Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - We're not cheating at all, are we?!

BIWI · 08/02/2016 07:33

Morning all!

Here's the SoF

Hopefully it will be working for you all. As ever, if you can't enter your weight, please ask on the thread and (hopefully!) someone will do it for you.

And just to reiterate StuntNun, this WOE really does work. However, it's a very unforgiving way of eating, and if you're going to cheat, then it won't.

I totally get that circumstances interfere with things - but we all have to try as much as we can to plan around 'off piste' occasions.

Also, however, don't forget that we're still in the tricky 3-4-5 week period, where it's not unusual for weight loss to stop altogether.

Remember - KOKO! If it worked for you in weeks 1 and 2, then logically it's going to work in subsequent weeks.

Good luck all

Flowers

But I did think about you all - I'm on the train now, and at 11.55 the trolley laden with complimentary wine (I'm in First Class) rolled past.

I did, however, refuse and just went with a bottle of water and cup of coffee!

That sounds terrifying thumb it's exactly the type of situation I think I would lose my shit, you are very brave!

Carb creep has gotten the better of me, larger portions of berries and huuuge quantities of dark choc have been consumed so I won't be surprised if I see no loss this week. I have no self control so if it's in the house I can't limit myself very well Sad I'm consoling myself with the fact that at least it's not galaxy or dairy milk crap I'm shoving in my face so still hugely reduced sugar intake. Very disappointed in myself!

Ankle is still too bad to exercise, I thought it was all better and then I bent it at a funny angle and it's all sore again. I can put weight on it but I have to keep it straight. Frustrating because I've bought some new boots but I can't even get them on GrinHmm

B: none
L: total yog, HB egg
D: Smoked paprika pulled chicken with broccoli and possibly celeriac fries!

Patapouf · 11/02/2016 13:21

What is a barmcake lex?

Mookbark · 11/02/2016 14:56

I think we have a north/ south divide. Grin A barmcake is a flat, round bread roll, or bap or cob... Depending where you are from.

I'm back in the NW today visiting my Dad who is unfortunately in hospital. Sad however, he's not as bad as I thought he may be, so that's sort of good.

I've planned carefully and brought supplies with me, although nothing for dinner. I'm expecting to get home between 8-9, so if I get hungry before then, I'll try and stop at a services with an M&S or somethings and get a salad.

B - cold back farmer sausage
L - mackerel pate with lettuce and cucumber.
Have babybel and an avocado with me if I need them.

Talking of people eating our food, DH sausage last night. Shock I had had two, given him 3 and put one to the side to cool down for today. I took one off his plate to compensate. Bloody man! He said I was lucky he hadn't given it to the dog. Grin

mustbemad71 · 11/02/2016 15:11

Northern girl here! A barmcake is called a stottie cake in these parts! It is delish with ham and pease pudding but sadly not on BC!

Hope you dad is ok Mook - and your DS Thumb. Thanks

I'm STARVING, it's horrendous - just one or two off piste moments and now I'm a carb monster again but much worse than before!

Did you know spam has 3g of carbs? Probably counts as 'processed' though Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 11/02/2016 15:25

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 11/02/2016 15:27

Ds is fine now, thanks - he recovers fairly quickly, thank goodness. He's a bit cut up from the faceplant that set it all off though - scraped nose, bruised upper lip, scraped knee and both inner arms - obviously didn't put his hands out in front of him when he tripped at all, silly little thing :(. He'll learn, I hope!

Patapouf · 11/02/2016 16:35

Ah okay so a barmcake with filling is like a sandwich?

Flowers for your dad Mook

What on earth was posted that warranted deletion?

Gcalgske · 11/02/2016 16:56

Also intrigued by deletion...
Thumb you rock Mrs, it's hard to stay cool in a crisis.
mookFlowers for you and your dad.
Biwi you made me snort laughing standing at nursery pick up they already think I'm weirdGrin

Wombatinabathhat · 11/02/2016 17:05

Ooh, we don't get many deletions on bc threads

VagueIdeas · 11/02/2016 17:11

Found this peanut butter (I miss peanut butter!). 4.6g carbs per 100g. This is OK, right? Especially when I only have a couple of heaped teaspoons?

Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - We're not cheating at all, are we?!
Patapouf · 11/02/2016 19:19

I've just eaten 150g of lychees, am I going to fall out of ketosis now?
My car window has been smashed and I just scoffed them without thinking. its disgusting how interlinked my emotions are with food but I'm so upset over a poxy window.

LexLoofah · 11/02/2016 19:40

pata yes barmcake is for savoury esp good with bacon or sausage, like what you Londoners would use a roll for. Not sweet like a cake, did you think I had eaten a pie on top of a cake? Smile. Bastards about your window, I would be shaken too. It is not disgusting to be emotional and turn to food, almost everyone does this but perhaps not with lychees ... is that your go to comfort food or nearest thing to hand?

vague that's not too bad the peanut one and almond one I have in are 7.4g, I don't have them anymore, use to use them for snacks in the early days, they are for the DCs now. Is it PB you are craving or just a bit hungry? There are lower carb things you could have to fill up but one or two tsp of PB should be OK so long as you can step away after that.

mook hope your Dad is OK

LexLoofah · 11/02/2016 19:48

for the record:

B - speedy sausages x 3, scr eggs
L - leftover fishpie topped with caulimash from the freezer, cabbage fried in butter
D - meatzza topped with shallots & bit of red pepper. Improvised coleslaw using last bit of iceberg lettuce, shallot, carrot, celery and hm mayo

2 sqs dark choc and yet again another difference between brands, co-op fairtrade 85% has 8g more carbs (25 vs. 16.8) than the sainsburys 85% one, I do not understand esp as the co-op one tastes more bitter in a good way, almost fruity

can anyone recommend a mandolin type thing for thin slices of veg, am thinking shaved salad/coleslaw come summer will be nice, would like to do fennel, celeriac, radish etc

VagueIdeas · 11/02/2016 19:49

I do love PB Lex Grin

Actually my problem today has been being a bit hungry. I did a last minute online shop and forgot a few things, so LC eating has been a bit tricky today and I've probably overdone it on the dairy. Lunch was celery with soft cheese and PB, purely for variety!

readyforno2 · 11/02/2016 19:52

Oh my god. I've just created the BEST desert ever.
90% (1square) chocolate melted with a little butter mixed into some whipped double cream. It was absolutely delicious and totally hit the spot. I think I'm going to do it again on Saturday night for dh when the do are away.

Food today

B coffee with cream (decaf)
L cheese salad with mayo
D salmon fillets cooked in garlic and herb butter with mashed swede, followed by said desert.

At least 3 litres water and two coffee with cream (1 decaf 1 normal)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/02/2016 19:52

B: Cup of tea w milk
L: Mozzarella salad, cup of tea.

S: Chunk of cheese and tiniest crumb of dark choc
D: Steak, mashed buttery neep, creamy mushroom sauce. Cup of tea.

I am having tea creep. Grin I have a lot of milk in my tea so I'm trying to keep it to 2 cups a day. Just waiting for my dinner to go down enough to Shred.

readyforno2 · 11/02/2016 19:56

Have just read through since my last bookmark.
Thumb, that must have been terrifying. I don't know if I could hold it together Thanks
Chester, feel like I can repay you for your kind words earlier in bc. Don't beat yourself up, it's so easy to fall off the wagon. Hope your meeting went well

Moanranger · 11/02/2016 20:15

I just read the label on unsweetened almond milk ( which I was avoiding) & found it only has a trace ( like 0.1) carbs per 100 ml. It's a bit watery, but works for me in tea, where I find cream a bit odd. Cream in coffee on the other hand is mighty fine.
B -coffee with cream, a couple of cubes of cheese.
L 100% beef burger on salad, with cheese, tomato slice & avocado, mayo.
D courgette & aubergine involuntini ( veg filled with full fat ricotta & baked with homemade tomato sauce & mozzarella on top) Also salad. Makes up for yesterday's meat feast.
DP food pushing & when I said you are trying to make me fat, he said, oh, you're not fat (I wish!) Men! I guess it would be worse if he was one of those control freak blokes who commented on your hips or dress size.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 11/02/2016 20:30

It was spam, hence my random spam post Grin

knowclue · 11/02/2016 20:47

So so busy, sick elderly mother has meant poor meal planning and little time to plan anything. Not read previous posts but hope everyone well and KOKO!

Yesterday:
B: coffee cream
L: celery with cream cheese and marmite, had a spinach avocado raspberry smoothie later
D: cold chicken salad

Today
B: egg
L: salad, little grated cheese on top
D: two LC sunshades with broccoli, rest of cheese

Weight wise I've hit a wall (always do around now), just have to stay on the path really....so nice to come on here and read that I'm not alone.

Flowers to all feeling like me

LexLoofah · 11/02/2016 21:07

auntie Maggie

picnic ideas, esp if you have a little cool bag

  • lc crackers, butter and cheese - several recipes on the recipe thread
  • cooked sausages, cucumber sticks, celery stuffed with butter
  • hardboiled eggs
  • sausage rolls using the fathead pizza dough (credits to Gcal for this), I think fathead is on recipe thread if not easily found on google. Actually I think this dough would make awesome stromboli, am going to try that
. here's a few things I have pinned but not tried yet:

meat muffins or I guess cold meatballs

cheesy pinwheels

hope these help, being out and about is one of the hardest things to manage on LCHF

AuntieMaggie · 11/02/2016 21:49

Thank you for all the ideas. I used to make loads of crackers but have forgotten how so will have to look...
