Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - We're not cheating at all, are we?!

Morning all!

Here's the SoF

Hopefully it will be working for you all. As ever, if you can't enter your weight, please ask on the thread and (hopefully!) someone will do it for you.

And just to reiterate StuntNun, this WOE really does work. However, it's a very unforgiving way of eating, and if you're going to cheat, then it won't.

I totally get that circumstances interfere with things - but we all have to try as much as we can to plan around 'off piste' occasions.

Also, however, don't forget that we're still in the tricky 3-4-5 week period, where it's not unusual for weight loss to stop altogether.

Remember - KOKO! If it worked for you in weeks 1 and 2, then logically it's going to work in subsequent weeks.

Good luck all

Thanks wanda

Gcalgske · 08/02/2016 10:10

Hugs hefzi hope you are ok
ami?

I'm not weighing but am koko. Yesterday was a bit of a disaster in terms of portion control. I was eating all BC stuff but when I was not hungry and consequently had far too much pork belly at dinner. Back to it today, renewed vigour. Stunts fabulous post pelvic problems pain free pregnancy has inspired me, so (despite being shattered as toddler up 6 times in the night - because DH was up and down with a tummy bug) I have already done 20 mins Pilates and Hmm am eyeing the exercise bike....

hefzi · 08/02/2016 10:11

Thanks, Felicity Flowers - that's made me feel loads better! Sorry things have been tough for you too - but hats off to you for KOKO

And Flowers also to everyone who's ill or struggling

hefzi · 08/02/2016 10:20

Ah, thank you gcal - already feeling better catching up on people's posts on here Smile Hope your DH is feeling better (and keeps his nasty germs to himself!) and that you get some rest today.

Yesterday's Pilates chat inspired me too, to think about going back down the line too: I had to have a little sit down when I saw the prices for 1 to 1 tuition in my area, but as I'm in the process of sorting my finances out, I thought it might be some good inspiration for that too - I'm thinking of making it a "reward" for when I've lost a stone.

And I'm also waiting for an exercise bike to arrive: it's two weeks until my op, and the physio has prescribed about six separate lots of 15 minutes sessions every day, which isn't really conducive when the nearest gym is a 25 minute bus ride away! Of course, it's entirely possible I won't be able to put it together when it gets here - but I'll worry about that later Grin

Nateismine · 08/02/2016 10:35

Morning
Please can someone add my weigh at 140. Just 1lb down this week - a bit disappointed as I have kept on Bootcamp. I'd love to add nuts but am afraid that I am unable to stop at a sensible portion. Can't wait for my belly pork and kale tonight.

NigellasGuest · 08/02/2016 11:03

Nate I will add you if no one else has yet, because I'm about to go on and log myself - also at 140.

Which is STS for me Sad
I did weigh myself midweek and was 1lb down but obviously it's come back on again. I will keep my fingers crossed for a loss this time next week!

I really haven't done anything too bad - have had small portions of raspberries and blueberries plus a blip last week when I unleashed myself onto a panforte, but threw most of it in the bin. I am aiming to lose another 7lbs and I know the home strait can be tough (I have acutually lost nearly a stone since November and survived Christmas so I guess I should congratulate myself for that).

Thanks to all you losers - and to everyone else too!

Gcalgske · 08/02/2016 11:22

nigella that's tough but the panforte might have knocked you out of ketosis - so it could take a few days to get you back into it but as you were back on it asap I'm sure you'll be ok, try not to get too down, it does get tougher as you approach goal and really well done on Christmas! You are a better woman than me! X

Jerm123 · 08/02/2016 11:36

Hi, sorry haven't posted for some time, as I've had major family emergencies.
Would someone post my weights, as I'm on an iPad.
Wk1 202
Wk2 200
Wk3 198

I started a week before boot cap and I've lost a stone since the start, but a more steady 6lbs in the three weeks since starting here. I want to loose another 2lb next week to hit one of my goals. If I make it, I get a new handbag. I work well with incentives, even if I'm buying them myself Smile

I have cheated once. It was late at night at a hospital and I was starving. I shared a kitkat and had tea with sugar. I'm not beating myself up about it, as it was not eat or have sugar. I needed the energy and it didn't seem to derail my diet/ weight loss.

I'm getting a bit bored of a 100 ways to eat an egg, but I have found all sorts of products which have slightly lower carb values. I've almond flour and even some fairly low carb chillie beans. Both are 5g. I can't believe how different the carbs are on similar products!

Well done to everyone who has lost weight, it is a lovely feeling. To those who haven't KOKO, it will happen - you'll probably just get on the scales one day and find it's gone down.

Next weekend is going to be a big deal for me. My DS is 21 and there are going to be all sorts of goody celebrations. I'm in two minds - do I give myself the weekend off, and just accept the consequences, or be fairly good, but accept I will be having champagne etc.

Has anyone taken a couple of days off?

HammerToFall · 08/02/2016 12:08

I do high intensity training three times a week and I'm finding I get really intense headaches about ten minutes in that last all day or until I take pain killers. I make sure I drink a pint of water before I start but this isn't helping. Anyone got any ideas?

fohamy12 · 08/02/2016 12:16

Sounds like lack of salt to me Hammer but more expert advice will be along soon!

Too Extra thank you!Grin

I've stayed the same as last week, which considering it's time of the month and I usually swell up with an additional 5lbs of water I think I stay the same is good.
I did have two gin and slim line tonics on Friday night as well
Can someone update the spreadsheet please Smile

Moanranger · 08/02/2016 13:51

Hi,
I am down 0.5 ( 191.5) if someone can post that, thanks.
As I started on Sat, am happy with that.
Feeling better today. I am liking feeling full at D & not snacking in evening - a particular problem for me.
Today, so far:
B celery with Boursin, 1/2 C cottage cheese
L tuna mayo & green salad. Have a good week, all.

God, lunch was delicious! Fajitas without the tortilla wrap. We had roast beef leftovers, so I fried it with shallots, a yellow pepper, chilli powder, garlic salt and paprika, made salsa using 2 tomatoes, half a shallot, some garlic, lemon juice, chilli flakes, salt, pepper and Tabasco, served with a dollop of Greek yoghurt, grated cheese and salad leaves. Yum yum yum!

FoodPorn · 08/02/2016 14:23

I'm still going but totally failing to post - I should have continued to lurk! Going really well, I've lost 18 pounds (I started a week early so that includes an extra week's losses). I'm not really struggling with it at all but the wedding gives me good motivation! I even made biscuits with my toddler on Friday and didn't eat a single one or crumb or smear of icing or anything. That's a bloody miracle for me! I'm vegetarian and having veggie protein foods like quorn seems to be fine for me, though I mostly have eggs and roasted veggies. Yoghurt and cream with lemon oil (and a tiny bit of sweetner... Oops!) is awesome.

HammerToFall · 08/02/2016 14:49

Thanks for that wand. I'll
Give it a try on Wednesday. It's making the sessions quite unbearable and I really want to carry on improving fitness as well as losing weight. I'll try and up the salt as well. What would the proper mineral salt be in?

FelicityFunknickle · 08/02/2016 14:51

Well done on swerving the biscuits foodporn

StuntNun · 08/02/2016 15:15

Hammer if you're drinking water and it doesn't feel like you're quenching your thirst then you're probably low on electrolytes. I've been reading about how the actual mineral content of salt is minuscule so if you think it's an issue then a vitamin and mineral tablet might work better than simple eating more salt.

One big advantage I find to all the water BIWI has us drinking is when it comes to exercise I'm already well hydrated so I don't need to drink as much during exercise. I've been in a kettlebells class where the instructor was a complete b@stard making us suffer and the other people were swigging water between exercises like there was no tomorrow whereas I didn't need to rehydrate as often.

HammerToFall · 08/02/2016 15:59

Thanks Stuntnun. I have been drinking around 3.5l of water and struggling to get that down so I don't think I'm thirsty. I do go first thing after dropping dc off and don't tend to eat beforehand as I'm out the door by 7.15 but don't start till 9.15 so I wonder if I need to eat something before I go?

StuntNun · 08/02/2016 16:12

If you're fat-adapted you shouldn't need to eat but if you're feeling bad maybe something beforehand would help.

Iamdobby63 · 08/02/2016 16:13

@Hammer Try having an oxo drink before you work out, see if that helps. Don't forget drinking loads of water (which is great) will flush you out and deplete salt.

LexLoofah · 08/02/2016 16:30

ami well I would give yourself a pass if in hospital, almost impossible to be LCHF without someone smuggling whole meals in for you everyday, hope you are OK now

Guy we are exactly the same weight from I think the same starting point, how much more do you want to drop? I would like 10-20lb but that may not be realistic. I am a shortie so can't really afford to carry any extra weigh at all, am still in the unhealthy range according to NHS but a few lb would take me into the top end of normal/healthy.

vague the lamb donner is now on regular rotation for us, the celeriac corned beef hash was lovely as is the mince beef curry. Anything Gcal or chester has posted will be a winner.

STS this week but it is the dreaded middle passage of BC and totm. I like his WOE and not planning on eating any differently so just need to keep plodding along

HammerToFall · 08/02/2016 16:34
