Welcome everyone!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that the lovely Sayra creates and cares for. Come and confess all.

If you prefer, you can use the individual Weight Tracker, provided by MNHQ, which will open (I hope) tomorrow morning.

Please make sure that you know the rules, and that you know about the allowed veg - look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - and think about printing them off so that you have them to hand

If you have any questions, obviously you can ask them here, but there's also a specific questions thread because the chat threads can move so quickly that questions can get missed.

Unfortunately I'm working pretty full on for the next three days, so won't be around very much - I'll try and check in as much as I can, but in reality I'm not going to be around very much until Thursday - apologies in advance.

Very good luck to you all

OK, so click on the 3 lines in the top lefthand corner, go to "goals". Click on carbs, protein and fats and it let's you change it.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 12/05/2015 13:23

My cauli rice recipe, C&P from the last thread...

Made a really lovely batch of cauliflower rice last night; blitzed it in the food processor as have done previously but then instead of frying it I roasted it...

Plenty of olive oil in a baking dish, heated in a 200*C oven until oil very hot. Then added three anchovies (the kind in jars in olive oil, not the vinegary sort) and let them sizzle and break up on stirring so that they're dissolved into the oil. They give a gorgeous salty umami taste to things (not fishy at all). Then I sprinkled in some hot pimenton and some turmeric and stirred it all about before adding the blitzed cauli (one big head of it) and tossed it all thoroughly in the oil to coat. Baked it for about 15-20 mins, tossing regularly so it cooked evenly. It was bloody lush with beef stroganoff and I'm going to fry up the rest today as egg fried 'rice' with some prawns.

sassandfaff · 12/05/2015 13:25

Sorry, you can change the cals too.

trinitybleu · 12/05/2015 13:27

Was sure I'd posted my menu yesterday, but can't see it ... Anyway, I had
Br - avocado, ham, cheese, mayo
S - salami
D - steak and green salad, mayo

Today is / will be ...
B - greek yog
L - ham salad with Pizza Express dressing
D - lamb steak with mint sauce and cauliflower / broccoli / sprouts

How do we feel about protein powders? Had been ading 1/4 of a scoop to my yogurt for flavour, which would be 0.4 carbs??

sassandfaff · 12/05/2015 13:34

I should add on behalf of biwi that she advocates that if you follow the rules and keep veg under 3g and everything else under 4/5g that you won't need to count the carbs.

I don't. I don't use mfp either. It's fairly easy to tweak things if you are sts or gaining- by ditching things that are higher in carbs the next few days.

But I get that some people don't like to have blind faith and also lack confidence that they are doing it right. Smile

sassandfaff · 12/05/2015 13:36

I did use ketostix though at the beginning

Grin
StuntNun · 12/05/2015 13:56

Klep I go into ketosis at under 20g carbs (it varies for different people) but you don't need to be in ketosis to lose weight. A ketogenic diet is used to treat some illnesses such as epilepsy but for weight loss most people can eat around 50g and still lose.

I would advise anyone that's struggling to print the rules out and stick them somewhere prominent. This will work but you have to stick to the rules and the first two weeks are crucial.

Patapouf I hope you are eating more than 1200 calories. I would need at least 1800 calories a day to be able to lose weight on this way of eating. At 1200 calories there are all kinds of problems that would prevent weight loss.

Kleptronic · 12/05/2015 14:21

Cheers stuntnun and sass. I think I'm a bit confused and need to go and read stuff. I've been keeping under 1200 and under 20g carbs (been practising in the week for 4 weeks, 7lb down) but weight loss has stalled. So I can eat more carbs and cals then. Righto my brain's just gone bang Smile

Romeyroo · 12/05/2015 14:23

Em, yes, the poo thread... all the information you ever needed about pooing and not being able to poo when BCing. Plus colonic massage. What more could you want?!?

Super busy here, but looking forward to catching up on thread later.

EmpressofBlandings · 12/05/2015 14:31

Hello all. I'd sort of stuck with lchf from the last bootcamp where I lurked, so it's really a question of knuckling down, cutting out booze (LOTS of booze) and nuts and not eating too much dairy (though I don't eat meat, so I do need some).

Yesterday:
B: slice of broccoli and asparagus frittata (a 6 egg one with some butter and cream stirred into the mix makes 8 portions)
L: Steamed seabass, cucumber and ginger salad (in a restaurant, not enough fat so by home time I was RAVENOUS)
S: a few spoonfuls of M&S king prawn cocktail to give me the energy to get home
D: hot-smoked salmon and asparagus

Today:
B: frittata again
L: Pret crayfish and avocado salad
S: I have a small pack of almonds so I'll have some of those if I'm hungry
D: either hot-smoked salmon or more prawn cocktail, with asparagus and maybe some spinach salad with vinaigrette.

ewanhoozami · 12/05/2015 14:41

Playnice your dinner looks splendid. Love it when people post pics. Do you have one of those spiraliser wotsits for the courgettini?

elles the India Knight Idiot Proof Diet book is a great read on emotional eating. I'd recommend it to anyone starting LC who ties food up with feelings (deffo me and probably most of us..)

m0gz · 12/05/2015 14:41

Oh dear, I thought I would have a quick catch up in here while eating my lunch until I saw mention of my dc's favourite meal time topic of conversation Grin

B: mini quiche and coffee with cream
L: mini quiche, coleslaw, sausage, boiled egg & another coffee
D: likely to be peppered steaks and salad

Two pints of water down, several to go :)

ewanhoozami · 12/05/2015 14:50

Today:

B - three eggs fried in ghee
L - spinach, asparagus, poached egg and homemade mayo
D - Debbie and Andrew's sausages (

Patapouf · 12/05/2015 15:27

Oh I know saff I usually scan the barcode on the packaging, it's just easier for me to use the app than keeping a paper food diary and adding it all up.

The entries vary so drastically on there it's insane.

Patapouf · 12/05/2015 15:32

Oops posted too soon, it's not giving me the 'you're not meeting you goal' warning, it's telling me I'm under the official guidance for losing weight daily calorie intake.

In the last 3ish weeks I've only had the warning maybe 5 times,

How do you fill 1800 cals with LCHF food stuntnun

StuntNun · 12/05/2015 15:33

Kleptronic I can almost guarantee that if you increase your calories then you will start losing weight again.

minibmw2010 · 12/05/2015 15:53

Hello all, I've just inputted my starting weight to the spreadsheet, hope that's OK. I've lost 10lbs since starting 4/5 weeks ago (using BIWI's instructions), and I have a holiday from the 19th to the 26th, but I'm going to try my best to stick to it while away. I can imagine it being easier actually as salads and meats are perfect foods for hot weather.

Today's food so far:

B: 2 slices of streaky bacon, 2 eggs, all cooked in butter
L: Salad leaves, half avocado, cheese, mayo, extra V olive oil;
D: Grilled Chicken with skin on plus cauliflower cheese made from cauliflower, double cream, Philadelphia and grated cheddar.

Had a small snack earlier of pate and baby lettuce. Lots and lots of water.

BIWI · 12/05/2015 15:55

Empress of Blandings - why are you using nuts as a snack?! Not in the first two weeks of Bootcamp!

Tetley650 · 12/05/2015 15:57

I'm assuming the carb counts mentioned are for net carbs - as a newbie I'm using the fat secret app you can choose in the settings five measures including net carbs - really useful.
Re Thai food - that's the plan - curry and veg!

sassandfaff · 12/05/2015 16:04

I think net carbs is an american thing.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/05/2015 16:12

Flippin' 'eck, just found this.
But I'm starting tomorrow anyway.
Bloody forrin Mothers' Day...
TOMORROW. DEFINITELY.

ditavonteesed · 12/05/2015 16:13

over the last few weeks I have realised that my danger time is when the kids get in from school and have snacks, I always seem to want something despite not being hungry, today I think I have worked out how to get past that, I saved my cleaning jobs for now. So while they were at school I did lovely things and now they are playing with friends and I am cleaning. No less stuff done but a better spread of my time. Will see if it works hunger and eating wise.

Also found out the reason for the mass bloating last night, tis totm.
All been good food wise here today
Scrambled eggs
chicken fried in cocnut oil and spinach for lunch
bacon and mozeralla salad for dinner.
I cant tell you how much I am loving this WOE, thanks BIWI.

miffy49 · 12/05/2015 16:17

Yup, nets carbs comes from the USA and its what makes a lot of sites unreliable. In the USA they include fibre in the carb count on labels. In the UK we put fibre down as a separate entity so on a UK packet the carbs are already net.

As Stunt says, you don't need to be in ketosis to lose weight. Theres a lot of confusion on that too. Ketosis diets are often very low carb and used to kick start weight loss or to treat certain health problems. You can lose weight very successfully on a non-ketogenic LC diet.

plumstone · 12/05/2015 16:19

Morning All - This LCing in the US is actually OK - apart from lunches - won't bore you with the details,

Dinners (just having steak and salad each night) but the best thing ever are the canapés. Lots of cubes of cheese, lots of grilled veg all drizzled/swimming in olive oil, and king prawn skewers - was so worried and it has been the least stressful part of the trip!!!

LexLoofah · 12/05/2015 16:36

Sayra you are welcome, can't take all the credit as drama did some too although any errors are likely to be mine

shop done yesterday, some food prepped in the fridge, weeks menu written on the chalk board in the kitchen feeling all prepared plus DD(4) is the opposite of an enabler or diet saboteur as she ate the last of the dark choc - good girl

brined chicken last night was actually quite nice, thought it would be a salty mess after my last attempt but was moist and full of flavour so will do it again
