain Erythritol and I'm not sure if we're allowed that.

So there's a question are we allowed Erythritol and stevia? I've read that neither of them effect insulin levels. Do we know if that's reliable?

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/07/2016 14:10

I'm feeling very meh about this woe atm, don't take offence anyone! I seem to be eating the same stuff over and over again. I want cake and can't have it! Can you all tell me your favourite low carb snack or food so I can try and mix it up a bit p,ease, I'd really like to carry this on after boot camp.

flyright · 13/07/2016 14:19

hang on in there Tits! - I think i'm lucky in that I'm quite happy eating the same stuff quite often but others will tell you there's huge variety available unless you're a fussy salad rejector like me

I thought id lost half a pound last week but had misremembered my previous weight and its was actually 1.2 pounds - not huge I know but enough to feel good about and since Monday another pound has gone.

So i'm feeling motivated. Success definitely breeds success in this game so I'll try and pass some on :-)

good wise I eat ff yog and berries, M&S balanced for you ready meals at lunch (the courgetti ones) and chicken/meat/fish with celeriac mash, asparagus, beans, mushrooms, leeks etc etc in the evenings. Scrambled eggs and bacon at the weekend.

Snack on 10 hazelnuts a day, coyo yoghurts, babybel or other mini cheese, cooked chicken, ham and cream cheese roll ups.

It will be worth it if you hang on in there - take a look at the recipes thread maybe?

Chin up

flyright · 13/07/2016 14:20

ooh - and halloumi on the barbeque - not a daily occurance but once a week its delicious...with red peppers also barbequed - chicken with a bit of cilli and lime....

Veryflummoxed · 13/07/2016 14:34

I love the meatzza from the recipe thread.

Once a week we have dressed green salad with avacado fried prawns and halloumi fried in butter.
(I love this, feels like a treat)

Curried cuts of fatty lamb. With the courgetti mint salad (recipe thread)

Sorry, I doubt there's anything there you haven't thought of.

PippilottaViktualia · 13/07/2016 14:46

Have you got Pinterest Tits ? If you search low carb high fat recipes there's quite a few nice things, including one for cheeseburger casserole which is just as filthy as it sounds Grin. There are some dessert recipes also, mainly for cheesecake.

PippilottaViktualia · 13/07/2016 14:52

Or panacotta without a sugar and use double cream and scrape of vanilla pod? It's nice with couple of berries to serve

BIWI · 13/07/2016 15:04

Titsalina try not to think of low carbing as a special diet, or way of eating! Just think of it as what you'd eat normally, but with extra veg and no potatoes!!!

There's more than enough foods/meals you can eat, so no excuse not to think there's not enough variety.

Have you checked out the recipe thread?

MothershipG · 13/07/2016 15:10

BIWI what's the word on stevia and Erythritol?

Various sites say they don't affect insulin levels so can be used when LCing. What do you think?

Tits I have every sympathy, have some Flowers Honestly once I get to my target weight I will reevaluate but frankly life without carbs does not sound appealing! I still crave bread & cakes and can't imagine life without them.

NotdeadyetBOING · 13/07/2016 17:21

Tits - I sympathise too. I think maybe the thing is not to think of the BC approach as a permanent woe. More - as BIWI says - just normal eating without the spuds/rice/pasta. At the moment I'm trying to avoid fruit, tomatoes, broad beans, lentils etc. which all feels a bit silly in a way as I know they are healthy and not super high carb. But am trying to think of this as a temporary phase after which I will settle down into a more balanced diet (which includes those medium GI things in moderation).

Off to check out Pinterest for inspiration…..

Veryflummoxed · 13/07/2016 18:11

L Boiled eggs, dressed leaves, olives
D sliced roast lamb courgettie with Parmesan
S can of diet lilt. I know it's not allowed but it did fill a need today.

SestraClone · 13/07/2016 18:27

Tits, definitely check out the recipe thread but maybe also get a book such as The Real Meal revolution or Lean in 15? I hardly ever eat the same foods twice in a 2 week period, apart from maybe snacks which are becoming fewer now that ketosis has well and truly kicked in.

No breakfast today, just a apple & cinnamon tea with a teaspoon of coconut oil (flavourless)

Had a picnic for lunch - chicken drumsticks, salad, cold sausage, cheese.

Dinner is lamb chops and fried cabbage

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/07/2016 19:14

Thanks for all the advice. I have taken it all on board and I'll browse Pinterest and get a few recipe books when I get paid. I'm off to have a look at the recipe thread.

SestraClone · 13/07/2016 19:17

Tits, there a few free recipes on the Real Meal Revolution website here

SestraClone · 13/07/2016 19:17

I have also made a lot of recipes from here www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2014/08/low-carb-lasagna-meatballs-recipe.html

WilfSell · 13/07/2016 20:37

Hi all.

I've been away at that London. Bit more tricky eating on the go. Have resorted to nuts when desperate.

Comedy moment of the trip was in Pret, when I asked for an Americano with cream. "With CREAM...?" Said the helpful skinny lady, somewhat incredulously. I held my nerve, looked her in the eye and said "yeeeeeeees".

She then put a huge pile of whipped cream on it, and I asked for a lid. You can imagine the carnage.

And last night in my hotel, I asked for a steak and vegetables with no potatoes. I thought Paulina was going to call an ambulance, she was so insistent that I must have some bread or just a small portion?

It seems that I was wrong about everyone living on air, rudeness and quinoa down south...

Anyhow, well done all the KOKOers. I agree about finding a way to make it a lifestyle. Any tips on how not to go back to the carb/blubber fest welcome.

BabsUnited · 13/07/2016 21:53

Made celeriac and courgette rostis for dinner, they were gorgeous! Even the dh liked. Grated one clove of garlic in there and mixed in an egg and loads of salt and pepper. Made 4 patties, out of a quarter of a celeriac and about a third of a courgette

B: smoked salmon scrambled eggs (in butter and coconut oil)
L: two Edam slices, salad with chicken, mozzarella, lettuce cucumber and olive oil dressing
D: rostis with 3 chicken drumsticks roasted and Spring greens with butter

What are the coconut yogurts being mentioned?

nekobus · 13/07/2016 22:15

Ooh babs those rostis sound lovely, and I have celeriac and courgette to use up!

Stick with it, Tits! I love Pinterest for ideas and also just google low carb x whenever I'm stuck, this weekend I found some nice courgetti salad recipes and then that led to a spirilised cucumber Greek salad recipe which I'm trying next. Took a big courgetti calabrese salad to a BBQ at weekend and it got polished off!

I'm back on track this week but can feel the extra pound(s) I put on in my clothes as jeans a bit tight... Have managed 2 exercise classes this week though, and running after the kids helps too! I'm doing my best to listen to my body and only eat when hungry.

Today:
B - 2 hb eggs and butter
L - 3 babybel, little almond butter pouch
D - LC sausages, broccoli, delouis mayo
S - coffee and cream, olives

Veryflummoxed · 14/07/2016 07:41

Good morning all.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone who's could add me to the sheet please. I think Wombat usually does it but is away at the moment.

Thanks
