Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Hi all

Just checking in as haven't posted yet this bc - have lurked and followed and occasionally posted on previous ones (though not for a year or so - hence the weight gain).
I started two weeks early so have slowed down (only 1lb this week, which includes a blip at the weekend which I'll draw a veil over...) but I've lost 9lb since 7th Jan following bootcamp rules and feel so much better. Thank you BIWI and everyone who posts, it's v motivating. I have around 10 more pounds to lose and know from experience I find the last bit hard as I start to look and feel ok in the thinner end of my wardrobe spectrum, I just lose momentum and let it slide. But really want to get there and stay there this time!

B - bacon and 2 fried eggs, coffee with cream
L - salad leaves, tuna mayo, coronation chicken (homemade), half avocado
D - prawn something. any ideas?!

I am away (child free yippee) to visit a friend this weekend, she knows I am off bread but any ideas how to limit the damage further without upsetting her or causing a fuss? Am accepting that will have a few drinks as am now safely out of the first two weeks danger zone. I can't take much with me as have a four hour train journey there and back.

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/01/2015 13:15

pork crackling/scratchings sorry I can't remember who asked. I put the fat on a metal grill above the baking tray. That way it doesn't stick and ruin the pan.

miffy49 · 29/01/2015 13:34

I love pork scratchings but the bought ones (even the ones marked gluten free) have yeast extract so they set my intolerance off. I can make great crackling when I do a joint but its never right if I try with just the pork rind. I even tried a method I saw on TV which involved deep frying. Wont be doing that again as it also involved washing down the whole of the cooker, work top and kitchen wall! Guess you could say it spits a bit! The scratchings were crappy too!

MrsKoala · 29/01/2015 13:51

Hi all. Hope everyone is well. Thanks for the pork scratching tip mrsHercule - i'll give that a go next time.

Things seem to be going well for DH, he has asked for much less food at lunch now. No snacks. Just the main lunch and some greek yog. Which is good because him appetite was out of control before.

Frantically getting my hamper together to take to PILs today so i'm rushed.

Yesterday
b - ham, spinach and cheese omelette
l - mackerel and salad
d - 2 venison sausages, swede mash, buttered leeks and a few sprouts
s - olives, ham, pork scratchings and a couple of spoons of greek yogurt.

Today
b - 3 rashers bacon & 2 fried eggs
l - Cheese and salad
dinner will be meatballs, salad and cauli rice (using up the stuff from the fridge before we go away)
s - olives, pepperami, greek yog

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 29/01/2015 14:23

Feeling half better already. Went to sleep and only got woken up by school closing and ds needing collecting. a little fuzzy headed as it was a sudden awakening but off to build snowman with ds.

Lunch: oxo cube, yoghurt

Almahart · 29/01/2015 14:38

Another day of not really feeling hungry. Very chuffed!

lurkingmurking · 29/01/2015 14:40

I'm not hungry either today which is great. I forgot my lunch so got a 'no bread salad' from Pret - it was minging.

I'd usually be hitting the cheese by now but don't fancy it at all.

imustbepatient · 29/01/2015 15:08

I had a bit of a headache when I woke up and throughout the morning, not sure if BC or AF related (or both). Anyway I took a couple of Panadol, drank lots of water and it seems to have gone now.

B: 3 x HB eggs mashed with butter and lots of salt and pepper
L: chicken with broccoli and brussel sprouts, with a dollop of Mayo (at SIL's house so the vege was steamed which was really lovely tasting but I know she only has low fat Mayo in the house, so thinking ahead I brought a little pot of my Mayo with me. Bless her, she doesn't think I'm weird for doing so. Or she hides it well if she does!)
D: will be the last of the belly pork with aubergines and courgettes fried in butter.

I'm off out tonight to an event at a friend's house and know there will be wine and nibbles being served, hence why I am going to have a proper meal before I go so I'm not hungry and can resist the food. Plus I will drive to have an excuse to duck the wine.

I find it so much easier to make the right decisions if I plan properly in advance. Otherwise no bowl of crisps is safe from me at a party...

Notso · 29/01/2015 15:10

Hello all missed loads!
I've had a bit of a rocky couple of days BC wise. Really craved sweet stuff but not felt very hungry. I've had to force myself to make meals but am leaving loads.
I adapted my fish pie recipe last night to suit BC. I usually love it but left half of mine.
On the plus side I've not given into the sweet cravings. I think this is the longest I've not eaten chocolate or crisps for.
I tried LC pancakes this morning, they were a bit of a disaster. Very fragile, they ended up as I scrambled mess and a bit of a weird graininess to them.
Lunch pork steak and buttered leeks
Dinner pork casserole.
Bit porky but am skint so using up the freezer.

LexLoofah · 29/01/2015 15:14

dear lord was so hungry yesterday, scoffed all the lc snacks I had at work after not needing to touch them at all last week, think I need more fat in my lunches.

Fried chicken dinner was lovely though and was stuffed afterwards, got fat splatter burns on arm and leg though so need to invest in a splatter guard as can see more frying in my future

B today was 2 bacon, 2 scrambled eggs and half avocado washed down with a cuppa, now having coffee & cream so should definitely be OK until lunch

lurkingmurking · 29/01/2015 15:47

Notso I found with the pancakes it was better to do one big fat one than lots of little ones and it worked a treat. Had to cook for a lot longer obviously but it was far better.

Notso · 29/01/2015 16:39

Thanks lurkingmirking I tried a couple of small ones and one big one but neither were any good. What recipe did you use? Mine was 2 oz cream cheese and 2 eggs.

MushroomTree · 29/01/2015 17:03

Can some point me in the direction of the ricotta muffins someone mentioned earlier?

Sounded delicious!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 29/01/2015 17:11

Didnt have lunch as had a sleep. Coffee with cream when i woke up

Dinner is chorizo 'style' sausages, mashed swede, mange tout, baby corn and broccoli, with shallot 'gravy' (basically just oxo)

Pisseslikeahorse · 29/01/2015 17:23

SarahB The crabby feeling is that your hungry, As you've been working out your burning more calories and your bodies telling you to eat, so you need to Grin .

Was at the Natural history museum today with ds school class and he got interviewed by the BBC, 5 yrs old and he didn't bat an eye just had a good chat.

Romeyroo · 29/01/2015 17:25

I have a quick question about soya flour. I have some and was going to use it to make a pizza for DC (not me, don't worry Grin. DC2 can be hyper active and I have realised that keeping him on a low sugar/low GI diet helps matters A LOT.

However, I have made the dough before reading the packet, and it says 26g of carbs per 100 (which is less than normal flour) but 11g of this is sugarars (!!). According to the packet, it is only soya flour, and according to Dr Google soya flour is good for controlling blood sugar - so why so much sugar listed? What am I missing? More importantly, will DC2 be bouncing off the walls after dinner (that is a LOT of sugar)??

ijustwanttobeme · 29/01/2015 17:37

evening LCers:

Today had:

B: Tuna Mayo with spring onion and peppers.
L: huge rocket salad, with ham, turkey, guacamole, cherry tomatoes
S: baby bel and a coffee with cream
D: will be similar to yesterday as need to use up, nearly out of date pork chops. Will have with courgettes, greens, broccoli and gravy (will need to check carbs)

BlueberryHope · 29/01/2015 17:39

Hi chaps - will read through later - but had a gorgeous quick snack to help through the tricky part of the day that is the kids' tea. Fried (for them) salmon fillets in butter. Lots of butter. Removed crispy salmon skins, sprinkled with salt and crunched them! Oh such buttery goodness!

miffy49 · 29/01/2015 18:05

Notso I would say that the fact that you are craving sweet things but not feeling hungry for other food is a sign that you are going over to fat burning. Your body can kick up a bit of a fuss like telling a toddler it can't have sweeties! By sticking it out you are well on the way to a good win and the cravings are nearer to passing. If you weren't burning fat you would be hungry for 'sensible' food. Grin

I've been really droopy all week and could so easily have hit the sugar but I thank my stars that someone posted about slices of cheese with butter and marmite! Its been my saviour this week. Today I've had a sudden burst of enthusiasm and been having a major kitchen blitz sorting out all the rubbish from the back of the cupboards and generally making a bit of order out of chaos. Hoping I will be rewarded by a quick visit from the Whoosh Fairy.Smile

thenightsky · 29/01/2015 18:19

these make an excellent snack

Mrsstevejones · 29/01/2015 18:39

Out with the kids today and usually an excuse for coffee and cake. I did take my own cream and bought a black coffee, so i didnt feel left out.

It the sort of kids paradise( hell ) that you can take a picnic too, so i made a lovely chicken and cheese salad with harissa paste ( my new fav ingredient) mayo and an oily dressing on my leaves.

I had a load of little pots and assembled it before i ate, my friend was a bit wtf but didnt say anything esp as i had mentioned i was on a diet and there was me pulling out pots of cream, oil dressing and mayo! She is a die hard WW fan and in all fairness is looking great on it.

B- BPC
L- cheese and chicken , spinach salad with oily dressing, harissa mayo and cucumber plus 2 cherry tomatoes. Coffee with cream
S- small knob of cheese and 1tsp of coconut oil
D- Bolognase served on a bed of sauteed spring greens and a sprinkle of cheese, then doused in hot chilli sauce

Loads of water i had drunk nearly two litres by 10am then had another 2 when i came home.

LexLoofah · 29/01/2015 18:40

Notso this is where the pancake recipe came from, perhaps you need to leave the blender on for longer, there shouldn't be any lumps in the batter

Pancake Recipe

FurFoxAke · 29/01/2015 18:50

Hi all! I'm really craving sweet stuff as well. It's been very hard not to give in tbh at times today, it seems to fill my head IySWIM?
But I haven't and I won't . Gggrrrrrrrr

And breathe....
Breakfast; egg and BPC. I'm going to fry some bacon tonight to heat in the morning for a change.
Dinner; fry up, (bacon, egg, mushroom, 1/2 beef tom)
Tea;prawns in mayo and salad leaves.
Water done and sipping away until bed.

But now I've read about marmite on cheese.. I really wants it. Grin

Mrsstevejones · 29/01/2015 19:56

Hi can anyone help with a recipe substitution?

This fri i want to make the hairy bikers diet lamb doner kebabs. Obv will use fatty lamb mince (instead of lean) and ff yog for the sauce. The recipe calls for 1tsp of plain flour to use when rolling out the lamb mince between two pieces of cling film. Could i use oil?, as i guess the aim is to stop the lamb mince sticking to the cling film or is there a more allowable flour alternative? I will be staying on BC so dont want to mess it up.

Will of course be serving on a spinach salad as opposed to a pitta bread.

They look amazing and DH does love a doner (although always suspicious of exact of ingredients).

TIA

cymrukernow · 29/01/2015 19:57

Just starting to feel a bit better after 3 days of feeling bleurrgh. Pmt involved but not normally this bad, could it be carb flu too? I thought you only got that in the first week.
B- hb eggs and butter
L- chicken pesto Mayo and green salad
D- Curried veg
