Ask anything you want here!

Hopefully between me and some of the other experienced Bootcampers we can answer your questions.

Thanks BIWI, I only ever use them for savoury items and find them quite filling and useful for 'regularity' Blush

DoingItForMyselfAtLast · 16/05/2016 18:54

Thanks BIWI.

You're like the ruddy oracle!

I love (homemade) coleslaw but expected it to be too carby. However I see that it appears in the Uber camp recipes section. Can you explain how it's ok please. Thanks.

FlipDoodle Spinach is very high in vit c (and iron too), you could make some sort of smoothie with it (and maybe some avocado and coconut oil... Yum) and take the iron tablets with that?

Eva50 · 16/05/2016 19:02

Thank you.

flipdoodle · 16/05/2016 19:06

I'm not sure I'm ready for green savoury smoothies, I'm not very keen on the sweet fruity ones Grin. I don't think vit C is absolutely essential, it's just advised and a habit I've got into. I might pick up some tablets though and take one just before the liquid supplement. Can't do any harm :) Thanks :)

flipdoodle I had to take iron pills for ages, I never had orange juice with them because I hate it. I think broccoli has more vitamin c than oranges anyway

BIWI · 16/05/2016 19:15

Very flummoxed - because it's actually a relatively small amount of carrot, and because it uses shallot instead of onion. There's no added sugar (which you often get with shop-bought ones), and because I weighed all the ingredients and worked out the carb content!!!

Excellent thank you BIWISmile

Just place marking

SoggyBottoms · 16/05/2016 19:35

Has anyone got any tips for avoiding nausea? I've been low carbing for a couple of weeks now and find that omelettes in butter etc are too rich for me and (especially at breakfast) make me feel really sick...

SoggyBottoms · 16/05/2016 19:41

Meant to say - not just omlelettes but many of the things that are sufficiently high in fat seem to be so rich they cause me to feel sick. Any ideas?

BIWI · 16/05/2016 20:01

Well we can't have that, can we?! Grin

Are you eating fattier cuts of meat/fish? That might be another way to get more fat.

Maybe just cut back a little until you get used to it. It might also help you to make sure you're drinking plenty of water with your food (as you need to be doing this anyway)

Iamdobby63 · 16/05/2016 20:29

Avocado and olives are another good way of increasing fat in your diet.

stilllovingmysleep · 16/05/2016 20:43

Soggy bottoms sorry to hear that you feel nauseous. How about some plain mozzarella and cucumber pieces for breakfast? Sometimes that's all I can stomach.

stilllovingmysleep · 16/05/2016 20:45

Question: what supplements / vitamins do you take during LC (if any)?

wombattoo · 16/05/2016 20:52

still - I don't take any as I try eat plenty of veg. I tried magnesium on the last bc because I read it helped with sleep and constipation. I tried it for 3 months but no change so I stopped them.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 16/05/2016 21:56

Oi BIWI can I Nutribullet?
I like avo and spinach with Almond milk
That okay d'you think??

stilllovingmysleep · 16/05/2016 22:02

What's nutribullet olivia?Confused sounds dangerous!
Avocado spinach and almond milk (unsweetened) are all ok.

Titsalinabumsquash · 17/05/2016 07:14

If you're experiencing hunger after/between meals on this woe, would you suggest more fat or just more food in general? Bigger portions maybe?

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 17/05/2016 08:39

Its a blender, stillloving Grin
Olivia, i like them with a spoonful of coconut oil too

BIWI · 17/05/2016 08:54

If you're still hungry:

  • first thing is eat! As long as it's low carb. This way of eating (WOE) isn't about deprivation. As you adjust to being low carb, just eat till you're satisfied. (Note: not carte blanche to stuff your face!)
  • once you're more used to low carbing, and you're fat-adapted, which should be after the first couple of weeks, then hunger between meals often means you're not eating enough fat.

Olivia I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work - all are low carb and good low carb foods.

How does this WOE work? I'd like to lose as much as I can before my hol in 29 days! Thanks all.
