Welcome everyone!

We have around 130 people signed up this time, so it's going to be a busy and fast-moving thread.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your weight.

The lovely Sayrra manages the spreadsheet. Please don't mess with it! Just enter your weight and leave all the other columns/rows alone!

I'll start a questions thread to run along side this chat thread, so that you can post stuff there in the knowledge that your question will definitely be seen. (I can't promise to get to your questions immediately, but I will read and answer them)

And please, please, please - no matter how fast-moving the thread is, please read the whole thing and don't just post your own thing. You'll miss a lot of valuable stuff that way, and it also presumes that I (and other posters) are happy to keep repeating stuff.

But above all, very good luck everyone!

Those muffins look great BIWI - very useful for when travelling. What temperature do you put them in at?

Well, I am doing ok, quite in the swing of LC eating, as I started 3 weeks before Bootcamp. I haven't lost much weight yet (3lb in the first 3 weeks), despite sticking to it very well, except for my milk in cups of tea, which I have now replaced completely with cream.

BIWI has advised to cut down on dairy and eat more fatty meat. So I had some mini steakburgers last night, fried in butter, with mayo on top. I'm trying now only to have cream in my tea (and not use it otherwise) and cut out cheese. Cutting out cheese is the hard bit though, as it's my favourite food!

I am noticing though that I feel MUCH BETTER for the LC WOE. I feel less bloated, skin looks a bit better, and I was suffering a bit from anxiety and depression. That is so much better - I'm not now having the terrible mood swings I was having, and I feel much calmer. I've also not been tearful at all recently. And my arthritis seems a bit better (I'm 54, so a bit of an old croc!).

The other thing is alcohol. I'm going to be honest here, and say that before I started LCing I was drinking far too much several glasses of wine every night. I had previously tried to cut down/stop drinking, but only ever managed a few days, and was chewing my arm off with cravings every evening. When I started LCing, I still craved wine a bit for the first week or so, but the cravings were much less than before. And now I'm not even thinking about wine most of the time. BIWI, my liver thanks you! Smile

CiderwithBuda · 21/05/2016 10:51

Muffins in the oven as we speak. Ive put them in at 180. I think your muffin cases must b smaller than mine Biwi as I didn't get twelve and even used an extra egg.

Cathemeral - def better in a group. Th support on here is phenomenal.

SoMuch - same here with the wine. It's always my downfall. At 52 I have finally worked out that I can't drink the amount of wine I was drinking and lose weight. Duh.

stilllovingmysleep · 21/05/2016 12:05

Thanks everyone for the accountability and group support: makes all the difference! I'm also a daily weigher (Blush) and have so far lost 1 kilo and 200 Gr from Monday which is more than 2 pounds so I'm very very pleased!

For those who want breakfast ideas, here's the lovely easy breakfast I had today as a break from eggs.

stilllovingmysleep · 21/05/2016 12:05

(The cheese is goats cheese)

CiderwithBuda · 21/05/2016 12:27

Messed up the muffins. Overlooked them a bit and they also stuck to the cases. Bah.

Oh well.

CathemeralChild · 21/05/2016 12:30

Is that red pepper? And courgette or cucumber?

CathemeralChild · 21/05/2016 12:31

Just lick them out the cases Buda.

stilllovingmysleep · 21/05/2016 12:39

Cathemeral do you mean my breakfast? Smoked salmon / cucumber / goats cheese

BIWI · 21/05/2016 13:07

I made some more this just now, but did them slightly differently (and definitely needed more egg than the last time, for some reason Hmm

So today's were:

pack diced chorizo (of half of the packs that come in two halves, IYSWIM)
one onion, diced
one orange pepper, diced
one red chilli, seeds removed
two cloves garlic, crushed
grated cheddar
salt, pepper and oregano
7 eggs
olive oil

In a frying pan, fry the chorizo and all the veg in olive oil until they're softened, and the fat has run from the chorizo, season with salt, black pepper and dried oregano.

Spoon this into your muffin cases, and then add a generous dollop of grated cheese (probably a heaped teaspoon or two - I did it by eye)

Whisk your eggs, and season, then pour into the muffin cases

I baked them at fan 200 for 15 minutes.

BIWI They look delicious. I might give them a go this week

magicalrealistmum · 21/05/2016 13:17

Hi

nearly a week, keeping going and resisting bread, difficult on Saturday family lunch.

B FF yogurt, coffee and unsweetened almond milk
L Sort of eggs florentine, Cod, spinach, egg, aspasrgaus and hollandiase (mayo, cream and tiny bit of mustard)-was super tasty and rest of family had the same but with bread instead of cod
D Fish and low carb veggies
S babybel

I don't eat meat but I do eat fish.
I'm also measuring water intake today, all in a jug and water bottle to take out and about. Haven't been managing to drink enough water

Feeling OK, have good weekend everyone.

nekobus · 21/05/2016 13:24

BIWI those look lovely!

Like some of you I've got a difficult weekend, I have a function this eve with a fixed menu and the wine will be flowing. I'm away on my own so seems a shame not to indulge in a little Wine when I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn!!

B - 2 hb eggs and butter, creamy coffee
L - 2 hb eggs, 2 babybel, celery filed with peanut butter (my pre flight picnic, best I could do!)
D - I'll eat all the LC bits of set dinner and see how I get on.

Water will be hard as travelling and don't want to be needing the loo all the time but should have done 1.5L by the time I land and will try and get the other 1.5 in before bed!

Have a great weekend everyone Smile

SingToMeInFrench · 21/05/2016 13:34

My rucksack is full of carb laden energy bars- they are there from last weekend, I must resist! I am going to have to drive to find a suitable LC lunch before I meet pupils back at camp..

Can't drink too much either , driving around after these pupils and I don't fancy having a wee in a bush! I'll top up once I'm back a camp

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 21/05/2016 13:56

I've just had some time child-free in Bury Market. To whoever asked about black pudding the ones in packets are 198 g CHO per 100 g. Sad.

I did get my celeriac and a big cauliflower, and a piece of fancy cheese. I resisted olives because I still have some at home but I know where I'll go to get more when I run out.

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 21/05/2016 13:57

Whoops 19.8 g per 100g!

StrawberryLeaf · 21/05/2016 14:14

Socially I think it was me, I was debating a chicken and black pudding salad in a restaurant yesterday but ended up with a naked burger and salad. I'll serve the black pudding now! Smile

Messed up big style this morning! I visited my 92 year old Gran, she had bought in a cake for me and the kids to have with coffee. I really wasn't bothered for it but felt too guilty since she had bought it so I had a small slice.

I had done so well! Seriously need to get stronger and not eat for other people benefit, I realise now how often I do this, just eat because it's expected! Blush

Going to try not to let this derail me, back to plan.

B - Greek yoghurt
L - tuna, chopped boiled eggs, Parmesan, dressing (oil, red wine vinegar) and little gem lettuce
D - beef curry, spinach, broccoli
S - coffee with cream x 2, cheese

AuntieMaggie · 21/05/2016 14:30

How funny BIWI without even reading the thread I made muffins for breakfast/lunch yesterday Smile Yours look yummy! I used some corgette I had leftover from the lasagne, spinach, mushrooms and bacon in a silicone muffin tray, 3 eggs, dash of cream and some cheddar. At 200° for 20 mins... they were lovely. If I have time to make them in the morning then I can take some with me out and about when out with ds to eat on the run.

Yesterday's food
Bfast and lunch - muffin things
Dinner - chicken and coleslaw and salad

Today
Brunch - scrambled egg with a splash of cream bacon mushrooms and spinach
Dinner - meat coleslaw and salad

I've been trying to have more fat in the form of dairy to see what would happen as I've been eating this way for a while now and had stalled and since I started that Tues I've lost 1.5 kg which leads me to believe I've not been eating enough. So more fat for me! I'm actually satisfied hunger wise the way I've been eating so haven't been depriving myself...

granjinx · 21/05/2016 14:50

My first post on here - started Bootcamp early and lost 7 lbs in 7 days - still managing to hang on in. Some days I really don't feel like eating, and finding veg not easy. Big change after years of calorie counting and low fat - much happier with this woe. Going to browse the recipes now.

Pengweng · 21/05/2016 15:00

I've had broccoli, 1.5 lc sausages and 2 eggs cooked in butter for breakfast. I've just had lunch as have been painting my bedroom and lost track of time. Had left over beef stew with a spoonful of mashed swede and a babybel. Dinner is a chicken and herb burger with avocado and salad and swede chips in beef dripping.
Behind on water as was busy painting so only 1 litre so far but chugging away now. Dh has made a honey bundt cake with thr kids though the bastard. Grin i bloody love a good bundt!

Pre-summer Low Carb Bootcamp - I declare it to be open!
Pengweng · 21/05/2016 15:02

Just to add i won't be partaking in said cake but i have sniffed it a bit. Grin

Flisspaps · 21/05/2016 15:03

Cathemeral it's definitely easier with the MN group behind you - the shane of having to admit I'd slipped up would be too much to bear!

Spaghetti and meatballs was served at ILs house last night, so I ate the meatballs and homemade sauce and got the kids to eat most of my pasta - I didn't eat any nor did I touch the garlic bread. Was offered wine and declined that too, so they probably think there's an announcement pending HmmShock

Sent DH to the shop for cheese and ham this morning as only cereal options in their house, but there's bacon for tomorrow so that is sorted!

Lunch has been a Wetherspoons Texan burger without chips, onion rings or the bun, and extra avocado. DH ate the carbs off my plate and has felt like crap since.

I've bought the IPD diet books - what a revelation! It all just makes sense!

stilllovingmysleep · 21/05/2016 15:10

Strawberry don't beat yourself up too much. A slice of cake being served to you is a hard one to resist. Try to not make it worse by thinking along the lines of "since I broke the diet now, I might as well let all hell break loose & go on a carb binge". That used to be my attitude and never helped as its then so discouraging! Instead, during the last 3 months that I've more or less been LCing successfully, I've had (I would say) 3 days or so where I ate carbs. I put it behind me, had 3-4 days when I did't weigh myself & ate in a strict way & all occasions didn't lead to weight gain, it just meant a bit slower in losing.

stilllovingmysleep · 21/05/2016 15:13

Pengweng hard to have that cake in front of you Grin. Good for you for not giving in!

DietChic · 21/05/2016 15:24

Aah. So. My carbs are at 27 today but they are all from red wine and a tiny bit of salted caramel chocolate and a green salad (which I largw ignored) plus balsamic. No more. Just some meat this evening. Had an amazing ribeye.

But damn.

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 21/05/2016 15:42

dietchic are you saying 27 g is a lot or a little? Or do you mean 27% kcal from carbs?

strawberry just get back on track now. I ate through half my naked bar stash on Tuesday for no reason. I've just had to give them away, plan to have lc things instead, and move on. We can do it!

After resisting deli olives I found little sachets of olives at Savers and I'm going to take those to work. I haven't needed a snack for a few days but if I do now I'll have something non dairy and non perishable available.
