Morning all - lovely sunny day here!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for your confessions

It sounds like some of us have been struggling recently, so I hope that the scales have been kind to you this morning.

If the scales aren't your friend, then don't forget to take your measurements, or to try on that dress/those jeans that were too tight 5 weeks ago - the results here are more meaningful than the scales anyway.

I put some new trousers on yesterday that I bought a couple of weeks ago, and find that they are now too big. Which is both pleasing and annoying at the same time Grin

so todays lecture at uni involved trying all the high sugar high calrie supplement food and drinks that patients are offered. I managed to get away with just sticking my tongue in the pot and thickening powder which is 0cals and 0 fat, it iis however 88grams of carbs, I think I managed to hide quite well. Trying to explain to the lecturer why I was not participating, I do understand that it is important but at the same time can't I just acknowledge they are gross without ruining all my had work.

diggerdigsdogs · 11/06/2015 15:27

Just checking in with food. Everyone is asleep so I'm heading that way too.

B: same as before though it made me gag today. Proper breakfast tomorrow I think.
L: very buttery, garlicky and lemony fennel, courgette, brocollini with some left over creamy leeks.
D: cauliflower fried "rice" with chicken, ham, egg.

Got my water in too so it was a good day. And no sugar urge even when giving the kids a snack.

HemanOrSheRa · 11/06/2015 16:50

Whoop! Whoop! I saw someone today that I haven't seen for ages. She's not shy with her opinions Grin and would happily tell me if I looked rough or had put on weight. But she didn't! She said I looked like I had lost weight and looked really well. "Younger than ever" were her exact words! Such a boost after yesterdays disaster.

Food today:

I wasn't hungry first thing. So 2 cups of black tea.

L - Tuna Mayo, egg and large salad with mixed leaves, tom, cue, avocado, shallot, olives and oily dressing. A dill pickle to mop up the oily juices.

D - Will be a chicken traybake of some description - chicken, courgette, tomato, celeriac roasted with herbs, garlic and a slosh of oil. Served with some steamed and buttered cavelo nero that is lurking in the fridge.

S - a hunk of cheddar and two squares of 85% choc with a cup of black tea.

Water - 1.5l. Still going with that.

Hissy · 11/06/2015 17:09

I'm drinking like a fish! done an easy 3L today.

B: Alpro yoghurt with double cream
L: 2 cheese slices, tomatos, lettuce, mayo
D:dunno yet, going out, may do a bunless burger and salad

I'm not eating enough fat I know...

I need to find things i like that are simple to sort out. I like to get into a routine, esp with breakfast.

yesterday:
B: sausage omelette
L: salami/cured meats with mayo, salad and cheese
Last night I had fish and chips - parmesan coated fish (yum) celeriac chips (yum yum)
S: packet of pork scratchings

Gcalgske · 11/06/2015 18:07

Today:
B: BPC, coconut milk with extra thick cream, flax and 3 frozen raspberries (BClite)
L: cucumber, 2 pork steaks in chilli, oil and lemon
D: sausages with leeks, shallots and mushrooms served with steamed cauliflower

Hangonaminutewillyou · 11/06/2015 19:17

So happy the sun is out!! Makes everything so much better.

I got my Davina 7 minute fit DVD today & have already done a session - felt good to do some exercise at long last. Would love to do it every day but we'll see if I can manage that...

B: BP tea with coconut oil (since starting these BP teas I have consumed nearly half the jar of coconut oil so will have to get more supplies!) , defrosted raspberries & fresh blueberries (handful) with FF Greek yog & cream
L: BBQ ribs with BBQ sauce scrapped off
D: curry take out - tandoori chicken & Aubergine bhuna side dish,so tasty.

LexLoofah · 11/06/2015 19:48

well done trash you won't regret swerving the bread, moment on the lips and all that

heman see what a difference a day makes? brilliant

well when I woke up this morning the room was spinning, I felt so faint and dizzy. Got up slowly, had some water but when I was in the shower felt like I was going to faint so headed for the bed and threw up the water. So breakfast if you can call it that was half a cup of tea and half a sq of dark choc brought up by DH bless him. I know it sounds like an excuse but when I am feeling rough, choc always helps, maybe it is the sugar or the alkalinity or what I don't know.

Anyway, Dr says dizziness and nausea is because of fluid in my blocked ear so have a bag full of steroids and god knows what else to take. Good news is that the sugary liquid that was prescribed as a decongestant also comes as a tablet so that will minimise the damage hopefully.

Am at work now after a nibble of cheese at home and a salmon salad I picked up on the way in for lunch.

D - I have a jointed chicken in the fridge so will do something quick and easy with some of that, perhaps in a cream cheesy tomato sauce over courgetti or something but will try and make it as fat laden as possible as low on that today.

Oh and I need to drink even more water with these tabs, think I might sleep next to the loo tonight.

lisbapalea · 11/06/2015 20:55

Hi all!

I think have been struck by a delayed leaving do hangover so have felt pretty crap today. I have been good with food for the past few days, but it's amazing the impact of the celebratory drinks, and their sugar free mixers (several vodka and slimline a plus a couple of wines) on my mood and body, two days later! I feel bloated and bleurgh!

Anyway, enough negativity! Here's today's food:

B - ff yog, coconut flakes, a few berries
L - home cooked ham in chunks, with chunks of cheddar, in a salad with courgette, cucumber, lettuce, olives and dressing
D - "fridge clear salad" : skin on chicken thigh, chorizo, roast cauli, goats cheese, olives, artichoke, radish, cucumber, lettuce, pine nuts, oily dressing

Snack - a few pork scratchings and a piece of cheese while I cooked kids dinner.
Lots of water but still doesn't feel enough go so I am still guzzling!

SayraT · 11/06/2015 21:08

If anyone is looking for a different sort of drink then try this:

Spicy chai teabag (twinnings) in a mug of almond milk warmed in the microwave for 2 mins then squeezed out and then a dash of double cream. Yummy creamy, spiciness.

ijustwanttobeme · 11/06/2015 23:26

B: applewood cheese slice and some wafer thin ham
s: cup,of tea
L: chicken and ham salad
D.: vegetable hash, and a poached egg on top

trashcanjunkie · 12/06/2015 00:31

Evening ladies! Thanks for the pats on the back gcal wine and lex I feel so good about it, and when I got on the scales this morning I was at 16st 13, which is back down in the right direction. Fuck though, it's slow going. I have had very good food days, apart from my new vice which seems to be processed meat. If it's not roll mops, it's bloody sausages! (those thin chorizo style ones that come four to a pack) still, plenty of fat in them, and salt. I have drunk all of my water too, plus a bullet proof coffee from the paleo cafe, which didn't cause any heartburn! Grin

Went climbing today, and I think cos I wasn't with Dp I was less distracted and tried harder than I though possible. I got myself up three 'problems' and had a good attempt at several more. Got 'the fear' at the top of one of the buggers, and made something akin to sex noises trying to climb down. Am very wary of jumping off like the young uns do, cos of my bawdy feet. I made it in one piece though.

Tetley650 · 12/06/2015 06:40

trash lots of pats on the back!
Got up early to go and collect DH from airport - but flight now delayed by half an hour. Being cheap skates I pick him up from the departures drop off and have to time it right
Food is going really well and all hail the 6 x 500ml bottles of water. Several coffees yesterday in the morning and so didn't start drinking the water until pm. All gone by 9pm. Today going to Cornwall so will take all 6 and no doubt finish them and may buy some more. Obviously don't want to get into too much state but think with the new temps can probably drink another 1-2 bottles. Have a great day!

Hissy · 12/06/2015 07:46

lex that sounds like labyrinthitis, the fluid in the inner ear is probably the cause. Did you have a headache too? Anti travel sick tablets can help btw.

diggerdigsdogs · 12/06/2015 07:50

How normal is a sudden dodgy tummy? Woke up feeling hungover and have a very sudden dodgy tummy. Thank god I was home and not out!

All I've eaten today is tea with coconut oil, coyo, double cream and berries and a bit of stir fried veg. I've been craving toast and not feeling like anything at the same time as feeling hungry. The foods I've mentioned was all I could stomach. And now I have a horrible dodgy tummy.

I did write a long post earlier this morning but lost it :(

blessedenough · 12/06/2015 08:25

Poor you DIGGER I had this earlier this week, I am still not right. There is an evil bug going around here, 4 of us had it and we have one bathroom!!!

I also find coconut oil makes me need the loo in a hurry sorry tmi. Get better soon, it was grim. I also craved toast the only thing that kept me on the straight and narrow was the threat of ibs style pains when I do eat bread.

plumstone · 12/06/2015 09:07

Take care Lex and Digger - I have a pathetic constitution and anything from too much milk, too much veg, not enough veg, the wind, the rising of the sun etc. can cause it to get a bit stressed. Never really worked it out what causes it, but when I need the look - boy do I need the loo, I also go and never try and hold it.

Well out last night and was at Sushi Samba too late for the raw fish so ended up in the Duck and Waffle in London, Fab for high fat food:

I had steak tartar - fillet steak and raw egg mixed together - salt and pepper - lovely
Followed by confit duck, and a fried egg - left the waffle but it was really nice. My friend had the foie gras creme brûlée, now I love foie gras and the concept of it all whipped up and then with a butter crust did appeal but oh no - really not pleasant at all. Had one gin and soda and a black coffee so all in all not a bad night

Today:
B - parma ham, baby mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, salami and brie
L - As above - bought lots to have for both meals
D - BPC
W - 3.5 liters - feel a bit dehydrated due to the late night last night not in till after 1am so feeling knackered now!!!

Gcalgske · 12/06/2015 09:20

Coconut oil can give the runs if you are not used to it, MCT oil is even worse. Sorry digger, best to use it in small amounts and build up if you are particularly sensitive.

diggerdigsdogs · 12/06/2015 10:30

I've been having coconut oil daily with breakfast (about 25g) for weeks now. Would it really suddenly set me off?

blessed absolutely the only thing keeping me on the straight and narrow is not wanting to get back on the bloody waggon. I'm staying on it this time!

Hangonaminutewillyou · 12/06/2015 11:05

Found this article today...might be interesting to read if you're having tummy troubles.. Was it you Romey that mentioned about FODMAP etc? It's about gut health & the importance of cellular v. cellular carbs for gut health chriskresser.com/are-vegetarian-diets-better-for-the-microbiome/?mc_cid=1c486f6883&mc_eid=6b4b50dd38

blessedenough · 12/06/2015 13:00

Is anyone a homemade yoghurt maker? I have an easy yo yoghurt maker and I strain it to make thick greek yoghurt. I use full fat uht and a yeo valley yoghurt as a starter - does anyone know how the carbs compare to say lidl full fat yoghurt. I do usually add cream to it as well.
Thanks

diggerdigsdogs · 12/06/2015 13:22

That's really interesting hang thank you and makes a huge amount of sense.

Hissy · 12/06/2015 14:16

I've got a gammy finger - well if only, it's just swollen and hurts a LOT. Am on antibiotics - 2nd round starting now, no improvement, in fact it's getting worse somehow.

Any clues on how I can offset the antibiotics, probiotics? are they LC friendly?

WineCheeseSleep · 12/06/2015 14:24

My food yesterday:
B: Leftover cauliflower mash mixed with an egg and and fried in butter in little rosti shapes, with 2 x bacon. Amazing.
L: Leftover pork with aubergine and tomato fried in butter
D: Chicken tikka masala from the recipe thread plus cauliflower rice

Also a creamy coffee and 3l water

Hope you're all having good days and looking forward to the weekend! We're meeting friends for lunch but just checked out the menu and looks a bit limited and carby...

lisbapalea · 12/06/2015 14:32

My rotten-ness from last night has continued but dh now has it so I think it's a bug and not a hangover!

Anyway feeling ill has made me feel ok about watching daytime Tv while dd2 naps - just watched Jamie Oliver make some amazing looking ricotta fritters with a delicious tomato sauce and courgette salad which I think looks brilliant for LCing so thought I would let you all know! I can't link on my phone but am sure it is googlable!

There was 1tbsp plain flour in the fritters but I am sure that could be replaced with ground almonds? His recipe also used passage but I discovered Sainsburys basics passage yesterday (thought they only did basics chopped toms) and that is 3.1g carbs per 100g.

I will be making it within the next week so will report back!

My food today:

B - ff Greek with cream, coconut flakes, berries and cocoa nibs
L - watercress and goats cheese salad (lots of dressing) with roasted veg
D - getting takeaway so I will choose chicken tandoori tikka kebabs with saag paneer.

LexLoofah · 12/06/2015 16:48

wine cauli fritters do sound good

dinner last night turned out to be chopped chicken breast sauteed with broccoli stalks, courgette, mushrooms, leek and then added leftover bits of sour cream & cream cheese and lots of cream at the end and handful of grated cheese and lots of black pepper, was lovely over mashed swede and v filling, ate less than I would have in the bad old days

hissy no headache but yes to vertigo and nausea, I think sass had this a while back? I just looked it up on the NHS pages, so funny one of the things that can make it worse is 'a women's period' that would be as opposed to the well known men's period would it Smile I do like the sound of best rest though but fat chance of that happening, thankfully room not spinning today and a long weekend to look forward to -- we get Monday off for the Queen's birthday which is also hilarious seeing as the UK doesn't have this
