Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!

Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Posted up my loss - only one pound Sad - but this is my 3rd week and I've lost 3lb from when I started.

Glosses over the Burns Supper on Sunday night and the fact that yesterday at Gleneagles I succumbed to a piece of onion bread with sunblush tomato butter and then the chocolate fondant dessert Blush

I enjoyed my lunch at Gelenagles and had chicken livers for starter and 3 lamb cutlets with creamed spinach for main course and lots of water.

Good news is that, 3 weeks in, my appetite is finally starting to go - haven't felt like lunch but not feeling the munchies.

I'm not going to get the big losses I've got before as I was on the last Bott Camp and have been mostly Wink low carbing for a while. But if I can average 1-2 punds a week I''' be happy. :)

costababe · 27/01/2015 15:51

Desperately staying on the straight and narrow, got a horrendous head cold now, just in from another cracking session at the Chiro!, feeling very sorry for myself, then read all the woes from Mrs Koala, major sympathies for you Flowers
Struggling with food again today, just not hungry at all, is this a good sign?
B one boiled egg
L small spinach boiled egg and a bit of ham salad with a blob of mayo
D undecided... Made a house sale today and we always have spicy prawns when that happens,( with a nice glass of cava to wash them down normally)
but not sure if I want them, I'll wait for Mr Costa to get home and decide, it's either prawns or sausages and cauliflower cheese.
Hope everyone is having good days.

cymrukernow · 27/01/2015 15:54

Lex loofah I agree conquering sugar addiction is a big challenge even for a few weeks but the results are so worth it. I feel I am able to actually taste food properly, things I thought were bland are now full of flavour.

Horrible PMT today feeling tired and bloated which is when I normally reach for the chocolate.Had some of that Lidl Turkish thick yoghurt which tasted really indulgent Grin. It's 4.2g per 100 tho so can't go mad.

MrsKoala · 27/01/2015 16:18

Aaaaargh today just gets worse. Dropped DS off at pre-school then tried to get DS2 to nap but we only managed 30 mins till he started screaming the house down again. Just picked up DS1 and he was fast asleep and they had let him sleep all afternoon and the head lady even laughed and said 'oh you'll never get him to sleep tonight hahaaaa' oh yeah hahahaa! how we fucking laughed. Angry

I want a chocolate biscuit so much i could cry.

CharlieSierra · 27/01/2015 16:39

Amaxapaz and Beyond I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and I changed my diet early last year - I've been eating Paleo/Primal since then and the effect on my skin, joints and overall wellbeing has been remarkable (my eyes can be affected, my gut, tiredness etc). I went off the wagon at Christmas and I've had a flare, it's not so bad though, skin is clearing much more quickly and I didn't get so overwhelmed with tiredness as before. I want to lose quite a bit of weight as well, which is why bc - the paleo wasn't enough for active weight loss due to starchy veg and fruit in moderation. My son is doing it too, he has ankylosing spondylitis and at times could not walk - he hasn't had a flare for nearly a year and has been off pain meds.

WireCat · 27/01/2015 16:46

I'm in a munchy mood this afternoon.

Have had some pork scratchings.

I've not had lunch cos there's nothing I fancy.

Apart from things I can't eat.

DrDiva · 27/01/2015 17:04

mrsk how you didn't sock her one is beyond me! (Or cry, for that matter.) that's just awful, are they usually so frankly inconsiderate?

Today, yoghurt for breakfast and a coffee, lunch was veg with smoked salmon pâté and some chicken slices. Out for dinner tonight - have looked up the restaurant page, and there are a couple of delicious looking possibilities for the LC-er.

prettybird the idea of this as a Bott Camp made me smile...

prettybird · 27/01/2015 17:07

Blush ...typing too quickly and not previewing.... Blush

Hockneypool · 27/01/2015 17:09

Oh MrsKoala I do feel for you. I hope your evening and night is a lot better. My kids are teenagers now but I remember the horror of little ones not sleeping.

Good luck and stay LC

LexLoofah · 27/01/2015 17:20

B- egg & ham muffin cups (godsend to have a stash in the freezer), spinach and a cuppa
BPC
L - Vietnamese style pork balls (mint, coriander, fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice) from mince left over from the other night, mashed avo and big crunchy salad veggies - think I should have added a fat based dressing or dip of some kind
D - pesto chicken with homemade pesto, prob put some cheese on top, buttered courgette strips and maybe another veg like collards or something

Have just seen we are having a working lunch in the office next Monday and it will probably be the usual sandwiches and wraps, thinking I will ask if I can have a salad or bring my own lunch. The thing is I was hoping to do this surreptitiously so no-one noticed, well not until the weight loss shows as mega-touchy about anyone commenting on what I am eating or supposed to be eating. Don't want to be seen as wanting to be special/different/awkward.

Hmmm thoughts anyone? Would it be bad to fake a sudden gluten intolerance as that would certainly shut down any bread pushers?

Amaxapax · 27/01/2015 17:42

That's really interesting, Charlie. My skin isn't too bad at the moment, but I would really love to go on holiday without worrying about it. Hopefully I'll see a difference over the next few weeks.

My day got a lot worse today when I was notified that I have work scrutiny taking place on Thursday morning. Currently sitting with a cup of fruit tea, staring down a pile of marking. My back is hurting and I've been very hungry this afternoon. Normally I don't need to snack, but my stomach started growling around four.

B: Three hb eggs, mayo
L: Chicken, avocado, cucumber and mayo, cheese sticks
S: Cheese sticks, olives
D: I don't know. Lamb or leftovers or something. Someone else can cook for a change.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 27/01/2015 17:53

Beware of sudden gluten intolerance as sometime you get helpful souls picking up gluten free stuff which is still really carby. Not sure what the answer is though.

MrsK you have my entire sympathy it is horrid when that happens.

I can't remember who it was that said that they thought now that had managed to get around the idea of bootcamp that they might reconsider the issue of caffine intake. I will just say that being on bootcamp and cutting down/out of the caffine I found it much easier than i would have done other wise as the my blood sugar was stable and didn't get the crashes which i would compansate with with coffee. I wish i had stayed caffine free, but I didn't and now i get to do it all over again.

1 coffee, no naps, hoping insomnia does not strike and an ok day food wise until about 20mins ago. Carby but not disasterous and hoping sleep just fixes that.

b:2 eggs scrambled - 1 coffee
l: ham wraps containing egg mayo and cheese + oxo cube
S: It was mostly coconut and egg white. mostly.

T: will be meat and veg left overs. Which i am not feeling inspired about but need eating.

lurkingmurking · 27/01/2015 17:55

Oh god mrsk why on earth did they let him sleep?? I would have KILLED them! I remember picking DS1 up from nursery and them gleefully telling me he'd slept for 4 hours - I wanted to strangle them.

Lex I definitely think you could take a salad and just plead 'January healthy eating'

Good day here today and no snacking which I'm pleased about. Not feeling hungry in the slightest.

Wombat22 · 27/01/2015 18:01

Great superpost Sayra Grin

Notsoskinnyminny · 27/01/2015 18:26

Mrs K stupid bloody woman Angry I'm livid on your behalf and feel your pain. DS didn't sleep, even at nursery, and my saviour was a couple of disney videos and 2 VHS players so I could rewind one tape while he watched the other from his pram while I tried to sleep on the floor after dragging all the cushions off the sofa Dumbo was 88 mins long, a fact I still remember even though he's now 22 Grin My lovely boss would have a Brew ready for me and let me have a snooze on the comfy chair in his office until 10am

Food has been better this week because I planned my meals and made a veggie gratiny thing on Sunday that should see me through to Thursday but struggling with the water, I'm ok first thing in the morning and when I get home but I'm too busy in work to refill my bottle and my assistant couldn't find her way to the kitchen with a map not that I'd ask her but an offer would be appreciated

Time to entertain divadog while I do my kettlecise DVD Grin

FurFoxAke · 27/01/2015 18:42

Evening all! Sorry, am literally posting and running, hope all is well with you?

Breakfast; Parma ham wrap, BPC
Lunch; pork belly strips, egg, mushroom and courgettes
Tea; finishing off the Parma ham, mozeralla and salad leaves in more wraps. (But it's ok because I like them Grin )
Water done, on to 3 litre ATM.

Take care all.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 27/01/2015 19:18

D - duck leg, roast swede, broccoli, cauli, mushroom and asparagus. Mayo

ChesterDrawers · 27/01/2015 19:31

MrsK, so cross on your behalf. I hope by some miracle DS sleeps for you.

Lex I'd be tempted to say that bread doesn't seem to be agreeing with you ATM or something vague like that rather than a full on intolerance. That's a bit easier to get around I think and can always brush it aside if you ever want to eat bread again although of course you shouldn't cos bread is tres bad, incase BIWI is reading

newrecruit · 27/01/2015 19:35

Difficult day today as was in London all day.

Normally it would be pastries, muffins, sandwiches etc.

I managed......
Bercher (I realise not carb free but better than a croissant)
Pizza express salad AND I DIDN'T EAT THE DOUGHSTICKS
M&S chicken bites as a snack.

2 lattes so milk intake not great.

I'm having beef stew for tea.

So not perfect but a massive improvement on my normal habits.

I cheated at the weekend (I was in Paris). I had bread AND croissant for breakfast. Shock The reason was tiredness: if I'm tired my resolve is shot.
