Morning all! I'm excited to see what the scales are telling everyone this week - it sounds like we've had some great results so far!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Here's to another successful week

I do some low carb meals for everyone and some like roasts where I do roast potatoes and Yorkshires but just don't have them myself. The only reliable way to get veg into my toddler is baked beans so I tend to serve them with all sorts of meals! My 5yo was the same but outgrew it and is great with veg now - but he adores corn on the cob so I often do that as an extra for him. Neither child will eat omelette or salad. Yesterday the 5yo really wanted pizza and no way would he eat the cauliflower crust! So I compromise. Sometimes it's as easy as I have extra salad in place of carbs, sometimes I've rigged up more elaborate and time consuming options to suit everyone!

I have surgery on Tuesday though and dh will be in charge of catering for a couple of weeks, along with all other household chores and childcare so I won't be expecting imaginative banquets!

MaryThorne · 29/05/2016 10:36

BIWI I do agree with you but unfortunately DH is not receptive to the idea. I may attempt to move towards low carb for him and DS by stealth! Smile

Iamdobby63 · 29/05/2016 10:46

Interesting link BIWI especially the comparison with the EcoAtkins and Low carb vegan diet re blood lipids and blood pressure.

SoMuchToBits · 29/05/2016 11:00

I'm mostly doing the same meals for ds as for me, but adding extra carbs for him. E.g roast meat and veg for me but with potatoes for him, or salad for me but with a slice of bread for him. Fortunately he likes most things, so is happy to eat all the low carb things I serve up!

It was an interesting experience drinking a couple of glasses of wine last night. It went to my head quite quickly, and I didn't want any more, which is unlike me! This morning I have a bit of a headache, and the worst thing is my joints all ache, especially my feet. I could hardly walk when I first got out of bed and felt about 90! I didn't even enjoy the wine that much either. I think low carbing may have finally done for my wine drinking!

Pengweng · 29/05/2016 11:09

Mook I think I will have to hide packs of butter in my room and secretly eat them!! Haha. It's a relatively new thing for her and she is very enthusiastic about it so I don't want to piss on her parade but the only thing we can both eat are (certain) veggies. Meals will be fun!! I have an aubergine bake planned with chickpea filling her her and minced beef for me, plus some courgetti pasta with pesto and that's all I have come up with. Maybe a soup of some kind would be ok. I think I will struggle with getting enough fat but will just try and koko. Grin

Pengweng · 29/05/2016 11:12

Oh and thank you to whom ever posted the butter chicken recipe! It was bloody delicious and very filling with some cauli rice (i keep a big tub in the freezer and then just spoon some out when needed). Was very saucy but i think i might have added extra cream. Dh did eat the rest of the sauce with leftover rice though so nothing wasted.

CiderwithBuda · 29/05/2016 11:21

Morning all. Love the friendliness and support on these threads. You are all fab.

You do chat a lot though! Grin

Food yesterday

B - scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes and feta
L - wasn't really hungry (shock horror never happens!) and picked from fridge - had a cold lamb steak left over from BBQ, a slice of cheese and a couple of spoonfuls of cream
S slice of cheese
D steak, large flat mushroom baked with butter and a slice of blue cheese, courgetti and asparagus fried in butter. Was delicious.
S - 3 strawberries with extra thick double cream

A dairy heavy day. And I've just had strawberries and cream for breakfast. Cutting way back on the dairy this week. And not buying the yummy extra thick double cream. It's too nice!

And I know strawberries are not officially allowed on Bootcamp but it was a reward for not having wine with my steak! Was very tempted last night. But resisted.

As for cooking the same meals for the family - sometimes that works but I usually just have a different side to DH and DS. Courgetti instead of pasta, cauli rice or cauli mash instead of rice or potato. Trying to persuade DH to do this with me but no joy yet. DS is a bit of a nightmare with veg - tomato ketchup is a vegetable in our house!

Thankfully DH does most of the cooking and doesn't mind it being complicated. Th other night he did 3 versions of fried rice!

StinkyPetra - welcome and bloody well done on your loss. That is amazing and encouraging. I've about th same amount of weight to lose in total as you. 20lbs in 8 weeks would be fantastic.

I'm another wannabe C25Ker. Got to 7 weeks in to the programme a few years ago but my knees didn't like it. Really want to start again. The loop I was doing was on concrete which didn't help but I've now found a lovely place to run that is not on concrete so I'm hoping to start again. Also have orthotics in my trainers so hoping that will help too.

I might try tomorrow and see how I go.

Titsalinabumsquash · 29/05/2016 11:38

Did I see someone post a BBQ sauce on here! I can't find it now but I have ribs that need saucing.

Wintersea · 29/05/2016 11:47

Just checked in to say hello all... Good on all you park runner/couch25ers! I've tried couch to 5 a couple of times but my dodgy knees failed me then I got plantar f. Like someone up thread (sorry - realise I need a notepad and pen and take notes when I catch up on chat so I know who said what!)
Meal last night was fab though I did succumb to a couple of glasses of wine (which did go to my head really quickly like someone else said - about themselves, not me Grin
Got to be back on track next few days....
Bacon egg brunch and black coffee this an
Steak and salad this eve
Hv a lovely Sunday all!

CiderwithBuda · 29/05/2016 11:51

Thanks for that link Biwi. It was interesting. It did seem to suggest that while low carb and using vegetable sources of fats lowered risks for heart disease and type 2 diabetes, low carb and animal fats and proteins didn't help heart health and prevent diabetes. I must admit that I am concerned about too much animal fats and proteins in the long term so while I will KOKO with Bootcamp I think I will try to reduce the animal fats and concentrate on vegetable sources.

However I do think that even a diet higher in animal fats and proteins is way healthier than a diet high in white crappy carbs and sugar.

wombattoo · 29/05/2016 14:06

Good afternoon everyone.
Welcome StinkyPetra Your weight loss is amazing.
I'm writing off yesterday and back on track today

wombattoo · 29/05/2016 14:09

Notdeadyet I have added your name to the spreadsheet. You can enter your weight in the relevant column.

ReggaeShark · 29/05/2016 14:09

Am wondering what vegetable sources of fats are, apart from olive oil?

margaritasbythesea · 29/05/2016 14:36

Coconut oil? Haven't tried it but it is very popular right now.

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 29/05/2016 15:44

Weighed myself this morning and I'm exactly the same as Monday Sad
No cheats, followed all the rules... Damnit!

PlayNice · 29/05/2016 15:50

Avocado?

reader77 · 29/05/2016 15:59

Me too Doing. I will be so happy if I get just one pound lower this week!

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 29/05/2016 16:09

reader I'm clinging to the hope that I'll wake up tomorrow and 5lbs will have melted off magically!

BursarsFrogs · 29/05/2016 16:12

I bought some coconut oil and unsalted butter yesterday, and had my first ever BPC this morning. It wasn't horrible, like I was scared it might be, but I'm not sure it's a new favourite really. I'll need to try it some more and see if it grows on me.

Sunday lunch today as sea bass, cauliflower mash and a tomato. Very tasty. I don't have a food processor, so can't make cauliflower rice (unless someone knows how to make it without), but I do like it mashed with some butter. :)

Week 2: Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - come and weigh-in!
nekobus · 29/05/2016 16:41

Bursar I do cauli rice by grating it on a cheese grater. Works fine for me, although there's a little more waste (bigger bits but you could save for another recipe)
I usually fry it in some coconut oil to cook.

BursarsFrogs · 29/05/2016 16:47

Oooh, thanks nekobus, I had never thought of that! Must try it now. :)

reader77 · 29/05/2016 17:17

Hopefully Doing!

Thanks Biwi, some very useful tweaks and kicks there. I've been really good at avoiding nuts but I think dairy might be stalking me slightly.

Is it weird to actually enjoy eating fats? I really like it Blush

WanHeda · 29/05/2016 17:18

I just use a cheese garter too!

Thank you to whoever posted the curry sauce by Jamie Oliver, we are about to have it for tea and it smells amazing! Have added chicken & mushrooms, will serve with cauli rice.

WanHeda · 29/05/2016 17:19

cheese grater, not a garter Blush
