Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Vodka and soda with lemon/lime slice? :)

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 27/01/2015 11:12

And spread them out, on this woe, you will get drunk quick!

123Jump · 27/01/2015 11:15

I weigh exactly the same, despite loads of exercise and sticking to the plan except for continuing to eat loads of sugary crap!!
I will never beat my sugar addiction...Sad

MarshalTheTroops · 27/01/2015 11:20

Morning all,

this is my first post but I followed bootcamp from the sidelines last January and lost 2 1/2 stone (then put half of it back on).

I'm on week 3 and have stayed the same this week but 7lbs down since Christmas, so heading in the right direction. Feel really positive about everything this time round. Didn't menu plan enough last time and struggled with the water.

I have noticed that I have stopped getting indigestion and don't need my asthma inhaler anymore. But I am getting dry skin and patches of psoriasis like some other posters.

Big fan of the celeriac/watercress/leek soup from the recipe thread served with a chunk of cheese for lunch but need to cut down on the dairy I think.

WireCat · 27/01/2015 11:25

Hello all.

This way of eating has shown me just his much mindless eating I was doing before.

For instance, cooked too much pasta for the kids, would eat he left overs. Grated too much cheese, would eat the leftovers. Getting a biscuit for ds, would wolf one or two down. Would nick sweets from the kids.

And I was a devil for bready stuff. Hot x buns being my downfall.

Today coffee with cream, creamy scrambled eggs and fried mushrooms.

Lunch will be tuna mayo on salad leaves & cucumber.

Dinner will be chicken breast stuffed with Boursin, wrapped in pancetta, served with cauliflower cheese (low carb version!). Dh will have wedges with his as well.

MrsKoala · 27/01/2015 11:27

Thanks all for the advice/support. I have regrouped. Gently laid DS2 down. Had a cup of blackcurrant tea and a handful of kale crisps. Got chicken thighs out of the freezer and made a quick curry sauce to simmer on the hob for dinner. Rummaged in the cupboard and got out some Tuna and will have it with mayo, a bag of leaves and black olives for lunch.

DS1 temp is 36.7 so i think i will send him to nursery. He seems occupied atm so i may shut my eyes for 10 mins. :)

yongnian · 27/01/2015 11:27

Gosh this thread moves quickly! Sayra Grin
Talking about cortisol/weight loss I'm pretty sure I remember coming across stuff about excess cortisol impeding fat burning. Sorry not very scientific and useful as can't really remember where I came across it, but will try to recall.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 27/01/2015 11:28

I hadn't lost, arse to it!

Thumbwitch · 27/01/2015 11:33

Boursin is just the best ingredient, isn't it? I use it in so much, it's expensive here but I just have to take that cost on the chin. Grin

Well I've just had my first unbeatable craving for something a bit sweet. I tried to stave it off with water and parmesan crisps, but it just didn't do it, so rather than do something completely wrong, I've just had a large bowl of natural yoghurt, double cream and cut cherries. That's worked nicely and I feel a lot better now. Grin

I was trying to work out if there was something I could do with cocoa powder and cream but I think it will have to wait until I can include ground almonds...

MrsKoala · 27/01/2015 11:52

I haven't tried cooking with Boursin Thumb. What is good to do with it?

Thumbwitch · 27/01/2015 12:00

Lots! Grin
I melt it into mince dishes (if I want a creamy garlic effect)
I whizz it up with tuna to make a very nice tuna paste for sandwiches
I slice turkey breast steaks and shove it inside, and when non-LCing, coat the lot in GF breadcrumbs to make my own "turkey kievs"
I use it as one of the cheeses in my 3 cheese pasta sauce (again when not LCing) to mix with cauliflower, broccoli and pasta. Actually I could make this without the pasta... - the other 2 cheeses are cheddar and pecorino
Also put it into a carbonara-style sauce instead of cream
Probably lots more that I can't think of just now.

vdibley · 27/01/2015 12:36

So many posts to read! I've taken to drinking water while I scroll through. Two pints down while I caught up to speed! Grin

vdibley · 27/01/2015 12:43

Yesterday:
B: mushroom, spinach, basil and cheese omelette
L: tuna mayo
D: smoked haddock gratin

Haddock dish is so delish, thought I'd share:Smoked Haddock Gratin
Very cheesy, but I think it's very low carb too. Left out breadcrumbs, obvs.

CharlieSierra · 27/01/2015 13:16

vdibley that looks a gorgeous recipe, will definitely be giving that one a try. Maybe stick it on the recipe thread so when we move on next week we still have it?

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 27/01/2015 13:27

L - egg 'muffins' with ham and cheese, with rocket

Amaxapax · 27/01/2015 13:32

Marshal, this might sound a little crazy, but bear with me. I have psoriasis and, years ago, went to an acupuncturist/homeopath. Not my thing, but my stepmom suggested it because she'd had some success going for other reasons.

Anyway, he recommended a gluten free diet and said my skin would get worse at first because the toxins would be expelled, and then it would start to improve. I didn't do it at the time, but I am curious. I don't know how much I believe it, but it would be very interesting to see if there was an improvement further down the line.

ijustwanttobeme · 27/01/2015 13:55

So, the breakfast on offer this morning, was croissants, muffins, pastries, cereal bars and fruit.

I had none ??

Instead I had a large coffee with cream. Not enough for breakfast I know, but was running late.

Lunch was better, still on the go, but managed to find an Abokado and had sizzling coconut chicken soup- didn't eat the carrots or noodles though

NB: I always have been a 'look in the fridge and see what we can have for dinner' type person, so I do need to address that. So not sure what dinner will be yet, as depend on what time I'll be back from DS' school event.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 27/01/2015 14:02

I have awful psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis too. If this woe improves that then woohoo! :)

galbraith · 27/01/2015 14:09

My belt's on the tightest hole for the first time ever!! I might have to put a new one in it soon!

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/01/2015 14:10

MrsK deffo share on here. My view is that everything is to do with bootcamp as emotional stuff affects how and what we want to eat a lot of the time. Hope the baby starts sleeping again DS is 9 months and has just come through a period of screaming hysterically between 11 pm and 4 am. It was horrific, at least DD is in reception and off at school. If it is any help I found it suddenly got easier about 6 months, and now again just after 9 months again even better so you are nearer the end that the beginning I reckon!

galbraith · 27/01/2015 14:16

123Jump You CAN do it! Could you try gradually cutting down? Or would cold turkey be better? Sadly this WOE is really about sugars - carbohydrates are just more complex sugars. So cutting out the bread, pasta etc won't make any difference if you're still eating sugary things as far as I know Sad

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/01/2015 14:35

123jump you can do it! One step at a time. Have you had lunch? If so do you think you can get to dinner without sugary crap? Then eat loads for dinner, clean your teeth and go to bed then you'll have had no sugary crap for the rest of the day. We can work on tomorrow, tomorrow!!!

LexLoofah · 27/01/2015 14:53

123Jump this is my first time going lc and if you had asked me just a few weeks ago if I could or would give up sugar in any of it's forms I would have said 'no way', thought I was a sugar addict for life. Was not eating a lot of it but was doing it every day like a habit I could not stop.

Then I read on here about lc and then then diet trap book and something switched in my head and after a two week ease in and a week of bootcamp think the addiction has been broken and rather painlessly too. Feel like a different person. If I can do it then believe you can too. Keep reading and keep posting. Clear out the crap from the house so you are not tempted.
