Morning all!

Not a good day for me. Have had a horrible night's sleep (i.e. hardly any) because I have a really nasty cold, which is making breathing difficult.

Have a full-on day at work to look forward to as well, which is nice.

Anyway, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you all

Just two more weeks to go, so let's keep this last fortnight a strict one.

Well Uber camp was not a success, entirely my own fault. I've been slightly lurgified and pre-menstrual (although I'm now really late, I don't know what's going on with my body - not pregnant tho!) and while I've been OK for most of the day, the evenings were distinctly off-piste. I had wine at a work do even tho I'm pretty sure alcohol is behind this long stall. And the last two nights I had strong cravings for sweet/comforting foods and ending up making these monstrously delicious mousse things out of melted 90% Lindt, marscapone, and hazelnut butter. They were amazing and really hit the spot (and not dissimilar to the 'fat bombs' some US Keto sites talk about) but definitely not dairy or nut-free! Also haven't feel up to the gym for three days now. And I still feel like I'm not getting enough fibre despite eating plenty of veg and taking Lepicol.

I think restricting myself more was a mistake as I'm noticing some old patterns come back in around beating myself up and wanting to rebel against the 'diet' which were totally absent previously. I think I'm going to go back to absolute basics and focus on listening to my body and eating when I'm hungry. Hoping to get back to that free non-diet feeling and that this was just a blip.

Just had a yummy shake made of almond milk, flaxseed, a few frozen berries, spinach, organic sugar- and sweetener-free protein powder, and hazelnut butter, with vanilla. A few carbs I know but also lots of fibre which I'm hoping will help. And off to a physio/gym class in a bit. KOKO!

Morning all. Back from long weekend away and I stayed the same Grin I ate a lot of salads and meat and drank loads of water as well as the alcohol....

Anyway I have another 3 stone or so I want to lose so back to it...

Veryflummoxed · 14/07/2016 08:57

FlowersBetty. KOKO Maggie I've at least three more stone to lose as well. An NSV this morning though. Tried on an outfit I thought would go nowhere near me and if fit. Smile

Thank you to everyone who has posted suggestions for party food. It's gonna be awesome. I promise to take photos!

Tits, maybe I'm in the minority here, but if I really, really want something, I eat it. What I do is, I decide where I'm going to find the best slice of cake that exists, I plan a nice little afternoon trip there and I have a bit of cake. Nice and slowly and savour every tiny bite, preferably sharing it with someone. And enjoy it. With no guilt. And then back to the healthy eating plan. Because I do truly believe low carb is healthier. But I need a bit of a break every now and then. With careful super LCHF meal planning after a sugary indulgence, you can avoid it sending you completely off the wagon. The other aspect is that being too strict can have a paradoxical effect and make you binge. I am of the opinion that a regular celebratory meal can help to stay on track. As long as it's controlled. Only a week and a half left of boot camp, maybe you could plan a nice treat for after?

bettyblueeyes can you share that recipe please, sounds fab! There's a physiological explanation for why you eat more in the evenings when on a diet: if you don't eat a large breakfast, your ghrelin (hunger hormone) levels rise solidly throughout the day and continue to rise even after you eventually eat lunch, making you hungrier and hungrier throughout the day. If you eat a big breakfast however, the levels drop and stay low all day, curbing your appetite. Breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord, supper like a pauper. It just takes one day to make the switch in my experience. If you skip dinner, then you will wake up hungry, and have a big, high fat, filling breakfast. It really is true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day; and that people who eat breakfast eat less overall than people who don't.

I have my first period since the baby was born and feel like I am dying! Fell headfirst into a watermelon last night. Must drink more water. I really do not feel like doing a workout today but am due to start level 3 of Jillian Michaels Shred (anyone else shredding?) Argh. I'm going to take it easy for a few days I think.

Well done on your outfit flummoxed. That's are great feeling!

KOKO everyone

BabsUnited · 14/07/2016 10:51

I tentatively weighed myself this morning, and am super chuffed to report that I've lost a whopping 5lbs since Monday morning!!!! Probably mostly water but what the hell, I'm taking it. So motivating! the carb flu has passed and i'm feeing great. Thanks for the guidance everyone Smile

GBBO15 · 14/07/2016 11:10

Well done Babs!
I think my carb flu passing too, not dared weigh myself yet though..

flyright · 14/07/2016 17:39

by the way someone asked upthread about coconut yogurts - they're called Coyo and I get them from Waitrose - dairy free, no added sugar - 4g of carb

the vanilla one is lovely - although they sometimes separate out and need a bit of stirring so don't always look that appetising

BIWI · 14/07/2016 17:48

... and they're hideously expensive! (Although very gorgeous)

bettyblueeyes83 · 14/07/2016 20:33

Well done babs that's brilliant.

Erm doc did you mean my 'mousse' recipe? Blush I melted two squares of 90% Lindt in the microwave, let it cool a bit and mixed it with a spoon of marscapone and a spoon of hazelnut butter...not really a recipe!
So yummy tho Grin. Don't worry I have big breakfasts! I think it was more a psychological craving?

Much more back on track today, am over lurgy, back in gym, period finally arrived, and best of all my lovely full non-diet feeling is back, I didn't need lunch until 3pm after my breakfast shake thing and didn't eat boiled egg I took as snack (did just eat a piece of cheese while making dinner though, damn this habit).

B: almond milk shake as below
L: weird lunch made of leftover coleslaw mixed with shredded cheese, and a couple of olives and cherry toms
D: homemade beef burgers with celeriac chips and broccoli and mushrooms fried in butter
S: piece of cheese so far...marscapone and choc all gone so no chance of mousse today!

BabsUnited · 14/07/2016 21:08

How bad do we think these are? Gagging for some type of pudding

Week 9 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - our last two weeks!
BabsUnited · 14/07/2016 21:13

B: Greek you and strawberries, chicken slices
L: two chicken drumsticks, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, Mayo, avocado, olive oil
D: lamb chops fried in oil and butter, broccoli, courgette both fried in garlic and the butter/oil

And a gin and tonic Wink

BabsUnited · 14/07/2016 21:15

Betty how do you make celeriac chips? Do you boil or steam them then grill/oven? I have 3/4 of a celeriac to use!

bettyblueeyes83 · 14/07/2016 21:23

I followed the recipe in Ubercamp on the spreadsheet, which I think is the same as the BBC one. They are good!

Grrr have just had a carb lies rage moment! I forgot I also had a coffee today - an Americano which I got iced with coconut milk (which should be high fat, lowish carb and sugar, right?). I thought this was going to be my great new alternative to having too much dairy, and then I added it to MFP and the carbs were much higher than I thought. So I checked Starbucks' coconut milk and find out it is a processed substitute 'coconut milk' that's full of sugar!

rebootedbody.com/starbucks-coconut-milk/

How bad is that?!

BabsUnited · 14/07/2016 21:33

That's so annoying Betty!!

IndianaJone · 14/07/2016 21:54

I can feel the rage betty!! Grin. I do know how you feel though as I've had similar moments of feeling pleased with myself and then MFP tells me not to be! Tomorrow is a new day!!

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/07/2016 09:34

My weight has been static for the last MONTH! I have been good in terms of carb count (and overall calories even tho I know I am not supposed to be paying attention to them). So….. and it pains me to say this….. I have nasty feeling it is to do with my massive intake of dairy. So don't want to cut that out - my favourite part of the woe……

BIWI · 15/07/2016 09:56

OK Notdeadyet - you know the drill - list out your meals for the last few days, as well as what you've been drinking, and let me see if I can help.

I have a chicken korma in the slow cooker that smells amazing. How long til teatime? Grin

GBBO15 · 15/07/2016 11:12

I know official weigh in not until Monday, but I've previously been weighing myself every Friday so had a sneaky check this morning, and lost 2lb since last Friday! I NEVER lose weight this easily. Hooray Smile

SestraClone · 15/07/2016 11:21

Well done GBBO :)
