Low-carb bootcamp

Week 8 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here

Looks, at last, as if we have a bit of sunshine - at least Darn Sarf.

A bit of a less fraught week for me, so it may even be possible that I hit the gym mid-week, which I haven't done for months.

I'm avoiding the scales this Bootcamp, but tried on a couple of dresses I bought a few weeks ago, which were a little on the tight side. One of them fits perfectly now, and the other one is almost there, so I know things are working. But I know that I've a way to go before I'm 'there'!

Hope those of you who are weighing have a good result today!

Here's to another successful week.

betty, it will be water weight and the refilling of glycogen. Or something like that! So not fat gain.

stillloving, hope things feel better for you now. I am planning on doing BC for a long time yet, not just the 10 weeks, so will be here afterwards.

Going to the cinema today = please let me be strong! Grin

Enjoy Rome mumofgirls
What's your strategy? I'm going in a couple of weeks.
I think low carbing will be hard so I'm wondering if a switch to low calorie would be better ? Accept there might be pasta but make it tomato based etc? Keep portions small? will be drinking so won't be completely low carb anyway. But maybe keeping the food still low carb would be better ? Plenty of Italian food that's not carby. Decisions decisions. Anyone any suggestions?

No, no, no, no! Don't do it that way!

Lots of lovely Italian food that doesn't involve carbs - fresh fish, lovely cured meats, lots of gorgeous prepared veg for antipasti, etc.

If you try and do it low calorie you'll be feeling really deprived - and hungry.

If you have to eat pasta, make sure it's only at one meal, and that you focus on being as low carb as you can for the rest of the day. But enjoy it!

Not posted in a while - just 1lb lost - so cross - was 3lbs down last Friday. I know my water intake has not been good - does this make a real difference? Still only 2lbs left and I will have lost 2 stone (started a week before Bootcamp). Wil KOKO. Thanks for the inspiration on here and the recipes.

I would agree with BIWI. Loads of yummy LC food in Italy. I think we often think Italian food is just pasta and pizza, but actual Italians that I know tend not to overdo that stuff. Parma ham etc. for prime. Secondis are all about steak with rocket and parmesan, buttery fish etc. Gorgeous cheeses to follow. It is really doable.

I feel your pain as think good pasta is one of life's great pleasures, but you will find plenty of good stuff to eat on menus if you decide to persist with BC.

Good luck!

thank you BIWI and notdeadyet - very helpful

I am quite happy to continue the low carb approach - I suppose I'm just aware that over the week there will be a few slips - it's a holiday after all - and I imagine pasta once or twice, maybe one icecream, maybe one pastry and with the wine I'm concerned it will add up to too many carbs, so it just becomes a high calorie week. I know calories don't matter when we're on track but when we're off it there's a danger of being neither one thing nor the other diet wise.

But I really do want to keep on track as best I can so I'm thinking if I allow myself one thing a day - pasta, icecream or whatever - and not a lot of it, just an enjoyable amount - then maybe things wont be too bad.

The day we get there and the day we leave I can be completely low carb so its 5 days. 5 things. Max. And who knows when I'm there I might not even fancy them - as you say there will be lots of very lovely other things to enjoy.

but I really dont want to put lots of weight on

Hi , 1lb off this week . If someone can stick 122 on the spreadsheet please , much appreciated.
3 lb away from target , leave next Thursday for holiday .
I'm the same as you fly , I'm just so pleased that I can fit back into lots of my clothes and am feeling just that bit better about myself I just can't let all this hard work be undone on holiday . At the same time I want to enjoy myself plus I know when I get a bit drunk I have a habit of thinking feck it bring on the crisps and chocolate!

Thanks BIWI, flyright. notdeadyet
Lots of useful tips.
Have not missed pasta but pizza is tempting. Love antipasti foods & veg. Drink lots of water while I'm there. Wine in moderation in the heat. Have had headache after having wine at home recently.
Will be back for weigh in next week.
KOKO
Enjoy your holiday for those also travelling

Hello,

Firstly well done everyone! Losing weight is so hard, and you're all getting great results.

I'd love to join (lord knows I fricking need some support) but I see you're all already in week 8. So, can I jump in and join you, is that not the done thing? Should I wait til the next one?

Am back in work in five weeks after maternity leave and really wanted to be back to my pre-baby weight by then, because maintaining is easier than losing and things will be hectic. Plus have such lovely work clothes that don't fit right now.

Am a fairly regular low carber but weight loss has been desperately slow after this baby (no 3) and am getting a bit fed up with it. I've been doing

You will be made very very welcome if you join in. Lots of lovely supportive people on this thread. Plus there will be an ongoing thread once Bootcamp is over. If you follow the link to the spreadsheet (BIWI's first post) it will take you to the spreadsheet. Lots of interesting info there plus the rules of Bootcamp.

Cool!!! Thanks everyone. Am feeling more positive already. Had a quick look at the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, which comes out a bit skew-ways on my phone but read through the rules etc which all sounds familiar. Can somebody add me please? Am 133.6 lbs and goal is 120lbs.

Am going to do the uber boot camp for the next three days. I'll let you know how I get on. It looks delish. So, what day is weigh day?

Holiday is BRILLIANT motivator! I'm having one last holiday at the beach the week before I go back to work, which is also driving the last final push.

13lbs in 5 weeks? Has anyone done that on this thread? I would be delighted with 10lbs off actually. Woop woop (hums "here comes the sun, little darling" Grin)

Hi guys. sneaks back in
I went on holiday and went completely off the carb rails. Gained 4kg back deservedly. Back on it. Onwards and downwards!

Evening everyone. I've updated the s/s

Welcome DoctorNova I've added you to the bottom of the sheet.
There have been some fantastic losses during bootcamp, however, it doesn't seem you have that much to lose so maybe you won't reach 13lbs off. Good luck Thanks

I am going on holiday on Fri so won't be around to do the spreadsheet. I hope someone else will step in and assist?
By the time I get back bc will be ending, but I will be back before the end and hope to see you all on the continuing chat thread.
I only have 1 holiday a year so my plan is to enjoy it. I will try my best with food but there will be plenty of alcohol Grin
When I get back, I will be right back on track.

BIWI Thanks for organising bc again and Stunt thanks for all your helpful advice.
Also thanks to everyone who stayed the course. I've enjoyed reading the posts and find you all very motivating.
See you when I get back Wine

Welcome Doctor :) weigh in day is Monday, when a new thread is started. Good luck with ubercamp!

Think I am going to have pork chops & cauli cheese for dinner. Resisted all the carbs at the cinema!

Have a lovely holiday Wombat thanks for all the adding me to the sheet.
sestraClone I wish I was having cauliflower cheese now. I'm not. I'm having sausages, swede mash, roast cauliflower and broccoli.

Breakfast was tuna mayo green leaves and celery spread with that whipped Philadelphia stuff, the olive one. I checked the carb in the shop and it was fine. Only after I'd eaten it I checked the ingredients and it's got sugar in so won't buy again.
