Hey
I'm starting again on 5th Jan, just about to go through recipes and meal plan as for me, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail!

Macloveswill - I was gettign a lot of headaches at the beginning of my last LC. I had to stop drinking filtered and replaced it with mineral water, not table bottled water.
I also have few sachets of dehydrating powder in my bag just in case.
using butter with salt also helps in maintaining electrolytes.

Amaxapax · 06/01/2015 09:34

Could anyone let me know if my food yesterday and plan for today sounds okay? Yesterday was:
B - Two boiled eggs with a spoonful of Boison
L - Celeriac soup and cucumber marinated in olive oil, vinegar and mint
Snack - Two more boiled eggs with mayonnaise (I was really hungry and this was all I had in. I intend to have a bigger lunch to avoid the twice a day egg situation.)
D - Marinated Italian chicken, courgette strips fried in butter and steamed broccoli

Today will be:
B - Two boiled eggs with mayonnaise
L - Celeriac soup, cucumbers and tuna mayonnaise
D - Either lamb with veg or meatball stew

I had about three liters of water yesterday and will aim for the same today. I've also had one cup of tea with milk each day. Does this sound alright?

antimatter · 06/01/2015 10:03

Amaxapax I would add more fat so you feel fuller for longer.

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 11:07

Thanks for the bpc advice! Feel a bit less ill today thanks to my 1yo dd sleeping like an angel until 10am ShockShockShock

mootime · 06/01/2015 11:34

Well I tried a coffee with just coconut oil and almond milk and it was really good.

I've a quick question about coconut products. Can we have coconut water and coconut yoghurt? Trying to work out what of my airy substitutes are ok.

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 11:51

I'd check the carb content on your coconut yoghurt as it's likely to have added sugar. You could try natural yoghurt and add coconut essence instead, which I think would be ok?

mootime · 06/01/2015 11:53

It's made with coconut milk rather than cows milk. Carb count is 0.5g /100g so should be fine. Coconut water is 5g /100. Is that too high???

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 12:00

Ah I understand now. I thought you meant coconut flavoured yoghurt rather than made with coconut milk. I think the carb count sounds fine. Also, where do you get it from as it sounds delicious Grin

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 12:00

Not sure about the coconut water, sorry. Hopefully someone else will know.

StuntNun · 06/01/2015 12:06

Mootime coconut yoghurt is fine. I tried making my own using a Lakeland yoghurt maker and vegetarian gelatin to get it to set. It was lovely and rich and very coconutty. The coconut milk is borderline so I wouldn't drink loads of it. What do you use it for? My DS3 has it instead of regular milk but is find it a bit too tasteless.

Howhardcanitbe · 06/01/2015 12:34

Just checking in - day 1 for me so still finding my feet. Skipped breakfast as was dashing out to Step class first thing, but I've just had chicken salad and mayo for lunch. I'm also aiming to increase my daily steps to 15,000 instead of my usual 10,000, so will see how I get on with that.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 06/01/2015 12:37

Starting today, would have been yesterday but spent most of it in bed poorly.

B- bpc, bacon, scrambled egg and mushrooms
L- omelette with spinach, salmon and cream cheese

projectbabyweight · 06/01/2015 12:48

Hi all! I'm doing pretty well so far, although just discovered I put on 4lbs over xmas/NY which really shows as I have a small frame. So 11lbs to lose now.

Anyway, I know this approach works for me - at least if I avoid dairy. When I cut out dairy last time I suddenly dropped 2 inches from my tummy in about 2 weeks, and it wasn't even very big to start with. My problem area is my hips/bum, so I'll have to really go for it before my holiday on the 23rd.

I get tempted by the dc's food so I must stay focussed. Best of luck to everyone!

GutsyMcMuffin · 06/01/2015 12:59

I started on New Year's Day - was 4lbs down yesterday! I've been having full fat Greek yog with 6 blueberries for breakfast. I know we're not supposed to have blueberries until BClight but this works for me on the days when I can't face something cooked.

Today I'm having a chicken salad and tonight were eating at a sushi restaurant so I'll just choose the sashimi.

I noticed they're selling the carb free noodles in Tesco, almond butter in a huge tub and coconut flour. They were all next to each other so maybe they're slowly getting the message. I'm not planning to use the flour or almond butter just yet, but will be looking for ideas in advance.

Carb flue was bad yesterday and the day before - days 4 & 5, but I feel glorious today.

Antimatter, given that you started back on the 1st, is the rash recent? If you haven't had it before it might not be eggs. It could be ketones. Some people get skin irritation in the early days of going over to fat burning. In the early stages of ketosis you produce more acetone which is excreted in the sweat and the breath (hence the metallic taste in the mouth and the fruity smelling breath). This will pass as you go over to more long term fat burning when your body changes over to producing a different ketone (whose name escapes me right now).

By all means check out the egg thing but before you ditch something so useful it might be worth considering the ketones. At 5 days in you could well be just be starting to produce them in quantity.

miffy49 · 06/01/2015 14:14

Stunt the coconut yoghurt sounds interesting. How did you do it? I have made my own Greek yoghurt in the past but had to knock it off due to lack of fridge space for the straining process. DS is on some weird body building plan which involves using most of my fridge space for his HUGE quantities of veg!

I have flavoured normal yoghurt with coconut cream and topped it with cinnamon which is nice but not that coconutty.

miffy49 · 06/01/2015 14:18

Amaxapax you might be better with a protein source at lunchtime instead of all veg. Protein is more sustaining so you don't get hungry as fast. Even just a stick of cheese or a bit of grated cheese on your soup would help.

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 14:34

Is there anything quick and easy I can have to up my fat intake? This morning I had a coffee with almond milk, green smoothie (spinach, cucumber, almond milk/water and natural yoghurt) and I've had red pepper soup for lunch. I'm a bit fussy with meat and don't really eat cold meats but I can't think of anything else to have. I'm very aware that I've just eaten solely veg all day Grin

sassandfaff · 06/01/2015 14:48

Felix

Eggs, avocados, peanut butter, olives. Smile

I started 1st Jan. Was briefly on the one in summer, lost some weight which I managed to keep off until Christmas. I talked myself into eating all the things I never let myself eat for one last time hopefully.

Bought new scales yesterday, as my old ones randomly selected any weight they felt like.

I was 14 stone 9 yesterday (evening with clothes on) and 14 stone 5 this morning (pre water and in underwear.

I can squeeze into size 10 short shorts at 11 stone (memories if 2009......sigh) so 11stone is my goal, but I'd really prefer 10 stone.

I am doing dry January, not eating sugar and low carbing. I have eaten Brazil and macadamia nuts though and bought Greek yogurt and creme fraiche to put in it today.

Are they OK?

sassandfaff · 06/01/2015 14:56

Also, I find that the 8 hour rule, 2 meals a day really suits me.

mootime · 06/01/2015 15:09

Sorry, Ive another question. What is the amount of carbs we are aiming for? I've put my food for the whole of today into MFP and it says that I will have 48g of carbs, and that is without very much veg. Salad and avocado at lunch and broccoli at supper....

FelixFelix · 06/01/2015 15:17

Thanks for the ideas. I have olives and avocados in so I will have some of those.

Amaxapax · 06/01/2015 15:46

Thanks Miffy and Antimatter. I realised this morning that I had a vegetarian lunch yesterday, which is most unlike me, so that's why I added the tuna mayonnaise. I feel much better today, but will try to add more mayonnaise tomorrow. Normally I'm a cheese fiend, but I'm a little worried about having too much. I'll likely have it in my dinner once or twice this week, but I can very easily get carried away with it so thought it might be best to avoid.

GutsyMcMuffin · 06/01/2015 15:55

Moo time I think that whilst you're not supposed to count carbs you want to eating around 20g a day. Post what you've eaten.

miffy49 · 06/01/2015 16:08

I know what you mean about cheese Amaxpax! I could easily live on it. I did cut it out altogether at one point but it didn't make a huge difference in weight loss compared to the loss of meal options so now I just try to be mindful. I will have it as my main meal ingredient eg cheese omelette or cauli cheese, but I don't use it for snacking or have it every day. I think its when you snack on it that it can tend to run away with you.
