Hey
I'm starting again on 5th Jan, just about to go through recipes and meal plan as for me, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail!

OP posts:

Chester that sounds nice! Will have to try it.

Just weighed myself in anticipation of starting tomorrow Confused I am very slightly lighter than I expected but still need to lose at least 4st Sad

miffy49 · 05/01/2015 13:08

Someone mentioned carb flu. Get some extra salt and you'll feel better. A cup or two of Bovril, Oxo or veg bouillon will really help. You tend to pee a lot in the early stages of LC and it upsets your electrolytes so you need to replace the salt.

StuntNun · 05/01/2015 13:54

75g of glucose this morning for my oral glucose tolerance test. Hmm Back to low carb tomorrow. I hope the carb flu isn't going to hit me too hard.

Wombat22 · 05/01/2015 17:00

Hello all. Day one and so far, so good
B: 2 hard boiled eggs mashed with home made mayo
L: Home made beef curry and a bowl of broccoli soup (trying to up my veg)
D: Shepherd's pie with carrot and swede mash (not much carrot)

Don't forget we should be drinking masses of water folks. Smile

feesh · 05/01/2015 17:23

Just checking in as I spontaneously started today as well. I knew I would start this week, I just wanted to get in the right mood and today was it!

I lost a couple of kg doing Bootcamp last May, and then started eating carbs again on holiday. Thankfully I haven't put on a single pound since, but I do need to lose 10kg this year (as opposed to the paltry 5kg I managed to lose last year in total).

I've kept up some good habits since then, such as always having eggs for breakfast. Any kind of milk/cereal combo actually leaves me feeling quite ill nowadays.

Lunch will be salad every day, but thankfully I live in the Middle East where it's still relatively warm at this time of year, so it's not such a hardship living off salad.

I made a lovely Jamie Oliver shoulder of lamb roast tonight which was bloody lovely. I need to focus on learning new recipes with cheaper cuts of meat this time round, as last time I did BC it got very expensive! Have slow cooker, not afraid to use it!

Right, let's do this! I will weigh in tomorrow as I forgot this morning. Plus I have raging PMT at the moment which means I will get a little head start on weightloss as I am no doubt bloated at the moment. A few more pounds off in the first couple of weeks is always good for the motivation!

ceedub · 05/01/2015 17:48

checking in on day one:

B: 2-egg omelette with smoked salmon
L: couple of slices of roast beef with mustard and a cup of home-made vegetable soup
D: will be thai chicken curry with squash and broccoli, no rice for me.

snacks: handful of peanuts and a spoonful of total yoghurt. Need to give those up - they're the reason I hardly lost anything on the autumn BC.

First day back up at work tomorrow - at least pret now does hard-boiled eggs so that's breakfast sorted.

ceedub · 05/01/2015 17:49

oh, and have drunk a gallon of peppermint and liquorice tea....

ClashCityRocker · 05/01/2015 18:13

Day one going good for me too.

Resisted all manner of leftover christmas chocolate that my dear colleagues have bought in.

Need to drink some water though!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 05/01/2015 18:26

Hi, can I join you. Started BC at the end of Oct and only had a few days off over Christmas. Have lost 21 pounds so far which I am pleased about, especially as I'm finding it all quite easy (never hungry) The water part is the hardest for me.
I feel a bit fed up today though, I feel like I've got such a loooooongggg way to go still, that I'll never get there. Logically I hope I'm wrong, but hardly anyone has noticed yet.
Hope it's just that January blues feeling. I think it will boost me to go from the 'obese' category into just 'overweight'. 6lbs to get to that.

FelixFelix · 05/01/2015 18:30

Natural that's such a great weight loss so far! Well done.

Also well done to everyone who started today Smile

DurhamDurham · 05/01/2015 19:15

Breakfast sliced chicken breast
Lunch yesterday's leftover pork, asparagus and green beans
Dinner pork, parsnips, mushrooms

Sick of pork but it's been a successful day as I've had lots of water and no chocolate Grin

TrinityForce · 05/01/2015 19:58

salad at lunch time, chicken curry for dinner.

Someone brought gingerbread biscuits in at work today, I didn't even feel slightly tempted. I'm always just so so impressed how well low carbing completely curbs my sweet tooth.
Is it actually mental, the not wanting sweets? Or is it actually something to do with ketosis?
Just so impressed!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 05/01/2015 20:15

Thank you Felix I'm pleased with it but don't feel much different yet. I'll have to go with the motto of BC and say onwards and downwards.

Trinity it's great when your hunger doesn't control you anymore isn't it? That's why this will be a way of life for me forever (more or less) It's only the second time in my life when I haven't been too bothered about eating. You realise how much is habit. I think it's a real scientific thing though, not just your mind. Sugar makes you hungry, fat keeps you full.

MrsDesperado · 05/01/2015 20:16

Thanks for those who have shared their meal plans, keep them coming, there's some great inspiration in there.

Brunch - mushroom and spinach omelette

Dinner - sausages, cauli mash, broccoli and literally a mouthful's worth of carrots.

Despite feeling absolutely stuffed I'm resisting the urge to snack on something. Not used to not shovelling it in all evening Blush

SayraT · 05/01/2015 21:17

I might as well move over here...I was still posting on the old thread. I will let the others know that this thread is more active than the other one.

bettybigballs · 05/01/2015 21:25

Loved my chilli earlier. Thanks for the idea, have lots left too, that's lunch tomorrow sorted. I mixed some coriander in with my cauli rice and it tasted great, less vegetable like and more rice like.
Litres and litres of water done too.
Hope everyone's had a good day.

Macloveswill · 05/01/2015 21:34

End of day 5 and I too am impressed with the lack of my, usually voracious, sweet tooth. Also managed 10000 steps for the 4th day in a row!

The only down side is I am feeling a little under the weather still, so thanks to the suggestion above, I'm going to have a mug of OXO before bed.

Great recipe suggestions too, thanks ladies Grin

Howhardcanitbe · 05/01/2015 21:35

Hello,

I am starting tomorrow as simply cannot continue for another week eating Christmas chocolates and drinking wine every night! I'm feeling completely and utterly bloated and in desperate need of a radical change.

I'm currently reading the Low Carb Revolution, but I must also confess to reading several books on low carbing in the past but have never managed to get underway with it.

I've got as far as planning tomorrow's food and will do a 2-week plan in the morning.

I'll check back in tomorrow as I will def be in need of encouragement when the sugar urges hit..!!Cake

RubySlippers77 · 05/01/2015 22:07

I made a start today too. Currently having a camomile and spiced apple tea rather than the usual biscuit snack before bedtime!!

The supermarkets round me were rather bare today which is a shame, may have to do more shopping later in the week.

Back to the gym tomorrow too Shock

FelixFelix · 05/01/2015 22:29

Is it acceptable to have a BPC instead of food for breakfast? I've got a stinking cold and have lost my sense of taste so probably won't fancy eating in the morning Sad

SayraT · 05/01/2015 22:54

Yes it is Felix I often do that as once I've been lcing for a bit I'm not hungry in the mornings.

Hope the cold goes away soon.

mootime · 06/01/2015 08:49

Started yesterday and found it relatively easy. I forgot how you don't feel deprived when low carbing. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast, left over pork and salad for lunch and salmon with celeriac chips and salad for supper. I am still having s couple of almond milk lattes to make up for breast feeding. And amazingly I didn't need to snack at all.

Maybe it's because I'm so full of the crap I've been scoffing for the last two weeks....Confused

mootime · 06/01/2015 08:50

Oh and what is a BPC and is it/ can it be dairy free??

SayraT · 06/01/2015 08:56

Sorry mootime a BPC (bullet proof coffee) is not dairy free, unless you are ok with butter? It is coffee with butter and coconut oil. I also add some cream but obviously you could miss that out.

antimatter · 06/01/2015 09:24

I started on the 1st.
Need to see if I can have egg free days.
Something gives me skin rash Sad

I am finding it easy - our plan here follows pretty much Whole30 plan (in case anyone is looking for recipes)
