Week 4 - Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp: are you KOKO?!

BIWI · 06/06/2016 07:40

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Doom Fabulousness

Week 3 might not have been kind to you - and here's the warning that week 4 might be the same Sad

But hopefully by now you're starting to adjust to low carbing, and should be feeling some of the other benefits, even if the scales are resolutely ignoring you!

If you're struggling, come here and tell us about it. Don't self-sabotage by thinking 'oh fuck it' and diving into the carbs!

I've also resisted all sweet treats In the office Shockdidn't been fancy it!!!

BursarsFrogs · 10/06/2016 19:03

How scary sayrra, I hope your DP is okay today.

My carby twatness showed on the scales this morning, and also seems to have made hunger and sugar cravings much worse. The urge to just go "fuck it!" has been very strong!

Today's foods for me:
B: FF Total with milled linseed
L: fried halloumi, baby kale salad and cherry tomatoes
S: a few slices of salami and four pieces of 85% chocolate
D: ovenbaked salmon and buttery green beans

Possibly a glass or two of wine too. It'll be a bloody miracle if I end up with a loss this week. (But I'm still bulimia episode free and very pleased about it!)

SayrraT · 10/06/2016 19:05

Thank you everyone for your kind words and flowers, I really appreciate them.

cider there is no way of finding out but I assume that the DVLA will treat it as a siezure.

I am now really angry because OH has just told me that his boss wants a meeting on Monday (nothing to do with crash apparently) to talk about his progress. He's only been there a year, I think they are trying to work out how to get rid of him.

If there were any concerns about his progress/results then why wait until he blacks out and crashes to bring them up. I think that's the worst time!

On the other hand, my work have organised additional support staff to cover my work and have told me to work at home if necessary!

Anyway, I'm going to try and forget about it and enjoy my weekend in London. Don't really feel like it though but OH wouldn't let me cancel!

IndianaJone · 10/06/2016 19:07

I'm so behind with this thread! Sorry to hear about the situation with your husband Sayra. It sounds so stressful and worrying.

Wintersea - I can relate! My scales showed I was 2lbs down. I shifted a little bit and no, I'm 1lb up. Wanted to throw the treacherous thing across the room.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 10/06/2016 19:14

Can anyone advise..? I have a lovely lchf cook book from the library and it has a recipe for a bread type dish. It uses 100g of almond flour, 1 egg and melted butter. You microwave it to cook it and i though it might be nice (maybe fried in bacon fat like fried bread) and served with bacon as a sunday brunch type meal. My ground almonds have 6.9gs per 100g. If i was careful with my carb consumption the rest of the day would it be ok? I imagine it would be very filling and i could manage with a salad for tea.

princessconsuelabannahammock · 10/06/2016 19:16

Sayrra - go to London and have a fab time any bad news that may (hopefully not) come will still be there after your break. Flowers

SayrraT · 10/06/2016 19:18

You are right princess I'm on the stansted express and the minute I meet my friend I will forget all about it!

NotdeadyetBOING · 10/06/2016 19:36

Belated Flowers to Sayrra. Hope you have arrived and are having a ball (in a low carb way so you don't get in trouble with BIWI…).

My food today:

B - creamy coffee, 2 eggs fried in coconut oil
L - beef burger with courgette - plus green salad and mayo
D - chicken & chorizo stew with cabbage. Followed by piece of cheddar
Snacks - 3 baby bel minis & an Atkins cookies & cream bar.

Also went to gym and felt slightly better on the energy front. I am also a big walker - think it is excellent exercise and stops the metabolism going to sleep.

saffynool · 10/06/2016 19:43

Today's plates of glory:

BPC and a small bag of pork scratchings
Lunch: Spinach leaves with avocado, cucumber and a poached egg, dressed with mayo and olive oil
Snack: Three slices of fried halloumi
Dinner: courgetti carbonara

Will probably have a couple of squares of dark choc tonight.

Feeling quite tired; should really do some work but can't be bothered Hmm. Think I will have an early night and thankfully nothing to do tomorrow morning so will have a nice lie in tomorrow as well.

KOKO everybody

granjinx · 10/06/2016 19:45

Unbelievable - no choc or anything remotely naughty for 5 weeks now - today's my birthday - had 1 square of Lindt Dark Choc and I enjoyed it but I truly didn't want to go crazy and eat more - 1 square was just right. Thanks BIWI and all bootcampers for keeping me on track.

regularbutpanickingabit · 10/06/2016 20:36

Notquite- that's amazing and totally inspirational!!! Congratulations!

nekobus · 10/06/2016 20:45

Flowers* Sayrra* and enjoy your London trip.

Today
B - 2 hb eggs with butter
L - picnic of cucumber, small bit of red pepper, avocado, dressing, hb egg, babybel, olives
D - courgetti with smoked salmon, asparagus in cream cheese, cream and lemon zest.
S - chunk of Brie, some of the kids LC bolognese sauce, small white wine

Easily drank my 3L as its been roasting here today.

Equiem89 · 10/06/2016 20:51

I managed my lovely bit of steak and shallots for dinner. Didn't feel queasy in the slightest :)

bettyblueeyes83 · 10/06/2016 20:57

Couldn't get potassium so have bought Metatone for leg cramps. Has 2g carbs per 5ml Hmm all from sucrose, which is unhelpful (especially as gave up sugar completely back in Jan) but don't mind if it stops the cramps!

B: FF Greek yog with cream and macadamias
L: omelette with bacon and cheese, Greek salad
D: salmon with bacon, cherry tomatoes, lemon and white wine sauce, steamed broccoli
S: roasted salted macadamias, olives with pimento and manchego, white wine spritzer made with fizzy water
Was full all am and had late lunch, them starving when I got in, hence snacking. Exercise was Pilates class and swimming.

Mookbark · 10/06/2016 20:58

Sayrra enjoy your weekend in London
gran happy birthday Flowers it's amazing how our taste buds change, isn't it? I hope you enjoyed your single square.

wombattoo · 10/06/2016 21:11

Sayrra Hope DH is feeling better. You've had so much on this past year Thanks
Gcal You have been such an inspiration on many bc threads. I'm sorry you are feeling so low and hope you feel better soon Thanks
gran Happy birthday Thanks
Sorry I can't recall the poster who is going away and having a birthday - but this is a long term way of eating. Enjoy a brief splurge but get right back on track.
My scales haven't moved more than a few pounds, but I have dropped a clothes size. It's like a miracle. Please don't obsess too much about a pound here or there - judge on how you feel and the fit of your clothes.
Have a good weekend all

Veryflummoxed · 10/06/2016 21:47

Notquite that's fantastic well done

-Gran happy birthday
Gcal

Veryflummoxed · 10/06/2016 21:56

Sorry posted to soon I was sending you FlowersGcal. Have a good weekend SayrraT. And to everyone else loving your posts and Flowersto everyone whether struggling or doing well.

I brought a dress at the beginning of bc it made me look like an overstuffed sausage. Today I tried it on and I looked like a well stuffed sausage so definitely some improvement there.

Food for today

Brunch. Left overs (dh always cooks massive amounts that keep me going for days). Asparagus soup with cream and the last bit of curried lamb.

Dinner. Roast brisket. Mashed celeriac. Roast swede. Purple sprouting and spinach. Jus from the meat and butter on the veg.

Water a little down again. Blush

Veryflummoxed · 10/06/2016 21:57

Oh and ff yogurt for snack.

margaritasbythesea · 10/06/2016 22:11

Evening all.

Gcal - you are such a helpful and supportive bootcamper that if the whoosh fairy comes near me I am going to send her to you.

Sayrra I hope you have a great weekend and that you dhs meeting is better than you think. Sorry you're having a stressful time.

I did ok on my coach journey. I got to the hotel to find there was a prebooked dinner. Managed to eat no potatoes and ordered crackers and cheese for pudding intending to eat only the cheese but ate one cracker. I'm not sure why as I didn't want it but Ifelt that everyone was looking at me after the potatoes and didn't want to invite comment. Totally weak arsed. Also had four cherries but that was because i really wanted them.

wombattoo · 10/06/2016 22:35

margaritas Well done on your restraint. Every small victory is a win. (or vice versa)

I meant to say earlier that I have drunk more water on this bc than any other bc and I have had less cravings than ever. It can be a struggle but worth persevering with

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 11/06/2016 04:25

Notquite you are my hero! 14 stone is my goal, though I have a much higher starting weight Blush

Flowers to Gcal and Sayrra

stilllovingmysleep · 11/06/2016 07:22

Margarita well done on doing OK on your coach trip & don't stress about the cracker. Smile

wombatoo thanks for pointing that out about the water.

Can I scream? AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH one more day when the scales are up & down with the same old pound. This has been going on throughout weeks 3 & 4. Up one pound, half one pound. I've started my day today with black coffee (rather than adding milk) as milk wasI noticedone thing that was creeping back in a bit.

I'll be tightening things up a bit here for the next week (fewer nuts/less cheese/higher quantities of fat/more water/fewer berries/no milk in coffee) and I'll report back to let you know if it has an effect. Overallsince MarchI have consistently & solidly lost weight so it's not as if it's not working, it's just VERY slow.

BIWI · 11/06/2016 08:23

But it's still A LOSS!

CiderwithBuda · 11/06/2016 08:43

Notquite - well done! That is brilliant. I'm desperate to get to 14 stone. Haven't been there for a few years.

Flowers to Sayrra, Gcal and anyone else who is struggling with things. Happy birthday Gran. Well done on birthday restraint!

I had wine last night. Really enjoyed it. Back on wagon now though. I got the munchies later but just had a couple of Babybels and some hazelnuts in raw chocolate. Figured my night off would be better Friday night rather than tonight or tomorrow as gives me a chance to get back into it before weigh in!

I roughly worked out my carbs for yesterday mid afternoon on MFP and it was 40g. Way too high. It was very rough as hadn't weighed anything but I'm obv had too many things that are just that bit too high and cumulatively it's not good.

So I'm going to be much stricter on my veg and not have yoghurt or berries at all.

Yesterday's food -

B - Greek style yoghurt with blueberries and a sprinkle of flaked almonds
L - poached salmon, avocado and salad
S - 2 Brazil nuts
D - chicken fajitas, green 'couscous', sour cream, grated cheese and a spoonful of refried beans
Red wine
2 Babybels and some hazelnuts in raw chocolate
