Just what I was thinking Mookbark. I love this'll else threads. I don't contribute much but I read everyday and I am positive it has kept me on track. Thank you everyone Flowers

PlayNice · 29/06/2016 18:52

Yay, well done Mookbark :). So glad you're finding it easy to get back into it. I'm finding Dr. Fung's stuff really motivational for low carbing! I think I'm going to do a week of ubercamp next week. Might make some spinach soup with double cream or something.

Today, I had eggs for breakfast, guacamole for lunch and lamb tagine over cauliflower cous cous with some Turkish yogurt. A few... Small spoonfuls of peanut butter as snacks Blush.

PlayNice · 29/06/2016 18:55

And thank you for the Diet Doctor tip, Nivea! I'm taking a look now. His recipes look really good (the strict ones only, of course. Not even looking at the liberal ones. Not me. Definitely not the waffles).

FantasyFanGirl · 29/06/2016 19:54

Well done Mookbark! I'm also finding this thread and generally reading about lc regularly really helpful for motivation and keeping on track! Had a decent day today, but need to try and do a bit of exercise as that has completely fallen by the wayside recently...

B - low carb 'bread', cheese and tomatoes
L - salad
D - lettuce leaf 'tacos'
S - peanut butter fat bombs

Does anyone know of any good lc friendly ready meals? I guess most ready meals have some hidden sugar in... I was looking at a spice mix for chilli but it had dextrose in so I used my own combination of cumin etc. I am not a fan of cooking and that is usually why I fail!

PlayNice · 29/06/2016 20:14

M&S have a few if you take a look in their ready meal section - I think they brought out some new ones this year. Or Tesco do zoodles and cauli rice, which are nice with just some steak, or chicken poached in the oven in chicken stock and lemon juice for 35 minutes.

Have you tried batch cooking? I batch cook LC lasagna, curries, tagines, chili, bolonaise etc so I can just defrost and dump over cauli rice most days. I need some new batch cooking ideas actually. Must check the recipe thread.

BIWI · 29/06/2016 20:40

Have a look at M&S new range Balanced for You. There's a steak bolognese with courgetti, a Thai red curry with courgetti and a chargrilled chicken with courgetti, all of which are pretty low carb, and actually very tasty (and filling - the portion size is generous)

Just popping back to say that the belly pork was lovely. I had two slices and was almost forcing myself to finish the second! I don't usually do that anymore, so made myself stop. But I was so sad I couldn't finish it. SadGrin

lasttimeround · 29/06/2016 20:58

Decent day
B- protein shake w soy milk and yoghurt
L- chicken and slim.noodles spinach
D-smoked mackerel w sour cream and celery

S- cheese, black coffee,herb tea

Still a bit of emotional eating but determined to nip it in ghetto bud.

nekobus · 29/06/2016 21:02

Evening all! Thanks for keeping updating the thread, I like reading all the stories good and bad as it really helps with keeping me going. I've been a bit quiet this week but still keeping on. Work is really crap at the moment so I'm struggling with mindless snacking (all LC but still...) as its all emotional eating - I am so not hungry!

Today:
B - hb eggs and butter, LC sausage
L - LC sausage, Mayo, cherry toms
D - roast gammon, cauli mash, broccoli
S - brie brie and more brie Blush, slice Parma ham, babybel, almonds, gin&slim&soda

PlayNice · 29/06/2016 21:21

Finishing 3/6 of Fung's Aetiology of Obesity, and I am developing quiittee the crush.

flyright · 29/06/2016 21:53

BIWI I had that M and S Thai red curry today. Delicious!

bettyblueeyes83 · 29/06/2016 22:12

Just checking in with my food. I love reading the thread too, it keeps me on track.

B: bacon and scrambled eggs, coffee with cream
L: prosciutto and mozzarella salad
D: meatballs in tomato sauce topped with cheddar, tender stem broccoli
S: HB egg, yoghurt/cream with blueberries, macadamias and vanilla, and I did have a tea with milk in a meeting

MaryThorne · 29/06/2016 23:46

Off to look for the Dr Fung Facebook group - I am quite the fan too! Grin

StuntNun · 30/06/2016 06:38

Fantasy it's worth a bit of hunting around in the ready meals as you can reduce the carb counts of some quite easily. We buy a chicken thigh, chorizo and new potato ready meal and only the kids eat the potatoes. Or Tesco do a slow-cooked pork belly with apple sauce where the sauce is separate so you can leave it out entirely or just use a tiny amount.

reader77 · 30/06/2016 07:18

Looking good Fliss!

Xoticdreamz · 30/06/2016 07:30

Woo hoo Fliss!
My appetite has really diminished . I have actually felt so proud of myself ignoring all the various treats on the table at work for this long .
Holiday countdown on so I must make an effort to go to the gym .
I am now 3 lb away from what I set as my target at the start with an 11lb loss.
I rewarded myself yesterday with something I didn't ever think I was brave enough to do ... Botox in my 11's .
Can't see any difference yet obv but I feel I will be at target before I go on holiday and that's what my prize was Blush

BIWI · 30/06/2016 07:35

Wow! Some great results here!

I've had really bad tonsillitis this week, the silver lining to which was that I fasted on Monday, Tuesday and the first part of yesterday (through a combination of lack of appetite and inability to swallow) and have lost 3lb since Monday. I'm hoping that the fasting will have helped any insulin resistance (as set out in the Obesity Code) and that the loss doesn't disappear now I feel a bit more like eating again.
I'm hoping to feel well enough to go on holiday tomorrow - it was a bit doubtful earlier in the week!!

eleven59 · 30/06/2016 10:14

Two hardboiled eggs and two babybels kept me going for four hours of downhill biking yesterday. Amazing! I used to have to eat sugar laden energy bar every couple of hours or so.

MaryThorne · 30/06/2016 10:38

eleven59 that's incredible! I'm still amazed at how this WOE means all those cravings for sugary, carby junk disappear.

PlayNice · 30/06/2016 10:46

I know! If I wasnt the world's biggest people pleaser, this diet would be so easy.

I must admit, I find Fung's stuff about insulin resistance and fasting very compelling. I still have six (5 and a half) weeks left on this diet, and I'm thinking I might add in IF for my last 4 weeks, as I will hopefully be back beneath 10 stone then and will probably need a bit of an extra kick to get down to where I'd like to be.

MaryThorne · 30/06/2016 10:55

Playnice I'd say to go for it. I've found, being fat-adapted that IF has been surprisingly easy to do. A couple of days last week I did 24 hour fasts, so didn't have breakfast and lunch, only dinner and I didn't feel any more hungry at dinner time than I would have if I hadn't been fasting.

PlayNice · 30/06/2016 11:11

Yeah, I do find myself able to go for weirdly long periods without food, during the daytime especially. I get hungry at night, but I haven't eaten yet today and I don't feel especially hungry.

On the subject of Fung - he says a lot of interesting stuff about the benefits of fermented foods on insulin levels and then either he says, or I read that fermented vegetables are all low carb because the fermentation process feeds on the sugar. Any official word on whether fermented red onions are okay for BC? I absolutely love them.

NotdeadyetBOING · 30/06/2016 11:12

The idea of IF fills me with utter horror. Does that mean I am not fat adapted or just a pig?
