Morning!

Here's the SoF for you to confess all

So we move into the second half.

By now, those of you who have been here from the beginning should be hitting your stride, and be more comfortable about what to do, what works/doesn't work etc.

Let's really focus and concentrate on doing it properly.

Good luck!

Thanks for adding my stats Wombat, much appreciated.

I messed up an attempt at fathead pizza and have invented really delish cheese scones.

Zap some grated cheese with some cream goats cheese in the microwave for 2 mins, then whisk for a min. Add an egg, whisking it up, until airy and spoon into silicone cup cases.
Bake until golden brown at approx 220.

They are halfway between a soufle and a scone - very yummy and filling.

I was trying for fathead pizza base to make up a burger - but ..... You win some you loose some Wink

I used m&s grated cheddar and mozzarella Blush I bought the wrong type.

Well, MissSmiley, it's better than 3lbs on!

I posted in reply to your post on the old thread just a little bit earlier, to ask you if you have read Bootcamp rules?

Why don't you list out for me what you've been eating and drinking over the last week or so, and let me see if I can help?

Hi, well done everyone. I fell of the wagon with half term holidays... Can someone please add my weight 140 pounds. I will highly appreciate x

I have lost a pound this week, but actually I'm very happy with that as its been a horrible week (my dad admitted to hospital with a massive pulmonary embolism, DD has had croup, and DH working away.....aargh!) so on Saturday I fell face down into a plateful of carbs. I know it's total emotional eating, as I really enjoy low carb food, but sugar just has this hold over me. I'm convinced it's a very addictive substance and sometimes I wonder if I will ever escape it's hold SadAnyone have any tips for really escaping its grasp, or should I just move on and not think about it so much? I had a good day yesterday so I'm just going to try and stay focused this week. Thank god dad has been discharged today and seems pretty good, so at least that's one less thing to worry about.

Quick question, what can I buy from M&S, apart from the pork crackling, that is portable and doesn't need refrigerating? Going to stock up on my way to the train this afternoon?
Thanks, will catch up properly later.

Thanks Floris that sounds very upsetting and stressful. At times like this most of us end up falling off the wagon. I think it's partly because of the way sugar affects us but also because we live in a society where sugary and carby foods are the easiest to obtain.

Mook how about olives, nuts, cured meat, tinned sardines, Babybels.

ChesterDrawers · 23/02/2016 07:29

Thanks Wombat, it's nice to be missed Grin

Down 1lb today so pleased with that. Snacked on a babybel and some pork scratchings last night. Didn't need them, just felt nibbly, so need to stop that. Drank about 4l of water/herb teas though so sure that helped.

Today's plan
B: eggs, butter
L: last of my vat of brocolli and Stilton soup
D: donner kebab, swede chips, salad, HM Mayo

Feeling tons better already, I wish it was easier to eat LC in everyday life as there's no way I would deviate then. It's just such a PITA when out, with family or friends. I know it's possible but I get fed up of looking like the oddbod all the time. Sigh, I can just imagine my MILs face if she spotted my liberal use of butter/cheese/cream.

I found this recipe for another pizza base with no almond flour in it - I don't know if it is already on the recipe thread, but I tried it and enjoyed it:

Sorry to hear about the various ills and woes. I'll add to them: FIL was taken into a care home a couple of weeks ago, after a fall that resulted in a bad gash to his head and a broken elbow. He's been whipped off to A&E this morning with stomach pains and vomiting - some kind of infection, apparently. Thankfully DH is already there, as MIL is really not coping without her husband, so he's been able to drive her into see him. As they're both 92 this is all a bit worrying.

Thanks Stuntnun. Yep, I'm trying not to be too hard on myself and get back to it because I know how good it feels to do it properly and lose the weight. I think there is definitely a chemical component to it, as it felt quite compulsive, like I really could not stop myself self-medicating; for me, carbs are comfort and always have been. But the second reason, which I have always found is the most important thing about this WOE is just not being organised. Junk and carbs are just so readily available, whereas this takes a bit of planning, so in a stressful period something has to give. Tonight I have made oopsie rolls for the first time and actually, they are delicious and great for a snack, but I have to take the time to have cream cheese in the house, and then make them.

LexLoofah · 23/02/2016 09:28

floris sounds like a very tough time for you, you can and you will get over the pull of carbs eventually, and like you say planning and not having all the tempting things in the house really helps

mook M&S do re-sealable pouches of olives, I found them by the tills (just ignore the percy pigs etc), the lemon & oregano ones were nice but a bit salty, they do two boiled eggs in a pot with a bit of spinach by the sushi/sandwhiches, they do pots with cubes of cheese, they do cooked ham or bacon strips, I like the red pepper calamari rings - enjoy your train picnic

actually came on to ask a question: Is Truvia OK for baking? Not for me really although I might have a bit, mostly for the DCs as trying to get them off sugar so looking at what sweeteners are safe to use that won't cause the same insulin spike. It seems it is erythritol mixed with stevia and sugar? Am I better off with pure erythritol? thnx

beyond hope you are OK????

BIWI sorry to read of your FIL's illness, hope he's soon feeling better and more comfortable.

Jerm123 I might try those cheese 'scones', sounds lovely! I made fat head pizza at the weekend only to have the whole lot devoured by family.

Really silly LC 101 question - is there any way to tell when/if I've ketoadapted? Not feeling hungry, no carb cravings, sleeping well etc etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to cook duck legs? All the recipes I can find involve five spice which I don't fancy. I was thinking about browning them in my cast iron skillet then finishing them off in the oven, I'm just not sure about seasoning.

Report
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/02/2016 10:33

I don't tend to cook them quickly, I have to say. Long stewing type dishes, or I have also done confit duck legs (but that takes a couple of days, so probs not ideal if you want them for dinner tonight! Grin)

Try coriander seed as a seasoning - it's got a slight orangey flavour, and duck goes well with orange. :)

Sorry to those of you struggling Flowers I've had more than my fair share of upset over the past two years so know how important it is to look after yourself so please be kind to yourselves all of youSmile

I like to think I do pretty well navigating work events but one has come up where it isn't appropriate for me to take my own food and I can't order ahead so plan is to have a decent breakfast, take snacks, drink plenty of water and go for the least damaging lunch option! Fingers crossed there are salad options that don't involve carbs... I'm also pretty skint at the moment so shopping at m&s on the way is out!

Cloud that looks great! Looks like my Oopsie bread that I made at the weekend. Is your light and fluffy? Made with eggs and cream cheese?
